Hey guys, just dropping in to say I will be hit or miss now as we will be out of town til later tomorrow.
Gonna do my best to stick to my plan for the next couple days :crossed: |
Sum - It's amazing all you do and the fact you are not a rail! :)
Alaskan - Way to try something new! Great job! If it's not for you, that's ok... you are willing to try new things and find out what fits you best and that is key :D Larry - Great news that the scale held tight with the sodium!!! Your awareness always helps you though :) Jo - Enjoy your time out of town!!! As for me - have another 4.2 miles added towards my goal today :) That puts me totally on schedule! :carrot: It's amazing me that I am staying on task with this and all else I am juggling. Setting it as a "goal" and putting it in writing really has helped a TON. Later today is the cake celebration for my daughter's bday (hard to believe my youngest has officially entered teen years... not right), then hoping for Bootcamp Abs with my girls :) That's the plan!! |
i have been on the go all day today! its sunny and in the low 50s here, which is springtime and warm for alaska! took younger son to the community easter egg hunt this morning, then did the bills, grocery shopped, recycling etc...lots of errands...
bought myself a good pair of running shoes as well as a sports bra that should FIT, my old one is way to big now lol... am finally sitting down for a bit..i'd like to take my new shoes to the gym but i also have a huge DEEP blister on my foot from my old shoes, i got some moleskin to keep over it so that i can walk without pain...a bandaid wasnt helping LOL...might go for a bike ride instead also, not sure...bike riding isnt much of a sweat-inducing workout though lol dying easter eggs tonight...already have dinner marinading for later...been a busy day |
You guys were chatty while I was away! it!!
I will attempt personals in a bit, but I'll update you all on my weekend first. Thursday I drove alone to a neighboring city on my way to the river for shopping. It was nearing lunch time, so of course, I had to have :jeno: ! I mean, the good Lord forbid me eating something like veggies! (although, I did have veggie :jeno: ) Doesn't count!! I decided to stay at a motel instead of camping, secondary to rain! It seems like every time we get ready to go somewhere lately, there is rain or wind prohibiting our efforts! :tantrum: No big deal to me. I decided to run hills in town instead--2 miles of them. Doesn't seem like alot, but they were straight up and straight down, like a roller coaster! I had dressed for Memphis weather and not Ozark weather, which SUCKED! I was FRIGID! I ran in a coat and long pants, which was uncomfortable, b/c I didn't have the correct cold-temp running attire. Friday Got up early for a 4 miler. Went and bought a pair of leggings at Wal-Mart (I HATE Wal-Mart), but that is the only store they have there & it is very small--not a superstore. I also bought a muff for my head/ears. It was 40F. I have been used to running in 70-80F & came prepared to run for these temps--compression shorts, running skirts, sleeveless tops! It was a miserable 4 miles! When I finished, I did the Core Challenge in the parking lot of an abandoned bank where I had parked my Jeep for the run. The town was deserted at 9am, so I was basically alone. Results: Plank 1 time @ 80 sec 2 times @ 75 sec with 100 high knees skips in between each Plank This was much more like a routine I would normally do!! Saturday Took River on a walk through one of the local parks--even though we have 1.4 acres right on the river. I like walking in parks. She likes chasing the squirrels. It's a win-win! I didn't really do and R&R. My mind is racing with this 1/2 Mary 3 weeks away. I am having strong reservations about it, especially with all of the JUNK I have been eating and craving! I can remember in times past when I coached C25K, I would remind myself that I had to run 3 times a week and junk was not an option. I was a strong, fit runner. I trained 3x/week. I told myself over and over and over, so that I could train other women to do the same thing! It was highly effective! So, I've been examining my health overall, especially since I told you all about that "Eat for your body type" website. I have been thinking I have an under-active thyroid for a while, but a month or so ago, I had it checked and the #s came back on the low end of normal. At first, I thought, "Well, it's normal, so that's not the problem." However, the more I have been reading and the more I symptomatic I am becoming, the more I have taken a pro-active approach to doing something about it. My Symptoms Include: Water Retention, especially around TOM Infertility Constipation, unrelieved unless medicated via psyllium powder & a colon cleanse capsule Extreme coldness of the extremities, even when it's warm outside or inside Extreme Fatigue, especially in the afternoons--requires napping most days. Also, still feeling tired despite adequate rest. Inability to lose weight (even before I started this :jeno: kick a month ago) Extremely Dry Hair & Skin with significant hair loss Hypothermia & Low Blood Pressure Dry Eyes & Headaches daily Increasing Sadness Since I know western med MDs don't medicate unless "clinically indicated", I have ruled out being put on a synthetic thyroid medication. (Not that I would rush right out and buy it anyway) So, as a first step, I bought a homeopathic thyroid support supplement. I am very optimistic with the addition of this product & will try it for a month to see if it works for me. (Gaia Thyroid Support) This could be the break I desperately need 3 weeks before the race! :crossed: |
:easter2: . . . to each of you! |
Alaskan: :yay: for new running accessories!! If you continue to have issues with blisters, I HIGHLY recommend better socks! I paid $14 for 1 pair  I have never had a $14 pair of socks, but I have no more blisters and they were worth every cent!!
Stick to your guns on going to the gym. It's frustrating when our families can't get on the same page as we are with our fitness goals. My family isn't too keen on mine either. We can't go to this restaurant or that one. I choose to run or workout at weird times..blah blah blah. I get one body! This is it! Make the most of it!!! Praying for you and your family with all of the repairs. Star: :celebrate: Happy Birthday :celebrate: to your daughter. I hope you all have had a fun birthday weekend! Larry:  you came back just in time to encourage me, lift me up, and remind me why I pursue my goals. Thank you so much for all the words of encouragement!! I needed that so much! Hopefully, the weight will continue to trend down for you. You have been seduced in this range before, only to be sabotaged by water weight! :crossed: that Easter dinner does not bring bad food to your table!! :yay: on getting clearance from the Optometrist! Kristiina: There is no way I could plant all those veggies! My mom just told me she bought a ridiculous amount of blackberry & strawberry plants, not to mention all of the 'usual' veggies they have every year! Gardening is hard work! Kuddos to you!! :congrat: on March's Results. At least your results faired much better than my 7 lb GAIN! Rather it is water, muscle, inflammation, whatever--it is extra abdominal weight and it BLOWS! Jo: I will attempt to add Kristiina's challenge to this week, since I was unable to complete it this past week. :yay: on needing new scrubs!! What was your previous job? I don't think I ever asked you this! I don't watch Idol, so I can't commie on the Kelly idea. However, please don't get to a 'zero'!! This weight is just not cute on many people, imo. |
i wore my new running shoes today around the house, just to get a feel for them before i try to walk on the treadmill with them...i really like them! went for a bike ride tonight in them with my teenager, about a mile, maybe mile n a half to the glacier....im surprisingly stronger in my legs than when i rode bikes last fall...also my asthma didnt flare up, which i thought it would...was a nice chilly ride...DH came to get us at the glacier because teenager was whiny and wanted to go home the easy way LOL
i did a 14.5 hour fast from 10 p.m last night until 12:30 this afternoon...it wasnt intentional, i was just busy this morning and once i remembered i hadnt eaten, i just decided to run with it...however i find myself WAYYYY hungrier in the afternoons and also craving sugar and chocolates like crazy!! ive eaten my way through WAY too much easter candy hidden in the back room LOL was very busy today with errands and a big community easter egg hunt for younger son...dyed eggs tonight with him...he's very tired today for some reason, took a late afternoon nap for a few hours and is tired again now at 9:30 p.m....usually if he naps late, he'll be up until we go to bed later...but i DO need him to fall asleep so the easter bunny can do some hiding lol want to make it to the gym tomorrow for some incline walking...still not sure about running...and this blister is horrid! the moleskin over the bandaid makes walking tolerable though |
Happy Easter!
:easter2::easter2::easter2::easter2: |
Happy Easter
I did far better today then I had expected. DW and I went to my Sister's for Easter Dinner. DW announced before we left that for today she was off the diet. I thought I am in trouble because I will probably do like wise. I came in at 1331 which is 69 calories UNDER my goal of 1400 and that included a ham dinner with all the extras and I even had a small piece of berry pie! :D:carrot::D My sodium was a little high but not too bad considering the sodium that is in ham. It was 2362 mg and my goal is 1500 mg. My weight this morning remains steady at 210 lbs. I hope everyone had as great a day as I did. Larry, |
Good morning and Happy belated Easter to all!
I am back at home, but the boys are still off school one more day and we have an early morning dermatologist appointment, oh joy. I stayed on plan better than I ever thought I would do this weekend :yay: I will be back later today to catch up with you guys. |
:faint: I'm sleeping!
2 more nights of work to go! |
Gosh, you all are quite as a :mouse: today!
Back to work for me tonight. The idea of "Leave Your $$ @ Home" is working for me! I have been eating my own snacks that I take & while I am still eating more than I need to eat while @ work, it is not cafeteria food!! Hopefully everyone had a great Monday. You all know I typically live for a good Monday ;) I hope and pray tonight goes as smoothly as last night did. I was pulled to our Cardiovascular Step Down Unit, where I rescued for 8 hours--my MOST FAVORITE job in nursing! :) I miss :wl: It's been a week & over a week since I did leg work! I have to do at least 2 more sessions before my 1/2 & it can't be the week of the race. |
i am here...we had a good easter...i went to the gym yesterday in the morning for incline walking on the treadmill...everyone else must have been at easter services and i had the gym to myself :D i debated going to church services vs the gym...and the gym won out LOL
i wonder what the real calories burned for me are...the treadmill shows calories burned based on speed alone and doesnt factor in the incline, whether its 0% or 15% max...and do i burn more calories since i'm panting and sweating than a truly fit person would be burning? i have a hard time believing that i can be on the treadmill walking at max incline at a fast pace for 45 minutes, leave drenched in sweat, and only have burned a measly 180 calories??? regardless, thats what i factor into my day...if it says i burned 180 than so be it, thats what goes in my log for the day *sigh* |
I am so glad everyone had a good Easter :) Sorry it's been awhile since I checked in, but caught up on reading.
Krystal - so glad the leaving money at home is working for you :) :carrot: |
so i went on my fitness pal to get some info....
on the treadmill, walking uphill at speeds between 3.4-3.6 for 45 minutes equals 180 calories burned according to MFP walking uphill at 3.5 speed for 45 minutes equals 398 calories burned what the heck?? |
Alaskan - wish I had another way to tell you so you can have more accurate readings, but that's why I got HRM to use. I found that MFP over estimated the caloric burns by about 40% for me, and the machines were closer in my case... however even they over estimated on me by a small portion. My friend found that both under estimated her burn. Unfortunately, they are estimates only and not real great for accuracy
Tae Bo for me last night. What a sweaty mess that makes me, but I really do like it |
We are not very chatty this week are we? I know for me, I am busy, and I don't think it is going to let up for a week or two.
I have to break down and go shopping today. We have 3 events coming up in the next week and a half that I have to dress up for. Not really the type of clothing I would like to shop for at this point, but I have nothing. I am hoping to get pieces that I can mix or match, not so much a "dress" or anything that someone will notice if I wore already or not, but not sure if that will work or not. I really hate to buy fitted slacks right now, but I might have to. I will get my walk in first this morning and then go. I am ovulating right now and I feel pretty miserable the last 2 days. I feel all bloaty, munchy and a little crabby I must say. Not sure if I am a little crabby because I feel like my head is spinning with what is going on in everyone's lives or if it is the hormones, or both? I broke down and had 2 servings of chocolate last night, putting me over my goal for the day, but it was really good and I really wanted it. Today I will try to fast until I get back from shopping and I may shave off a few calories ,if I can, to make up for that darn chocolate. It was chocolate or wine, and I wanted the chocolate more. Probably would have saved a few calories if I had chosen wine. Oh well, today is a new day and I am going to rock this day!!!! I have to tell you guys, DH snapped some pictures while we were out of town for DS birthday and I didn't shy away from the camera and guess what? I actually like what I am seeing in the photos! I am no longer embarrassed of my body when I look at pictures, dare I say I actually liked what I saw? I think I still had the same mental block in my head about pictures because my facial expressions are a little subdued, but I will work on that. Okay, gotta run |
Morning...
Just a quick hello. Somehow life has gotten insane around here (baseball season...) I "gained" 3 pounds over night  146.5 to 149.5 I hate when that happens. But my body is sort of a wreck right now. My hip really hurts, I walked yesterday and I had HORRID walk, it was miserable. I was tight and sore everywhere. This morning I woke up with legs filled with lactic acid...what the heck; how did that happen? -- I also decided that it was time to start sculpting my upper body and did 5 different exercises; 3 sets of each with 10 pound weights. -- Now my arms are filled with lactic acid as well... So between ovulation, lactic acid filled body and sore hip, I am one :sunny: person :lol3: I am off to a gentle walk and then run errands for my son who only tells me everything at a very last moment. I already had to go out and buy him dress pants this morning before school; well he was a few minutes late for school. Anycase everyone have a fab day and I will be back with more personal touch later. |

i also have a son who tells me everything at the last minute LOL he's 14....partly the teenager stuff, partly because he's ADHD...and he doesnt focus on anything he's doing, leaving him to spend time re-doing what should have been an easy task *sigh*
this weekend we asked him to bring out the garbage in his room...a little bag full...so he scooped it into a bag and dropped it BY the garbage can in the laundry room, where it tipped over and spilled...so then we ask him to clean it up and put it outside in our garbage can outside...so he cleaned it up and dropped it BY the garbage can outside, where it again spilled all over *sigh* so THEN he had to clean it up and fix it....again but he won't learn how to do any of this if we do it for him...and believe me it would have been WAY easier just for me to clean it up and throw it out lol as for the calories burned...im thinking i might be burning the higher estimate from MFP because i leave having worked out SO intensely...and have been dripping sweat from my workout for most of the workout time...i love it LOL i love pushing my body like that...and i have a hard time believeing that i could be sweating like that for about 30 of the 45 minutes working out and only have burned 180 calories lol |
had a homemade protein shake for breakfast after i took the kids to their schools....went to the store and got to the gym earlier than usual...put in an hour instead of 45 minutes on the high incline walking...says i burned 240 calories....im dripping sweat lol....now to put a homemade ham soup in the crockpot and get ready for work
|
Sum, guess where DS and I were most of the day yesterday? Looking for track shoes the day before the first practice. Yup, and he is just about the pickiest kid there is when it comes to shoes. Of course, I knew he needed shoes earlier, but getting him out is another story. I just stopped after his dermatology appt. yesterday so he had no choice. I ended up having to come home and order them since they didn't have his size in the only pair he found that he halfway liked all day long. He is soooo not a shopper. On the other hand, my oldest would shop all day and night with me. Oh, and guess when he started training for track? A week ago  He should be sucking wind right about now. . .
Alaskan, I would take the average of the two burns personally. I think mfp is a little high on a lot of things, but your treadmill does sound a little low too. K9, don't worry dear, I will never be near a size zero in this lifetime . I am shooting for a nice consistent single digit number. I am an Occupational Therapist. I worked in Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation for most of the years I worked. I have also done a little per diem in a nursing home. I am considering doing a little home care next, but I am not moving on that idea very fast . Larry, how's it going? |
I'm finally back into the "Taking Care of Me" mode, I think! At least I have a couple days off to be in this commonplace!
Alaskan: I really think you need a HRM for accuracy. The machines are just too inaccurate & don't get me started on the MFP site readings. I have no idea where those #s came from. Anniversary gift perhaps? HeartRateMonitorsUSA. com Great job sticking with the :tread: It will start to pay off for you :) Star: I haven't performed Tae Bo in FOREVER! My sis and I used to do it together a long time ago. I sure do miss working out with her! JO: How the heck did all of us manage to get on the same schedule is beyond me! I am hoping ovulation will take away ALL of these pesky symptoms I have been experiencing for the past 3 weeks, especially the increased hunger! Being hungry after you just downed 800+ cals BYTES!! Where is our photo preview, ma'am? If I ever get out of the hospital, I doubt I will be very enthusiastic about getting back into healthcare. It's a real drag, imo! Kristiina:  I feel your pain with that 149! However, mine is not from the accumulation of lactic acid. I wish it were! For the record, I've been just as :sunny: as you!! If I hear these words one more time: "What side of the bed did you get out of this morning? Hey, tomorrow morning, can you get out up on my side of the bed?" {DH, of course} Hi Larry!! Glad you survived Easter without too much damage to your waistline!! |
Jo - You sound crazy busy :) So glad you liked the pictures and what you saw, you have worked so blessed hard! You deserve to feel good about yourself!
Alaskan - You know how hard it is with just your son being ADHD.. think of my poor husband. 2 of my kids (the girls) are ADHD, my son is ADD, I am ADHD..and when my parents come to stay a month at a time... dad is ADHD, And we wonder why the days seem so filled! We can't focus long enough to realize we overbooked ourselves! LOL! Rest assured though, if your DS learns how to channel that ADHD, he will not only succeed, but be able to hyperfocus on one thing and accomplish 4x the "normal" person :) My oldest daughter is JUST NOW learning how to do that even though I have taught her the skills way before now. She is LOVING it too :P Sum - baseball season seems to be your crazy time of year for sure :) Iam sure you will level out again... with everything hitting you at once, 3lbs is all a facade of weight ;) Krystal - I have discovered I love Tae Bo. It's a hard workout, but I enjoy it. I have martial arts in my background, which might be why I enjoy it so much. I am glad you are in taking care of yourself mode :) That's a great spot to be at!!!! |
All I have to say is if I am as hungry today as I have been the last two days, I am going to have to superglue my mouth shut. I love ovulation.
Well, today is my birthday and so far I woke up with a headache, one of my kids overslept (I thought he was already in the shower) and they just informed me that they can't throw anything else down the clothes chute because it is full. That means the cage in the basement (5'x5') and the whole chute from the 2nd floor all the way to the basement is full. Lovely. I think I am going to just ignore it all and go out shopping again. |
If Looks Could Kill--NSV for me ;)
So, I was headed into the gym last night & 2 gentlemen were walking in ahead of me, one of them had on an extremely fitting "Extreme Couture" black t-shirt & I thought , "OMG! This guy is massive--as in extremely ripped!" I go inside, head to the locker room and didn't think anymore about it. As I walked out of the locker room, I was face-to-face with this same "Extreme" gentleman. I almost ran right into him head on. It was one of my ex boyfriend's!!! When we dated in 1998, he was a body builder, but non-competitive. It was the one of the fittest years of my life, as he is the one who got me into fitness. I was just in complete shock, b/c I haven't seen him since 1999, & I had been out of bed maybe 3 hours! {{nice}} Anyway, we chatted for a minute before I headed to my usual routine--tanning, the stairs, and the free weights. When I got over to the weights, he came over and asked what I was specifically training for. I told him about the 1/2 and how I couldn't wait for it to be over so I could do Body Recomp. This was an excerpt of the convo: Me: Yeah, I've been training for this 1/2 and I'm having to eat too much and too many carbs. I am finding it difficult to lose any more weight with all of the extra food. Him: {Giving me an "If looks could kill/puzzled look"} What? You're trying to lose weight? Me: {Laughing} Yes! I've already lost 20 lbs, but I still have some to go. Him: OMG! Where? And why are you lifting all this? You could just tone. You're not building are you? {I was doing squats w/50lbs plus the 45 lb bar} Me: I'm trying to pick my rear up off the floor. I'm not getting any younger. Him: {Still peering at me, all over} You're doing a good job of that! Me: {Still laughing} I don't mind if I stay at this weight as long as it looks different. I wish I had taken a photo of him looking at me. It was seriously funny. I guess that was a little confirmation that I have lost enough weight! He volunteered to "assist" my efforts after the 1/2. It's funny how so many people know exactly the routine you should be engaging in! However, he must know some, he was by far the most muscular person I have ever seen face to face--too much imo, but still--quite impressive @ age 40! |
:bday2you: Happy Birthday Jo! :bday2you:
|
Another drive by post.... I am falling behind with my personals... I esp. wanna tell Krystal about my thryroid experience...but that will hopefully happen tonite.
Jo, I ended up starting my fast yesterday after lunch (1pm-1pm). It was an insane day and i was hungry when we got home around 8 pm, but I was really tired and just went to bed. Today I am off to Ikea. DH has a meeting in that area this morning and I will hitch a ride with him. I "lost" 1 1/2 of my "gain". 148 this am. I will be back later. Have a FAB day!! |
:balloons: :celebrate: Happi Born Day, Jo! :celebrate: :balloons: |

DEBBIE!!!!!! so glad you got on here!! now we can text AND facebook AND forum together LOL
im at work...taking a moment of peace n quiet...worked out this morning, another 60 minutes of high incline walking...im SO loving my new workout shoes, no pain, no blisters! i cant imagine how nice my feet would feel in spendy specialty running shoes LOL...even payless is a step up from walmart for me LOL and these shoes from payless are SO NICE! am working on hydrating myself this afternoon...i think im always dehydrated to some extent...so i bought several things to drink (being that i hate water and would rather go without, than drink it lol) several zero-calorie drinks and some gum ...i buy the strangest stuff |
Jo - Happy Birthday!!!!! Hope it was a good one of shopping and not laundry!!
Krystal - AMAZING NSV!!!! I am so happy for you! You must have been dancing on cloud 10! :) Sum - Find anything good at IKEA?? Deb - :welcome: Alaskan - Hi! Glad you are loving the workout As for me, did Tae Bo again last night, talked my son into joining me. Tonight it will be elliptical and then Bootcamp Abs :) Let's see if I get any takers on the Bootcamp :D Have a great night all! |
Morning!!
I took over 20000 steps again yesterday. It was a good day! I also had a funny NSV; I was doing my walk and my exercise pants kept falling off me. I wore those when I was 165-170 pounds and now at 145-148 pounds they would not stay up. I looked really funny my whole walk because I kept pulling them higer and higer. i guess I can retire those ones :woohoo: Krystal, I have a thyroid promlem and have had it for nearly 20 years. My endo says if one's values are "normal" but they are at low end; those people actually have a slow funtioning thyroid. So anything under 4.0. Now he keeps me around 0.5 and 1.5. My GP originally did not diagnose me, and I had massive amount of symptoms, I finally saw a specialist and life got better. Also; wow, wow, wow! I liked your NSV! Jo, I hope you had a nice birthday!! What did you do? Did you go shopping yet? Star, I like doing things with my kids. That is cool that they are with you and getting in shape together. Where is Larry???? |
Sum - What an excellent NSV!!! I love a great NSV and they seem to be abundant with this crew lately :D For a slower weight group, we sure do reshape nicely :)
On my end - took off my jeans last night without unzipping or unbuttoning them. DH laughed at me as I danced around after, I am a ham! Well, did the elliptical as planned, then right into the Extreme Abs Bootcamp... OUCH! BUT... was able to get 2 hostages last night!! YAY! DD16 and DS both joined me! :) Misery loves company - we were all feeling the burn  Have a super day! |
Thanks for the birthday wishes guys. It was a great day, my friends and family made me feel special without a lot of hoopla, just the way I like it.
With all this shopping for dress clothes, I have been fasting quite a bit, going somewhere between fast 5 and ESE most days. Just walks in the mornings and then all the walking with shopping. I haven't done any challenges or weights this week. I will do better next week. I was still pretty hungry yesterday once I broke my fast. I keep craving chocolate. I hope today I am back to normal. I found 4 dresses I like, if I get time I will take pics and post so you guys can help me out. I will probably return whatever I don't end up wearing, I certainly don't need 4 dresses :dizzy: I really look forward to reaching goal and starting to stock my wardrobe with nice things that I know I will fit into for a long while. Krystal, I loved your story about your x. That must have made you feel great! |
Sum, that is too funny, time to get some new pants for sure! I still have safety pins in my shorts I wear to run in. I keep meaning to take them in, but forget about it until I go to put them on. I just bought some long yoga pants from old navy yesterday because my loaf around the house pants are getting to be a trip hazard
Star, I love it when I can do that! Makes for a trip to the bathroom hassle free  |
Very quick post, as I am off today to celebrate my anniversary that I totally forgot about!! :fr: JO: You're right Spike is cheating on me!!!!! I'm so glad!! I am reaping the benefits of being 145.4 today!! Down a little under 4 lbs of water weight this a.m. :carrot: |
good morning :) got errands done this morning after i took the kids to their schools...went to the gym...LOVE the new shoes! LOL...another 5K walk this morning up the high inclines...time to get ready for work now :)
|
Happy 10th!!! Krystal!!!
