And, number one rule on birthdays -- anything goes for food and drink so I am glad you enjoyed your day! Gee, if you and Jim planned it a little better, Ian could have been born on your birthday!
Something to remember for child #4???!!!
Glad to hear that you are back in exercise mode, dear Cathy. You can do this -- you have great will power once you get that fire going.
Cataract surgery is at 10am tomorrow and I have opted to be put out because I am a chicken. One of our employees -- a new girl Russ felt sorry for and hired because she was having financial proglems -- is making dinner for us tomorrow night. She almost made me cry because no one at work has ever been that nice to me and some have been there for over 10 years. Some people really know how to make your day ....
Ok, lovely ladies, have a wonderful evening each and every one of you!
Hey gals- just waiting for my party to get started Jim took Brendan shopping yesterday and he's been so good about keeping it secret. Well, they are getting all ready and Brendan yells down the stairs "hey mom we got you some mystery plants- there's a red one too" Well, he almost made it.
Just had a very enjoyable dinner at Earls (Pam will know about Earls I'm sure and maybe Cat?) Had a cajun chicken ceasar and of course some wings since it was "wing Wednesday" (how lucky a girl am I to have a Wednesday birthday?! ) Now for some white cake with a custard layer from Safeway. At least it's just an 8' round instead of a sheet...
I think they are about ready for me.
Good luck tomorrow Terry! You'll do great!!!!!
Emily

I am pretty new to this site, and a new friend recommended I try your thread. I hope hope you don't mind if I crash it???
I am looking for someplace that can help keep me focused when I start thinking of Nachos and all the other snacks that keep me looking like a marshmallow!
I am married and just had baby number 5. She is the last of the bunch, and now I am trying to get back that "girlish" figure I used to have another lifetime ago.
I started out at 245 and just got the nerve to weigh myself...and am down to 240 you would have thought that I scaled Mt. Everest...I was so excited the scale actually moved to the left!! The first time in over a year that the number actually went down!
I would love to hear from any of you about what works for you, and what kind of plans you ladies are on.....I figure knowledge is power and in your wisdom I might find something that will work for me.
Good morning ladies,
And welcome Yvette... I am also the mother of 5, mine are all boys ...I am still trying to win this battle.. but in the past month I have lost 9 pounds....I am just doing portion control and trying to be more active.. course working 57 + hrs a week this past 6 wks hasn't hurt... We are all in this together. Glad you are joining us, look forward to reading more of your posts.
Will write more later,, getting ready for work right now.. hi to everyone , hope you all have a great op day...
Welcome Yvette!! And, congratualtions on your newest addition! And, congratualtions on the weight loss -- every pound lost is a victory in our book!
I hope you come to love online support as much as I have. We are all on different plans but our goal is the same -- to get healthier and thinner one day, and ten pounds at a time . Some of us are doing WW, some Atkins, some just watching calories -- I'm doing the new South Beach Diet. Different strokes for different folks -- as long as your plan fits into your lifestyle, that's all that matters. I hope you post often, and I look forward to getting to know you better .
Well, I am alive and kicking after cataract surgery and I am absolutely floored by the results. Before the surgery I was off the charts with that eye (as in almost legally blind) and when he took the patch off this afternoon my vision was 20-30. I gave him a huge hug!!
Laurie's a great cook -- spinach lasagna, salad, garlic bread and strawberry-rhubarb pie .... and yes, I did eat a little of everything! I felt so spoiled Russ brought her a basket of flowers because that was so sweet of her.
Dahlia, I thought life was slowing down for you -- 57 hours this week???
Ah, Cathy, you are the life of our party -- just by posting!
Court cases are demanding and I hope all your hard work pays off. Hey, I just received your email as I type this
Hope all is well, Carol!
Gee, have not heard from Pam and Grandma in a long time -- I know Meg is busy with her new job. Miss our ladies when they don't post.
OK, time for more eye drops and perhaps a nap --
See you all later, gators and welcome again, Yvette!
Terry - so glad to hear that you got through your surgery!!
Yvette- glad you found us here! This is a great group of ladies (well, almost all of us are ladies hehehe) for support. Post often!!
Dahlia- I need some ideas for perennials for a north-facing flowerbed that gets NO sun at all. I'll bet you are getting ready for a more relaxing time!! But yay on the weight-loss!
This will be short I am tired tonight and I think we are going to watch a movie if Brendan will ever give it up and go to sleep!!!
I've been doing well in that I haven't had fast food this week and I've started walking a bit. Need to step it though if I want results though.
Will have some pics to post at the yahoo site. Had a friend take some of the boys yesterday and I have them scanned, just need to upload them. Not sure it that will happen tonight or not.
Anyway talk to you all later!
Pam, Meg, G'ma, Carol, Cat- hope to hear from you all soon!!
Hi Ladies and Hello Yvette..glad that you found us
Terry..like i said.."Do we look any thinner now that you can see us properly?" I'm so glad that everything went well that must feel so awesome..i can only imagine the difference that you are feeling...glad you enjoyed the meal too!
Hey Em..i am such a dummy i never even thought of asking Dahlia for gardening tips and here i am living with ever chomping deer and rabbits not to mention the scotch broom!!
I cannot even choose the correct words to express what it feels like to see the way I do -- I have never had this good of vision even with corrective lenses. I wore glases since kidnergarten (age 4-5) and contacts for over 36 years. The detail is incredible, the colors sharper -- it's not even about seeing farther.
I can't wait to get a cataract in the other eye so I can get that one done too. Insurance will not pick up a lens implant just to correct vision as they consider it cosmetic -- contacts and glasses they feel can accomplish the same result. I'm sorry to keep talking so much about it, but it just blows my mind.
Em, you're not a lady??!! I look forward to seeing some new pics of "our boys" too.
Well, better get some sleep -- it's 3am and the ball ended a long time ago!
Hey whats up with this..Terry's going to bed at 3am is'nt that the time we usually get up? i got up at 4am this morning i think i should take up farming..they get up at ungodly hours don't they? all i can say about your new vision is WOW!! it sounds incredible BBL
now if there is some-partial sun and partial shade you have more choices... there is
anchusa (summer forgetme not), anemone, columbine, armeria,
bergenia, branched bugbane, eupatorium (chocolate-leaf snakeroot), northern sea oats -hakonechloa (both grasses), mondo grass, coral bells, hostas, lithodora, saxifraga, stokesia,
meadow rue (thalictrum), and violas.
Hope that helps you. I am redoing my 4 flowerbeds this year, making two of them strictly perennial... putting a lot of containers on my deck, it is huge so the plants help to make it look like another room outdoors...
I hope you were all taking notes cause there will be a test later...
ok. yes I still put in 57 + hours last week, I work from 9-6 monday thru saturday then I put in about an hour in the office after supper. Am having a sale starting monday, so the next two weeks should clear out the inventory of spring plants. We already have the fall mums, etc. going...and of course perennials go anytime... just did another planting of more varieties...
Oh, yes and this coming next 2 weeks I'll be working alone in the center, so will get a good workout each day.
Enough about work,, the scale is stalled at this weight for now. But as soon as I get less working hours, I'll get in more exercise that is fun stuff so I'll stick with it.. like cleaning out my yard and flower beds....
Going back to bed -- dang dog was barking away. Cathy, you'd make a good farmer -- I can see you with the farmer jeans and straw hat now!
Dahlia, thanks for the info and I printed it out. We have a lot of shade and trees in the back yard so maybe I can use some for ground cover??
Thinking of having the backyard landscaped -- a sink hole is getting bigger and bigger. When they built the house they must have buried a lot of tree stumps and it's all decaying after 21 years. It's weird, there 's this huge dip in the lawn. We also had big oak tree taken down last summer so the stump area has a circumfrence of about 8' of dirt and roots.
Need to spend some big bucks -- need to find them first!
Hmm, I started the coffee pot about 30 minutes ago and I don't smell the coffee yet -- perhaps I didn't press the "on" button. Now I know I need a few more hours of sleep
Morning all that felt like a short night, but not as short as Terry's and Cat's!! How do you guys function?!!
Did stay up and watch a movei--- "Murder by Numbers"- w/ Sandra Bullock. Not amazing, but it was free from the library so no biggie.
I did get some pics uploaded at the yahoo site- if you can get there check them out!
Thanks Dahlia for the tips! We really get no sun at all as the overhang on our house is pretty wide. I should have added that I think we are in zone 1 and I think our basement leaks a bit so I need drought reisistant as well. We have cedars right now- they aren't my favorite, but at least they are green (Even though they are slowly dying since we can't give them enough water)/ We have a raised foundation too so I like that is covered. I've been tempted to pull them out the last couple years, but the idea of coming up with what to replace them with is too daunting.
Terry- I am so happy you can see so well!!! What a blessing that I know I take for granted. So do you still have to wear your contacts? Or just in the other eye??
Well, here's a pic of my boys. Aren't they cute Guess the file size is too big (but only 58 K??) Cat you've done this before. help me out!
Talk to you all later.
