I'm back. Not being all that productive today. Just not focussing. Probably because I'm still doing some conversion testing and it's boring me out of my mind.

Michelle - Oh, bad news re the bronchitis, but I hope you caught it in time before it becomes a major issue like in the past. And sorry about the mad scramble to get those reports taken care of - that stinks. Oh, thanks for looking up that phrase, since I was too lazy to do it, lol. I have, however, had that Cars song going through my head throughout the day. I think I have that on my iPod, so I might have to listen to that when I leave today. :)

Happy - Glad you're getting the snow up there for the race. Sorry you're a little bit stir crazy right now. After all the outdoor projects you'll do during the warmer weather, next winter you will probably enjoy not doing any of that. ;) And by then you'll be pros at the retirement stuff and you will have so much keeping you busy you'll wonder how you ever had time to even work way back when. Yeh, I will figure out the exercise thing. I do know that I do alright with the strength training type of videos (espec. Margaret Richard/Body Electric), but since I'm not a huge cardio fan, I don't have it in me to do it on my own with a video at home.

Ceejay - Glad your friend calmed you down. Keep your head down and nose to the grindstone at work - what else is there to do? Don't stay away too long, okay?? :)

Mel - Too bad for the office manager having a hard time. Probably is having a lot of regrets and second thoughts on how she's done and is doing things. Oh well, not your concern. Your concern is continuing your recovery! Keep it up, it's looking good. :) Yeh, the advisor meeting went alright - I've got him off my back for a bit now. And when he follows up in a few months, I might just ignore him until he goes away, lol. I haven't forgotten the chicken pot pie. One of these days I will come home with one of them! Lovin' those springy colors and graphics!! LOL at the Mardi Gras one, teehee.

Hellos to Annie & Mary!

Nothing much to report. Yesterday's steps were 7502. Today they are currently 4411 - bf drove me to the train this morning.

Not going to the movie tonight as they are seeing another Oscar movie I dont' want to see - Albert Nobbs. Just not interested in Glen Close in a movie where the character pretends to be a man so she can be a waiter at a good restaurant back in the olden days - saw a clip and don't really want to look at that the whole movie. I mean, it's not like she makes a hunky guy, LOL.

Instead, bf and I decided to go see "The Gray" on our own tonight. It's with Liam Neeson and he's fighting off wolves!

I started off a post this morning but a couple of victims arrived so rather than let them get away, I nailed them to the chair and moved on to training. Let them go for coffee and they end up in Rockhampton or somewhere 150km away.

Happy's favourite birds where at the feeding ground this morning. About 30 of them. And talking about birds and photos etc., I am sorry that I haven't got back to the word picture yet. I am actually not supposed to stop on the haul road, so if/ when I can get away with it, I do. I have a couple of snaps but not the ones I really want. I can't unfortunately order the parade of Kangaroos to be on time or in a specific place, and I for some reason or another can't order the weather around either. Even the cattle have disappeared on me, although the other day when I saw them they looked real cute all lying on the ground by the water hole under the trees and out of the heat, and I couldn't stop to take the photo. :nono: Thundering great truck and 4 trailers filled with coal behind me. Story of my life.

Last night was a doosey of a storm. The lightning started and finished right over my roof and was loud and long. The rain came in from all directions bashing on the door and windows and roof. It was loud and bright. And it didn't stop before midnight either. I should sleep really well tonight.

You'll have to excuse me today. No personals since I now have a phone hookup to go to. Someone wants to tell me how good I am???? :lol3:  :lol3:  :lol3:  :lol3:  :lol3:  :lol3:
So I should pay them the courtesy of at least listening to the bull.

Forgot to mention that DS1 texted me to tell me that the Amnio had been done on Monday and that they saw the baby and it waved at them. Naturally enough I did assure the DS1 that the baby is obviously bright, friendly and talented just like its Gran. His reply was that at least they know that one arm works.

I HEAR YA ON THE BOREDOM AND IT WILL ALL BE BETTER ONCE WE CAN GET THE FOOK OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!!:runnung: HOPE IT'S SOON AND WE STILL HAVE SOME HAIR LEFT ON OUR HEADS!! I HAVE NOT MEDS TO TAKE OTHER THAN SINUS. THE DR GAVE ME NO REFILS. BUT I THINK YOU ARE RIGHT AND THIS COULD BE THE SINUS MEDS...MY TUMMY IS FED UP WITH PILLS:cry:
I MISSED THE GRAPHICS...THEY HUMOR ME.

MICHELLE...ALTHOUGH YOU WERE PRODUCTIVE....I HOPE THE CHEST IS FEELING OK TODAY. SENDING HEALING THOUGHTS YOUR WAY  :yoga:

LAURA.....GOTTA LOVE LIAM....I WAS SOOO IN LOVE WITH HIM YEARS AGO. WHAT A HUNK HE WAS. HOW WAS THE MOVIE? GOTTA BE BETTER THAN GLENN CLOSE AS A HE/SHE??? WTF!?!?! ME THINKS THE MOVIE INDUSTRY IS RUNNING OUT OF SUBJECTS TO FILM
REMINDS ME OF BARBARA STREISAND IN YENTL(SP) ALTHOUGH I KIND OF LIKED THAT MOVIE WAY BACK THEN. HAPPY WALKING....NICE NUMBERS!

SHAD............THE SIGNS ARE TOO FUNNY. I AM SO HAPPY TO HEAR ALL IS WELL WITH THE AMNIO. WAVE BACK TO THE BABE FOR AUNTIE MEL:bb:
WHATEVER YOU DO....DO NOT STOP ON THAT ROAD FOR US. THOSE TRUCKS ARE PROBABLY BARRELING DOWN THAT ROAD AND WON'T STOP IN TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rollpin:
YOU CRACKED ME UP THIS MORNING....I THOUGHT BETWEEN THE 2 OF US WE COULD MANAGE TO HAVE KANGAROOS FORMING CONGA LINES ON TIME AND CONTROL THE WEATHER AT A MOMENTS NOTICE. DON'T GO BURSTING ALL MY BUBBLES JUST WHEN I THOUGHT WE WERE THE TRUE RULING QUEENS:queen: OF THE UNIVERSE!

Shad 02-22-2012 08:28 AM

No way Miss Mel. Kangaroos do their thing. Such is life and I have found the Brahmin bulls again - hard to miss when they are chasing and mounting the herd - must be breeding time again.

As organisers of the universe, it is our duty to try to control the world. May not work but try we must.

Now back to bed. Maybe sleep will come again.
Stupid sleep patterns

annie175 02-22-2012 09:09 AM

Day of Lent...hmmmmmmm..what shall I give up...I have not done anything yet to mess up lent. Thinking...thinking...thinking....hmmm, maybe stop thinking...lol

SHADDIE...loved the signs...I shared them with my office pals...we all got a hoot out of them. If you run out of nails for your trainees..duct tape works wonders.

CEEJAY...Don't let the evil people at work steal your joy..have a happy heart and mind...the rest will fall into place.

CHELLE...so proud of you for going to the doc sooner rather than later...you are one that needs to get a jump on every health situation because of your lungs...hope it is already clearing up...don't work too hard and get plenty of rest...and fluids..hugs sweet sista... Oh and the fishing....we do the catch and release thing...I do NOT like cleaning fish...there you have it my sisters...something I do NOT like to clean...FISH.

HAPPY...Wait till this summer when you are out working in the yard, sweating your bunz off..then..think back to this day, when it is cold and you were going stir crazy... No worries on the fishing...I will patiently wait till you have it figured out. Sides, we cannot afford too many trips in one year...with Florida next month and hopefully a trip to Chelle's in the near future.

MELLIE...if I were there I would cook you some brekkie. We are to have some wonderful weather today also....high 55, sunny, however Saturday it is only supposed to be 38 then start a warming trend on Sunday. I am so ready for spring, getting into the dirt, planting, cutting grass, playing in the water hose...and think it is only 27 days till spring!! and 24 till vacation.

LAURA...I am with you on the Glen Close movie...I love her movies but that one does nothing to excite me into watching it. How was the Gray with our man Liam? Sad what happened to his wife. (Died after a skiing accident a couple of years ago).

Babysat lil Monkey last night. He is so sweet, a little fussy, but sweet. Smiles all the time, sometimes even when he is fussing. Stinker.

Better get busy....everyone stay healthy and happy!!

Loves and hugs

diyana 02-22-2012 09:45 AM

Good morning!

Crazy busy trying to finish the reports and the supporting documentation prior to a meeting this afternoon.

DH has gotten worse because the stupid pulmonologist only gave him a 10 day supply of meds. He took the last pill on Friday and got progressively worse over the weekend. He went to the doc at my company's Wellness Center, who essentially called the specialist an idiot to treat such a deeply entrenched fungal infection with a 10 day course of meds. He prescribed the anti-fungal med for a month to really knock it out. And he's going to talk to an Infectious Disease specialist at one of Wisconsin's leading hospitals to see if DH should go there, or if DH should be given anything else to speed the healing/recovery.

I'm still coughing and quite weak/tired, but doing a little better than I was early this week. I may see if I can work from home tomorrow and Friday or just take one of those days off to rest.

I'd better get back to it...I'll try and do personals later.

Much love and many hugs,

Laura705 02-22-2012 09:53 AM

Morning all.

Shad - Sorry the weather & the animals would not arrange themselves in the composition of your choice - maybe tomorrow. Love the signs, especially the third one!!! Glad the amnio went well.

Mel - Liam and the movie were good, but it's probably not everyone's cup of tea... Very scary stuff in this man vs. nature movie. Definitely not Disney, and too bad there were no cute fuzzy little wolf cubs to lighten it up, LOL.

Annie - Heathen that I am, I haven't observed Lent in years. But maybe I should give up all the junk food... at least until my physical which is in about two weeks...

Hellos to the rest of the Worldlies.
---
Nuttin' much to report. The movie "The Grey", as I mentioned to Mel, was good, and Liam played a good part. I'm sure it was more enjoyable than the Glen Close thing. Happy, if you're reading - not sure if I'd recommend that you see this movie, being where you are and in the midst of all that nature. Do you hear any howling at night?? :D

Tonight's Pilates. I also have to remember to change out my purse. This one suddenly looks absolutely awful, definitely time to retire it. Also have to think about what I'll bring to the Oscars Party on Sunday night. So far several salty snacks have been mentioned, so maybe something sweet. I'm honestly not that excited about it this year. I kind of miss when it used to be a distinct movie group crowd - my neighbor and a few others. Now the movie and book club have pretty much morphed together and several of the movie group folks have dropped off... not the same.

Okay, back to work.

Laura705 02-22-2012 09:59 AM

Michelle is the sneaker-inner today!! Sorry dh's recovery stopped because of the idiot dr not prescribing enough meds! Dh must be so frustrated!!! I'm glad you're feeling better than earlier in the week. I hope you can swing the work at home, or even better, a day off to rest. I really don't want you to be suffering again with a full-blown bout of bronchitis!!

Laura705 02-22-2012 01:21 PM

Haha, just jammed a paperback in my purse and tried to zip it closed and now I've broken the zipper. Definitely time to retire the purse.

happy2bme 02-23-2012 02:09 AM

Hi all,

Spent my morning on the telephone - once again my credit card has been compromised. Same credit card that was hit 2 days before we moved last year. I do use it almost exclusively and do a fair amount of online shopping so statistics were against us. DH caught it this morning. I check my account at least twice a week. The person on the phone told me about using the secure account numbers which generates a unique number for one specific transaction. I will be more religous about doing that. I am very guarded about my info but when you have to give it to order takers, there's nothing to stop and unscrupulous person from stealing your info. This was 5 charges to the same big name retailer for the same amount totalling almost 500 dollars. Always something - at least we caught it quickly and the card was cancelled, probably in enough time so the thief won't get there stuff delivered either (it was an online purchase). Then I tried to look at Shad's pictures that everyone is giggling over and I cannot see them. I just get the famous red x for the picture and when I click on it, it says I don't have permission because I am not logged in. I log in again, it takes my login, I go to the page with her post and again, I see red x's for the pictures. Click. error. Log in again. Rinse lather and repeat. I get the very same problem with Firefox. So... I guess I won't get to see the good signs :(

Michelle - I am very sorry that DH was not given enough medication. I had a teeny tiny nodule of infection and they gave me these strong horsepills that I had to take for 3 months straight. I was concerned I would wipe out all the bacteria good and bad from my body totally. That sounds moronic that the doc would prescribe 10 days when DH has been sick for months. Well you know, half the doctors graduated in the bottom half of their class. I hope DH has a doctor who will take much better care of him. Poor guy. My pulmonologist said it was not out of the question that they would have to prescribe another 3 months if the nodule did not show "progress" after the first round. I guess those buggers sure are stubborn things which have to run their course with the RIGHT meds. I was surprised to learn that I will always show "hot" on an xray and will always probably have lymph nodes that are active. The antibiotics killed the infection but the spot will always stay there (only way out is surgical removal). He said the body knows there is something there that doesn't belong so the body still tries to attack it. Through routine xrays and cat scans (might be the same for DH) they monitored it for enough time so they knew it didn't grow and therefore the antibiotics worked. I told him I was moving and he said to have someone up this way order a cat scan in October and send him the results and he will check it and give me the one year go ahead and I can be done with this stuff. I will never again take for granted the lungs. And it is scary the stuff you can innocently pick up trying to help flood or disaster victims. I have a higher respect for Red Cross and rescue workers even more than I did before. I just hope he will be ok. And I hope you are feeling better too and not in the throws of bronchitis

Laura - sorry your purse broke - I can relate. Usually the strap breaks or the zipper and I can't get to my wallet I need which says - time to replace NOW. Hope you find something that works well for you. It's almost spring anyway - time to get a lighter purse  Yeah, I would think combining the movie group and the book club would be people of different tastes and interests. Going to the movies every week would get pretty pricy and I can't think of that many which would be interesting enough to go see. We have a 4 screen movie theater in town and not sure how often they rotate movies. I think they are currently showing Ben Hur with Charlton Heston :lol3: And yes Laura, we do hear howling at night. It's fox and maybe wolf heat season. You hear barking when it's dark - DH said it was foxes and not dogs. Today during the day I heard several gunshots clearly while in the house. I don't think it's any particular hunting season, particularly when the big cross country ski race is this weekend and thousands of people are flooding into town. So maybe someone was just target shooting in their yard. I am not looking forward to driving around during deer rutting season - my cousin said the bucks have one thing on their mind and they are practically insane with chasing the poor does. I will have to find them a safe area in the yard

For Lent I am giving up candy - started to have a real candy jones going on and I will miss it so a good thing to give up. I would consider it a personal accomplishment akin to quitting smoking if I could give up my Coca Cola habit but I know I can't and don't want to make a commitment I probably would not keep so I decided to compromise. Only 1 soda a day. I get to pick when I want it but only one. That will cause me enough suffering to count as a proper Lenten sacrifice. I actually skipped my evening soda tonight even though I thought about it all day long. And I am willing DH with the mind meld to finish the last of the M&M's in the bowl.

Did you decide on something for yourself Annie? I can't believe there is actually something involving cleaning / cooking that you don't want to do. Wow. Apparently it's quite buggy out on the lakes during the summer - and crowded too with seasonal folks so that's why the locals prefer winter or ice fishing I hear. We had a delicous dinner of baked walleye tonight - all cleaned and filleted courtesy of my cousin who said I could have all I want from his freezer so that's the kind of fishing I like  How nice that you got to babysit Lil Monkey and have him all to yourself. I'll bet grandma knows how to settle him down. How is your daughter doing? Getting a little less stressed I hope? Is she back at work with you or trying the stay at home Mom stuff?

Shad - funny story about the baby - hopefully it will inherit the wittiness that abounds in the family as well as good health and a quiet pregnacy. I certainly would never want you to take the risk of getting run down by a coal truck just to snap some pictures for your silly American friends. Besides, we might get too excited over all to see and come pile in your house and you would not be able to work then we would need to start a commune. I hope you got some restful sleep.

I am officially jealous of all of you who have temperatures in the 50s. :( It has decided to turn cold and snowy - people involved with the race obviously have connections upstairs. We ran into town this evening to pick up some butter and a newspaper and there were big piles of man made snow blocking the main street (but not the main road) which is the end of the race and they are preparing it for tomorrow's races to start. I hear we are due for a big storm Sunday night into Monday morning which will dump anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of snow on us. We are both tired of snow - mostly DH who has to shovel it. But he's the one who says plowing is fun. :dizzy:

Ceejay - I hope you are doing well - I second the don't let the turkeys get you down at work.

Mel - I love those your E Cards - they have several good ones on PINTEREST. I still go back and see those lovely tulips to brighten my day. Take a nice breath of the rain washed air for me. A gentle rain and mild temps sounds lovely. Good for sleeping too. And maybe watching some golden oldie movies. How much longer will you be sequestered? Jen will have to take you out in disquise. We will throw a sheet over you and wheel you out dressed like the ghost in the movie E.T. I loved that scene

Hi Java

It's bedtime so off I go. Goodnight ladies.

Laura705 02-23-2012 09:54 AM

Morning all.

Happy - Sorry to hear your credit card got hit again. That's awful! I'm not going to the movies as much as I used to -I've said before that going every week can get to be too much. We do, however, use discounted tickets that end up being about $6, and I rarely buy any snacks or beverages at the theater anymore, so it's not an expensive activity done that way. Still, there's sometimes nothing I want to see, or the times/places aren't right. So - no wolves in your area?? That's good, cuz that movie was sure scary. Of course, I got the shivers at Brookfield Zoo's wolf experience thingy where they essentially put you in a dark room and play howly wolf sounds, LOL. Oh and they might have had the glowy eyes lighting up on the wall, haha.

Mel - Yeh, I like looking at my avatar. And funny that you bring it up - I have been thinking about my bike! :bike: Especially when I'm running late for my morning train and I could use another 5 minutes or so, lol. But I'll be waiting until at least 3/12, which is the Monday after DST starts again because then it will be fully light in the evenings when I get off the train at home. :) Yeh, I liked that movie Love Actually too. The other ones that they've been making that are styled after it - Valentines Day, New Year's Eve, etc. - are not nearly as good. Sorry you've got inspections coming up, boo on the lack of privacy and the potential germ-leaving. :headache:

Hellos to the rest of the Worldies. :)
---
Another ho-hum day yesterday. Pilates. TV. Yes, I did change out my purse. I received a sweater I ordered online and it will go back - didn't like the color and it was a blend of many fibers, but it felt itchy. Deciding if I want to return it by mail or go to the store to return it. The store isn't nearby, but I do like going there to see what they have. And that way I can see, feel and try on the clothes!

Boss is out of the office at a class today, so that's nice. Not that she's been hovering or anything lately. Tonight - nothing planned. I think bf is going to the gym during the day, so I believe tonight will be the night I try out my new Margaret Richard workout.

Okay, let's see if anyone snuck in on me...

diyana 02-23-2012 10:41 AM

Happy Thursday ladies -

DH is home sick again today. Poor guy. He was doing better last week. Those days off the meds have really taken their toll. I just hope he starts feeling better soon. :(

I'm feeling a bit weaker today than the past couple days. I've been trying to meet so many deadlines at work (and thankfully I did) that I was running on adrenaline and pushing myself hard. Now that the adrenaline is gone, I'm really tired.

A friend (and website client) called last night. I've been more of a friend and less employee lately. She's been going through a rough few months. She's a newly recovering alcoholic and going to many AA meetings each week. She and her husband are recently separated. He moved to Washington State to look for work there since he was unable to find work here. If they get back togther, she will move there eventually. They just both needed a break to get their own sh*t together. Not that their relationship was a very healthy one anyway...dysfunctionality on both sides. Anyway, she was really upset on the phone last night. Since she and I normally get together at Starbucks on Fridays after work, I suggested that instead we do something fun...like dinner and a movie. I know that won't make everything magically better, but it did lighten her mood on the phone...giving her something to look forward to rather than the downward spiral she was in. She is in counseling, and she also speaks frequently with her AA sponsor. But other than that, most of her friends are old drinking buddies or just acquaintances...not people she's comfortable opening up to.

Yesterday, we were getting storm forecasts for today of anywhere from 2"-8" of snow. Thankfully that has now been downgraded to 1"-2" of snow, so hopefully neither DH nor I will have to snowblow (and since his lungs are much worse than my lungs/back combined, I'd be the one snowblowing). We're hoping Mother Nature spares us that work and melts it herself. :)

***************************

Laura - You're familiar with most of the movies out there. Are there any "feel good" movies that are not love stories? I'm thinking "Big Miracle". It sounds like a feel good story, and I really like Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski. I told my friend that I might even be nice and not make her sit through a showing of "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Pt. 1" at a budget theater even though I really like that movie. She said that would even be okay...she's just glad to be getting out. Thanks for the comments about the movie "The Grey". It looks like an outstanding movie, and I love Liam Neeson. I'm just not sure it would be the best choice for me and my friend tomorrow night. There's also the movie "Wanderlust" with Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston (both of whom I like) but as that's about a stressed out married couple where the man loses his job...eh, maybe not good. Too funny about the Cars song (Let the Good Times Roll). I've had that in my head for the past couple days too. Bummer about the broken zipper on the purse. Bummer that your movie and book club groups merged and some of your fave movie group folks have dropped off. What a coincidence you and Mel talking about your bike. I'm hoping to get to ride my bike some this spring. Have fun with Margaret R. tonight. :)

Shad - Good to hear that DS1's baby is as bright, friendly and talented as you are! With all the wildlife you see there (birds and breeding brahmins), if you could stop the car and shoot video, you could be the next Attenborough!

Annie - Glad to hear there is something we both agree on when it comes to cleaning...we don't clean FISH!

Happy - So sorry to hear about your credit card number being compromised again. I hope you aren't responsible for any charges. That secure account number thing sounds good. I wonder if my credit card company provides that. I'm getting that crazy permission thing with Shad's sign photos too. Weird. Did they ever tell you how you got your fungal infection (or nodule of infection)? We sometimes hear gunshots...but that's mostly during duck and goose season, and occasionally during deer season. I'm not sure I'd deal well with someone target shooting in their yard near me. We live in a subdivision and even though our lots are bigger than in the city, a stray shot could still hit a doggie. Definitely be careful up their during rutt season. Good luck with giving up candy, and with the 1 soda a day. Not sure I could do either. I can't decide what to give up for Lent...so I probably won't give up anything. So nice that your cousin is keeping you stocked in fresh walleye. We love going out on the boat in the spring/summer, and if you're on the water early enough (5 or 6 am) it's not too buggy and it's usually no-wake (meaning no waterskiers, jetskiers, etc.) until 10 am. Then we come home and take a nap. In the evenings, the mosquitos are bad, but it's still nice and peaceful to be out on the water in the moonlight.

Mel - That inspector better be fully cleaned and sanitized before he enters your apartment. I know you can't wait to be free...but I'll bet the doc has good reason to be cautious about letting you out and about. Get and stay well, my friend. :getwell:

Well, back to work for me. I've got a meeting in 20 minutes that I should do some additional prep for.

Much love and many hugs,

Hello every one.

It's a beautiful day outside with lots of sunshine. The temperatures are supposed to be in the mid 60's so I'm getting outside this afternoon. Think the sun shine will do me some good.
Things at work are okay. Had a nice long talk with my boss/friend on Tuesday. Just on my toes more with less internet time, not that this was the cause of my problem. Too much going on at the time of the back wash procedure. -- did at least 6 reconnects via phone during that process. And it takes a full 20 minutes to do the back wash procedure. Plus it was 6.30 p.m. and almost going home time.

Sorry about the card ordeal. I signed up for a secure type card at my bank and put x many dollars on it. I'm using this for gas purchases etc. I've also been told to push the cancel button on the gas pump after using my card. This is where a lot of damage is done to credit cards.

Eww that Brookfield zoo experience would have been to much for me. I'm curious about the Margaret Richard work out.

Sorry to hear about dh's relapse. Fungal infections are hard to get rid of. Glad you two went to the doctor to get med's.

I those those thunder boomers that are right over the top of the house. Some of them will make the house shake.
