Strewth - I forgot Mel. My humblest apologies Mel. I am on my knees in abject shame.
Put it down to old age and stupid people who I have to deal with - not you! Saw a note the other day - if some people could manage their stupidity, then I could manage my anger. Back later to update the daily doings. |
What daily doings?
Nothing happening here today. I went to see the training director lady and had a chat. At the moment I have handed in my notice, however there is as yet no date on it. She will be back to me when she can get some information. She doesn't have forever. Going to have my cuppa tea and then off to bed. Earl Grey, I'm very ready for you. |
Good morning ladies -
I'm up, dressed and ready to head to my new/old job! :woohoo: After work, I'm meeting a former co-worker from Kohl's for dinner (since I work too far away from Kohl's to do lunches anymore). Thanks for all your love, support and encouragement. Much love and many hugs to all, |

Good Morning My Worldlie Supporters.....
The only song I could sing on the way to work this morning was Highway to H*ll by AC/DC. Then after I realized I was singing it I began to laugh. Now I have arrive at H*LL. This place is a wreck. Looks like we had some abitious co-workers in here over the weekend. Must have been the travelers that were not in the office last week. Had leftover Kung Po Chicken for breakfast, it just sounded good. Kind of bit into a habenero pepper and now my mouth is on fire, other body parts will follow as the day progresses, I am sure. lol The kids didn't get over to paint yesterday like promised. I was a little frustrated with them as I had to rearrange my day to accommodate them. Supposedly they are coming this evening to do it. I know Chris can paint a couple of rooms in just a few hours, so hopefully he will get it done tonight. Tomorrow night is visiting Cs "good" daughter to see her new apartment. She took an assistant manager job for Long John Silver in the town of Brownsburg, IN, which is just NW of Indy. It is a high rent district but a very nice town. More importantly, I am sure it is about wanting her child support that should of stopped back in June as she did not go on to college. (Sore spot) C and I are having a great discussion about that tonight. Hard for me to say a lot as he is more than accepting of my dad living with us...but all and all it IS MY house he is coming to live. Plus C helps out my kids with no problem all the time, no questions asked. High today is 19 which it has to drop another 4 degrees to get there. Tonight's low is ZERO...burrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It is amazing how fast Sassy can now run out, go potty and beat it back to the door. I no more get the slider closed and she is back. hahah. She is learning. CHELLE...have a marvelous day at work and put your best foot/face/smile forward...do a good job!! CA may be better for you anyway, out of this nasty cold weather. SHADDIE....I wish I could hand in my notice from here. And who is Earl Grey, a new man in your life? Ba hahahaha. If only we could pick men as easily as we could pick tea. Love your stupidity and anger theory...makes perfect sense to me. CEEG...when the bosses come to you about working extra, JUST SAY NO. It is to hard on you. Maybe they need to work extra or at least higher a flunky to help out. Hugs HAPPY...funny thing about brother. He called about 4pm yesterday and wanted to know if I wanted to come to my other brother's house where they were to visit or meet him at dads. I got my balls on and said, not really I am in my sweats, have not done my hair or make up, and am tired, you are welcome to come over here and visit. He said they would. THey showed up about the time our Chinese food arrived and proceded to eat half of it. haha....didn't know I invited him to eat half of my meal. My mom and dad used to have a hot tub in their family room, inside there house...if it is installed correctly it does not leak...their hot tub never did. THey had it about 10 years. Then said if any of us kids wanted it, it was ours except we hand to uninstall it and repair the area. My bro in IL came over uninstalled it, repaired the area, nicely and he has been using it for about 10 years. No leaks. He does have it outside their walk out basement on the patio. MELLIE...thank God for the quiet Saturday. Sorry to hear about Richie's tooth. Man, he and Jen and you for that matter sure do get dealt some crappy stuff. Sometimes, as I have learned in the past couple of weeks, staying positive is the road to tow, sometimes difficult tho. LAURA...congrats to you on the 15 lbs lost, you must be one sexy chick by now. You looked awesome when I visited back in September. And such a beauty of a chick at that. BF is one lucky man. Hey Ellen, hope everyone is happy and healthy in your world! Hi to all the lurkers. Stay happy and healthy...take an extra vitamin. Loves and hugs |
MELLIE...you are my sneaker inner, considering this took me almost an hour to post with doing my multi-tasking here at work. Stay warm my sister soul in crime......If I didn't have to get out in it...I wouldn't. husgs

Oh and Shad....unfortunately the person responsible for securing us a new location is a HUMANA employee, in the Workplace Solutions department. hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha.....

I was amazed that my friend/boss came to the plant this morning to talk about the situation with my co-worker. He told me that we would go to 8 hours. I didn't even ask him. I'd made up my mind that I couldn't do it and was going to retire. The three bosses know my health concerns and my age.
Had a bad night last night. My sinuses kept clogging my throat and my throat then felt as if it had sand in it. I got up and took an Allegra 180mg this morning and sprayed my nose. Right now I can breathe and no drainage. My throat is sore. The doctor gave me a Zpack that I can get filled but he didn't want me to use it unless I had too. I'm thinking seriously about having it filled. This morning I've rotated the fluoride drums to get ready for the new ones coming into day on the truck. -------------------- Michelle I've inserted a link to my blog at the bottom of the page. It's nothing exciting. Hope things go well for you today. Annie That's to funny that workspace solutions doesn't always know the best thing. More later |
Morning all. Back at work today. I managed to put my back out this morning - by coughing, no less - so I'm in some pain at the moment. Aaargh. Not a good start to the week.
Annie - I hope the kids can come over to paint tonight. It's nice they can give you a hand with this. You're not a bad sister, some relationships just aren't as good as others, and it takes effort on both ends to make it work. Sort of clueless on this brother's part with the last minute visit at dinner time...Hope you aren't paying for that spicy food later on!!! Mel - Having gone through that flu last week, I say just keep yourself isolated if you can! I wouldn't want anyone to feel as sick as I did last week. Shad - Hope you can move to the training side of this project from He!!. :crossed: Otherwise, I'm sorry it's come to you resigning, but why get subjected to poor treatment like that? Good luck. Michelle - Good luck today! Another fresh start! Enjoy your dinner out tonight. :) Re walking doggy in this frigid weather - if Coal didn't become so antsy and whiney without his daily walk, we'd likely skip them in weather like this, but we know from experience that's not good for him. So I bundled up yesterday and walked him. It always seems to start out okay, until I change directions and the wind is at my face, LOL. Ceejay - I hope you can get the bosses to work out a reasonable schedule for filling in for the absent co-worker - those long hours must be so tough on you!! Maybe someone else wants the overtime $$. Happy - Stay warm and I hope the podiatrist visit today is helpful! Hellos to the rest of the gang. --- Thanks for the congrats on my weight loss, but it's not as impressive as you make it sound (wish it was). It just happens that my weight had spiked up over the summer and at a certain number on the scale, it shocked me into action, LOL. I will say I'm happy that I finally got myself into the brown bag lunch habit. :) As for exercise, after doing a real number on my back this morning (I sure hope this isn't something permanent!), I can't imagine doing much more than laying on the floor and attempting a bridge. No, not even that. I need to take a deep breath and try to relax because stiffening up at every tweak of pain is not going to help me. Didn't do much of anything yesterday except a few loads of laundry and a dog walk. Also did a Walmart run to get some mucinex. Bf has been all into watching the nfl playoff games the past couple weekends. I wasn't in the mood to even pretend to watch yesterday so I just put in some earplugs and flipped through a magazine for a bit (he seems to crank the volume on these games, and they can be so loud with all the stadium/crowd noise). In the evening, a friend of his came over to watch another game and so I retreated into the bedroom to watch the tv in there. Okay, enough rambling, back to work. |
Ceejay - Glad to hear you'll be going to 8 hours. Sounds like too many bosses and not enough worker bees.
|
Oh, Happy, I forgot to say, yes, the book club Saturday that I missed was about the book Room. Have you finished it yet? We might have to schedule a book chat. :)
|
Greetings from the frozen northwoods,
When Michelle was getting ready to go to work, it was -14 up here, -39 if you factor in the wind chill. I was glad to flip the pillow, pull the covers up to my neck and go back to sleep. Going to be cold all day today, don't think it will get out of the subzero temps all day. Glad I can hunker down in the house today and tomorrow. Told DH he may have to sit in the car while I am in the doctor's office just to keep it warm. Sorry to hear about the back Laura. Sometimes that can happen with a cough when you pop a weak spot. Have you tried those icy hot patches you can apply to skin? Those can provide some relief, especially if you don't have the luxury of being able to lay back on an ice pack/heating pad. I also told my coworker once to freeze a water bottle and sit against that which works well if your pain is in the small of your back. Hope you feel better. And no, I did not finish the book yet - I watched 2 episodes of the Abolishionists I recorded as well as a couple of cooking reality shows :o But I'm up for discussing the book. Congrats on getting those pounds off. I think there's a magic number we see on the scale which says - NO MORE. Good for you for the determination to shuck the pounds off! :congrats: DH always said he'd rather have cats over dogs just because you don't have to take cats out in bad weather to exercise them or take them to the potty. A stick with a feather at the end and a litter box is all you need  Ceejay - I'm very glad to hear that they came to your rescue at work and you don't have to put in those long shifts. I agree there comes a time when you just can't do that any more. Since we have moved up north I don't have anywhere near the stuffy nose problems we did down in the south. I think there's just too many allergens down there that you can't get away from. Maybe you need some Ozark mountain air ;) Or the Smokeys are pretty too and as long as you stay away from the campgrounds, they are not so "smokey". Shad - sorry it's come to the point where you've given notice but... as the song says - you gotta know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em. No sense getting all worked up about something you can never quite make right. That's why DH quit the volunteering at the museum. Hopefully you can wrap stuff up quickly and get a new gig going soon. Michelle - good luck with the new/old job. At least you should have minimal orientation  I'm sure the commute was a pistol. No way around that. It's the one good thing about Chicago and being able to take the train instead of driving. Annie - sorry the kids stalled you after you rearranged your day but hopefully they can make fast work of it tonight. Funny how brothers know when to show up just as the food gets to the table. Now you have me wanting Chinese food. :hungry: One cuisine that never quiet comes out as good at home as it does in a restaurant. I've heard it's because of the "well seasoned" woks they use. I still contend that the person who found your new office space is in that job because they find the cheapest space and that is the only criteria. Maybe the trick is that you DON'T make it work. We are often so accomodating to incompetence that the big cheeses figure no worries  - they will make it happen one way or another. :dizzy: Don't let it make you crazy. Mel - so the hot water thing, do they have one central unit that supplies hot water to all the apartments? I can't imagine how that would work. And I certainly would not go door to door because that is just ASKING for the opportunity for people to complain, even if they didn't have a reason to. I'd say that you made a very good decision in giving Ritchie the tools he needed to cook his heart out. And it's easier to cook for 3 than 2. Enjoy the spaghetti - I would not want to live my life without it. Yum!!!! Well I had to retype this whole post because sometimes the touch pad on the laptop goes funky and I lose my whole post. So I'm behind on time, make some lunch, wash a few loads of clothes and it will be time to go to the podiatrist. I hope it's nothing long term or EXPENSIVE to fix. Stay warm chicks... |
ugh. what an afternoon. The chemical truck got here around 3 p.m. and the guys were fixing a water leak. The driver did most of the unloading. He was a good soul. About 4 45 p.m. I noticed one of the elevated tanks taking a dive. Called my boss several times but no answer and no call back so I call my main boss. He finds the leak in th vicinity of the leak earlier.
I'm going to Walmart after work to pick up my new spray that the doctor wants me to try. Think I'm going to lower the thermastat tonight to see if this works first then try the other tomorrow night. |
Morning all,
Mel - see do you first and then I don't forget. Nice that Richie has something to keep him active and busy. Pots and pans - well maybe we should get him on Masterchef and make his life more exciting! Lord knows some of the people we have had on Masterchef over here have gone on to many good things with jobs and sponsorships. Do not go door to door. You have no idea of the germs that might happen for that. Instead put a note under the door asking them to fill in the questionaire. Let them get all the whinges out of the way straight up. Michelle - good luck with the job today although you are probably headed home for a good nights rest. Hope it all went okay. Annie - Sounds like normal at my place, my younger brother usually appears around break time or food time. Sometimes we call him 'blister' since he only seems to come out when the hard work is done. Your Workplace Solutions worker needs to have some solutions applied to him or her. Where was he/she? California or somewhere and only looked at web photos from the real estate company????? Don't they know that they look good on the net and useless in real life? Ceejay - good on the boss for coming up with the solution before you got to him. 12 hour days are only ever workable in small doses - shift rosters we call them over here and there are a variety of them. 6 days on, 2 off. Seven on - 2 off. Or 21 days on and 9 days off. It does go on. The best one I can remember was 2 days on, 2 nights on, 4 days off. Do the maths there and you figure out you really only work for half the year. Downside is that you work regardless of weekends, public holidays, high days and holy days. However they get paid really well (base figure over 75K per year in most places - higher in remote areas) but it does take a toll on family life, body and well being. Laura - hope that pain in the back goes away very soon. It's never fun with one of those. Rest and Ice and gentle continuous movement is just about all you can do with those. Happy - Hope the feet are not expensive to fix. Between eyes, ears, teeth, gut and feet, getting old is not much fun. Didn't realise the DH had given up his volunteer work. Keep warm. Ellen - where are you  Okay so who have I forgotten today. Now I had better go look at putting together some doco for the users. I've been asked to do a short training session on how to do the real basics in SAP to make life easier. I better put a brain in and get on with it. |
Good evening ladies -
Almost time for this chick to say goodnight. I just got home from dinner with my friend. I wanted to let y'all know that the first day back at the new/old job was great! What a nice group of people! I got such a warm welcome back. :) Yay! :) I'll try and post in the morning before work. Much love, |
