Got in the C25K program, with an added walk. I do it outside and was making longer strides... so when I hit halfway, I kept going same direction down the dirt road. Then when I did turn, realized how far I went so took a few extra minutes in 95 degree weather to get home  That made the heart work harder, so I do have to watch that. However, felt awesome!
|
i feel like i dodged a bullet tonight lol...cravingggg ice cream like none other...i know its because TOM is a day away and my calories were already a little high for the day....we went to the store for a HUGE tub of ice cream, because all 3 kids and DH like to eat it...i also bought one of those little "milkshake in a pint" things that u just add milk to...and i ate a few bites of the tub of ice cream and actually turned my nose up at it LOL which is odd...it just wasnt what i wanted...so i blended my little milkshake for 250 calories and it was exactly what i wanted....so i feel like i satisfied my huge craving without falling headfirst into a tub of ice cream/endless calories....
im also a fan of satisfying my cravings with EXACTLY what i want to eat....because i know myself and if i crave something, if i eat something else i still crave it, so i'll eat something ELSE and it wont work, repeat on end...until i finally cave to what im craving....and end up consuming massive amounts of calories when it would have been LESS calories to just eat the darn thing to begin with....and then my craving is over and i never want any more the tub of ice cream is still in the fridge and everyone ate some....i didnt eat any more of it....i wont tomorrow, or the day after....i satisfied my craving, it was 250 calories, and im done....but i feel like i BARELY avoided a nosecrash into that tub lol EDIT: and when i say 3 kids im including the 18 year old who moved in with us....plus i also have a 14 year old and a 6 year old, all boys |
I posted my flat belly food plan on MFP food diary for the next 3 days, if anyone is interested in trying it with me.
I guess the big thing is not to use added salt, and all spices with sugar added is out. I think I will just sprinkle garlic powder or curry or paprika on my grilled items. I will brush olive oil on before grilling. Monosaturated fats are encouraged. I really enjoy this Sassy water, though :D BTW, the crock pot meal was amazing last night. Everyone loved it, and so easy to make. |
Quote:
So while you are melting away belly fat, I will be indulging in mexican food  |
Sum - Great job getting to business with belly fat melting! I hope you find it to be effective!!! Glad to hear everyone liked last night's crock pot meal - so it will help you AND taste good... win-win!
Jo - Does the child not like ALL mexican food or just most? I fall into the category of not liking most, but... I do like some mexican food. Although down here I am surrounded by it  Finished off last night with Bootcamp Abs with the 2 oldest kidlets. So today I am more tan for hanging by/in the pool a lot of the weekend during our triple digit weather, and feeling invinsible physically for doing cardio and core yesterday :) Woot! Great way to start my Monday |
Super Adrenaline Rush woke me up at 1400 (2pm).
It's going to make for a VERRRRRRY Looooong night  I hate I told our head nurse (HN) I would work tonight. I have so much to do. My girlfriends are texting me--super excited about the upcoming weekend--just really ready to run. Godspeed Healing for my toe! We're almost there!! :woohoo: |
Where is everyone today?
I got in a great workout on the elliptical of all things. No walk today so I decided to start with HIIT and just went from there. Felt great, worked some diff muscles because I felt like J-E-L-L-O by the time I was done. Still do a little. Well, I was wrong, TOM has not come early. Still waiting. I have the notorious headache today and was crampy yesterday, so I expect either tonight or tomorrow, right on time. Just when I thought I knew it all. I popped over to MFP to check on calories/carbs in quinoa and just decided to go ahead and log today, what the heck, I feel like it today. DS has a track meet today, about 50 minutes out of town, so I will stop eating at about 3:30 and try to complete a 24 hour fast til tomorrow. I may do this on Tues/Wed for the next 6 weeks, just to jive with the track meet days. Not sure what day my other 24 hour will be, if I do a second one. I have been playing around with making greek yogurt ice cream and it is soooooo yummy. Here is the link I have been working from, but I have been doing strawberry and honey. I used my blender instead of a food processor. Tastes like soft serve fro-yo. http://www.anediblemosaic.com/?p=6328&cpage=1#comments Today I am going to mix one package of FF/SF pudding mix to 1 quart yogurt and freeze it. Then I will put cocoa nibs in while processing and maybe some nuts. Yummmmmmm. I have been writing down all kinds of ideas of mix ins and flavors I want to try. |
Okay, I wasn't done, but at least it posted above instead of losing my post!!!!
Sum, how is the diet/menu going? I haven't looked at your mfp diary to see how it is going. K9, you must be getting very excited! Glad to hear the toe is almost there! I hope you can update us this weekend! Star, DS doesn't like the taste of anything mexican, I think it is the cumin flavor or something. He doesn't even like nacho chips or taco bell, what American teenager doesn't like taco bell???? There is one meal that is a favorite of his that I tease him about because it is mexican, but he loves it and that is mexican stuffed shells. But the recipe is very simple, just browned ground turkey, corn, black beans and salsa, stuffed into jumbo pasta shells and baked with cheese on top. Only think I can think of is that there aren't those overwhelming mexican seasonings in that, just salsa. I really don't know how I produced a kid that hates mexican food, I would eat it a couple times a week if I could. Give me a margarita to wash it down with and I am a happy, happy girl :) Alaskan, good job avoiding that ice cream, maybe you would like the greek yogurt fro-yo! |
Happy Tuesday :sunny:
So my 3 day flat belly cure turned into 1 :( -- It is PMS time and I want to eat everything in sight. I broke down and had chips and guacamole (Thanks Jo :lol3:) I am just sick of thinking about food and how to eat and what NOT to eat. I want to be 125 pounds, right now, size 4/6 and have chips and salsa a few times per month without feeling guilty. I just feel so "done" and burned out. Must be TOM talking. -- I am seriously thinking about getting that tummy tuck done. I like my legs and my arms are getting thinner, but having some fat removed from my belly would really make a huge difference in my life. -- One of my friends think that I am totally vain for even thinking about it ....but this belly is just depressing me beyond belief. I was going to take a day off from walking but my belly felt huge and bloated and I still wanted to reach for food so I dragged myself out there as a distraction. I am glad I did...maybe I burned 6 of those chips off...hehe! It lifted my mood a bit as well, it is hard to stay depressed when nature is so beautiful and sun is shining. I am have sooo thirsty today. I am amazed how some days I struggle getting down 48 oz of water and like today I have already drained 100oz. -- And I have barely used the potty :o I fear when I am at my self defense class tonight, I will be running to bathroom every 10 minutes. Jo Sounds like you are giving TOM a good kick in it's butt with that eliptical, good girl!! -- That greek yogurt ice cream sounds heavenly!! I talked to P about a month ago getting a yogurt maker. Funny thing, Finland out of all places, has the best dairy products. There is a mail order company out of Canada that sells starter kits for different yogurts and many of them come from Finland. -- One yogurt I really miss is called Bulgarian yogurt, it is kinda like greek yogurt but thicker and creamier. Now you gave me that idea back....plus making own yogurt would save a ton of $, atleast in this household where we seem to consume gallons of it per month. AND I could control what goes in and make it all organic. Krystal :woohoo: I am excited for you. I am so proud of you as well. You did it!! The race is almost here. Do you feel that your muscles are rested? Star I was sooo jealous when I read about your weekend by the pool and hot weather. -- You sound so happy and strong and healthy!!! Where is Larry? :( Alaskan I keep those milkshakes as well in my freezer....I also started keeping the skinny cow icecream bars as well, they are tasty and usually one will curb my craving. |
I feel like a :moo:
I look like one too & I have the weight of a small one! 151!!! WTF??? I hate having to be a slave to counting calories! TOM reared his ugly head on Sunday. I had one of the worst nites at work last night. I won't even go there. Stress Stress Stress! Came home and stress ate my way to sleep--1/2 box of child-like cereal later and I was out for 6 hrs! I hate what I have become. This is pure madness. I have worked to hard to gain all this weight back. This dang toe cannot heal quickly enough & I have zero control over food, as I am just thinking about food all the d@mn time. |
I hear you Krystal!! I am afraid to step on that scale because I fear that mine, as well, will be in 150's
We just all need to meet up and have a few drinks and cut loose! |
Quote:
I'll buy a round for everyone  |
Krystal - I am so glad you are so excited, but you have to remember to sleep  How's the healing process going?
Jo - Jello after a workout is a good feeling!!! All those muscles feeling all weird and knowing you worked them hard :D Super great job!!!! I find it hard to believe your DS doesn't like any mexican... but I am so with you on the margarita!! :P Sum - Sure sounds like TOM is wreaking havoc on your emotions.. hope it passes fast for you. As far as being vain and wanting a tummy tuck? My opinion is: you should do what YOU want to feel good about YOURSELF. If you can afford the procedure and don't mind going through it, if YOU want to have it done.. then you should go for it. You are busting your tail to feel good about yourself, if that last bit is what you need to finish the job, then that is YOUR choice and not up for their opinions to matter ;) Just my two cents As far as being happy, and feeling healthy and strong - I really do. I have days where my flares happen and I no longer let them get me down; I am determined to keep the exercising up until my body behaves  I was talking to my mom on the phone the other day and telling her how nice it is to lounge by the pool and not be self-conscious around the kiddos - how awesome it is to look back and see how far I have come in just a year :) I am so glad you can hear it through my posts too! Larry - You seemed to have disappeared again. Hope you are ok!!! As for me - had "one of those days" at work today. Going to be honest, it really gets my goat and tenses me up when that happens. I wasn't going to do the walking today cause it was so hot out (99 when I got home), but due to the stress, and my original fur boy begging to go out early... I had it. I took him alright and instead of our normal mile track... I took him 2 miles and ran him a half mile of it  I think it made us both feel better - though he hasn't stood up much since  I still have Ab Bootcamp to do tonight too - so will be a good calorie burn day for me. Have a super night! |
Isn't it true that we are all just a body of complainers!! I find this true among most people--myself included!!
Star: I really wish you all would send some of that heat wave EAST!!! It has been in the 50s and 60s here and in the 40s at night. The high Saturday in Nashville is supposed to be 82, but it will NOt be that at 7am. It will be more like 55  I went to Goodwill and bought a jacket to toss b/c I know I going to be cold. Kristiina: I have to echo Star's advice about the tummy tuck. It sounds to others like the easy way out, but let them think whatever they want. It's your body! Feel good in the skin you're in! Isn't that a commercial somewhere? Jo & Alaskan & Larry & Lurkers  AFM: I'm up early getting ready to go on an overnight camping trip. I am INSANE!! This sounded like a fabulous idea last week when I was laid up on the couch, but this week--it is a disastrous plan. I have so many things I needed to do before Nashville. Working Monday put me out BIG TIME! Ok, so I know we were all gung ho for stopping all that darn logging of food, but I must admit, I HATE HATE HATE 151. I hate 150. On February 18, I was 141!!! WTH happened? Binging? Spiking? IDK, but I have got to do something to get this groove back together & quickly! Tahoe is 3 weeks away! Did I mention my niece is graduating nursing school May 11? We are having a huge party for her May 12 & we fly May 13 to Tahoe. Then, **BAM** summer is here! Let the pool parties begin :swim: I'm rambling…. I'm extremely depressed over this 150 mark. Maybe I should join the "Depression & Weight Loss" support group. OMG…did I say that aloud???? |
Quote:
Thank you for this link!! I intend to try this one really soon :) |
Okay girls, we have to remember it is just PMS talking and that weight on the scale is the bag of water that comes with it. This too shall pass (spin that ring Kristiina). We will get through this and back on the weight loss train :grouphug:
Sum, I just made my first (successful) homemade greek yogurt last week and I love, love, love it. I plan to make another batch today or tomorrow from a bit of the last batch, and so on and so forth. And yes, that way you can use organic milk, with as much fat milk as you want and I am finding out you can control the sourness of it by how long you let it incubate too. I found this site the most helpful, but there are all kinds of different methods if you google it. http://www.salad-in-a-jar.com/skinny...e-greek-yogurt As for the tummy tuck, you know I am all for it. I would be in the bed next to you if I could, me and my messed up belly  K9, camping now? You make me tired just thinking about your week! Star, I hope work is better to you today. Way to take it out on the fur boy though  |
Krystal - Acck! I am so sorry to hear of the 150s. You were the one that figured out how to break your long plateau though, so no doubt you will figure this out. I am betting it's muscle replacement - afterall, you have gotten abs since and it took muscle tone to lift the hiney to the perfect spot like you did. Just a thought. I would gladly send you some of our heat here - have a feeling it's going to be a brutal summer. Today is supposed to be cooler, then tomorrow they are calling for high 70's and rain (that's cold)... but then back up again. I will take it though, my family in Maine just got snow :O I don't have to shovel the sunshine :)
Jo - all you all are going to be finishing your TOM and I am just about to start. Not looking forward, but so far have been able to hold on to my positivity (when usually I am paranoid depressant,) Sum - Alaskan - |
Another insane eating day for me  I wonder if there is any sort of medicine that could help with PMS cravings?
I am fasting today. I feel hungry...crazy because I am sure I ate 3000 calories yesterday. It will be a loooong day, but this cycle has to stop. I will check back later with personals.... |
ate well today....went to the gym today....solved 4829 arguments amongst kids at work today, doled out some consequences and sent one child home early for bad behavior/violence
made a crockpot stew that everyone loved...meted out more consequences to the teenager who thinks he can get away with stuff....attended the board of directors meeting for an education organization that i participate on cleaned the kitchen....put the littlest bug to bed and now i can sit down for the day my feet hurt |
How's my bloated group of friends doing today?
I am just alright. I am on day 2 of TOM, I slept like poopola last night and I still feel watered down. Other than that, I am good ;). Got my walk in, but that will probably be it for today. Just gonna get done what I need to and let the day lead me where it does. A nap may be in order. I made my 24 hr. fast yesterday, ended at 2:00pm. Today, I will just eat normal and maybe try to get a somewhat shorter fast in again tomorrow. I hope they are doing me some good, because I still eat the same amount of calories so it doesn't work for me that way. I know the reason some people fast is to cut down on the calories. I seem to eat the same amount whether I fast or not  I have some new pics I want to post, but don't have the energy right now. Hope everyone is hanging on, riding out this wave. |
Woo-Hoo TOM is here  Krystal 151 for me this morning as well  I feel like :moo: I had to remove my wedding rings last night because I was afraid they were going to cut circulation, I am sooo bloated. -- Cravings are gone now tho :woohoo: so once this bloat leaves, maybe I will be back down to 148.
I have not walked for 2 days, I just did not feel like it. My hip hurts and I thought by taking a few day break could do some good. P will be home tonight and I am sure he wants to walk with me each day for the next 3 days. -- Welcome home honey  ... hehe; he may wanna walk out because both of his ladies are under the spell of TOM. :D (My poor son, who can not escape). Jo I slept poorly as well, I was soooo HOT! I had to wash my sheets today :( mid 40's really SUCK! Part of my higher weight could be the fact that I drank 1 liter bottle of water last night. I kept waking up parched! -- Congrats on your fast!! Do you think it is getting easier? -- I ate today until 12 noon and I am fasting till 12 noon tomorrow. Like I said, my insane cravings are gone.... Now I think I can do my flat belly cure diet. Wanna join me? Alaskan solved 4829 arguments amongst kids at work today... not 4831? Hehe! You go girl! Krystal I am sorry for the 151!! maybe once this race is over you can eat lighter and less carbs. -- But 151 just sucks!! Is your toe ready to run the race? I will keep thinking about you all day on the 28th. What time do you start running? You will get loads of positive vibes from me  Star Any relief on the heat front? Well I am off to take a shower and make myself looking all pretty for my hubby :) After 20 years of marriage, my heart still takes an extra beat when he gets home. Esp. when he has been gone for 3 nights. I missed him!!! |
im at work getting ready for my students....i didnt work out this morning, instead i went on a field trip with my son's kindergarten class to the sealife center in town...was a fun trip and he likes it when i do things with his class...i was REALLYYYY tempted not to go because i WANTED my gym time LOL but his field trips are so rare that i decided it was more important to go with him, just for today
|
Alaskan: You are the 2nd busiest person i know!!
Kristiina & Jo: TOM has left the building!! Thank the Lord!! Star: I'm still awaiting a heat transfer! As reported on MFP: My toe is 96% now..almost completely well--THANK YOU DR. APPLING! This excerpt from an email sent to me by one of my MFP friends: "...My first full marathon was the country music. We stood in the corrals during the most torturous storm. Water was up to our ankles & we were soaked. The race was delayed for over an hour while storm passed. Rain stopped & sun came out in full force. It was awful! About mile 18 they were handing out ziplocs full of ice & water. I was so depleted. And sunburned!!! Yuck! I survived...barely, and went on do do 2 more marathons. Have no desire to do country music again since the weather is so unpredictable this time of year." When it rains here, it's not just a little morning shower..it's effin torrential storms! So completely unpredictable too. Complete flooding followed by tornadoes....especially this time of year. As a matter of fact, I'm surprised we haven't had one yet! :crossed: that we don't!! More later. I'm packing.....AGAIN! Oh, and our camping trip was just horrid with 50-65mph wind gusts with a effin wind advisory both days :tantrum: DH and I came home early & he didn't even get to fish!! |
lol i like to be busy :) it was a good day at work, eating has been well...veggies n cheese for dinner, a little later will have a small protein shake...im home with the boys tonight, DH is going out to ride his motorcycle for awhile
tomorrow is a usual friday....running the boys around, working, etc...saturday is a work day for my teenager...who got in trouble he stole a LOT of money from his brother's piggybank and lied about it....i explained some things that scared him, such as what happens when teenagers commit crimes, police, juvenile court etc etc and how they have to do community service hours to make up for their crimes...and then i assigned him a community service day of helping do yard work for a friend of mine who is pregnant with twins and has no one to do those things for her hope i handled it right *sigh* |
Quick post before I head out:
Today's wt: 149 Happy about that. Spoke to a MD yesterday, who affirmed my knowledge that I can't be medicated for underactive thyroid, even with "low end of normal". It has to be something else. I also have Iron-Deficiency Anemia. I inherited it from my mom. Perhaps that's the culprit. Moving on to the race: As I have told you all before, I live in tornado alley it seems! The south is known for torrential rain, flooding, and tornadoes! As a result, there was a tornado south of Nashville last night, in the town of Franklin. I have relatives there--one of whom is running the 1/2. There is NOT supposed to be that type of activity today or tomorrow :crossed: NO RAIN!!! I'm super hyper :hyper: as are all of my friends that are participating. There is 5 of us in all, with 2 other girls going to volunteer at the Finish Line! 7 ladies together for a post-race party!! I can hardly wait :) I hope you all are doing well. I miss you guys! It's not the same not sharing everything with you, but I will update more as I can!! Happi Friday :flow1: Race Time: April 28, 7am CST |
I cannot believe it is Friday already!
Krystal, GOOD LUCK! Sending good vibes your way :hyper: |
its the end of friday for me :) cleaned house this morning, worked out this morning, weighed in at 192.4 after my workout, which is a NEW LOW (!) for me...hope it sticks around...but ive seriously NEVER seen that low of a weight in my entire adult life
also on the field trip yesterday i could walk down the aisle of a school bus without having to wiggle my hips around to get through, my hips didnt even touch the seats by a long shot!! so that was cool :D busy at work with very little staff today....went to a bonfire tonight and ate fresh-caught baked salmon which probably put me a little over on calories but it was very healthy |
:hyper: RACE DAY :hyper:
.... :woohoo: .... |
I woke up at 6:55 am, and my first thought was you Krystal!!!
Good luck girlfriend!!!! |
Krystal - Good luck!!!! Kick some butt!!! You should have gotten the heat I sent you, it even cooled here because I sent so much
In the middle of TOM and still down on scale this week. By gory, I think I got this figured out! |
Krystal should be done by now  I can't wait to hear about it. So proud of you!!!
I am getting sick :( I felt it coming on last night, somehow I always get a stiff neck and back. And I was really cold. Cam had a DH, and I sat at the field from 3;30-8:30 pm, and I was miserable by the time we got home. Weather was cold!! He was supposed to have another DH today, but it was cancelled; I did a happy dance  A good thing about feeling off; I am not hungry at all  I will take weight loss any way it comes. I was 150 pounds this morning :( Pound less than yesterday, but 5 pounds more where I would like to be at right now. So it will be a couch day for me. About to watch a movie; Up In The Air. I hope everyone is having a fab day  |
Star That is awesome!!! :carrot::carrot: Send some :dust: our way!
You have really busted your butt! |
Kristiina - Sitting and being miserable through a double-header doesn't sound pleasant at all, but glad you are taking the cue from your body and taking it easy.
:dust: for all!!!!! Thank you by the way, after having plateaued so very long, this has been the best feeling 2 weeks! My son has his gf over swimming now, so lots of activity. My youngest isn't in the pool, but the rest are :) It's gorgeous out and only supposed to be low 90s today, so perfect to be out! |
krystal did awesome on her marathon!!!!
|
slow thread this weekend :)
was a busy saturday like usual, running errands, grocery shopping etc....worked out today...towards the end of the evening i started getting a bad headache which is unusual...had some water, had some Bayer, still not much better...proud of myself for resisting the junk food...i had a banana and some lettuce with raspberry vineiagrette and then i felt better...im also veryyyy tired so im going to bed next younger son has his cousin over for the night...older son has a friend over for the night...and the newest "son" is also here...and amazingly it's quiet!! lol but half of them are asleep i'll be up in the morning to run newest son to work, then i have alot of laundry to do....if the weather is nice i've mapped out a route on the backroads for an 8-mile bike ride...if it's cloudy, windy or rainy i wont be bike riding...and the chances of rain are always high as we live in a rainforest after all lol |
Good Morning :sunny:
Scale rewarded me 140's today. I was sure that I never had to see 150's again... kinda made me  So now that TOM is here, I can focus on my eating for the next 2 weeks, and I am going to try my hardest to get down to 145. -- Now insane eating is over, and I think the peak of my moodiness happened yesterday. :boxing: So I am ready to focus. Jo I AM doing the 3 day belly fat cure; Mo,Tu and Wed. Wanna join me this week? I am fasting today until 4 pm or so (22h fast). -- I know you want to fast on Tuesdays-Wednesdays, but maybe you could do it Mon, Tue and Thrs? I am still feeling a bit sick; I have aches and pains on my muscles and joints and just general malaise. We have a FUN party to go to. Yesterday was Dutch Queen's birthday and her last name is Orange. Each year my Dutch friends throw a party where we all dress in orange and bring orange food and drinks. Party starts at 4 so I will fast until then. I won't drink anything. :dizzy: which will be a challenge with my crazy friends around. I hope all of you are enjoying this gorgeous Sunday! |
Alaskan - SOunds like you have a housefull :)
Sum - So happy to hear of the drop in weight again. Seems as though you are trying to bite off a bunch, not sure I could refrain from the drinking around my crazy friends, so wishing you tons of luck there!!! As for me, got on the scale to find it down even more!!! Almost a full pound more gone and I am in awe! All I did was eliminate the highly refined/processed grains such as muffins and breads... and now after so many months it is coming off! I had read that those of us with immune-deficiency diseases could have issues without eliminating those things and figured it was worth a shot. Never in my wildest did I expect it to work though! Krystal - Awesome job! Saw your numbers on MFP and was sooooo happy for you!!!! Have a great rest of the weekend all! |
Star; that is FAB!!!
Please read a book called "Wheat Belly". It has some great info. |
Sum - Thank you for the suggestion, I will look into that :) You ladies rock!
|
Just checking in after a long off plan weekend, oy.
Still haven't dared the scales, but will face them this week some time. Shouldn't be too bad with TOM gone now, but still probably won't be good either :dizzy:. I decided yesterday enough is enough. It is time to finish this thing already. I can do this and for some reason I keep getting in my own way. Of course this is really easy to say right after TOM  |
