Good morning all,
Quick check in for me. Last night I made a big pot of beef vegetable soup to use up what ever vegetables I could in the refrigerator. I also cleaned out both frigs because we will be gone and it will be 2 weeks before garbage gets picked up again. So that meant I threw out some stuff that while not quite bad, won't last until get back again. I always feel badly about that. I only picked up some meat and perishables last weekend, trying to use up as much as I can. DH said the soup smelled very good as it wafted through the house, to me for some reason it just smelled like grease and almost made me nauseated. Some things really get the acid reflux going. Time to pop the Nexium! I'm glad to hear that poor little DD is getting her catherer out Ellen. Hopefully it is not as bothersome to them as it would be to an adult. Sometimes kids just go with the flow better than we do. :crossed: that all goes well for her. Shad - yep, Snodgrass is another funny name. Regarding the hot water in the tank - here they tell us that not only can you get burned but from a more practical point of view, if you have the hot water tank set so high you can get a burn, you are actually wasting money if the tank is set too high. With our tank on the third floor - makes no sense to me - you get varying degrees depending on what tap you use. Takes almost forever to get hot water down to the first floor loo off the kitchen at the other end of the house. Or in the winter when it has to pass through pipes on the outside wall on the way to the kitchen sink. I forget this and then when I use the bath upstairs, the hot water is HOT and immediate and that's when it's a YIKES! Hope the new tank works well for you. Sounds interesting. Let us know how that works out. Hope Worldly chick is doing well too. Laura - it's funny you talk about the project paralysis. I am having the same issue with something I need to just finish already. Maybe we could help each other out. :^: Tis that time of the season when you just can't wait for the nice spring days and warmer weather to get into town, right? I always thought that when you'd get a teaser day with a break in the weather that the inevitable cold snap after that was 10 times colder  Enjoy your new art! Annie - sounds like someone on the wall "dropped in" to pay you a visit  I get creeped out when that happens. Lunch sounded yummy and not too much of a calorie bomb considering it was the Cheesecake Factory. Shad remembers their platter portions from when we went there in Chicago. Michelle - I'm sure you are definitely having some back issues from coughing. You need some old fashioned Watkins white linament with turpentine and menthol in it. Stinks to high heaven but the stuff works great. DH was walking all stooped and crooked yesterday from bending down and pulling wild onions out of the front yard. We baked and froze him (heating and ice packs) and I put some linament on his back. He was good as new this morning. Been using that for years and while not a miracle, it truly does help him. You can get Watkins online. There are distributors who sell online like Avon products. I saw your comment on FB about a chiropractor. If you have buldging discs, not sure they can help you out. They seem to work better with muscular and skeleton things - didn't do anything for DH and messed me up royal so I'm no fan but I know they work for some people so I would not put down the whole group as a whole. But years ago DH saw one in Chicago and he was the one who told him that there are some back issues chiropractic cannot help. Mel - lizard serum? You mean snake oil????? Hope your internet is getting hooked up nice and easy. We are missing you. Do you need any help - we have several I.T. type people here - I know I can screw you up big time - I am not a repair person. Good morning Ceejay  Ok, time for me to get off this and on to work. Have a good day chicks. |
Dang I keep forgetting to comment on MELLIE's lizard serum....it is made by Lilly Pharmaceuticals (sp), I temped at Lilly's in that particular department on the development of the drug. It is called Byetta.. is an injectable medicine used to treat type 2 (non-insulin dependent) diabetes. It is also tied to use in kidney ailments. It does make some people so nauseas they lose weight. It did my brother. Yes, ladies...it is actually made from the saliva of a Gila monster (lizard) from the desserts of the southern states, mostly Arizona. When I was at Lilly they had just gotten FDA approval and it was to hit the market soon thereafter I left...about 2004/5. While in development, it was called Exenatide.
That folks is my history lesson for today!!!! |
Got my laugh in for the day reading all the posts.
I'll be back later to comment. |
Morning all.
Shad – That Snodgrass woman sounds like a real character. Some people live up to their names, that’s for sure, or are definitely shaped by them - like that Johnny Cash song, A Boy Named Sue. Early hours for you - ugh. How long is this assignment supposed to last for you? Congrats on the solar hot water heater - like the idea of the power co paying me! Yeh, now the govt feels it has to legislate everything to compensate for lack of caution and common sense. Mel – So is today the day for you to get your speedy internet connection installed? :carrot: Hope all goes smoothly and you’re back to the Worldlies soon, posting at the speed of light, lol. Annie – I can see how CVS would give that woman a second chance, but – really??? She didn’t have a spare moment to call in (or have someone call in for her) and tell someone her situation??!! Fecker? Poor girl. Thanks for the suggestion – too bad I’ve already exceeded my day or two mulling-over period. We’re getting 40’s today, yay. Wow, the lizard serum wasn’t just Mel’s funny?! :lol3: Truth is stranger than fiction, so they say. Happy – Ofer, LOL. I’m sure that soup tastes as good as it smelled to dh! You’re so right - after the teaser temps, the “normal” winter temps just feel frigid. :brr: Course we’re below normal right now. Hope we get a spring though – I like having all 4 seasons! A turpentine & menthol liniment – now that sounds like something that needs to be heavily regulated along w/ those hot water temps. :D Ellen – Hope the removal goes smoothly today for dd. You’re getting around Chicagoland lately huh? Hellos to Ceejay & Michelle. :sunny: Last night’s movie was “The Lincoln Lawyer” with Matthew McConnaghy (sp??), Marisa Tomei and Ryan Phillipe. I’m not a fan of MM, but I really enjoyed it. It’s a legal thriller based on the book(s) by Michael Connelly, an author I haven’t read before, but whom bf enjoys. I think when I finally make it through this horrible book club book I will reward myself by checking out one of his books. This morning as I was carrying doggie’s water bowl to the sink to rinse & refill it, I dropped it and made a mess and a racket. At least the kitchen floor’s a bit cleaner now, lol. And a short time ago I sloshed my tea all over the counter in the coffee/copy room. Aargh. !!! Klutz alert !!! Today I will pay my property taxes at lunch time. I brought a sandwich for lunch. Yesterday I ate loads of junk, so today I will eat healthier. Tonight I will go to an exercise class. Well, the schedule only shows Body Sculpt @ 7 pm and Zumba @ 8 pm. Not sure I’m up for the Sculpt – my elbow is not up to par yet, and I don’t want to do an 8 pm class. So maybe I’ll do my Firm Cardio Party dvd down in the basement. Okay, time to run. Everyone have a good day!! |
Laura....mmmmmmmmmmm Matthew McConnaughy, quite the yummy, he was on Ellen when I was off sick last week...that put a bright spot in my day....I am planning on seeing the movie as that is what they were talking about at the time.

OMG - you guys and these names! :lol3:  You got me laughing now and I just know I am going to be laughing at inappropriate times in the boring meetings I have this afternoon :s:
And if I calm down, then there is Annie's stripper name poppin' in my head :lol3: |
LAdies All went well, we stopped off at Als beef...wish we still lived closer...I miss Chicago food so much, but then I would weigh about 500 pounds LOL DD1 and I are finally off for our mani! Have a great afternoon/morning!!

I have to think about room assignments at the commune. I think Mel needs the man cave so she can easily wheel in and out. There are 6 stairs up from the ground level to entry doors. We can't pitch tents over the septic field so have to be kind of careful about that and we have to leave room for an extra large garden and the clothesline.
I will post pictures after we get back and we can figure it out. |

I miss the Italian lemonade from Garabaldi's. I do get my fix of Palermo's pizza when I go into the city to see my Mom but... with our travels this year and hauling the trailer, I might not get to see her at all   Sister said she would hook up the internet camera phone for us. Anyway ... glad all is well with your daughter Ellen. Enjoy your beef sandwich! I hope you got it dipped... :T :T :T |
