Default C25K: A New Batch

Hello, Ladies!
So I know there are a few C25K threads out there already, but they are (for the most part) either dead or have more advanced runners (weeks 8 and 9) carrying on a conversation. If you know of one that isn't please drop me a message Currently, I am entering Week 4 of the program and have come to the point where I need some support to keep trekking onwards...sooo, I was wondering if there were any more people out there who are just beginning/in the middle of the C25K program as well. Program Graduates are welcome, also, to help give us advice and support! I'm excited to hear from a lot of you guys!

I am thinking about starting it tomorrow. I would love to find other people who are just starting so we can all support and encourage eachother.

Welcome, Rated and omgzitsmiranda I'm excited to see you guys here. I recommend starting the program -- yes, it's hard, but I'm already reaping the rewards from it. You can most definitely do it! I couldn't run a minute at the start and now I'm tacking on extra runs because I want to prove to myself that I can ... and I can now! Do you ladies plan to run outside or on the treadmill?

I should be starting week 4 tomorrow! The longer runs and shorter walks terrify me though. I'd love to have an active c25k thread to post in.

Thanks ! I think I'm going to mainly start outside, but we'll see how the weather holds up lol. But if I can keep up with it, then I may look into getting a gym membership for once I'm not so anxious of working out in front of other people

Yeah I started this program last week after coming back from an injury from prior running. I really like it so far. Week 2 here I come!

Yah - glad to see a new thread on C25K! I am supposed to start Week 3 today. However, I am going to modify week 3 and run for two minutes instead of the 3 minutes, which I know I just can't handle at this point. So I guess you could say I'm on Week 2 1/2 Day 1!

Hi everyone I am a complete 3FC newbie, and have yet to post my intro and get all the pretty tickers and stuff going, but I wanted to post here and say hello so I'll have some accountability when I go to the gym tonight! Today is the first day of my "recommitting" - I signed up for a gym membership last week and will be going for the first time after work today... I had tried C25K several months ago but gave up after W1D6 because I got horrible shin splints from running outside .. so I still have the podcasts on my iPod and will be hitting the gym tonight with purpose! Looking forward to making this journey will all of you ^.^

hey everyone! i actually started week one last week, but i think i'm going to repeat it this week as well. it got interrupted due to getting my tattoo touched up
so i'll be doing week one day 1 today. question- do you ladies do it 3x per week or more? i was thinking of definitely doing three but trying for 4x. excited to grow along (or shrink!) along with you guys!
i'll be doing it on a treadmill, as there is a small fitness room in my building and seattle is, well, a rainy place.

I am new to the forums, but I would love to be a part of this challenge. C25K is something I've longed to do, but I always lose the motivation long about week 2. Maybe with a little support and accountability I can hold on.

I plan to start today, 1-25 on Week 1 Day 1 and will probably do week 1 twice, as I'm not an avid runner.

I'm excited about actually finishing it this go round.

Default Welcome to all!

Chicks! Wow, it's great to see so many of you embarking on this journey!
For those of you in weeks 1-3, keep going! It really does get easier day by day. Haha, that is until you start another week.
Omgzitsmiranda -- Mmhmm.[/B] Oh, you're braver than I! I applaud you for going outside. We're having snow and ice in KY right now, so I figured I'd better stick with the gym... I, too, felt anxious at the thought of working out with other people. I thought the majority would be skinny people who wouldn't want me invading their habitat, but when I went, I discovered that 60% of the people at my gym are as big as I am!! That was a real wake-up call for me, and now I don't feel so self-conscious going to the gym.[/B]

fillupthesky-- For the past three weeks, I've been running at least 3x a week (Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday) and then I'll do another run on Friday to make sure I'm ready for the next week. On Mondays and Wednesdays, I cross-train with the elliptical and the bike, and on Saturdays I'm off.
So I'm not gonna lie -- For me, Week 4, Day 1 was really challenging. The three-minute runs were only mildly annoying, but I had to push myself to finish the 5-minute runs without stopping to walk. It was hard, and I'm not incredibly excited about repeating that experience, but I got my first compliment about my newly-almost-shapely butt muscles today and that makes me want to keep running

thank you for the warm welcome!!!

so i did week one monday and yesterday, and plan on going at it again today. i'm doing only cardio this week because i'm waiting on a tattoo to heal. the artist recommended that i don't get on the floor for abs and such (its on my back) so i decided to forgo my stength routine this week. so cardio it is.
my normal routine is 30DS 3x week, yoga on my days off of 30DS, and cardio (which will now be c25k) 3x week.

running is super hard for me. i don't know HOW i'm going to run for three minutes...i'm hoping my endurance will build. do you think its a bad idea to do this daily? the good news is, i'm enjoying running, well the after effects. i get the natural high, you know. and i feel very accomplished and proud that i made it through

Fillupthesky-- No prob... Oh, I know about running being hard. I gave myself a nosebleed my first workout :/ I know everyone says it'll get easier, but that's because it does! Running will remain a strain because your heart rate is up, your muscles are moving rapidly, and you're actively and aerobically burning calories. The way I see it, if you're not uncomfortable when you're running, something is totally wrong. It does get easier and more fun as you go, though, and when you run your first 5-minute run, it feels awesome. I'm praying that your week goes well!
As for me, I believe I am developing shin splints in my right leg :'( I've rested for two days, iced it a few times a day, and have remained thoroughly drugged with aspirin and ibuprofen (alternating those, of course). However, I don't know if my leg is ready to begin week 5.
I don't go to the gym until evening, so I'll see how it feels, wrap it up good and tight before I go, and hopefully begin week 5 today.
I hope you all have a great week running!!!

With all due respect: Nonsense.

Fit runners are not uncomfortable when they run. When they race, maybe, but run? Train? Long run? Nope.
