Okay, I feel like I am totally hoarding this board :o
Jo I am fasting today. Tomorrow DH will be working from home :carrot: So maybe we can have lunch out. I am feeling pretty good. Taking a break from MFP feels REALLY GOOOOD! I ate during my 5 h window yesterday, and I am sure I was within decent calories. So I am fasting till 5 pm today. I am taking a longer walk today; 7.5 miles. Our day is going to be :sunny: Today is also my upper body toning day. I am proud of myself; I have stuck to my every other day toning for two weeks now. Weight is stuck at 148, but I feel skinnier :dunno: Star How is your puppy doing? -- I love fur-babies! Everyone have a FAB day!! |
Sum, I am fasting today too:carrot:. Guess what time I am done? 5:00 ma'am! :carrot: We can do this!
I am a little hungrier than usual, so hoping I can make it. I woke up at 2:30am hungry, fell back to sleep and am still a little hungry this morning. Having some coffee now to hopefully quiet my rumbling tummy. I think my body senses that it got some extra work yesterday. And it is going to get it today too . I will finish this thing, **** or high water! These 160s are not going to know what hit them :frypan: |
I hate losing entire posts! :tantrum:
Kristiina: I love the pic of your baby! Great job with sticking to your toning routine!! Jo: :dust: for your fast today. Just keep yourself busy like you usually do on your fast and you will make it!! (If TOM will leave you alone) Star: You are the Tae Bo queen :queen: I think it's awesome that you have gotten your family on board with you. Families can be tough to follow a more physical lifestyle, especially if they are used to being sedentary. Alaskan: You crack me up talking about 54 being "warm"!! I get chilly just thinking that! I consider "warm" in the 75 degree or higher range. When is your 'adoptee' coming? You're heart is large! Bless you for taking him into your home. Hi Larry. I hope you're lurking around and not ill again. My toe feels better now than it did at 4 this morning when I first woke up. Recovery time is an estimated 5 days. My skin tends to heal quickly for some reason, so I am glad of that. I have yet to take the bandage off of it, but I will in a bit. Today, I have a hair appt, & I'm going to be working on an invitation project for my sister. I'm a little crafty & she asked me to do the invitations for my niece's grad party in May. I'm super excited :) This is my bag, for sure! I already came up with the wording, now just to design the card. |
Oh my, this is a tough fast today. I am determined to make it, but I am H U N G R Y! Hoping that means I am ready for a drop on the scale soon.
Krystal, good news on the toe feeling alright and also that you tend to heal quickly. I would love to see the invites when you get them done! I love crafts. |
good morning :)
our "second child" came over last night...he'll be here for awhile i think, not sure how long, probably a long time...he gets to sleep in jackson's room (our 6 year old) because jackson mostly falls asleep on the couch with us at night and then comes into our bedroom later in the night...i need to get some sheets n stuff this weekend, he's stuck with Lightening McQueen blankies for now LOLOL! and he came with practically nothing, i'm not even sure what clothes he has or if he has shampoo or anything...but i'll deal with that this weekend after i get paid also DH found a motorcycle for cheap that he wants to get...its' up the coast in haines...so that means if he gets it this weekend, he will take the state ferry on a four hour ride to the town, get the bike, and get back on teh ferry for another 4 hours back down here...there are no roads in or out of our city here, all the other places around here you either fly to or take the state ferry that means i get to haul the giant pile of cr*p in our garage to the dump by myself on saturday if he's gone....he promised to pack it all in the truck on friday for me so all i have to do is drive up to the dump and shove it all out LOL! maybe i'll take michael to help me michael is the "second child"....he's 18 or 19, i forget now which....he has a newborn baby with his 15 year old girlfriend *sigh* but the baby and gf stay with the gf's grandmother since her parents are also lifelong absent i cleaned up the kitchen so far today after i got the kids to their schools....one is kindergarten, one is 8th grade so there are two schools to stop at each morning...will be going to the gym soon |
Great day for me--not eating-wise, but I did get paper for the invitations :D
I liked my new hair colorist too! DH, of course, did NOT notice--even though I am almost all the way back to blonde now :yikes: MEN!!! Food-wise, I was doing well, up until 5pm, when I got just completely hungry while I was out! I bought yogurt, trail mix, and yogurt covered cherries! Not bad, but as usual....TOO MANY CALS!! :tantrum: My toe is better..so that's a plus! :carrot: Hope you are all doing well with your fasts today! |
I am feeling so proud tonight. My son has always been a gentleman and people comment how polite etc he is....his baseball team, well some of the team members, decided to bully one of the players (one even urinated in this particular boys locker...sheesh) Coach asked all boys to bring their jerseys back.
Cam was first one to speak and say he is sorry if he had said something hurtful, it had not been his intention. He also said he was sorry that he did not step up when verbal "joking" took place. Another boy followed the suit...his dad is one of the school principals and much celebrated football coach....the rest of the boys stayed silent. So Cam and the other boy got their jerseys back. Coach had made a huge deal how Cam and the other boy are "leaders" and these two were not involved in any kind of bullying, and they still apologized. Meeting ended up being productive, one of the boys had cried his eyes out, everyone ended up apologizing ( who was involved). One of the boys is on 5 day suspension, he will lose his spot. A tough lesson. These are good kids, I don't get it! Why do some teenagers do stupid sh1t like this? Now the joke is, team has 1 1/2 players....because Cam is a cripple...lol |
Kristiina: So glad to hear when people's children & adults DO THE RIGHT THING!! Why can't we all just do the right thing and treat others with respect.
It is a tough lesson to learn, but I hope for that child's sake the coach does NOT lessen the punishment! :yay: Cam!! |
Krystal - So glad to hear the toe is feeling better!!!! Sending thoughts of a quick recovery :) I am no Tae Bo queen, but I sure do enjoy it... be glad when I don't look like a total fool trying to remember/do his combinations though,
Sum - That sounds like a heck of a situation for the kids. Bullying is a huge deal though, so I am glad to hear the coach jumped on it. What a testament to how you have been raising your son to have him be the first to speak up on the side of what is right :) Tonight after work I had appointment with my nutritionist. I was hoping she could shed light on why the scale has not moved since December. She took all my logs and looked carefully. The looked at my spreadsheets (yes, I am a bit OCD like that) for exercise and nutrition. She is stumped, Well! Her only "guess" is that literally for every pound of fat I am losing, I am gaining a pound of muscle. Just since February I have lost another 4.5" off waist, 2" off hips, etc... she keeps records, I don't think that sounds likely, but... she is going to do more checking into it and collaborate with the fitness coach I was working with at the beginning to hopefully get me answers. With my calorie deficit, there is no way it shouldn't be coming off - but with my new intensity levels, she wonders of the muscle portion disguising the loss. |
Thanks ladies :)
Weekly weigh in, 148 up a pound :( I feel swollen and yucky. TOM is making itself known. Fast went well, I think I over did it with green tea yesterday  I was up half of the night running to potty. Maybe that is why I was up as well, usually after 24 fast I am down a pound. DH is working from home today :woohoo: I have my walking partner again. I wore my new dress when he got home last night ( I settled with size 6), and he said I looked really thin. Awwww! I wore the dress all day and I received many nice compliments. It felt goooood! Okee off to do my morning chores, walk and grocery day. |
Well Sum, don't feel bad, I am up a pound and a half this morning! Yuck. I feel icky and bloated. Just wish TOM would get here and be done with it. My calendar says 5 days away but I will be surprised if it doesn't come early.
The worst part is I have to get dressed up tonight for a formal banquet/awards ceremony feeling like this? Yuck. So today's mission is operation water loss. My friend cannot walk so I am going to run until the cows come home :moo: (and hopefully sweat out about 3 pounds of water ), I am going to drink lots of water/tea, eat no carbs until the dinner and see what that does for me. I hope drinking lots won't backfire on me and I end up puffier than I am  I was trying to drink extra yesterday, but I could tell not as much was coming out as going in. Not going to be a good weigh in week, darn it and I have been so so "good". I know it is just water, but it frustrates me to no end. I would really like to be done with the weight loss part of things so these water fluctuations don't mean as much. On the other hand, maybe a week from now I will be enjoying a whoosh. Who knows. |
Sum - Of course you got compliments! Even though you are critical of yourself, the DH and other see what really exists ;) It's amazing how "normally" something looks one way... then as women we stand in front of the mirror and see a totally distorted view of what's there. I think it's a reset of the mind from what we are used to. Size 6 is small, your progress is amazing!!!!
Jo - I have no doubt that is all water out to haunt you. Keeping fingers crossed that it leaves you for your formal banquet. It would make it way more fun to get all dressed up, then if you felt blah. |
GM all
I am sleeping in today--0530!! Then dh informs me he forgot he has to be at work at 7!!! :fr: Oh well, early it is. I'll probably nap this afternoon. Market day for me as well. And since all of us are doing the same thing, I feel yucki right along with you all  Star: I hope you have a great day at work today. It's Friday!! :yay: for you. Not so much for me. I'll be saving lives this weekend :) Jo: You're quite the party girl! Getting dressed up is nice once in a while! I hope you have fun tonight :) Kristiina: :woohoo: for P being home!! I know you are happy. Walk an extra mile just for the QT ;) |
Quote:
BTW.....nothing wrong w/Lightening Mcqueen--long as they are clean, right?? |
Have fun tonite Jo
|
Krystal - You are cracking me up! Hope you had good luck at the market :) How's the toe?
|
I ended up NOT going to the market today & working on the invitations. They are fun to do, but very time consuming.
DH texted me & said, "There's something wrong with the fridge." I asked what was wrong with it. He said, "I can see all of the shelves--all the way to the back. We have no food!" I can't wear ALL the hats! |
 Morning All
I may be MIA for a bit. I work tonite & Sunday nite. Then, next week my parents and I are going camping! They will be fishing. I will be :running: :crossed: this toe is healed by then!!! Next week at this time, I will be in Nashville :yay: Taking a week off without counting cals is one thing…. Taking a week off of exercise is altogether a different story. I seriously DO NOT recommend it, esp. if you are used to eating to compensate for the extra cals burned. Hope you all have something fun planned for the weekend. It's raining here, so a PERFECT time to go to the hospital and work. |
Hi everyone
We had a great time last night, I drank a little too much, but that's another story. Really, thinking back over the course of the night, I counted 3 glasses of wine and one beer. Not so much, but I woke up at 2:30 last night needing to chug some water and take some ibuprofen to ward off a hangover, oops. Maybe I went into it a little dehydrated. I decided not to weigh in today and may not weigh in until after TOM. Just not worth it to me right now. I wonder if I could get to the point where I only weigh in once per week??? I need to find ways to be a little less restrictive without letting go. I cannot fathom doing what I am doing now for the rest of my life, all the weighing in, logging, counting, tracking. I just want to eat well and move a lot and get rid of the obsessive behaviors. Do you guys think that is possible? I just feel so unsettled. I want to be at goal and be done with this part. This is probably PMS talking, don't mind me. |
Quote:
Esp. with the weighing. I haven't hardly weighed at all this week. I mean--why should I? Only to be defeated by a number. My clothes tell me I am roughly the same weight. As far as logging...well.....that's another story. I'm not sure if I'm ready to part with MFP. I want to STOP obsessing about food & I think MFP promotes an obsession in me to obsess about the #s. I did stop hitting the "Finished Logging for the Day" button, which has helped. It is never accurate anyway, so why bother. I do tend to overeat on healthy food or unhealthy food, so it really doesn't matter if I eat apples or candy, I'm probably still going to overeat. Why? I seriously don't know why all of a sudden I am just famished. Anyway: I went to the market this a.m. HOW FRIGGIN DEPRESSING!! I used to go to the market, spend $100 and not have gotten hardly anything. Today, it was $215 & I seriously bought 2 bags of chicken tenderloins, 1 pork tenderloin, 2 bags of chicken strips, 1 (4-pack) of turkey burgers, & 2 ground turkey packs with stuff to make a salad! WTH??? I don't know how people buy food, beer, & cigs...along with kiddos & other addictions & still have $ for their cost of living expenses. There are only 2 of us (& 2 K9s--which I need to get a tax break for  ) J keeps saying our 2 are going to have to get a job!! I haven't had a raise on my job for at least 5 yrs & other companies don't just up and give their employees a major cost of living raise. This is just ridiculous & it's only getting worse :( **End Rant** |
Jo - I am betting you CAN get to that point... just not going to be overnight. :) You have come a long ways in getting rid of obsessive behaviors... or at least replacing bad obsessions with good ones, LOL!
Krystal - Hope work isn't going to be so hard on that toe. I bet you are looking forward to Nashville. I totally sympathize with financial frustrations. DH got laid off AGAIN yesterday morning - and we are back to just my income with 3 kids...and I don't make very much, not gonna lie. As for me - finally seeing drops in the scale. :woohoo: 189.4 this morning. I examined when the plateau started in December.... I added a muffin and would have sandwich now and then. Started to wonder if break (or something in it) was reacting with IBS and preventing loss. Nutritionist didn't believe that would be possible with my intensity of exercise and calorie deficit - well, I gotta try something. It's been one official week since I tried... I was at 192.8 (where I had been FOREVER it seems)... and bam... 189.4 now?? Hmmm... think I may have found my issue- whether nutritionist believes or not. :) |
Star, a big :congrat: to you for breaking into the 180s! That is awesome :woohoo:
|
Krystal I hear you!! We decided to start eating all "real" food... so now when I go and get pasture raised, grass fed beef or wild caught salmon; 4 days worth of meat/chicken/fish is nearly $80.
I swear we all have our up and downs at the same time, like we are all linked. (Linkedin...hehe) |
Thank you Jo!!!!! I thought I was doomed at that plateau... finally!!!
|
Star You go girl!! 180's!!! F A B U L O U S!!!
|
:yay: STAR :yay:
|
I ran across this guy's website when I was researching IF.
http://www.jorgecruise.com/storage/B...REE%20Menu.pdf I am going to follow his 3 day eating plan this upcoming week. I will do 24 fast; I ate around 3 pm today (way too much and 800 calories worth chocolate covered raising )...therefore I will fast tomorrow and follow his eating plan for the following 3 days. He even adds 5-10 oz of wine :o |
Kristiina: Very interesting! Let me know how you do with that plan for 3 days.
One more week of carb load, then I can get serious!! |
Sassy Water
2 liters water (about 8 ½ cups) 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger 1 medium cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced 1 medium lemon, thinly sliced 12 small mint leaves. Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher and let flavors blend overnight. ETA: I just made it. I did not have fresh ginger, but I added a pinch of powdered ginger. I had dried mint leaves from my garden (from last year) |
I am trying this for dinner tomorrow, looked interesting
Crock Pot Sweet and Spicy Pineapple Turkey Chili Submitted by: LERBICELLA A sweet little twist on the classic turkey chili... Minutes to Prepare: 15 Minutes to Cook: 150 Number of Servings: 5 Ingredients 1 Package - 99% Fat Free Ground Turkey (I use Shday Brook Farms, which only comes in 1.23 lb, or about 3 lb pacakges. I use the 1.23 lb package for this recipe) 1 can - Kidney beans (do not drain liquid) 12 oz. - Any tomato sauce (homemade or jar) 1/2 jar - Old El Paso Fresh Mexican Style Smooth Pineapple Chile Salsa 5 oz. - Crushed Pineapple (I use Dole crushed pineapple in juice) Chili Powder (as much or as little as suits your taste) Directions - Brown the turkey over medium heat until no longer pink. - Drain any excess fat. - Combine all ingredients in a crock pot. - Cook on high for 2.5 hours. - Top with low fat sharp cheddar or fat free sour cream, if it suits you. Tip: This dish tends to have a little kick to it due to the Pineapple Chile Salsa, so if you prefer something a little less spicy, I recommend skipping the extra chili powder. Makes approximately 5-6 servings. Number of Servings: 5 CALORIES: 172.6 | FAT: 2.6g | PROTEIN: 24g | CARBS: 14.6g | FIBER: 2.1g Adding; red pepper. corn and sweet onion. I am rinsing the beans to avoid extra sodium and adding water or chicken stock if needed. |
that sounds like a good recipe...i havent tried cooking anything new in awhile
ugh what a day :( busy this morning with errands and chores...decided not to do the work to the lawn because it's too expensive and time-intensive for me, wanted to till the outside of the fence and put flower seeds down but DH doesnt want me to do that, talked about starting a vegetable garden but it's not gonna work out either the way i'd hoped it would...and THEN there's more drama with my sister she struggles with mental health problems and alcohol use...they've been drinking alot lately, she fell out of bed (loft bed kind of) while drunk/passed out and damaged her knee where it may need surgery but doesnt remember falling out of it because of being drunk(?)...her neighbor says her bf has been beating on her but i'm not sure i believe the neighbor either...or if any of that is connected...she texted me last night at midnight and then called my phone before i was even awake this morning...said that the voices in her head have identified itself as our dead sister (yes we actually DO have a dead sister) neighbor gets ahold of me thsi afternoon....sister and her bf got in a verbal fight with neighbor's DH, threatened to kill him and then they left in bf's truck which is strewn with empty beer cans and her bf is on probation and not supposed to drink....police are looking for them now OMGGGG (!) i just want to pull my hair out....what a freaking frustrating and exasperating day!! |
Sum and Krystal - Thank you for the props :D I was stoked to see the plateau break... FINALLY!!!! Here's hoping it continues
Sum - that sounds like an interesting plan. He seems to use a bunch of dairy and creamy stuff in the recipes though, so not an option for me. I have been checking into IF and looking around myself, just mainly so I understand what you all are doing more :) I like to know how to properly encourage ;) You all offer up so much support for me, I do try to reciprocate Alaskan - sounds like a mess and a lot on a plate at your place Krystal - Hope work goes well for you Today it was 103 according to the news, all I knew is it was HOT :) I didn't do an official workout, but hung by/in the pool all day - rough life I gotta tell ya, Tomorrow it's supposed to be a few degrees warmer, so going to do my run in the morning before the temps start to rise too high. It won't be very encouraging for my son in the direction of fitness if mommy collapses on the run, Have a super night all! |
Another MFPer & 3FCer lives in CA & reported it was 104 there today!!
Uhm....helloooooo How about spreading the heat around  It was in the 60s here!! I'm ready for 80s!! 90s!!! I'd settle for 75 at this point!! Alaskan: I wouldn't even know what to say to you in the midst of all that drama! WOW!! to you. That MUST be tough between sisters. My sissy and I are close. I couldn't imagine if she were anything like your sister. Work is rescheduled for Sun & Mon night, due to low census. I'm not complaining. I worked more on the invitations. I am miraculously almost finished!! |
I have been doing a lot of soul searching.
-- Working is out. Just because of our family dynamics, I had very little left after taxes and third, MI is dead; I would have really hard time finding a position :( -- Soooo.... I think I am going to go back to school. I will do medical field (Krystal is probably screaming noooooo). I am interested in two areas; Pharmacy and PA (Anesthetist). I have nothing but time right now, and college would be discounted because my DD is starting this fall, and even further discounts when DS starts it. PLUS, I love school. I need something. I am busy with the kids, but they are nearly grown. I am alone all day long at home, and meeting friends for lunch got old pretty quick. What do you think? Plus walking around campus would be good exercise :D |
Alaskan Yikes! My sis is a total nut case, but she does not have problems like yours. Sorry!
Star that is HOT. -- 55 here but sunny. Looking forward to a nice, cool walk. |
Sum - I think that is a great plan! I am going back for criminal justice with side of sociology (as soon as the wait list gets to me) while working full time and 3 kids. If I can do it, you can totally rock it!!!!
|
Sounds like a great plan Kristiina.
Although, me--personally-I'd consider MOVING first!! |
My family is in constant change  DD decided that she does not want go away for college. I don't blame her. She skipped a grade and she just started freaking out for being on her own, so she will do pre-pharm program 10 minutes away from home. It is a great school and she has a full ride there. She will be part of their honor's college with class sizes 10-20 :woohoo: It will also save us a ton what comes to room and board etc. Pharm D program is a PhD program and on 4th year she will start paying for PhD credit hour fees. So I am not sad at all  I was worried about her, so this will buy atleast another year at home; maybe she will get an apartment with some girls next year.... so this changed our moving plans. We will stay here atleast for 3 more years then. I could start my courses as well.
Back to weightloss :lol3: I did 24 h fast and it was really easy. I was so dumb yesterday.....I kinda gorged on cheese and chocolate covered raisins...so I was in pain until this afternoon  I did not WANT to eat. -- When am I going to learn that I can not eat cheddar cheese in large quantities???!!! I made nachos for myself and I did not skimp on cheese. I did not weigh this am, it was probably horrid. I have been drinking my sassy water all day and I really like it. It is supposed to be good on tummy bloat (not just after cheese indulgent, but any..hehe). I bought fresh ginger and mint and I will make another pitcher for tomorrow. I have Crock Pot Sweet and Spicy Pineapple Turkey Chili just about ready and what I can tell, it is quite tasty. Tastes like Sweet and Sour chicken. Tomorrow I will start following my 3 day belly fat cure diet. (Ugh, I hate that word). I walked with P and Shadow, and now it is time for me to torture my upper body. Ta-Ta for now. |
happy earth day!! :) i went for a 7 mile bike ride instead of a car drive this afternoon in celebration :) i had rest days from the treadmill this weekend, i planned it that way...i did a 5K for 5 days straight of fast incline walking and chose to give my body a rest...but i just couldnt resist doing SOMETHING so i went for a bike ride instead...was a nice ride, almost sunny and temps in the low 50s...am also doing errands and laundry today and put a pork bbq in the oven to slow roast...
as for my sister, things turned out as good as could be i suppose....they came back to their trailer, cops showed up and banged on their door, they refused to open the door, bf's probation officer showed up so they let him in...her bf passed his breathalyzer test (probation requirement) and cops searched their trailer and didnt find anything....because they hid it while they refused to open the door to begin with...my sister who reeked of alcohol said she laid in bed and pretended to be passed out drunk so the cops wouldnt harass her *sigh* and nothing ever came of it....no charges, her bf is fine on his probation, etc....chalk up a few more gray hairs on MY head though ughhh |
Hey all, I just wanted to drop in quickly to say I am doing alright, I have been pretty busy this weekend getting my youngest ready for his first track meet of the season on Tues. and for his trip to DC on Wednesday. What a chore.
Not sure what my goals are for this week, I usually have some kind of plan. I guess I will just do the same ****, different week  |
