Enough to be festive but tastefully simple (that's my b.s. answer for I didn't have time)

Good morning Worldlies. We got a tiny sprinkling of snow overnight. I'm sorry I didn't get to see it falling. Sun is out and it's mostly gone now. DH is about to shut off the water for several hours working on the bathroom so I don't have time to post right now - just waiting for the washer to finish so I can be done with water.

Hope you are all having a good weekend. I'll be back later.

Hey everyone. Hair appt went fine. Stopped by the resale shop for my 5 books for a buck. Looked but didn't buy any of the huge amount of Christmas decor they had for sale/on sale. I don't need more - I have to get rid of a bit more of what I have, and then I'd like to just buy very specific stuff for specific spots. If I don't know where it'll fit, I won't buy it. Came home and wiped off the books.

The realization is upon me that Christmas is a week away and we haven't finished shopping. Or decorating. Or baking. The last two aren't critical, but the shopping is a must. Sigh. The one I like the least.

Happy - Good luck with the plumbing work today!! I like the idea of postponing your Christmas until January when you can see your family.

Mel - Ooh, tips! Nice. And you spent them wisely. You deserved those cookies for being the delivery center for the office shoppers!!! Glad everything good for you and yours right now.

Shad - Hope you're not on your way to Mars right now w/ the chili! Looking forward to getting the newsletter whenever it comes. Safe travels, and enjoy your time in Singapore.

Ceejay - You have been having fun with the money returned by the doc, huh? Jewelry, washer/dryer. Fun and practical!!

Hellos to Annie & Michelle, and Kasey - who's probably out having fun during your break from school!!

Okay, better get up to something or the day will be gone before I know it.

To be honest I'd saved up for the washer and dryer by using a Christmas Club account at the bank. And I didn't spend all of it. Sears had their appliances on sale plus the sales rep gave me another 10% discount if I used my Sears Card. The doc's money is mine all mine. I feel like I won the lottery. Got your card today, thank you.

Mel
I'm like Happy just --just enough decorations to be festive.

My first load of clothes in the new dryer are done. This time only thirty minutes. My old dryer would have been about 60 for delicates. I think this dryer has a bigger drum than my old one also. My new washer has a sensor for the water level and I'm not used to that. It has no adjitator (sp) either, and I have to get use to the new sound. The first one Sears brought out quit working mid way through. I called them and they came back to check on it but had one on the truck just in case. They were very nice about it.

My neighbor hit me up for some more money early this morning. She said her phone was going to be cut off. I'm not responsible for that. She has money for anything else she wants to do. Kinda had a sneaky feeling that she was going to ask. She always does when pay day comes around. This time I put some money on a Walmart money card and told her I didn't have any cash. I hope she doesn't ask any more. She had been to a yard sale and bought an outfit for 10 dollars and spent that much on alterations. In my opinion I don't owe her anything. Yes, she was good to take me to the doctor but I've paid for that already. Sorry, I'm not buying her friendship. Sorry for the rant.

It's late and need to get things ready for work in the morning.

Went back and read the older post. Wow tips. That was nice and had a giggle when you stole the baked goodies.

I missed the snow. sigh. If we got anything I thought the remains was frost.

Glad you have had a quiet week end thus far. Guess it's the season for all these extra sweet's but I've been craving them lately.

There's supposed to be a lunar eclipse with in the next couple of day's. I may have to miss it, but i do like to watch those.

The power blinked at the plant. Had to jump up and turn every thing off. No phone calls so it must have been a fluke.--Maybe every one is in church.

The new dryer took 20 minutes to dry my jeans. Yesterday when they took out the washer I wanted to clean out from under it. I knew that neither of these machines was not going to last long. It was worse than I expected. I think that was another thing that was bugging neighbor was the fact that I didn't offer to give the old ones to her. From now on, I'm chunking things and not saying any thing about it.

Hello Worldlies.

Ceejay - Sounds like you're happy w/ the new washer/dryer set. Nice that all the money back from the doc can be fun money for you!! Good idea to save in a Christmas club for the washer/dryer. I had a friend who opened several separate savings accounts for each of her savings goals. Best not to offer the old appliances to anyone if they are well past their prime. And that neighbor shouldn't look to you for charity when she mismanages her money!!

Mel - Did it stay quiet today??? I like your mantel avatar. Bf and I bought one more gift yesterday. Still have a few more to go. I could use a personal shopper, that's for sure!

Not much to report. I've been doing laundry today. I also put up the small Christmas tree and decorated it. I'd like more lights in the house - I love the glow. And we never did hang any outdoor lights, so we can't even have the blinds slightly open to see those lights. Made a yummy SW chicken-veg soup today - recipe was from a co-worker. Ate some for lunch. Yummy - this recipe is a keeper! I'll post the recipe once I add my comments to it.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! G'night all.

Morning all,
Did start a post at 1.27am this morning but it must have got lost somewhere in the confusion.
I seem to have picked up some sort of bug and although feeling reasonably okay this morning, certainly wasn't yesterday.
Singapore is very expensive but there are plenty of sales on right now. I haven't bought anything yet, but might be lucky to find something today. It is very difficult to find the right sizes. Everything is tiny.

No personals, I'll have a go at them this evening before this connection runs out. Better try and find some breakfast. At least there is no shortage of good cheap food here.

Hi everyone -

I had a lovely weekend. Did a little more decorating, more baking cookies, and lots of relaxing with John and the dogs. I was telling DH that I feel so very blessed. I have a wonderful family, including DH and our loving 4-legged kids. I have great friends (online and offline). I have a nice home, and a good job that I enjoy most of the time.

And I'm so glad it's a short week...I work Monday, am taking Tuesday off, and work Wednesday. If it wasn't for crucial tasks and meetings on Monday and Wednesday, I would've taken one of those days...but oh well...any extra paid day off is good.

Sounds like a few of you got haircuts...I probably should've scheduled a haircut for this past weekend...but I didn't. I was enjoying the low key weekend.

Ceejay - Congrats on the new washer and dryer!! Do you get time off for the holidays? Are you spending Christmas in Paragould? So nice that the came out right away to take care of the first one that didn't work. That neighbor has A LOT of nerve asking you for money when she spent $20 on an outfit. I agree with Mel...lock the frassin' door and don't answer it for any begging neighbors. Your new dryer dried jeans in 20 minutes?! That's fantastic! I'd be interested in learning how long it takes for it to dry towels.

Mel - So glad that the seniors had fun at their party!! How wonderful that Richie's unemployment extended!! Congrats on getting the electric help and TIPS too!! Good for you for grabbing some baked goods. You certainly deserve it.

Annie - Did you have the date with the milkman/fireman?

Laura - I hate strong perfumes in the office...or even worse, in an elevator. Nothing shuts down my asthma AND causes a migraine faster than strong perfumes. 5 books for a buck!! That's a great resale shop!

Happy - I found myself doing a lot of flittering about this weekend...and I thought of your flitter button each time! Just come visit me and DH or your relatives up here next time you want to see snow falling. Do we get to see some photos of the beautiful bathroom after the renovations are done?

Shad - I hope you enjoy your time in Singapore. Will you be getting home for Christmas then? What are you doing awake and starting a post at 1:30 am? That's crazy! Those sound like Happy's hours. I hope you get over your bug soon.

Well, I'm going to sign off and watch the Packers game. I'll check in tomorrow morning.

Lots of love and hugs,

MICHELLE....YOUR WEEKEND SOUNDED VERY NICE. LOTS OF GOOD THOUGHTS GOING ON OVER THERE IN YOUR HOUSE. HOPING THAT YOUR DR CAN BLESS YOU WITH PAIN RELIEF AS WELL

SHAD....SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOU GOT A BUG!! HOPE YOU'RE LIKING SINGAPORE AND FIND SOME OF THOSE SALES FOR THINGS YOU WANT. ENJOY AND FEEL BETTER

Good morning everyone,

I guess I got lost over the weekend. Did get the house decorated but still have 2 rooms left to clean tonight. We got some snow overnight last night - felt more festive but by noon it was all gone.

DH really worked hard on Saturday with the plumbing. He didn't finish until midnight as there was a leak. He was in a tightly cramped position for hours, not good with someone with as many aches and problems as he is but we needed the water on so he plugged away. I was down to one last bucket of water for the toilet The one bath tub we have left apparently doesn't have a tight stop and the water I filled slowly leaked down the drain as the day wore on.

Back to work now - at least it's a 4 day week. Hoping it will be a quiet one. I will have to catch up with you at lunch today. I tried to get on the WW site this morning and it's not working - won't let me log in. I'm not happy about that - send them an email and they better get on it fast

Anyway - talk to you later.

Hi ladies -

I have been in such a good mood lately. I just hope it lasts. And nothing happens at work today to ruin it. I chalk it up to having hope that the pain will soon end. DH's cousin is picking me up after the procedure. She's a teacher and is on Christmas break next week. So DH's aunt called me yesterday to say she was worried for me about the "surgery". I said, it's really not surgery...no incisions...essentially just needle sticks. We always go over to DH's aunt and uncle's for Christmas Day, and I told her we will be there for sure and found out what she wants us to bring...soda and DH's famous pumpkin pies (easy peasy for me!). We also usually go over there and play cards on New Year's Eve, and I told her we definitely still want to do that, but it will depend on how sore I am from the procedure.

Shad - I hope you're feeling better by now...so you can get out and enjoy shopping in Singapore!

Mel - I'm glad you had a fairly quiet weekend and are taking the day off. You are so right about greedy people. I don't mind doing things for the appreciative, but when it's expected or practically demanded...my door and wallet can close pretty darn fast! Your fireplace avatar makes me feel all warm and cozy when I look at it.

Happy - I'm glad to hear you got the house decorated. I'm going to finish my tidying tomorrow since I have tomorrow off. I'm going to wrap DH's presents and then put away the wrapping supplies. I also plan to spend my day off enjoying some good movies, relaxing with the doggies and maybe playing with our Wii. So sorry to hear of your DH's struggles with the plumbing. I hope things go smoother for him. Short weeks are nice, except when you're expected to complete 5 days' worth of work in 3 or 4 days. I hope you have a great week!

I'll be back later to check in with the rest of y'all!

Love and hugs,

Morning

Michelle
Sounds like you enjoyed your week end. I love those low keyed week ends myself. And if the weather holds up-no snow-i'll be going to Paragould and spend Christmas eve and part of Christmas day with my uncle and his family.
That's what it's about for me. I'll call both my sister's that day as well.

Happy
I'm doing the WW on line, but haven't been counting points. I've been using their pyramid and it's working except for those times I have a sweet tooth. And even now sweets are to sweet.

Mel and Michelle
I've come to the conclusion that my neighbor is more greedy than needy. I think she got the message the other day that I would not be helping her any more. She has 2 son's both with good jobs but yet she comes to me.

More later.

Just heard on the news that Europe is having another bad snow storm. My bil is in Africa and is supposed to return on the 21. I hope he makes it.
