This is "In The Kitchen With Mel & Jenny" day!! Jen came down to weigh me in....sadly I am up 2 lbs. Not sure what went wrong. Not enuff water. Maybe the protein shakes and Richie's spaghetti last weekend!! Both of them didn't "move" very fast in the tummy. But moving right along....I am getting prepared for the wekend. We're steaming veggies the kids bought yesterday and the making chicken breasts. Richie's stuff has to be soft. Today is his "tooth grinding" visit for the partial denture plate. He's nervous. Poor sod. Nothing else new here. No one called from the meetings last night. Guess there were no votes needed. I was half asleep anyway. WILL CATCH UP WITH YOU GALS ON & OFF WHILE WE COOK. BE BACK IN A LITTLE BIT. HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE:encore: |
quick post for me....I'm tired today. I did not sleep well last night. I couldn't fall asleep until after 10, then woke up wide awake at 3:30 (1.5 hours early). I think I fell back asleep a little after 4, but was not pleased when the alarm went off an hour later. :( Oh well, it's Friday. I'll try and work in a nap or two this weekend in between doing laundry, hopefully getting the last of the stuff out of the house, and moving the stuff from my storage into my place so i can cancel my storage and save the $50/month.
Mel - I'm sending Richie :goodvibes: and positive energy that his dentist appointment goes well. Don't fret about the small gain. I'll try and post more later. I hope you're all doing well. Much love, |
When I found yesterday's graphic I cracked up.
It was right after I talked to "someone"... in ..."authority". It made me laugh so hard tears were rolling down my face. It's truly what they call perfect timing!!! HA! Jen has the chicken breasts in the pan. YUM!! Happy.....I'd be protesting in or out of the garage!!! :lol3: You had to see the cars out in the parking lot here. Quite a few wouldn't start either. Even Richie's had a tough time and it was only shut off for about 20 minutes!! Your temps just keep shocking me. Ours will be on the rise once these 2 storms pass us by. You made me cringe this morning....and also laugh. Last night I told Jen that I can't wait till summertime. I forgot about the seniors and using the A/C!!!! OMG it just never ends:rofl:  The laugh was squeezing the buffalo!!!!! Haven't heard that for awhile now. Stay warm my Northern friend :flame: Michelle.....Glad the job is going well. Hope you have another good week again!! Laura......... "Problem: Unit doesn't work Solution: Is it plugged in??" OMG I AM CRACKING UP!!!! TOO F*CKING FUNNY!!! When I read that in a manual, you can imagine the blue streak that comes out of my mouth!!! It's usually about that time that I begin yelling at the book!!!  Jen is like your BF. A real joy to ride with in traffic. NOT!!!! To her it's all about being there YESTERDAY!!!: BTW, inactivity does have the advantage of "righting wrongs". So when you begin again....slow and easy wins the race. Think TURTLE THOUGHTS!!! :D With maybe some Spring-like thoughts thrown in!!! Go look at the flowers....it will warm your heart. http://pic.gansudaily.com.cn/0/10/76...774_999131.jpg Shad....Jen & I are sitting here so sorry about the unanswered resignation. They just don't appreciate the ones that DO THEIR JOB RIGHT!!! I am gld you got compliments from the guys & did someone else's job. At least nyou know that was done right!! Hope the weekend brings you peace of mind:hug: Ceejay.....I hope we get our W2's this week too!! Now you're in the cleaning mode, what time should I expect you????:lol3: I cannot tell you how happy I am the new spray works. What is it's name and how is the nose feeling since??? Hoping it continues to do such a great job  Be careful out there on the frozen rain roads!! Annie....THE PACKAGE ARRIVED!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! We will all be reading for a long time. Jen says to keep them till she is done this time. The last time the mags disappeared before anyone had a chance:rofl: OMG I was so surprised when my dear old UPS man arrivced. I was like "WTF is this??" Then he said your name....and I cracked up!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Sorry to hear about your new snow coming. Be careful out there. Also sorry to hear about the HURRY UP & WAIT part of moving. Working out of boxes is a PITA. I also hear ya on C's kids. But Sis is making money so Go For It!!! LOL Praying for ALL our mental healths  :yoga: |
Morning girls,
I had a terrible night. Could not fall asleep then woke up around 3 so hot I couldn't stand it. Got a light blanket and laid back down. I could hear the heat running and I wondered if I forgot to turn the thermostat down last night. Laid in bed tossing and turning, could not get cool or comfortable and my nose was stuffed. Hoped I wasn't getting a cold. Guess I woke up DH because he asked if he woke me up snoring. I said no. Fell asleep for a tiny bit, woke up at 5 again wide awake and too warm. Checked the thermostat, was 63 in the house so it was just me who was warm. Laid in bed for a long time willing myself to sleep. Finally drifted off and woke up to a totally stupid dream of DH mixed with some things I need to do today. But all in the goofy doesn't make sense mix that you get in dreams. My foot is killing me. I'm not sure how I will get through today and tomorrow. I think I am going to have to take my Crocs to work with me. It's snowing outside - we got maybe 2 inches of fine, light snow. Looks pretty from inside the window, probably not so pretty on the road. Mel - I hope you have a fabulous day cooking with Mel and Ritchie. I can understand his reluctance to face the dentist. In those instances I would just tell myself that in 24 hours it will all be over. And give me LOTS of novacaine. Will you be making him a veggie smoothie or macaroni and cheese for supper? Don't worry about the weight gain - spaghetti can do that. Water too. Just stay on plan as best you can. Annie - sounds like your commute was big time hairy today. Glad you made it in ok. I had to roll my eyes at people hurrying up only to work out of boxes and then got a giggle when I saw that it paid off for you to do your packing last. Good to have at your fingertips everything you need especially when your fingers are expected to be everywhere and every place. I see you are one of those Camry lovers. The must do something right for all the loyal ownership. 170,000 miles - that is amazing! We tried a couple of different car makes and had the best track record with Toyota so we have pretty much stuck with them since the early 80's. I can't believe we are approaching 100,000 miles on my 4Runner. Still going strong :crossed: and will be even better when she gets a new battery next week ;) I hope you can get some down time in this weekend - even if it's just a few hours. You've been running fast and hard for a while now. And it appears that you did something right putting the fear of consequences into your kids. That seems to be a key factor in those who behave and those who are just people we roll our eyes at. I'm sorry Sissy has to deal with C's kid's mess. He needs to man up and make her help too. Michelle - glad that you were able to find your missing painting. That's the kind of thing you have to make room for on the moving truck. Something that means alot to you. It's great that you are back in the groove at work - having people you like to work with means so much. Ceejay - hurray for finding a medication that worked. And so fast too! I hope it continues to be your best friend. Hope that freezing rain stayed away from you. That always worried me the most down there. Speaking of rain, sounds like you are in the monsoon season Shad. Forget working on the garden. Guess you will have to find a good book or a friend and spend your long weekend indoors. Hopefully you can get some relaxing in and forget about doco for 3 days. Enjoy. Laura - I hope you get a bonus too. Spend it on tickets to the Flower and Garden show  I miss those - but then again it just fills your head with all sorts of ideas you'd love to do and never will  Argh on BF scratching up the inside of the car. DH did that to my dash with some pipe he was bringing home and didn't notice how it ripped holes in my poor baby  Hope your home office turns out nice. I understand your concerns about the plaster cast for the orthotics but while I was seated the doc kept pressing her thumbs in parts of the underside of my feet which "popped" them back into position. Using that information they put "lifts" into a couple of spots of the over the counter orthotics so it repositioned my foot back to what they called a neutral position. The problem was that they used these thick rubbery "corn pad" type of material to build up the parts of the orthotic. And they don't stick very well so while the underside part holds up, the stuff they put on the top ripped off when it attached to my sock the very first time. So I think custom orthotics would be better for me. But I already spent a bundle on glasses a couple of weeks ago so I think for the interim, I'll hold off on the feet. Thanks for your comments about your experiences with both tho! Enjoy your dinner tonight - sounds yummy! I used to love Ruby Tuesday's crab cakes. Time to hit the shower. This is going to be a LONG sleepy day today. I sort of hope the snow keeps the store quiet. Not dead but quiet. Last Saturday was a pretty busy day and the snow we're getting might bring in the snowmobilers so I'll soak my feet tonight so I can get through tomorrow. Hello to Ellen and Patty. Have a good day peeps. |
MICHELLE....TAKE A GOOD LONG REST THIS WEEKEND.
DO NOTHING IF IT'S NOT JUST FOR YOUR PLEASURE!!:beach: HOPE YOU GET BETTER SLEEP TONITE. FILL YOUR MIND WITH GOOD THOUGHTS. http://media-cache-ec6.pinterest.com...995535_600.jpg |
HAPPY....I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN IT WAS YOU BREATHING DOWN MY NECK!! ROFLMAO
HOPE YOUR NOSE & FOOT FEEL BETTER TODAY AT WORK. SORRY YOU HAVE TO GO OUT IN THAT FOR 2 DAYS. EVEN SORRIER THAT YOU TOO HAD A BAD NIGHT. GOD I HATE BEING TOO HOT WHILE TRYING TO SLEEP. HAVE A GREAT DAY:encore: |
HAPPY you and CHELLE should of been chatting last night, neither of you could sleep. Your poor feet. You need to walk on marshmellows at work. See if you can arrange that one.
MELLIE..you are very welcome for the box of goodies. How do you like those cheap little Humana book lites? Haha. I sent stuff so I wouldn't have to pack it. lol Wish I was there with you and Jen to cook up a storm. My favorite thing to do!! Have loads of fun. CHELLE...try to get some rest this weekend that will carry you over for next week. Relax and enjoy your time. Gotta get back at it....hugs |
The freezing rain did not materialize and I'm so thankful. It's cold at 34 degree's though.
Mel Loved the sunshine smilie. It brought a bit of sunshine to my face also. Sending good vibes to Richie today for his visit to the dentist. The name of the new spray is Dymista. Michelle Sorry you had a bad night, too much stress in you life right now. Sleep late in the morning or take some naps along the way this week end. Happy I hear those crock shoes are really comfy. My co-worker wears them all the time. Did the podiatrist give you anything to take for the arthritis? I'll be back later to finish reading the posts. --------- I made myself ride the bike last night for 15 minutes. I felt better for it My weight is going beyond 200 pounds and I'm not liking it. Some of it's fluid but most of it is food. I really need to cut back on my snacking. I need a schedule. I want to go to Walmart to get some banker boxes to put some things in to take to Goodwill next week end. I'm kind of at dilemma stage right now concerning a couple of items. My niece crocheted my mom an affigan. I don't need it and don't want to keep it. She gave it to me after mom passed away. I don't know what do with it. She's probably forgotten about it. I may ask my sister if she could use it at her condo. Or maybe one of her kids could use it. I also have an old quilt of my grandma's. Grandma made and quilted it. It's close to a 80 years old and in good condition. I'd like to keep the quilt but really don't have room for it. Guess I'll keep these two items until I can find a home for them. My sis may want the quilt for her condo. She likes vintage stuff The main thing I want to do today is get the printer hooked up. I'm hoping my dell printer is compatible to my HP computer. |
Happy - Bummer that you have to go out to work in the cold. I was calculating roughly how many more weeks of winter (my final winter in Wisconsin) there are today on the way to work (I figure around 12-13 at most). :) I hope you're feeling better today (nose and feet both). I had difficulty sleeping last night, but I wasn't too hot or too cold. Too much swirling around in my head.
Ceejay - Santa doesn't let me sleep in too late on the weekends. But he does like to take naps. :) Annie and Mel - hope you're having a good day so far! |
Morning all. TGIF!!!
Shad - I'm glad you at least felt a sense of achievement over the doco/training items, and it was recognized by others. Now enjoy your long weekend, and a Happy Australia Day to you early. :) Use the rainy weather to take a breather and enjoy some quiet time at home. :rain: Ceejay - If you're still in cleaning mode, head on up here to my place - it sure needs cleaning~! We're constantly wiping up the trail of drips Coal leaves from his water bowl to elsewhere in the house. And now that we've had snow he manages to track in mud from somewhere in the yard. We try to close off the 3 season room so we can wipe his paws after he comes in from outside before going in the house, but if we haven't closed the door all the way, he nudges it open w/ his nose and goes in with muddy paws. Oh, and then there's the door and frame to be cleaned from the snooty goo he leaves there...a neverending battle, as all pet owners (well, certainly dog owners) are well aware! I'm so glad the nasal spray is working for you! Mine's a once-a-day thing, so yours must be a new product. Annie - Well, at least you're not going to be working out of boxes for another month! But it would still be a letdown of sorts to get all geared for moving and then not have it happen for 4 weeks. And I hope the packing you did do doesn't get undone in that time... As for C's house being left in a mess by the daughter - she should be ashamed of herself. At least your dd gets to earn some money cleaning it. I hope C's daughter gets cut off and is forced to act like a grown-up now. Ugh, your commute sounded about as awful as it was here. Not much snow here, but the timing - right during the morning rush - messed things up royally. But my train was on time! :D Mel - Glad you're getting your food prepared - can you come over and help us out now? Actually, thanks for the memory jog - we have some chicken breasts in the freezer that we should thaw for tonight or tomorrow. Poor Richie, "tooth grinding" just sounds awful! Hope he is well-anesthetized and gets good pain pills for after. He'll be the one needing the protein shakes! BTW - don't worry about the weight gain, just guzzle some water and drink some hot tea and if you're watching your portions you'll be good to go. You're right, when I start back to exercising I'm going to have to start slow - feels like forever since I've done more than walk to the train and walk the dog. Is there any exercise benefit to coughing? The muscles definitely contract! :p Love the flower pic today - you're right, I'm probably gonna go to the flower/garden show and get an early taste of spring. :):flow1: Michelle - Sorry you didn't get a good night's sleep last night. But just one more day and you can take it easy and get those naps! Hope you get the last of your stuff moved from the house and the storage unit. Once it's in your apartment with you, it'll be front and center and opportunities for more purging will become evident. We're going to have several pieces of our old office furniture to get rid of and we really should get it on craigslist very soon! Saturday's are the best - that's when people get on CL and shop. Happy - Awww, another Worldly who didn't get a good night's sleep. :( How annoying to be uncomfortable. If that happens (thankfully, not frequently) and I don't have to work the next day, I usually just give up on sleep. I leave the bedroom and go read my book or watch tv. If I'm lucky, I'll eventually get drowsy and fall back asleep. Good idea to bring another pair of shoes to work. Just switching shoes sometimes brings some relief. Are you taking anything for the pain? Yes, I've decided I will go to the flower/garden show. You're right, the bad part of going is getting great ideas that when it comes to implementing in our own yard, they just feel like so much work on top of the struggle to just keep weeds at bay and everything watered. But it's getting easier to just see this as a nice respite from winter and enjoy the beauty and creativity. If I'm lucky, the afternoon I decide to go to the show is at least sunny, and it's a nice walk along Navy Pier to nearly the end where the expo hall is. If it's too cold, I can duck inside and then back out again. Mellie said to think TURTLE thoughts, so hello to Java Mary!! :D And hellos to Ellen and Patty too! Have a great weekend ladies! :spin::spin::spin::spin::spin::spin: After much trouble, the overhead office cabinets have been installed. None of them fell off the wall overnight, so I think we're good to go. ;) This weekend we'll be transferring files from our old file cabinets into the new ones and finding new homes for previously orphaned items that sat around on the floor and in bins and boxes. It'll be nice to have sufficient worksurface space on which to place all the electronic equipment and storage for files and supplies. Watched more Downton last night. I finished my book yesterday, so I'll probably head to the library for another this weekend. No other special plans this weekend, but the house is in need of cleaning and the "community" laundry (sheets/towels/etc.) has piled up, so that needs doing. Housework - it never ends! I'm taking a vacation day on Monday because I have a doctor appointment right around mid-day. Finally my gyn exam, which I believe I will phone them today to confirm because of the mix-up last time. I'm scheduled with a new doc in the same group I've been with for all these years, and at an office close to home, so I hope I like both. Enough rambling. :blah: Back to work. So glad it's Friday - it's been a rough week with my back, the weather, my cough...bleh. But it could be so much worse, so I'll count my blessings. :) |
CEEG...I have many of moms afghans she crocheted. I just cannot let go of them. I am a sap tho. Surely someone in your family will want the keepsakes.
LAURA...here is to feeling better next week. You reminded me I need to schedule my gyn appt. Blah. Getting your office area organized will make you feel better. |
