Good morning kids,

It's a very rainy stormy day today. My co-worker's boy scout group went out for their first camp out of the year this weekend. It's cold and very wet and very stormy. Last weekend was sunny and in the 80's. Such is spring down here. We are supposed to go to a pancake breakfast benefit this morning but it's sure looking ugly out there. We are meeting a friend for an early supper tonight so that will be nice even though our day is going to be broken up. I really want to hit the packing boxes. I also need to go through the refrigerator and find a way to use up all the vegetables in there before we leave. And that's my weekend in a nutshell.

Mel - it's true that a lone snow pile looks so out of place, especially this time of year.

My Mom got some snow this week and she had her shorts all twisted in a knot because her sidewalk got more snow than the neighbors  She sure is getting fiesty!

DH is bugging me to get ready so we can go to the breakfast. See yah later...

Morning
Getting ready to go to Paragould. I haven't started to pack yet either. Ugh.

Mel
Enjoy the quiet week end. I love the do nothing day's. I'll go back to work Monday. This is my 4 day week end.

Happy
We had a rumble of thunder early this morning with rain. Hope it stay's dry enough for my drive to paragould.

wave to every one else.

Another Drive by for me...I am still trying to catch up on all the posts. Hating this COld weather, wishing it would get warmer alredy DD 3 would feel so much better if she could sit outside and feel the warm air.

DD3 is doing well, came home on Thursday afternoon, and pain has been manageable. She will still have a Catheder for a few more days. Right now we are fighting the urge not to eat anything...She has been feeling nausous (sp?) and has puked a few time, but I believe it is due to her not eating much and her drinking has been minimal. How do you explaine to a 7yo that she needs to eat in order to feel better and that not eating will make it worse.
Also found out after the surgery that they had to put stents in to help with the healing process because she is older, so we will have to sched a separate proceedure to have those taken out.

Hopefuly between all the appts this week we can find some time to so some spring cleaning, and find something Fun to do with our little bed bound one.

Luv and hugs everyone!

Morning all,
Busy day yesterday with gardening activities. Had to retie and restake the tomatoes. The crop is not huge, but it sure has big fruit. And they taste yummo. One of the potato plants appears to be ready to harvest and then the lawns which should be slowing growth but seem to refuse to do so had to be cut and today the hedge could do with a trim - seems the interminable rain we had this summer has set things a growing fast.
Of course there is the usual mountain of washing to be done and the patio must be cleaned up for the arrival of the solar hot water system tomorrow. DS2 will be home to supervise that. Two of the orchids are ready for repotting and I will go down to get the pots for that this morning and hopefully get them done, fertilised and watered today as well.

Dinner went off okay on Friday, we went to the Thai Orchid - I had steamed dim sum and a massaman curry (beef). It was nice but obviously the curry was well salted since there was a definite weight spike on Saturday. Haven't weighed today yet to see if some of it is now gone. Been having a few elimination issues this week as well which hasn't helped. Sorry if that was TMI.

Not going to do personals right now as I need to get out into the garden and dig up the last small growing space. When I go to the garden shop this morning I will no doubt arrive home with some more stuff to plant!

Back later.

upswife 03-27-2011 10:48 AM

Good Morning Ladies!

**Just realized that I cannot add I have DS, DD1 DD2 (had Surgery) and DD3 I only have 4 kids!!! I think my brain is just starting to function again. LOL**

Got some sleep last night, Dr said pain meds as needed so I gave it to DD2 right b4 bed then DH was up early with "elimination problems" and gave her another dose. So I got to sleep in. Yay!! Sorry If I forgot to mention. DD2 had reflux betweent her bladder and kidney since she was little and when we went in for all the testing this year we found that no only did she not grow out of it, but that she developed it on the other side as well. So it was reccomended that She have the surgery to correct it. Since we also found that she had some scarring on her kindey we decided not to wait.

SHe is doing much better today...but I had to go in and check on her every 15 mins yesterday to make sure she was nibbling and sipping at her water. But I could tell she is feeling better from her mood today. Hopefully she will continue to push the water and will be able to have her cateder out tomorrow or tuesday.

Mel~Glad you had a quiet day yesterday. Hope today stays calm for you. I really know what you mean, been trying to avoid turning up the heat here...gas is so expensive...but I woke up thismorning and DH had turned on our small space heater...nice and toasty, but not looking forward to the bills!!

Shad~wish I had your garden, but DH does not want me to tear up the yard... :( mayb e one of these days, tho our Teddy would prob just tear it up anyways. He is such a PIA sometimes.

Well, have to get moving. DH is staying home with DD2 and DD3 and I am taking DS and DD1 to church since I usually have to work thru Sunday and don't get a chance to get to Mass.

Have a lovely day all!!

upswife 03-27-2011 11:24 AM

I finally caught up on the posts!!! :cheer:

ceejay52 03-27-2011 06:33 PM

Ellen
So glad that the dd2 is getting better.

Mel
What a good about keeping a police officer handy! Glad that your week end was almost normal.

Shad
You are making my mouth water for home grown tomato's. My neighbor mowed my lawn last week so hopefully it will not need it this week.

I had a good time Saturday. Ate lunch with 2 of my uncles. One couldn't make it because his son was home for a visit and was leaving around the same time we were eating. Afterwards my aunt and I did our usual running around, and got caught in a huge down pour. Went to church this morning and afterwards.
Now it's time to start thinking about the work week.

happy2bme 03-27-2011 07:32 PM

Hi all,

Pancake breakfast turned out nicer than I thought it would be. Had a good dinner with a friend last night. Had wood grilled salmon that was cooked perfectly. Yum Yum. Today I have been flitting around the house going through the bedding deciding what to pack for our trip. I want to freshen up the sheets so talk about a Mt. Washmore. Besides that and regular laundry, I must have at least 12 loads! I am also gathering things here and there, made reservations for the cat hotel, 2 overnights for us and trying to get as much as I can done so that it doesn't get too frantic at the last minute.

Ellen - poor DD - how traumatic for a little girl to have to deal with all that. I'm glad she is taking it well. There seems to be a rather substantial difference between People's Gas and Northern IL Gas companies. Don't know why - we had NI Gas and paid alot less than others.

Mel - yep, sometimes it's an omen to just stay in the warm bed and not leave  Why do the police have to keep showing up with the alarms? Is it protocol just like the firemen show up? I know you said you get alot of burnt toast false alarms. Are the seniors apts hooked up to some central system? Maybe they just like gawking at the guys in blue or want someone to talk to :D

Shad - was good talking with you yesterday. I will have to get your gardening tips once we move. However instead of your climate, we will have a short, cool season. Wonder if I can get some chicken-sheet from the farm down the road. My pod mate said that's the best fertilizer. I guess chickens output alot of nitrogen. Still boggles my mind that growing stuff in poop is good. But podmate said the plant only takes the good stuff and ignores the bad stuff - kind of like our internals should be doing. I hope you whipped everyone into shape and have a good week at work coming up.

Ceejay - I'm surprised you ventured out yesterday. Was a pretty gloomy weekend and judging from all the tree gum balls in the yard, it must have been rather windy too. Our little tease of warm weather has gone back into hiding. More like fall than spring out here.

Hello to the rest of the chicks  hope you are having a good weekend. I found a recipe for a beef vegetable soup that you slow bake in a low oven. Not sure I can work out the timing on that so instead I think I will just pop it in the crock pot tomorrow morning and let it simmer all day long. Now I've got to go find us something on the light side for dinner. See yahs

Laura705 03-27-2011 08:27 PM

Hello all.

Ceejay – Very interesting that your aunt had a uti every time she took a steroid pack. Something to track for yourself, but let’s hope you don’t need any steroids for a long time to come! Oh, and I watched part of a pbs tv special Fri night about how your digestion impacts your health. One recommendation was that when you take antibiotics, you should also take probiotics to help restore the good bacteria that the antiobiotics wipe out along w/ the bad. Hope you got to and from Paragould w/ no rain to make driving a hassle. Hope you’ve enjoyed your 4-day weekend.

Happy – My eyesight is so poor, I always wonder how much worse it could get, but as long as it’s correctable, I too should be grateful. Ugh, wouldn’t want to hear a co-worker crunching on ice all day. :nono: I imagine your thoughts these days may be something like, "I won't miss that when I retire." Did your headache go away once the workweek ended? Sounds like a nice mix of social and chores this weekend.

Mel – I was hoping your weekend was nice & quiet - too bad about those !@#$ alarms.

Ellen – Glad dd3’s pain has been manageable. Have you gotten her to eat?? Somehow I got confused thinking dd3 was 3 yo, and wondered why you were explaining the need to eat to a 7 yo. Duh. Prolly a good thing I don’t have kids. Glad the recovery is coming along.

Shad – How did all the gardening go over the weekend? Sounds nice. The tomatoes we get on sandwiches and other food are just awful – pink or white and devoid of flavor. Some places have little signs that say they aren’t even using tomatoes at the moment due to lack of availability – supplier crop/weather issues. Can’t wait for my own tomatoes this season, or the farmers market offerings. As for current gardening chores - we have more residual leaves from last fall to clean up, but I’m not up for that while it’s still in the 30’s – and windy - which is what we had the past two days. Bf and I also had Thai - for lunch yesterday. Curry for us too (penang, w/ chicken),yum- yum.

Hellos to Annie & Michelle.

Been a good weekend so far. Friday was grilled calamari and a goat cheese/shrimp/pesto pizza for dinner w/ bf at a nice Italian restaurant in our little downtown area. Saturday morning was a step class. The schedule said it was the beginner one, but it was NOT. But it was a very good workout and I’d do it again. Glad I’m saying that about a lot of the classes I’ve tried. Lunch was out – Thai. Laundry, dog walk after that. Bf and I tried to change our return flight to extend our vacay in the Pacific NW, but no luck. Need to check back in another 4-5 days. Not hopeful. My dinner was out too – I met w/ friends at the place where the Journey cover band was playing. Nice evening, even though the band now plays less of the Journey music and more of other 80’s music. And one of the band guys now has quite a beer gut, lol.

Today I had a lazy morning, then I took doggy for a walk. Lunch out (yes, I agree to darn much of the eating out this weekend!!) and then I finally finished sewing the convertible mittens. And good riddance – what a PITA project! On to the caps that will match our fleece snuggly throws. Those will be easy - only one pattern piece. Two if I decide to add pompoms, lol.

Another day off tomorrow – ahh. Should do an exercise class in the AM so I have the rest of the day for leisure. We’ll see how that plays out.

TTFN!

Shad 03-27-2011 10:15 PM

Back at work again. Boy Monday sure rolls around fast. I did get my to do list cleaned up this weekend and even had one day where I did not have to put on a load of laundry. I may live to regret that statement come the middle of the week.

Someone must have turned down the air con over the weekend. It is so cold in here, I am about to put my jacket on. Mind you I don't know how I know it is cold since I have left my brain somewhere and don't know where to go look for it. Work should be busy, but I am taking my time - at least until the brain decides to show up.

My tomatoes are all pruned and tied up again, trouble is the fruit at the top is so heavy that the stalk disappears down the stake again. I might have to get bigger stakes for the next lot. Don't think the carrots will come to much and I have 4 feeds off the beans. I dug up one of the potato plants. The top had dried off and disappeared so I figured it was ready. There was only one tiny little potatoe on the stalk. So I don't think I will get too much out of them either. It may be because they were too old when I put them in, but lets just wait and see what happens.

The grasshoppers are eating the roses and they look like they need a good prune and feed so guess what is on the menu for next weekend. Beans will come out and I planted some lettuce yesterday and hopefully that will be up and running come next weekend and the snails don't get 'em. I'd better snail bait tonight.

Ellen - good to hear that DD2 is going along ok and is eating and drinking again.

Happy - Happy packing. Don't forget the toilet roll. There probably isn't one in the house

Mel - fire alarms and policemen. Hope you saw something you liked. Not long now to hook up and the monster is unleashed.

Ceejay - sounds like a nice time was had by all.

Hope Annie is okay - she is very quiet out there. This flu seems to lay people really low.

Anyway better get on with the job. Here it is lunch time and I haven't sorted out much yet on the job. The solar water heater goes in today. I hope it all sorts itself out soon. Looking forward to the power company getting to pay me instead of me paying them.

See yah

happy2bme 03-28-2011 08:15 AM

Good Monday morning,

I'm thinking this week will fly by. Next Monday I will be signing my life away  Lots to do but so far I am on track. I must have washed 12 loads of bedding/towels/clothes yesterday and I STILL have about 4 more loads to do :faint: I was trying very hard to stay focused an not flit. My nose is running too and thanks (NOT) to the meth heads down this way, I can no longer get the Actifed which is the only thing that helps my allergies. Nothing works quite as well and the next best thing I like after that is that I only have to take it when I need it. I have this thing about a 3 prescription pill limit and I am there already so I don't want a daily allergy pill on top of that. Besides I have heard that the allergy meds are very expensive. So I guess I will just suffer. I have to work up the nerve to try that neti pot too.

Shad - growing potatoes. Hmmm that is interesting. Don't hear of too many people growing their own potatoes unless they have a very big garden. Beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, squash and the like are more the norm. My podmate likes to garden and she has blueberry bushes. I wouldn't mind them but they takes several years to mature from what I understand. I hope you find your brain this morning, mine just doesn't want to wake up

Laura - glad you got the mittens out of the way, on to something more fun now. Sounds like you had a nice mix of fun stuff, chores and a few good workouts. It's great that you find a class challenging AND you'd do it again. Sounds like this exercise pass / sample classes was a good idea.

Miss Annie - are you doing ok? You've been quiet here and on FB. Hope you aren't sick :(

Michelle - when is DMIL coming into town? Is this an extended visit or is this it with her moving in? How will you get her stuff to your place?

Good morning Mel - you usually beat me in and I don't feel you hovering so I hope you are just taking 30 minutes extra under the snuggly covers.

Hope DD is doing better Ellen.

Good morning Ceejay - did you get the thunderboomers last night too? Some really bright lightening.

I need to go get one load out of the dryer so I'll cut this short. Will talk later.

MELODY525 03-28-2011 08:39 AM

annie175 03-28-2011 08:46 AM

Good Morning Worldlie Chicks.....I am not even going to try to catch up on personals altho I have read through them. I am about 60% better however back to work today. I did work both days at CVS over the weekend all the while miserable. We had a girl not show up on Saturday and Sunday, didn't even call...needless to say she no longer works there. My manager felt so badly for me working Saturday night by myself, that he bought my dinner. Really didn't make me feel any better only that someone cared...;)

I only work at CVS Tues and Friday this week with the weekend off. No running around or partying...just resting up for a while. Sleeping is my friend.

Been drinking tons of water, eating oranges and fresh fruit and being kind to myself. Went to bed at 8pm last night. Doing the same tonight.

For those of you (Chelle) that are ailing with on-going illnesses/pains, I now have even more sympathy for you cause this last bout of crap I have is awful. I do know what caused all this after talking with my brother, we forgot how allergic I am to cigarette smoke and the bar his band played in last Friday night was horrid.

OK, enough whining and me me me.....on a better note I passed my mammo test with flying colors....yeah!!

BIG hello's to everyone...thank you for the get well wishes.

Loves and hugs.
