New day, new attitude?? I hope so....
Did some baking over the weekend. Cabbage rolls, pumpkin squares with cream cheese icing..grilled steak, taters and veggies out over charcoal, yum, talked with Shad on-line FB, she was going to come over and join me, I left the light on and the door unlocked for her...wink. Visited with dad yesterday, he seemed in pretty good spirits. Took him some cabbage rolls, pumpkin squares and PB cookies I made the other night with extra crunchy PB. He was in heaven. Making him call his doc today as both his feet/ankles are the size of softballs. Always something. Laura...sounds like the book club is more of a pitch in picnic. Maybe suggest bringing healthy food next time to all. or maybe even a themed pitchin..mexican, salads or something of that sort. MELLIE...glad you had an uneventful weekend. Mark it down in the books and refer to it later when things get hectic. Here another year has gone by and I am still complaining about those nasty pounds. I am with you on the challenge. Could be skinny by now. Too much time wasted. shame on me. Shad..thanks for the chat the other night. Not too much longer til Chris will be here. What fun and a change in pace,. Ceejay...hope you are feeling better since last nights bouts. Hello to Happy and Chelle..I know Chelle is having a great time, found some rocks and DH fell in the creek. lol High today 68 sunny with rain moving in this evening....CVS tonight. We have some of our Christmas stuff out already, just down the aisle from Halloween and Thanksgiving in the fall aisle. yikes. Have a good Monday all. Love and hugs |
Crazy busy (and bad) day today. Vacation was great! Found lots of rocks! One of them even has a huge tourmaline crystal in it. :)
My back survived all the digging and bending, but I came home with a bad cold and took some Nyquil last night. This morning, it was chilly on the ride into work, so I had the heat on. Big mistake. I fell asleep at the wheel on a deserted road just around the corner from my office, and hit the sidewalk HARD. I slashed a tire...so now I have to get someone to come out and put on my spare and take it to the tire shop. Oh well, at least I'm okay. I haven't had a chance to read what y'all are up too...but I'll do that later. Love and hugs to all, Michelle |
OMG Chellle....I am so glad you are ok. That could of been so much worse. Take it easy on the way home. Take deep breathes and hold it in, then let it out. That will help you stay awake as it gets oxygen to your brain and wakes you up when driving. hugs dear sister.

I just got off with my bank long distance. He assured me that although this case is complicated that he could sort it out via phone and he did!!He said it was because of the two names, the one closed account, one new account and an empty savings accout that were the biggest problems. Once I told my story he said it was very clear. Then I held on while he got the levy dept to authorize (for the 3rd time) to give the funds back. Now a check is being printed and should be here soon....along with checks for my new account and he closed out my savings. WHAT A GUY!!! It seems the local kid did nothing right. sigh. poor kid and I gave him a chance too. I will know better next time!!! So ladies....that is the end of my drama for 2010!! Thought you gals should be the first to know. |
ANNIE....HOW SWEET TO MAKE DAD SO HAPPY. HOPE THE FEET AND ANKLES ARE OK. THANK GOD HE HAS YOIU WATCHING OVER HIM. IF SHAD DOESN'T SHOW UP...I'LL BE RIGHT THERE :scooter: WE'LL ALL GET SKINNY TOGETHER...BUT AFTER WE HAVE THE TREATS...OK???
MICHELLE....OMG SHELLEY!!!!!!!!!! :yikes: I AM JUST GLAD TO READ THAT YOU'RE OK!! LORD SAVE US!! I HOPE YOUR POOR BODY DOESN'T FIND ANY NEW ACHES & PAINS LATER ON. STAY WELL AND PLEASE TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF. DON'T BE SCARING ME!! I'M AN FOOKING OLD LADY!! :tantrum: BUT I AM GLAD YOU FOUND ROCKS THOUGH AND HAD A GOOD TIME BEFORE YOU TRIED TO SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF ME JUST NOW!! |
Well H*ll Mellie...what a great ending to your fairy tale. See, good things DO come to those who wait..and wait...and wait... lol

Trying to catch up on reading but will be back later to comment.

Morning all,
Busy day yesterday and for some reason I didn't get in here. Came to work for a nine o'clock start, got my entry cards back and then set up my computer again. 11.00am meeting got cancelled (now 9.00am this morning)and at 1.15pm I had my bi-annual boob squish - after which things were somewhat painful so lots of things went out of my head. They have some new machines down there now. The first part where the boob is squashed flat in front of your eyes is not so bad, but oh my word, that side on one surely bring tears to your eyes. Sometimes I wish I didn't have any - actually often I wish I didn't have any. Maybe if I lose some weight, I won't have so much. Anyway, first day back was much as expected! What am I doing here. Michelle - You poor thing. I bet you have done some damage to the steering as well. You will have to stop burning the candle at both ends friend. The tourmaline sounds nice. Is it green or pink? Annie - good to talk to you over the weekend. Yum the baking sounds really nice. Unfortunately I don't think I will make it over there before it is all gone. Mel - good stuff, if the guy has done the job properly. We wait for the mail. Don't you lot use interbanking facilities. Everything seems to be done by cheque! Laura - how's the exercise going? I walked yesterday but didn't get back to the gym as I was supposed to. Only a couple of days before Chris arrives now. Haven't worked out what we might do. Depends on how good she feels. There is a photographic exhibition on in town, as well as a Valentino exhibition ( classice Valentino clothing stuff - very expensive stuff) Might be nice just to see how the other half live. The Roma Street Parklands might be nice as well, but we will see what happens. And with that I have to go for a walk for a meeting. Why the whole lot can't be in one building I have yet to work out. I guess the exercise is good for me. See ya |
Hey all.
Shad - Yeh, it's nice to have built-in exercise - and get paid for it. The clothing exhibit sounds nice. My exercise lately is not much - no formal exercise this weekend, and today was the day from ****. I'm pretty wiped out, so I took doggy for a walk and that'll be it I think. I'm trying to get Coal to walk nice on the short leash, and that's a workout in itself. Heel, heel, HEEL. Correction. Sigh. Mel - Yay - sounds like progress! But let's wait for the checks to arrive, lol. Just kidding, not trying to be a Debbie Downer... Re my pumpkin loaves - I asked bf if it would be better w/ nuts and he answered "Isn't it always?" :D I was sorting a bunch of recipes and, yup, I do have recipes for muffins - and cookies, and pies, and cakes, and other desserts...and that's just the sweets. Still have to sort my recipes for the savories. Michelle - Scary!!! I'm so glad the road was deserted. Hope you don't have any ill effects from that jolt. That nyquil - I've woken up groggy from it too. With your early hours, I can definitely see that grogginess being intensified. You need to drive w/ the windows open girl!! Yay for the geode! I believe my mother's has an amethyst crystal in it. Ceejay - Hope the antibiotics are doing their job. Sorry you're suffering the intestinal aftereffects though. Annie - Yum, the food sounds tasty. Espec. the PB cookies. Hope the doc gets your dad's knees and ankles back to normal. Not surprising about the Christmas stuff being out already... hope all those talking/musical decorations don't drive you batty - it's too early for that, lol. Or is it too late, LOL. Day from **** today with this file project. And no offer of help from the new half of our group who needed the file space. AND this afternoon they had the nerve to ask our admin for help packing their files for the move. The boss had her draft a nicey-nicey "no can do" e-mail, so there! Now that we're finishing up, I suppose it was a worthwhile project, and we've even emptied more file drawers than they needed, so we have some freed up space for ourselves. I'm going to be moving a lot of my older desk files into one of the drawers, and then I'll regularly rotate the old out and the more recent in. It'll be nice to get some open space in my cube. I'm tired and haven't eaten yet, so I'll get this posted and get some dinner in me. G'night all. |
Forgot to mention - DS2 put the furniture together for me yesterday. Made a good job of it too. Now I am filling it with cr*p. Better keep a shelf or two for some of his cr*p I guess.
It's now piddling down and we have thunder, lightning and I can no longer see the city from my office because of rain and low cloud. Nice! Just about the right time for me to go home. |
Morning all ya'll.....woke with a splitting headache, suppose I should taike something for it before I go completely postal on this place. May have to break out the Excedrine Migraine pills. Probably a good poo would help too!
Dad called Samantha to his house yesterday and signed over the title to his car to her. He is not going to drive and she has not had a car in 4 years. Now granted the car is 17 years old but only has 37000 miles on it. He just up and GAVE it to her. Guess cause my kids always help out where the other grandkids are scarce. Anyway she has to title it, plate and insure it before he gives it completely to her. God sees favor! Shad...sounds like fun to go look at the expensive clothing. I bet they have shoes too!! lol I did get my kitchen mopped and vacuum run. Didn't even start on the closet. That is going to take some major effort on my part. Hey Ceejay! Laura...yes, not only do they have all the talking/singing decorations, but also the ones for Halloween and Thanksgiving, not to mention we still have the singing fishes left over too. Maybe that is why the headache from last night at CVS. lol Mellie...what kind of trouble you got us into today? Firemen, cops, EMTs, just what is it? lol Chelle...how are you today after yesterday's mishap? The car? How is ole Dop? Happy....how are your body parts? lol I have an interview for this position at 3:30. I don't know if they are sincere or it is a courtesy interview...if so, spare me. Have a great Tuesday everyone.. Love and Hugs |
:rain: I AM ACTUALLY LOVING THIS DARKER & RAINY WEATHER. THE BUILDING IS SO QUIET YOU CAN HEAR A PIN DROP. EVEN THE OFFICE IS QUIET WITH THE BOSS AT A CONFERENCE. NO WORK FOR THIS CHICK:beach: JEN AND I SPENT PART OF THE DAY GETTING PAPER WORK READY TO COPY AND MAIL FOR YET ANOTHER GOVT AGENCY. A YEAR WENT BY ALREADY?:faint: GUESS TIME FLIES WHEN YOU'RE HAVING THIS MUCH FUN! SHE HAS TAKEN TO RUNNING DOWNSTAIRS TO CHECK THE MAILBOX EVERY FEW HOURS  LIKE YOU GALS...WE WON'T BELIEVE IT TILL WE ACTUALLY SEE THE CHECK IN THERE!!
NOTHING EXCITING PLANNED FOR TODAY. I AM NOT READY TO TEST ALL OF LAST WEEKS BOO BOOS YET TILL I AM SURE THEY'RE HEALED. EXERCISING VERY LIGHTLY SO I CAN GET BACK WHERE I WAS WITHOUT PAIN. HAVE A GREAT DAY. HAPPY TUESDAY/ WEDNESDAY :moped: ANNIE...THANKS AND I DID ASK AND I WAS PATIENT AND I DID RECEIVE  CEEJAY...DID YOU GET CAUGHT UP YET??? WE MISS YOU:rofl: LAURA....I'M AVAILABLE FOR ANY TASTE TESTING YOU NEED DONE....LET ME REMIND YOU THAT WE HAVE A LOT OF "NUTS" OVER HERE TOO! OR WAS THE BF REFERRING TO HIS ANATOMY? :lol3: :lol3: SORRY...EARLY MORNING HUMOR!  COULDN'T RESIST. ROFLMAO SHAD...GLAD TO HEAR THE FURNITURE IS UP AND RUNNING...SO TO SPEAK. DID HE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS OR JUST "DO IT" AS MEN USUALLY DO. I HAVE LOTS OF CRAP STILL THAT YOU GUYS CAN HAVE. THE REASON FOR A CHECK IS BECAUSE WE HAD NO ACCOUNT LEFT IN JEN'S NAME AND THEY COULDN'T REACH US BY PHONE...THE PC IS ON ALL DAY! I WAS CALLING ONE DEPT AND ANOTHER WAS TRYING TO REACH US. CROSS PURPOSES I GUESS. |
ANNIE YOU SNEEKER INNER YOU!!
I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOUR DD!!! YAY!!! HOW GREAT FOR HER. WHO CARES HOW OLD THE CAR WUITH GREAT LOW MILEAGE ON IT! SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE HEADACHE  GOD I HATE THEM TOO...SENDING A HUG AND LOOKING AROUND FOR SOME PILLS TO SEND TOO :dizzy: |
Good morning ladies,
We are back safe and sound. We had a great time but the drive itself was awful and there was some goofyness about DH maybe getting a temp job that complicated everything (he didn't get it in the end). Will tell you later. I don't have time to catch up or talk right now. Just wanted to say hi and check in. Will catch up at lunch time if I can. |
Happy...glad you made it back safely. Like I told Mellie...now to your DH...Good things come to those who wait.
Mellie...we will have to remember to have a pharmacy at our "commune". With a hot pharmacist...eye candy for ya. lol |
Morning every one
I'm loving this fall weather. I got caught up from the week end, but lately my day's don't have enough hours in them. I don't like it when the day's start out dark and end in the dark at 7 p.m. I'm feeling a lot better. I want to go to bed before 10 tonight. I didn't have to run the ceiling fan last and and slept like a baby. Happy Glad you are at home safe and sound. DH will find a job soon, don't give up hope. Annie Good luck with the interview. How nice that your dad gave you dd the car. Mel I'm ready for some of that quietness. This week end is mine with out anything planned. |
Good morning all.
Shad - Since DS was successful, he can put together "assembly required" furniture as a side job. A lot of people have problems with that, not being fluent in Chinese, Swedish or having the ability to decipher the diagrams. Annie - How nice for dd to have a car again. Who cares about the age - as long as it runs well and is in good repair. Hope you've banished the headache. Don't go postal before your interview - it might ruin your chances, lol. You might be going in to a courtesy interview (hope it's for real though), but you could change their minds!! Mel - Rainy weather is a good excuse to stay indoors and under the covers. Enjoy!! Happy - Welcome back!! Hellos to Michelle & Ceejay. Not much to report. Less cranky than yesterday. I have my gym gear with me and a pbj sandwich for lunch, but I was sort of looking forward to getting outdoors at lunch... Maybe I'll take a shorter lunch, and then leave a bit earlier this afternoon to go to the fc for a workout. Tonight's movie is Easy A, a fluffy teenager movie. Should be amusing - hopefully they didn't already show all the funny parts in the previews. |
Annie - didn't think anyone did courtesy interviews any more. Therefore in my book you are in with a chance. Get in there, give it your best shot and leave them smiling. You can do this.
How nice for the DD getting granddads car. I'm sure she will treasure the gift. However you better start warning her about the trouble and the costs they can cause. Ceejay - glad to hear you are feeling better Laura - like some people, DS2 seems to be able to 'see' where things go. I had laid out the furniture in the order it went, but apparently I had some bits upside down and back to front, c'est la vie. He takes his time and thinks about it and for once he decided to use the spirit level instead of trying to level it by eye. Things sit nicely on it. Actually I have a friend who set up a business doing furniture assembly. He did quite well for a while, then it all went downhill. Now he only does it on the side as you say. Apparently, furniture is getting bigger and houses are getting smaller and most bits don't like to fit around those spiral staircases which seem to be very popular just now. Happy - good to see you back all in one piece. Seems DH is getting closer to getting a job. It's that all important first job that either makes or breaks you in the contract world. Once that initial job is successful, more work just keeps coming (sometimes eventually). Mel - hope that cheque comes today. It would be nice to have all the money back in the house (so to speak). Thanks for the offer, but I have enough crap of my own. I don't need yours. I have two packing boxes of stuff that I no longer want and am trying to think what to do with it. Some will go to the bin, but I'm sure that there is a use for the other stuff. Just not at my place. Don't see Michelle in yet. Hope she is okay and not in pain or tears or anything. Well today is my last day for a week. Chris arrives tomorrow morning and I don't get back here until next Wednesday. Yeehaa. Hope the weather clears up somewhat and we can get around without drowning. Yesterdays storm gave us around 4 inches of rain which caused a few problems in the usual trouble spots. And as I left the building and put up the umbrella, it broke a couple of spokes and the whole thing collapsed around my head. It must have looked hilarious from the outside. Now I will have to go buy a new one and since the wet season appears to have begun, no doubt the prices will go up as well. There is a whole load of sirens going off outside the building. Cops and Ambulance just raced off down the wrong side of the road - guess there has been an accident somewhere. There is plenty of traffic buildup out there too. No doubt we will see the police boat shortly if the traffic gets any worse. So I suppose I had better go surf the 'net for a bit and then get into some work. I'm supposed to be building a training plan. I've found an old template and will use that - however since not much information filters down to this level, I will have to make up a lot of the information. After this I might go into dentistry, pulling teeth would be easier than pulling in information from this lot. See ya |
GOOD MORNING CHICKS :coffee:
YESTERDAY WAS ALL GOOD. NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. THE BOSS IS BACK TODAY AND I AM STAYING UPSTAIRS. STARTED SHREDDING LAST YEARS JUNK FROM THE FILE DRAWER. FINISH THAT TODAY. SO THAT'S THE ONLY PLAN I HAVE. LIFE IS BORING RIGHT NOW...AND I LIKE BORING! :beach: HAVE A GREAT DAY :moped: :welcome: HOME HAPPY!!! SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE RIDE AND THE JOB. IT WAS GOOD TO SEE YOU THIS MORNING! ANNIE...A HOT PHARMACIST?? JUST CALL ME MISS JUNKIE!  CEEJAY....GOOD TO HEAR YOU SLEPT SO WELL AND HAVE A WEEKEND ALL TO YOURSELF  I LOVE THIS WEATHER TOO! LAURA...SO THE CRANKIES ARE GONE?? I DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAD THEM!! MAYBE WE CAN BOTH HAVE OUR PB&J SAMMIES OUTSIDE!! HOPE THE MOVIE IS A GOOD ONE. I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY CLIPS. SHAD...BETWEEN THE UMBRELLAND TRYING TO GET INFOR FROM THIS COMPANY, YOUR LIVE IS NEVER DULL!! COPS AND SIRENS??? I SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE GIVING ORDERS AND ORGANIZING THEM!! I CAN DIRECT TRAFFIC I'M SURE:rofl: HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME WITH CHRIS. I DO HOPE FOR GOOD WEATHER FOR YOU TWO. IT SHOULD ALL BE GREAT FUN. PS: NO CHECK IN MY SWEATY LITTLE HANDS AS OF TODAY! I DON'T THINK JEN WILL RELAX UNTIL IT GETS HERE. |
Good morning chicks,
Mornings are getting colder and darker - fall must be coming. Even the cat doesn't want to stay out all night anymore. Mel - you go enjoy your boring day. Never heard anyone say they liked boring but hey, it beats nutty chaos and in a building full of seniors quiet is good  I'm so glad that someone untangled the financial mess for you and you and Jen are getting your money back. Cash those checks and hide it missy! Shad - I got a good laugh from your dentistry remark. All too true in regards to getting info out of some people. DH's job miss was a total screw up on their part. I need more time than I have to tell the story but will do so soon. I hope you have a most wonderful time with Chris. Hopefully she is feeling well enough to do some travelling and the dynamic duo can hit the road again and stir up some dust. We will hold the place down while you are gone. Take nice pictures :D Stash said you sound like the very kind of personality he would enjoy being around and he hopes to meet you one day. Annie - how wonderful for DD to get a car! See, some goodness has come back to you for taking care of Dad. I hope things work out well for you on the job front. It's getting very depressing. Ready to live like a mountain man myself. You sure made a kitchen full of food yesterday. Save me some of that meatloaf. I'll pass on the cabbage soup - they are very fond of serving cabbage at work. All the time. pfffffffffffftttttttt. OMG Michelle - I'm so glad that you were ok! What a scare. That Nyquil sure does put one to sleep. I find that after I stop taking it I have trouble getting to sleep on my own for a few days afterwards. Hope the tire damage isn't too costly. Laura - ummm pumpkin bread. It's that time of year for all the yummy pumpkin stuff. Same some for Shad - she is really fond of the stuff but she doesn't call it pumpkin. Right Shad? Glad you're feeling better Ceejay. I waved to you on the way up and back. We even stopped for gas in your town but I didn't see you around  Just realized it's trash day and though we don't have much in the way of garbage we do have some recycling that needs to go in the bin. Talk to you later... |
/well fookity I lost my post...too p*ssed to do it again
|
I have it pretty easy this morning at work. We are draining one of the elevated tanks (water towers) for inspection and cleaning. It takes time to use 500,000 gallons of water on a cool day.
It's a perfect fall day. Wish I were outside but I do have one of the door's open. The fresh air does me good. Back later to comment. |
Michelle - hope you are ok - just busy at work?
Annie - hate losing the posts. :rollpin: computer! Half a million gallons of water Ceejay? That's alot of watta  |
Good afternoon everyone.
Shad - Enjoy your time with Chris. I hope the weather cooperates for you two. LOL about your comment re dentistry, and the umbrella incident!! Mel - Boring can be good! I ended up eating my pb&j at my desk and not really taking a proper lunch, but it was tasty. The movie Easy A was entertaining. The lead actress Emma Stone, is cute and she has a very nice speaking voice. Happy - Yeh, dark mornings and early evenings. Summer's over. Hope we have a nice autumn. Annie - I hate when that happens!! Ceejay - I wish I were outside too!! I just love the fresh air after being inside all day, especially the air in this building. It's really stuffy morning and late afternoon and generally stuffy all day too. I'm sick of it, and sick of complaining about it. Michelle - Hope you're feeling better and your day is going alright. Hey, how's Doppler doing? I never went to the fc yesterday, so I went today and got my 30 minutes in on the elliptical. All the moves on our floor are done I think. The admin and I now have people in cubes on both sides of us. The admin's cube is not as private on one side because of its configuration, but we were told that it would cost about $3,000 to change. Unbelievable - these are nice cubicles, but I can't believe it costs that much to change something that's akin to legos. Whatever. And the person in the cube adjoining the admin's is across the aisle and kitty corner to me (or do you say "catty"?) and because of the cube configuration, it feels like I have less privacy too because it seems like he can see right into my cube. Maybe I'm wrong. Of course anything except an empty cube equates to less privacy, lol. Oh well. It would be nice to be able to move my computer to a different part of my work surface, but who knows how much it would cost to get someone in here to re-install my keyboard tray elsewhere? Sigh. Okay, I'm done whining about that. Nothing planned tonight, so it'll be a dog walk and possibly a BE workout. I miss those - it feels like weeks since I've done one! We'll see how long it's been when I check my workout log in the basement. TTFN! |
Annie
Hang in there girlfriend. Things will get better. Happy Yep half a million gallons of water used in a half a day's time. That's only a drop in the bucket so to speak when we are used to pumping and treating 1.5 to 1.8 million per day. Michelle I hope you haven't fallen asleep at the wheel again. Are you busy at work? Annie Hang in there, Things will get better. Laura Our building was stuffy this morning. That' was why I had the doors open. We don't have cubicle's here, just a big open space. I love it. I bet with some thinking you could rearrange your cubicle. I do have my own computer that only the bosses and I can use. Watched National Body challenge and The Biggest Loser last night and went to bed. While watching the BL I rode the bike for 4 miles. I'm outta shape. I used to could ride for 8 miles. I'll build back my stamina. |
Morning all,
Today is the day that Chris arrives, yeehaa. I think I am just about ready. Also the second part of the new furniture arrived yesterday so DS2 will be putting it together for me and no doubt making a mess of the place again. I've made it a challenge to unpack at least one box a day and make a decision about to keep or to ditch. I think Chris and I may have to do a dump run sometime this weekend. Cardboard and boxes all over the verandah. Annie - too bad about the post. I hate it when that happens. Ceejay - Good for you getting in the exercise while watching tv. The seats on those bikes make me want to stand up for the entire performance or at least get off as fast as possible. Happy - how weird spending part of your vacation talking about me. One day we will meet up in the woods. Hey what - aren't I normally in the woods beating about the bushes??? Contracting can be the worst or the best thing and the darn recruiters are not always sure what their client is actually looking for either. Interviews are strange animals. Laura - Good for you getting the exercise in. I know what you mean about people, cubicles and privacy in the work place. I'm pretty lucky where I am at the moment but I am not expecting it to last. They are already talking about another move. Mel - The US Post always gets through??? Don't give it too much time before you start ringing the bloke again and banging the drum. Boring is fine. I can take boring once in a while. Michelle - hello are you out there. Haven't seen her on facebook either. Hope you are okay. Right well I had better go get on with it. Lots to do, people to annoy, laundry to hang out (then it rains) bring in, (then the sun comes out) take out, (then it rains) bring it in - you get the picture. |
Hi ladies -
What started out as a bad sore throat and sinuses while on vacay last weekend, turned into full blown bronchitis. I was only at work for a couple hours on Monday before I went home ill. I went to the doc on Tuesday and he put me on two different antibiotics and Prednisone....more steroids. Ugh. He told me to postpone my spine injection until next Friday to get this chest infection a chance to clear out. Anyway, I'm finding it easier to breathe now that the antibiotics and prednisone removed the elephant that was sitting on my chest (now it's more like a wombat or koala on my chest). Sorry I didn't even check in...the thought of just getting on a 'puter sounded way too strenuous. As you can imagine, I'm crazy busy today after missing two days last week due to vacay, and three days this week due to illness. So I'd better get to it straight away. I'lll go back and read what you've all been up to as soon as I can. Lots of love and hugs, |
Wake up sleepy heads, time to go to work.
Shad Enjoy your visit with Chris. I'm going to make an early morning trip to super Walmart in Blytheville this morning for groceries. Trying to think of some quick simple menu's. I'm jumping back on the wagon in October by doing the basics. I've learned that I'm going to have to stay between 1200 and 1400 to lose any weight and keep it off. It will have to be a low stress approach to get my heart as healthy as I can. Rode the bike for 4.2 miles again last night to burn 200 calories. |
Michelle
Glad to hear that you are feeling better. We get concerned when you are missing. |

Howdy peeps,
Last day of September. We need a new theme for October. I vote "Get me the :censored: out of Memphis!!!!!!!!! :tantrum: Being away for a week and away from all the frustrations reminded me again how much I hate being here. I have charged DH with getting us an end date here - and not in a pine box either. I sometimes fear I will not make it out of this wretched place alive. :dunno: Mel - sometimes I think living in your building is no different than sitting at the corner of Times Square  Always noise and running and some kind of commotion. :yikes: I certainly hope you don't get any tornadoes up your way. Guess you're getting doused with leftovers from the hurricanes petering out. Send us some rain, we could sure use it. Nothing so impressive with the Super Walmarts - just a giant grocery store with clothing attached  Now set me down in a Mejier's and I'm in heaven. Driving up to Wisconsin we passed by the one in Rolling Meadows off of I-90 and I pressed my face to the window with a great longing :( it was my favorite place to shop. I think you and I would have a great time there Mel - I'd buy lots of stuff and Annie would cook it for us. Just have to leave out all the speecy spicy stuff that would make our tummies  and  and :yikes:  Office furniture is crazy priced. I think the ratty desk chairs are something like $900 each which shows you why they don't replace them until the backs, arms AND wheels fall off. If you want to gross yourself out, smack the upholstered chair really hard and hold your breath while all the dust eeks out. Ceejay - when it comes to healthy meals your best bet is a single serving of lean protein - grilled fish, pork or chicken, a hot steamed vegetable (broccolli, green beans, califlower, etc) and a cold crunchy vegetable or salad. Or you can make a nice big pot of vegetable soup and save single servings in zip-loc containers in the freezer to substitute for one of the vegetable servings. I HATE counting calories - WW points are bad enough but calories are hard so good luck with that. I do agree with you - the most consistent weight loss comes from calorie tracking. I need to start making some changes to de-junk the house and cut the spending if we ever want to get out of here. I am going to make a vow to either get back using WW online tracking or cancel the service. $15 a month is not alot but if you're not using it at all. :nono: Right now the cupboards are quite bare - am trying to put together meals from what's in the cabinets but I have no fresh accompanyments (ie bread, fresh veggies, etc) so our meals are not too diet friendly. I do have some Wisconsin fudge though. Michelle - am glad you are back with us but so sorry to hear you got bronchitis again. That's really nasty. Do whatever you can to keep it at bay so it doesn't come back for round 2 (and 3). I realize you have to go to work but make sure you go to bed a little early and get extra rest. This is a rough time of season with all the mold and spores in the air. And I'm sooooo sorry that the Bears beat the Packers on Monday - ... well no actually. I'm not really sorry. And I did cheer a lot  :lol3: My only problem with moving to Wisconsin would be having to listen to those Packer Backers :snooty: :headache: :snooty: Shad - I hope Chris arrived safe and sound and that the two of your troublemakers are off tearing up the town and having a good time ;)  Laura - I say kitty-corner though most of the world says catty I think. Must be a regional thing. And after I moved the last time I spend a fair amount of time trying to figure out the most strategic way I could get the most privacy in a cube. I figured out it's when I have my back to the opening with my Ipod on and blasting away and I get so self absorbed I think no one can see me. Just like putting a cat in a box - they think they are hidden and protected but in reality, anyone who wants to have a peek in can see you quite fine. There is no privacy in cubes. :( It's part of the overall degredation of society I think  I am running an afternoon meeting and one of the attendees is conferencing in over the phone from India. Under the best of circumstances I cannot understand him at all. I wish you could do closed captioning on the phone  I'd better go review all the test plans before the review. Have a good one everybody. |
Morning all,
Yes Chris did arrive safely and we have yakked and giggled yesterday away. Today, we are off to see the Valentino collection, walk around Southbank Parklands in the afternoon and go to the Friday night markets tonight before having dinner somewhere. We will probably drive into one of the inner city suburbs and park the car there and take the city cat to Southbank. Otherwise it will cost a fortune in parking fees. Yesterday I parked the car at the airport for around 30 mins and it cost me $13.00 Ouch. Mel - more alarms than you know what to do with out your way. Yes steam will set them off but it is bizarre. But if we didn't have them, well who knows. Ceejay - simple meals mean less cooking, less ingredients, less stress as well as a reduction in calories. Go for it. Michelle - goot to have you back. Not nice having bronchitis but at least it was further spinal damage through whiplash or something equally disasterous. Happy - get me out of Memphis sounds interesting but I don't know that it has much to do with weight problems - or maybe it does considering the deep fried pickles and green beans and aigs. Good luck with the Indian accent. I find them hard enough straight up. Over the phone is much worse. Okay - gotta go. It may be early yet and the rest of my world is still asleep, there are things to do and see before we go out to paint the town red. I see the puss cat is stalking something unseen out there. That tail is a dead giveaway. I think she learned the wagging bit from the dogs we used to have. Nice to know she did learn something, sometime, somehow. |
Hi everyone!
Ceejay - Yay for getting the exercise. I like meals that are simple, like what Happy said - a protein, a veggie, and a 2nd side dish. Unfortunately, the 2nd side dish is usually a starch (God forbid it should be a 2nd veggie, LOL). I've begun to skip that other side and eat a bigger portion of the veggie. Shad - Good challenge getting rid of stuff. Bf has quite the collection. I still have my paper challenges, but I feel like the things I keep are important or potentially important. Bf's boxes are just random accumulations of anything and everything. When a surface where he tends to collect these random bits is filled, it'll often end up in a box and then get stored away in the basement or a closet. We too have a collection of empty cardboard boxes that need to be broken down and recycled. We really don't need those boxes - we rarely ship out gifts anymore - mostly just gift cards. But you know how it can be - you don't want to be without one when you actually need one. Hope you're enjoying the Valentino exhibit. Michelle - I'm so sorry you've got bronchitis. :( I'm glad the drugs are working for you, and I hope you'll be feeling 100% by the weekend. I originally thought you might have fallen into a depression over the Packers' loss on Monday, LOL. That was an ugly game with all those penalties... Mel - I'd forgotten (or maybe never even known) that hight heat and humidity can also trigger a smoke alarm. Huh. Never a dull moment in your building. You're really getting the rain! Now what floor are you on? Just stick to the high ground!! :rain: Re pbj's on toast - what I enjoy is cinnamon-raisin bread toast spread with peanut butter, and every once in a while, topped w/ sliced banana. Yum. Happy - Sorry you're hating where you live. I don't have the history on this, so someday you'll have to tell me how long you've been in TN and how you ended up there. Oh, and I was thinking of you on the weekend when I was watching this goofy show called "On the Road with Santino and ..." (something like that) - a couple of gay guys whose mission is to sew a dream dress for some woman, always living somewhere very rural/small-town, whose life apparently is not living up to her potential. Anyway, on one of their trips, they stayed in yurts like I imagine you and dh stayed in last fall. Our Walmart now has a grocery area, but the selection isn't so great... but that Rolling Meadows Meijer's is quite the opposite - really great selection. But it's sheer size is just so off-putting, we rarely go there. Hi Annie!! How's it going?? Not much to report. Last night was just a dog walk, no BE workout. Tonight will be a BE workout for sure, and then I will get to the fc tomorrow. I think I'm getting accustomed to the new cube neighbors I have at work, but I'm still thinking of switching the position of my computer just because the boss sometimes comes up behind me and I don't hear her. Usually it's fine, except when it's like today when I was looking at one of my retirement accounts online and she came up. :o But I guess it ended alright, because we talked about converting a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA, LOL. She's a font of personal finance information, turns out. Oh, why does it have to feel like Friday?? Okay, it's already Friday somewhere in the world, ha ha. Good thing it's not here - I have some quarter-end work to do. Better get on with it. |
GOOD MORNING LADIES OF THE WORLD
NOTHING NEW HERE. RAIN AND MORE RAIN. ALMOST 3" YESTERDAY AND IT'S STILL POURING. :rain: I AM FEELING A BIT GROGGY WITH SINUS SO THIS IS SHORT. I COULD LOVE SOMEONE DOING OUR COOKING!! :hun: GREAT IDEA!! I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF MEJIERS STORES. BUT LOVE SHOPPING NO MATTER WHERE THEY ARE!! :lol3: SHAD...WHEN ONE OF MY CATS SAW A BIRD OUTSIDE YOU WOULD THINK THE TAIL TURNED INTO A WHIP!! THEY GET SO EXCITED! HAVE A GREAT DAY...THE PLANS SOUND WONDERFUL. ENJOY YOURSELVES. LAURA...OHHHHH I LOVE CINNAMON TOAST WITH RAISINS!! YUM. THOMAS' USED TO MAKE A DELICIOUS ONE. MY EX USED TO USE IT FOR FRENCH TOAST WITH CANADIAN MAPLE SYRUP THAT HIS AUNT WOULD BRING DOWN TO US OVER THE HOLIDAYS. GLAD THE BOSS HAD GOOD ADVICE AND NOT YELLING ABOUT USING THE PC. BUT IT WOULD BE NICE TO TURN THE THING AROUND!!! |
Happy Friday!
I'm working from home today...the boss said I could so HECK YEAH, don't have to tell me twice. I have tons to get caught up on...but at least I can do it wearing a t-shirt and sweats with my hair a mess. It's a darn chilly morning here, and it's supposed to get LOTS colder this weekend with frost tonight and tomorrow and some nasty ol' weatherman using the 4-letter "S" word that rhymes with "tow". Listen mister, just because it's October doesn't mean you can use that word, dang it! Unfortunately, I've now got to figure out why something isn't working in a report. I'll be back later. Love and hugs, |
Good morning girls,
Happy October. I don't have the time right now to set up a new thread - will get to it later. I could have used a little more sleep than I got or gotten up one less time. Really tired this morning. Better squeeze in a second cup of coffee. Yay for you for getting to work from home Michelle- I'm sure you will put in a long day. We have seen frost already but from up north in Wisconsin. Steam would rise off the water in the morning and the last day we were there it was 35 degrees in the morning. DH went to snap a shot of some nice trees and said the road was all covered in frost. It's a comin' Mel I saw a bit on the news about all the rain that is pounding the east coast. Stay warm and dry my friend - it's a driving pounding mess out there. :rain: I'm closing my eyes and dozing off here so I'd better get up and get my butt outta here. Sooner I go in, sooner I can leave. Catch up with you later... |
Morning
Happy Not sure if I'm read for those frosty morning's but the temperatures are to go in the mid 40's next week. Time to bring out the long sleeve's. Michelle Wish I had the option of working from home. Mel Think every one here is having sinus problems. I bought some otc Claritin yesterday and the shelves were almost bare. It's time to get dressed and get the garbage out to the curb. |
Oops....Worldlies Will Go OP for October
|
Morning ladies!
Mel - Get the inflatable raft ready!! Wow that's a lot of rain!! I like to watch Coal when he's stalking a squirrel. He doesn't wag - he's very still and deliberate - one paw moving forward at a time until the time when he makes his move, LOL. Michelle - Hope you have a productive work at home day. Happy - I've been feeling sleep-deprived all week. Think I'll have a 2nd mug o tea today, just because. Ceejay - Yeh, time for the warmer clothing. I want to buy a new fall jacket - maybe two. One for work, walking length - water and wind resistant. A friend at work bought a cute one at Lands End - maybe I can get it in another color. The other one would be a casual jacket, just long enough to cover my arse, lol. Hellos to Annie and Shad!! Nothing much to report. Last night I was pooped when I got home. Bf was out doing the grocery shopping, so I took doggy for a walk. No BE workout. Boo for me. I stayed up too late most days this week. Last night I made sure I got to bed earlier. No, I didn't bring my workout gear today. Shame on me. I wanted to go shopping at lunch today anyway. Tonight's a casual get together planned by some of the HS gals, and I'm going with two of my HS friends. Wonder what the turnout will be. Nothing else firmly planned for this weekend. Might use my massage gift cert. Need to get some exercise too!! Okay, back to the quarter-end work. Have a good weekend all. :) |
