Morning
Got a lot of talking going on this morning. Happy My sinuses have been bothering me also this past week. I've been thinking about going to urgent care Jonesboro this week end since my regular doctor is on vacation. I did rinse my sinuses out last night and it really helped, plus I've started taking Claritin again. I honestly think I need some antibotic's. Laura I'm with Mel about the bp. Could it be the job and or co-workers? My mom had bp problems which I've inherited. Are your feet still giving problems? Shad How did you doctor's visit go? Have you heard anything from your cousin? Mel Yes we did get some much needed rain yesterday. We had a big puff of wind that I thought was a semi going down the road. I can see a patch of yellow on the top of th tree's outside the water plant window. Michelle Hope Doppler does okay with the surgery. I'm not sure what a TENS is but hope it helps. Annie I've been thinking about playing the lottery. Infact, I'll buy some scratch off's this week end. |
Is all the sneaking in done now? Okay, I'll post now. :)
Shad – Hope you’re enjoying your time off. Beats sitting around at the office feeling guilty for doing nothing. Michelle’s right – when your month is almost up, they’ll have plenty of work for you. Mel – LOL, I was gonna mention posting signs too – but they’re already there. Time to change the signs – use different colored paper or something to make people take notice. Hate to think of the police responding to false alarms when they could be eating donuts, oops, I meant fighting real crime. ;) Michelle – Good luck to Doppler with his surgery. Hope his vision comes out at least "good enough" if not "good as new". Hope the TENS unit keeps your back happy - out w/ the pain! With the heavy winds around here yesterday, maybe your dh should head down here with the big chipper – we have all sorts of tree debris on the ground. Annie – Take it easy on the jalapenos! LOL about garbage day – happens to everyone. Have you bought that lottery ticket yet? I’m ready for life on the Worldy Commune. Happy – Thanks for the gym motivation. I did my thing yesterday - 30 min on the elliptical. Nice and quiet around 1:30. But can I ever go without forgetting something??!! Yesterday I didn’t transfer my lock to my new gym bag, and I also forgot my water bottle even though it was sitting ready to go right on my desk. No biggie, but still... Ceejay – Now there’s a thought – spring and fall only. But my custom seasons would include a bit of summer and winter. I’ll have to work up my specifications for that. Not much to report. Bit cool here today, and I didn't wear a jacket. The bike ride to the train was chilly! Felt good to wait for the train in the sun. Just noticed my vision is much better today now that I'm wearing a new right lens. Been complaining about it and even made an eye doc appt yesterday. I didn't want to buy new boxes of lenses if my rx has changed. Well that's good. But I still think I'll go to the eye dr. Okay, I have a meeting at 10:30 and need to prep for that. Have a good day everyone! |
Ceejay - Someone else suggested the elevated BP was bf and his mother, now you're saying it's my co-workers, LOL. Sounds like I need a nice solitary vacation. :) My feet are feeling good. The shot in the left one really helped. Hope it holds for a while - until I get some effective orthotics.
Sorry your sinuses are bugging you. 'Tis the season. My eyes have been bothering me - these windy days sure haven't helped. |
Ceejay...I have an off and on scratchy throat. I think it is from the sinuses draining and the blowing of the nose from eating jalapenos. They always make my nose run and have to blow several times after. Let's hope that is it.
Laura...you bet your sweet bippy I bought the lottery tickets. I bought two....one for Indiana lottery and one for Powerball. I am going to win cause I dreamed I won last night. It is sure to happen. I can feel it, I just know I am going to win. No doubts here. Get your bags packed for the Worldlie commune, or heck nevermind, we will purchase all new clothing or whatever we need. |
How Many Grapes In A Bottle Of Wine? Even though I struggle with mathematical concepts higher than long division, it sometimes amazes me to think about what it takes to make a bottle of wine. In the technical notes that I receive with many of the wines we buy for the Wine Gallery is a note about the yield per acre. Grapevines can be quite prolific and produce in excess of 25 tons of grapes per acre. In fact, grapes comprise the largest fruit crop on earth. Winemakers are different than corn farmers and cattle ranchers. Winemakers do not care about the quantity yield per acre as much as they care about the quality yield per acre. In the viticulture business, big crops mean uneven ripening and unripe grapes don't convert to good wine. Grape growers know that if they stress the vines by pruning the vines and thinning grape bunches, they will achieve a higher quality in the winery. When grapevines are stressed, they react by diverting all of their resources to ensuring the next generation of seeds (inside the grapes) will be adequately fed. As a result, fewer grapes mean a crop that ripens at the same time and produces concentrated juice and flavor. Some of the best wines from Australia come from vineyards that yield less than a quarter ton per acre. Most wines in California are derived from vineyards that yield 2-12 tons per acre. We can do some basic math to determine how many grapes go into a bottle or a case of wine. One Cluster = 40-60 grapes One Pound of grapes = 4.5 Clusters One bottle of wine= 2.75 lbs. of grapes. One bottle of wine = 500-750 grapes One ton of grapes= 9000 clusters One ton of grapes= 60 cases (720 bottles) One acre = 2 to 12 tons One acre = 120-720 cases One acre= 1,440 to 8,640 bottles Memorize this chart in case you are ever a contestant on Jeopardy. |

Happy Thursday ladies -
Thank you all for the birthday wishes!! :D You're all such wonderful sista friends!! It's been a crazy busy birthday already. Up at 4:30 to get Doppler all set and ready to go to the vet for his cataract surgery. Then on the way to work, I had to stop and find donuts or bagels to bring to work as it's the tradition that the person whose birthday it is brings in the treats. I should've bought or made something last night as there is nothing open at 5:30 am when I'm on my way to work...not even the grocery stores, which I thought were open 24 hours. I was nearly late. But the donuts, mini-muffins and I arrived safely and on time. Even though they're at my desk, I'm not really tempted. Plus, I had a big breakfast when I got here of an Egg Beater and veggie omelet. I might've taken my birthday off work, but I have so little vacation time left. DH is taking the day off today and he just texted me that he has just left to take Doppler to the vet. I'm gonna worry about my little guy all day. I've got a b'day migraine...probably from the stress about Doppler and from running around this morning. I took a couple Aleve and hopefully it will go away soon. I'm scheduled to have PT at lunch time. Tonight, it will be a quiet evening at home caring for, and babying, Doppler. I'm hoping DMIL fixes dinner, but if she doesn't then we can get take out. We went out last weekend for birthday dinner to one of my fave restaurants. And the NFL season starts tonight...so we'll be watching football on TV. With the migraine and the bit of back pain I'm having, I think a pain-free b'day is not realistic...except for after I get home and can take one of my prescriptions. But a pain free year where I can lose about 40 lbs and get fit is realistic and would be a great present! Happy - I wish I'd been online to chat with you the other night...but I'm never up as late as you and Annie are. :( You're right...I have lived all over. Up until I was 10, I lived in VT, NH and MA. Then I moved to CA. Then moved to WA with my ex when he was in the Army. Then back to CA and now in WI. New England autumns are beautiful. Even prettier than WI autumns. Annie - I hope you won the lottery so we can start our commune. I used the TENS on and off all day yesterday and it helped. I was rushing around and didn't get a chance to put it on this morning before I got dressed...but I brought it with so I can put it on later...or the PT can put it on me after I'm done with traction. James and Tyler are definitely adorable. So that's what you meant by tubing. For some reason, I thought you meant tubing as in down a river. It looks like you were having a blast!! Mel - I'm glad you're world isn't quite as out of control. I hope your trip to TJ's and your meeting with the banker both go well. After all that is done...you relax, young lady! :rollpin: Shad - I hope you are enjoying your long weekend. Have you heard anything about your cousin and family yet? Ceejay - I hope your sinuses clear up and you get some relief soon. Laura - We had big winds all weekend and into the early part of the week. Lots of tree debris down everywhere. It was weird. I don't think we've ever had as fierce storms and damaging winds since we moved to WI 9 years ago. Good for you for getting to the gym! I hope your eyes are feeling better. I'm glad to hear that the shot helped your foot. I hope it continues to feel better. Lots of work to get done today, even though it's my birthday! Not fair! :lol3: Love and hugs, |
Good Moring on this glorious day in Indy! Was 55 degrees on the way to work, almost turned on the heat in the car....I refuse to give in to that just yet.....Sun is shining and it feels great out there.....hmmmm, what a great day for a birthday, Chelle....
Chelle...yes tubing = being towed behind a speed boat, very fast, hitting waves and wakes that beat you half to death, and that is so fun, I laughed my arse off. Not as achy today but am still feeling it. Doppler will do just fine, no need to worry about him. I am sure he is in good hands. Bless his heart. Send DMIL telepathy messages to fix dinner. I will too, maybe between the two of us she will get the hint. Happy.....I love getting my hair done as I love someone just messing with my hair/head...of course, someone is always messing with my head...lol Have a great day snookems.. Mellie...hope your day is going well at the bankers. Shaddie...enjoying a few days off? Ceejay...working or off today? Laura...Did you make it to the train station on time? Best get to work...got lots to do and a short time to do it in. Life moves so quickly when you don't want it to. Loves and Hugs |
Annie
I'm off today. This is my 4 day week end. Yipee. I was ready for it last night at 7 p.m. I had a rough 4 day's last week. Your tubing looked like fun. I'm jealous that you got to meet the guy who plays James in person. Michelle Happy birthday. Hope I'm not too late. Doppler will do good. keeping him in my thoughts today. We have a new donut shop in town. Think I'll stop by and see if they are any good. My neighbors has a couple of dogs who stay outside and one is continuously barking. I think she is lonely. This week I've noticed around 6 puppies and she's having a good time trying to keep them in line. My uncle called to tell me this is the week end for the uncles to get together. He's wanting me to come tomorrow for some unknown reason. My co-worker called this morning and asked if I could work on the next week end. It's not a 2 week notice but I said yes. I may have to have a spur of the moment notice one day. She gave me the excuse of her mil needing to go out of town but I also know that is is her birthday week end. I'm to the point I don't care any more. I also called my sister who lives in Dallas to check on them. I've been hearing and seeing reports of flood waters. Luckily they were not affected. More later. |
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Ack - spend 20 minutes writing a post and I went to take a sip of my tea and bumped my keyboard and LOST THE WHOLE POST. I have an abbreviated lunch today so I don't have time to re-do it. Hope all goes well for Doppler Michelle. Is it both eyes or just one? You doing ok Mel? We missed you this morning  Here's a :rollpin: in case you need to pursuade anyone otherwise :s: Sorry I can't repost to everyone. Stupid PC. Stupider nut behind the keyboard (me). Later ladies... |
Hi everyone. Just saying hi. I'm on lunch break during a training class. So far so good, hoping the afternoon session will be really productive. And that's the main topic of the training too. Will have to catch up later.
Hope everyone is having a good day, be it Thursday or Friday. Laura |
Morning all,
I am alive, just that I forgot ???? to post yesterday. Must be enjoying my days off too much. Went off to the doctor yesterday - not my usual who apparently has Thursdays and weekends off these day - who spared me a couple of glances, said my BP wasn't too bad but not as good as previously, printed out two pieces of paper from the computer and sent me on my way. I filled the script yesterday and I'm off down to get the blood test shortly. Done with that lot for another 6 months hopefully. However I have just remembered it is mammogram year and I should be thinking about that as well. Ah well, I will give them a call when I get back from dracula's den. Ceejay - nice of you to do a worker a favour. As you say, you may need help one day. It's a good one to have in the bag. Happy - well not so happy that you lost a post - I know the feeling well. Wish I had been around when you and Annie were chatting on facebook. Michelle - hope all goes well for the dog and for your back. Although I fail to see how the back will co-operate if you don't give it some rest and relaxation. It's all go with you girl. Oh and happy birthday to our birthday girl. Lots of love and have a good day. Annie - now you are into meeting up with famous people hey? Will we see you on our lowly end of facebook now? Laura - hope the training all goes well and you learn heaps. I'd better go have a shower and get down to the joint. I can't eat yet until I have been and I have a thumping sinus headache. Time to get on with the day |
Michelle - Tried to get this posted before I left work, but the page got hung up. Since you had to work, it wasn't the ideal b-day, but I hope you're having a nice evening. Good to hear Doppler did well in surgery!
:bday2you: :bday2: :hb: |
Told you that you would be the first to hear.
The family tree is all present and accounted for, including a cousin of my fathers whom I had forgotten. My cousin has little damage apart from some house contents and my dad's cousin had some problems with the house and the hot water system. Other than that, all are okay - frightened and tense due to the aftershocks which are continuing, but okay. |
Aftershocks STILL???????? :yikes:
Glad to hear they are all ok though. |
:sunny: GOOD MORNING LADIES OF THE WORLD!
AND A VERY HAPPY FRIDAY/SATURDAY TO YOU ALL. HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND. I CANCELLED MY TRIP TO TRADER JOE'S. THE CHECKS DIDN'T CLEAR FROM WORK...IT'S A NO WONDER...THEY WAITED TILL ALMOST 4PM TO GVE ME THE "EXTRA" CHECK AND THE BANKER COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT SPEEDING UP THE CLEARING OF IT. HE HAD LOTS OF GREAT IDEAS FOR SOMEONE ELSE...NOT ME. I ALSO HAD A PHONE INTERVIEW WITH THE GOVT ABOUT THE CHECKING ACCOUNT FIASCO. THEY TOLD ME TO BE AGGRESSIVE...LIKE I WASN'T   NOTHING NEW HERE. HAVE A GREAT DAY :moped: SHAD....THANK GOD THE FAMILY IS SAFE. JEN CALLED LAST NIGHT TO ASK. I'LL TELL HER TONITE WHEN SHE CALLS BACK. BET YOU ARE RELIEVED. I HEARD ON TV THAT THERE IS A LOT OF "SHIFTING" GOING ON WITH THOSE PLATES. SCARY STUFF :yikes: CEEJAY.....HOPE YOU ENJOY THE 4 DAY WEEKEND. HAVE FUN WITH THE UNCLES...THEY PROBABLY MISS YOUR COMPANY!! AND I BET THE PUPPIES ARE ADORABLE!! MICHELLE....HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH DOPPLER AND YOU GET TO RE-CELEBRATE YOUR BIRTHDAY OVER THE WEEKEND :hb: ANNIE...GOOD LOOKING KIDS AND WATER ACTIVITIES!! MUST HAVE BEEN A GREAT WEEKEND!!:belly: I AM STILL LAUGHING AT THE GRAPES COUNTING! :lol3: :lol3: IT HELPED ME GET THRU YESTERDAY. HAPPY...WHEN I LOOKED AT THE CALENDAR FOR TJ'S TRIP, I SAW MICHELLES'S BD THERE  GOOD THING I LOOKED!! THAT'S WHY I POSTED THE NIGHT BEFORE...I WAS GOING TO BE BUSY ALL DAY. HOPE YOU HAVE SOME TEA TIME TODAY BUT WITHOUT THE LOST POST!! LAURA...HAPPY FRIDAY TO YOU! ARE THERE STILL TRAINING CLASSES TODAY?? HOPE YOU GET TO SEE THE SUNSHINE THIS GLORIOUS FRIDAY!! |
HAPPY FRIDAY and yes TGIF FO SHO.......
What a glorious day it is outside, perfect temp, NOT ONE cloud in they blue beautiful sky. That is unusual for Indy. I had to drag myself in here today. I am leaving early today as I have Joel Osteen tickets for tonight and need to pick DD up at work, then pick up a friend and head downtown. If you don't know Joel, google him, he is such a positive preacher. Promise you will love him. Got home from work last night, hit the garage door opener and nothing. Finally manhandled the door to about a foot opening, crawled in under the door in my dress clothes no less, the spring is broke, so now I have to get a garage door dude out to get that fixed. Dang it, always something. My brother stopped by last night at 10:30 to check it out for me, he agreed, spring broke, need a garage door dude. Chelle...glad to hear Doppler is doing well. Take good care of him. RE-celebrate your BD...so it will be all about you. Shad...yes, mammograms are very important...my momma was a 17 year survivor of breast cancer after masectomy, too sad her kidneys got her in the end. God rest her soul. So glad to hear your family is all accounted for with minor issues. Laura...still in training?? Learning lots?? I have no more brain capacity to learn anything else. It is plumb full of useless crap....lol MELLIE...girl all I can say about all the bank issues is...all good things come to those who wait. Need a care package of food just hit me up, I am sure to find something to send you. I will even go light on the jalapenos. lol Happy...I just hate it when I feel I have the best ever post going on, then lose it. Try again today, my dear. That about covers it for me. Have a marvelous day/weekend..Joel Osteen for me tonight, CVS 9-5pm tomorrow, Baby shower on Sunday about an hours drive away in Bedford, Indiana, south of Bloomington, home of the IU Hoosiers. Much love and many hugs, |
MELLIE....love the avatar in you signature line...so cute!!
|
Good morning all. Happy Friday/Saturday. :)
Shad - What a relief to hear the family is okay. Annie - Yup, a beautiful day here. Lucky you to have your hands on those two hotties. Never been tubing - looks like big fun!! Enjoy the Joel Osteen event tonight. The training is over - just a 1-day seminar. Getting Things Done. As usual, I walked away with an overload of ideas, the implementation of which seems overwhelming. But very worthwhile, so I'll definitely be implementing some. Ceejay - Enjoy that 4-day weekend!! Have a good safe trip to see the uncles. Mel - Aaargh. What's wrong with those office people getting you your check so late?! Hope you have a quiet weekend. Hellos to Happy & Michelle, probably sneaking in at this very moment. ;) Not much to report. Last night I walked doggy and did one BE workout and a short stretch workout on a Tamilee dvd I have from the library. Woke up around 5 am this morning with a headache, but I took some ibuprofen and it's gone. Glad TOM week is almost over - all that goes with it was a real hassle. Wed. night I got up probably 4 times to use the bathroom - body letting go of all the water being retained. At least the scale was nice to me the following morning. :D. Today is a half day for me, then the eye doc and foot doc this afternoon. Nothing going this weekend - yay. Gotta run and GET THINGS DONE. |
I know we had one power blink last night before I went to bed but not sure about another one. I heard the fans come on again. I don't think it stormed but could have. The big thunder storm cell that was in the Paragould, Jonesboro area fizzled out to nearly nothing but I think it must of had some punch left in it. We had some good rain. We were under a tornado watch until 11 p.m. last night. It's a beautiful day.
Shad They are still having after shocks. Wow that would be hard to deal with I'm sure. Laura Are you still in meetings today? You have been doing well in the exercise department. Mel I'm sorry that you are having to fight this money thing again. Annie I watch Joel Osteen when i have to work on Sunday's. Glad you are getting to go see him in person. Michelle how is Doppler this morning? Happy How's your new hair do? |
Ceejay...this will be the second time seeing Joel. I went to see him about 4-5 years ago when he was in Indy. He is such an awesome speaker and so motivationally touching.
Laura...yup, two hotties, however they are a couple and married. ;^( Isn't that the way it always is? |
Hi ladies -
Happy Friday! TGIF!! Doppler's surgery went PERFECTLY according to the vet. He couldn't be more pleased. John took him for a follow up visit today and the vet said he is healing normally and all things look good. :) I didn't sleep well last night...too worried about Doppler. He was a little uncomfortable when we first brought him home yesterday...but he finally got comfy and slept well - better than me, I think. I just had Doppler outside on the leash. I know he would rather not have the cone (Elizabethan collar) and not be on a leash...but he walked all over the yard checking things out and enjoying fresh air. He even did some happy strutting/prancing and lots of tail wagging of course. :) Ceejay - So nice of you to work for your co-worker next weekend. Glad your sister wasn't affected by the floods, and that you got good rain and no tornadoes. I think our tornado season will be over soon...unless it warms up for an Indian Summer. Happy - I hate it when I lose posts....so I usually create the post in Notepad and paste it in when I'm done. Doppler had a cataract in one eye. He has been blind in his other eye since he was about 1 or 2 years old due to an accident while he was at doggie day care that caused his retina to detach. Since he only had one good eye left...and his vision was getting worse and worse due to the cataract, we decided that we had to get it taken care of so he could really enjoy life again. Laura - Glad to hear your training class was enjoyable and productive. That's often not the case. Good luck at the eye and foot docs. I hope all goes well. Shad - I'm REALLY, REALLY happy and relieved as I'm sure you are that all the family members are okay. Aftershocks after a big quake are enough to make anyone tense. I hope things quiet down for them soon. Hopefully the new script will do the trick for you and your blood test comes out okay. As for my back, I'm really not doing much. When I have to lift, I lift properly. And I'm doing my PT exercises. It's not even that bad yet today. Maybe a 3 on the pain scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being unbearable (which is where I was just a week or two ago). It occasionally goes back up to 7 or 8...but the pain isn't as bad or nearly as frequent/constant as it was. Mel - It sucks that your work checks didn't clear and you had to miss out on Trader Joe's. I hope all the financial :censored: gets squared away and SOON! Annie - Have a great time at Joel Osteen! What a great way to start the weekend, with all the positivity! Sorry to hear about your garage door. That was me a few weeks ago. Hopefully no trees or cataracts come your way. Good for James and Tyler to get married!! At the risk of getting political here...I don't have a problem with gay couples marrying. It doesn't lessen the sanctity of my marriage any. I'm thrilled when two people who are in love commit to each other. Anyway, I should be working, so I'd better get back to it. Lots of love and hugs, |
Chelle...great news about Doppler...once his eye heals, he will be looking at everything thinking that is not how he remembers it looking before...lol How old is Doppler again?
|
Annie - Even right now that his vision is better than it was...though not as good as it will be once the healing is done....Doppler is looking around and seems to occasionally get overwhelmed by suddenly being able to see things better/clearer. Doppler is 10, which for a Miniature Schnauzer is just past middle age. The Mini Schnauzer we had before Doppler (whose name was Radar - Doppler was named in honor of Radar) lived until almost 18 and acted like a puppy up until the last couple months of his life.

It's late and I am on my way to bed after roaring 'encouragement' at the All Blacks playing Australia. I had to read the riot act a couple of times and the ref came in for some flack as well, but they came through in the end. My mantra here is that "I support 2 teams, New Zealand and anyone playing against Australia". It doesn't win me any kudos around here I can tell you.
Went off to the gym this morning and put myself through the torture for near enough an hour. I'll be back tomorrow to do it all over again. I figure if I keep going, I may get to like it again. Mel - I'm glad that I persuaded you to keep the cash on hand. In these days of hard line banks and creditors getting stroppy, it pays to have a back up. Annie - a friend of mine in Christchurch who has a strange sense of humour and who is drinking her way through the earth tremors said and I quote: "I'm making a mango martini in honour of the kiwi in Aus. I put the ripe mango on the bench, an earthquake came and two pots fell on top of it - mashed it to puree. Scooped up the pulp, put it in with the vodka - gin bottle broke on Saturday - and plonked it all in the remaining martini glass - another earth tremor and I guess you could say it's been shaken and not stirred. No bloody olives - guess they are in the cupboard we can't open, and no ice on account of the power being out again. Best I don't have too many of these since the only working loo is out on the street 2 houses away. I think it's two houses, looks like two houses..........maybe only one. I've had the odd one or two." I thought of you Annie when that one came through. Michelle - so happy to hear that the dog is seeing better already. Give him a hug from me. Laura - don't you just love it when the scale is kind. Mind you all that garbage we have to go through just because of the time of the month - something has to be nice to us as a reward for not killing anyone. Ceejay - stay safe in all those thunder storms and tornado watches. Happy - new hair do huh? Hope you are ready for the weekend. Better go and put myself into bed. Otherwise I will be useless - or more so than today. See ya tomorrow |
Just a brief one since I'm getting ready to drive to paragould. Rain is in the forecast for today but tomorrow will be better.
Watched a little of the cancer thing on tv. not sure if it was a telethon or not but something similar. Neil Diamond was there and sang so was Chris Christopherson. Both have aged well but their vocies have not. My bil likes Neil Diamond and afterwards called my sister and talked to her for a bit. Told her of my plans to come for a visit. She's not going to get to graduate in December as she had planned due to completing her thesis. She's okay with it since this will be an easy semester. had a bit of a stomach upset yesterday afternoon. Don't really know if it was a stomach virus or nerves. I pick the later since it didn't last long and because of the bad week at work. Good thing I hadn't eaten that much yesterday. Stomach is still a little sore. I really don't need to eat much lunch. Shad Good for you in getting to the gym. Mel You deserve a quiet weekend and thanks for the belated birthday wish. Every one else have a good week end. |
Howdie Ladies......
Joel was so awesome last night. Sure did boost my positive energy!!! CVS was busier than heck today. It just flew by. Here I am posting for a change on a Saturday. Going to a party tonight. Good friend, Tami, her x-hubby is having it at his house. They have remained good friends and I was friends with them, so we are going to his party. Will be kind of strange at first but I am sure to adapt. Fixed stuffed jalapeno peppers for dinner tonight. I had so many of them outof the garden. Also made pica de gallo. Mouth is on fire. It will cool off in no time. Hey Shad...got your IM and you headed out before I could answer you back. Don't exercise too hard at the gym. Have an excellent day!! Chelle...Doppler still doing good? Morning kids,
Sorry I didn't get here yesterday. We were going to work in the yard but we got a light rain. Instead I spent just about all day at the computer, making up my list for vacation - things to do before the trip, what to pack, etc - this will help me from being so frantic the day before we leave. I rarely get any sleep the night before as I am pulling everything together so we can head out early. The trip up to my cousin's is 14 hours which is too much for either of us - even if I did help with the driving. :O So we are driving halfway, stopping at Mom's and then heading up and the same with coming back. The place we originally rented, the owner decided even tho there were bookings all the way to October - she decided to close the cabin 2 weeks ago, leaving us high and dry. The agent suggested some other places but nothing was quite to our liking - especially DH who was pretty upset that she could just dismiss our guaranteed reservation - particularly when we'd have to forfeit our $200 deposit if WE cancelled out less than 6 weeks prior to our reservation. I looked at some other places at lunch on Friday and found one that DH liked. No internet and outside fire ring :( but otherwise it's nice and not too far from my cousin. The thing is that it's rented for the weekend vacating Monday morning so we will leave a day later than originally planned and give up a day up there. That's ok, means I won't have to rush home Friday, try and get everything together and take off all frantic. We will leave Saturday and spend the weekend at my Mom's, heading north on Monday. Will again leave on Sunday and this time have a quick overnight at my Mom's leaving Monday again. Getting in and out of the city on Monday will be a REAL PAIN with the traffic so we will probably be heading out both times at about 4am. Still I think we will have fun. I did look up some things to do while up there - my cousin said the maple trees are turning and we should hit some nice color - the weather is cooperating too. :crossed: One day we will look at homes, another we will do a fall color drive, might go to the casino one day, catch their fall fair on the weekend and hopefully catch up with my other cousins who said they will make the drive north too to see us again. So something to do each day but not too rushed and leaves time to relax and read and enjoy the stars at night. The house sits on a lake and there is a nice open view off the pier which should give us a good view of the tree colors, eagles flying and stars at night. Just have to watch out for bears, deer and other smaller critters. We are looking forward to it but always so much work before a vacation! Mel - I have an extra iron if you want it. New in the box too :D Hate ironing although like you said, you sometimes need it for curtains and such. I'm glad to hear some of the money is coming back to you. :crossed: hope you get it all back. With the ridiculously low interest the banks give, I'd probably keep my shopping cash at home and just keep what you need to pay bills in the bank. Why does it have to be so complicated? go after the real problem people :rollpin: Annie - glad you enjoyed Joel. We all need a steady stream of upbeat. Did you enjoy yourself at the party? Maybe your tummy hurts because of all that hot hot hot stuff you like so much  I know it's supposed to be good for you but I'll pick the other milder good for you stuff ;) Ceejay - I haven't see Kris in a long time but last time I heard Neil sing on TV - I think he might have been an advisor on American Idol or something - I thought - he's kind of losing his voice for some of his songs. Kind of sad. Feeling better today? Shad - you sure do like the footy, don't you? I know the feeling of isolation you experience - kinda like being amongst all these Green Bay Wisconsin Packer fans  I loved, loved LOVED the martini story. I guess you have to find some humor in it all otherwise you'd go nuts. That Annie is a witty one! Michelle - hope you had a nice birthday weekend and that Doppler is doing well and seeing the world with new eyes. Laura - you out there enjoying September? It flies by fast. Enjoy the sun before the rain moves in. Has anything started to turn yet? I miss the brilliant golds in the forest preserves. I used to work in Northbrook and passed through the forest preserves - loved watching the trees turn - sure made up for the sitting in the traffic that came later in the season. Well I have lots to do and it ain't getting done sitting here - that's for sure. Have a good Sunday all. |
