  • DONNA ~ we have here again today; but our first snow used to fall around mid-October but always melts too. The last two years, the snow didn't stay until the first week of November, but it has been much colder this year, so we may see some sooner. That's a great idea to just plan your dinners on your erasable board. I have a weekly menu for the same and it's on the side of my fridge (the side nearest to my stove); just a glance and I know what we are having. The night before or the AM, I go out to the freezer and grab whatever meat we need out.

ERILUO ~ sounds like a good plan to me ...

CIN ~ many people weigh themselves first thing in the AM, just after a visit to the loo (ladies room) which is the same time, same place, same way, etc that is often recommended.

TO EVERYONE ELSE too ~ spent my morning doing laundry and light house chores; we are just having leftovers from yesterday's dinner tonight. The has made it feel very chilly in here today; don't like that feeling at all. Hope you all have a great day ... Rosebud
  • Hey everyone... I'm back after spending a hectic week with my Texas co-worker. We had fun and I ate the best I could (we ate out a lot) but I still haven't gotten brave enough to get on a scale.

Donna - Really sorry to hear about your Dad, mine is also terminally ill

There was some other stuff I wanted to post but I don't have a lot of time right now. I'll have to check in later.
  • Cindie, I live in LaSalle; we moved here in February just after my son was born. It's quite a big apartment so it's great, but rent is pretty steep. We're hoping to buy a house in about a year. We're thinking more towards Valleyfield or even Saint-Zotique. The houses there are pretty big and much cheaper.

Rosebud, speaking of rain, we've been getting some of that rain here too. We had some this morning and now again. I actually just made it home in time from picking up my daughter at school. The rain started pouring just as we got in the door.
    -----------------------
I sorta had a lazy day today; I was planning to exercise earlier but I always feel sleepy when it rains. That, and my little one just doesn't nap anymore (not for longer than 10 or 15 minutes at a time. I was hoping he'd fall asleep on our way home but no luck with that today. I think I may just wait til he goes down for the night.
  • Welcome to the newbies!!

Donna and Aunty Jam-sorry to hear about your fathers. Mine is an end-stage alcoholic and waiting placement in a nursing home at age 64. Completely bedridden and not expected to live more than a year.

Rose- I don't have a weekly menu but I do write in what the kids are helping me cook for supper. Hubby cooks one night (usually BBQ) and the kids each pick one or two nights and I write down what they want to cook. Does help especially as one or two nights are leftovers!! lol

creative mom of 2-no more naps?! OMG I couldn't handle that for a 9 month old! lol Mine both napped until they were well past 3 years old!

Cindie-don't worry about being up...I am up a pound and I was PERFECT last week. I'm thinking the time I spent digging up,splitting and moving 60 feet of perennials increased my muscle mass more than decreased my fat loss. Sucks bigtime but hey...can't do anything about it.

And thank you for those of you who wished me congrats about my wedding in Cuba! Hate to tell you but that was over 10 years ago....

Leaves are really turning colours. Got up to 29C with the humidex (yeah here...in Nova Scotia!) so again the kids were wearing shorts.
  • Maddie - it was humid here today too. I think also about 29C with the humidex. Rained off and on most of the day. The sun came out a couple of times but if you blinked you missed it and it rained again.

Luckily it wasn't too busy at work so I only had to go out in the rain once and it was just easing up so I barely got wet. Not that I care if I get wet but it really messes with the hair! LOL. And I just got that done again this past saturday so the roots are gone and red rejuvenated and some blond highlights added in for a change.

Still hoping to stay the same for this week. D-day so to speak is tomorrow, well tomorrow evening. But good or bad I'll post the result and update the ticker after I get home. No one to blame but me this week. I messed up.

Jojo - TOPS is short for Take Off Pounds Sensibly. Its a support group - weigh in etc that meets each week. They don't advocate a particular "diet" except maybe canada's food guide. You can do whatever you want plan wise. I like it for the accountability of the weigh in and it's cheap! Only a small amount to join which includes a magazine for the year and $2 a week here. They have contests, incentives etc that help too. For me it's also a night out as I am by myself so it's nice to be able to get out of the house one night a week for a couple of hours and be around friends. I used to be a TOPS leader in NS when I lived there but had to stop going up here in NB due to a job conflict with time. But just re-joined and I am really glad I did.

Guess thats it for me for tonight. I'll check in later!

    Alannah
  • Thanks for the information, Alannah! I never heard of TOPS before. I'm enjoying WW immensely.

Today wasn't a very good day, because I've had super bad heartburn/indigestion for the last four days. I may go to the doctor if it is not gone by tomorrow. It is so annoying that I didn't eat too much today, and just feel disgusting.

It seems like this groups is from all over Canada from north to south, and east to west! How cool is that! Have a great day everyone!
  • Good Morning!

Well never got my walk in yesterday as it just poured(really hard) all day.I did get my walk in this am started to rain when I was almost home.Well I don't know if TOM has anything to do with the scale saying I gained but showed up this am..

JoJo~Hope it goes away and you feel better.

    Alannah~Good luck hope it's good!

    Maddie~Lol

Christine~Hope you get some excersise in today.Yup much cheaper then La salle
  • Maddie - Sorry to hear about your dad too I'm hoping the reason I haven't lost more on the scale is because of increased muscle mass too. I now have definable muscles in my arms and legs which I've never had before.

Stella - I meant to congratulate you on your wedding! I'm glad to hear it went well

Donna - Was going to ask if you've ever been tested for Multiple Sclerosis? I don't mean to scare you but a friend of mine had numb hands and arms (along with other symptoms) but that's what it ended up being for her.

I'm trying to get back to my 10k training.. I've been having a hard time lately because of a lot going on. I WILL be running tonight... only question is will it be on the treadmill in the basement or with the younger dog outside? He needs to exercise too but I always feel bad leaving the old one at home. There is NO way the old one can come with us... she can barely walk the route anymore, there is no way she could run it.
  • Hay Canadian Ladies; I thought I'd come and check in again. I always mean to stick with it and then realize it's been six months since I've been on the site.
AuntyJam and Cinm - What kind of pups am I lookin at on your pics? Super cute! AuntyJam - the pup in the back looks just like my Lola. We have two blue heeler/collie mixes. Love them.
Jojo - I hope your heartburn clears. Totally annoying, I know. hugs.
Weather on the prairie is LOVELY today. I will go and embrace the last vestiges of warmth this afternoon. Everyone have a great day!
  • GE&H - The puppy in the back is a border collie cross named Chase and the one is the front is a siberian husky cross named Kelly. I seriously love my puppies.

JoJo - I missed your heartburn problem the first time around, I hope you went to see a doctor. I couldn't imagine living with it for 4 days, I hate living with it for one night!
  • Hi everyone!

Down three pounds since my wedding/honeymoon. Not really following plan like I was before, but not eating horrible either. I keep waiting for that mental switch to kick on that says, "yep, you can do it",... it will happen.

Weather here is off and on rainy and it has cooled down quite a bit.

I was actually thinking of buying a few new sweaters for spring and fall for work and whatnot as my one's from last year are a little loose, but i'm not complaining!
  • Well - my icky week caught up with me. Up 1 tonight at weigh in. No one to blame but myself. No one to fix it but me too.

Humidity here the last couple of days is awful again. Just icky overnight last night and today. Feels a bit better tonight but still not great. I love it when it cools down at night and I can curl up under the blankets. I sleep so much better when it's cool.

Plan this week...water, water, water...did I mention water? Oh and weigh and measure. The eyes I believe have just gotten a bit bigger recently and I am overestimating things again. Time for a reality check.

    Alannah
  • Thanks ladies! The heartburn/indigestion is not as bad today, but I never went to the doctor yet. I was thinking if it doesn't go away by tomorrow I'll go to the doctor (I hate doctors). Even though, I've felt gross, I have still managed to stay on plan. I ate 2 less points then I should have yesterday, but I made up for it today. It better be gone by tomorrow!

Alannah, I hope you feel better soon. At least with adding a pound, you know why you did, and you sound determined to get back on track. What type of things are you overestimating?

    Welcome back, greeneggsandtam!

AuntyJam, Siberian huskies are such gorgeous dogs! Training for a 10k is awesome! I'm thinking of getting back into running to work up to 5k that I was training for 8 months ago. I was supposed to do a race in Dubai when I was living there, and I ended up getting deathly sick that weekend and couldn't run. Then I stopped running completely over time. It'll take a bit to get back into it. I hate the fact that I have to start over again.

Snowbound, I hope you are feeling better! I don't even have kids and I have a hard time planning. I never planned to cook for myself, because I was so busy working and travelling. I just ate as I went, and ate out a lot. Planning and eating in is a challenge for me. Good luck!
  • Alannah - I'm with you on the water wagon! I know when I'm making good choices that I'm cognizant of the water I have in a day. Although I always seem to have a battle of the water vs. coffee.
Jojo - I'm watching this thread today...have you gone to see a doctor or has the heartburn gone away? I hope so! Nuthin worse.
I'm on my way into town today as I have an appointment with my thesis advisor, and can't decide between land fitness or lane swimming. Hm. Anyways here's to a lovely fall day and some good choices.
  • Hello all! I'm back from my little getaway with my hubby and am waiting till tomorrow to get on the scale. LOL I must say I don't think I ate too badly but just differently than at home so we'll have to see. we did a lot of shopping, (so a lot of walking) and I'm hoping that it balances out. I do know I feel really FAT right now. Ugh!

Also a big HELLO to all the new ones here, I'm also pretty new and am still learning lots about this site.
