Morning all,

Well here I am at work sitting watching the clock tick over. Still nothing to do although I might be able to teach myself some reporting stuff if I try hard. Have a meeting with the manager at 12.00 to discuss terminating my contract. I hate to do things like that but what is the point of sitting in my office for 8 hours a day talking to no-one but the walls and doing nothing but watch my fellow man and of course the river.

Ceejay - hope the stomach thingy has gone away.
We had Neil Diamond out here a while back. I didn't go to see him since I'm really not that much into crowds and trying to get into and out of venues here is a real rat race, and anyway it was in Sydney, but the concert shown on TV wasn't too bad. Darn sight better than the reviews of Whitney Houston's revival tour. I like music, but I am not so into it that I would spend the $100s necessary to get to and from many of these shows. Not all of them come to Brisbane because of the smaller population and venues.

Annie - sorry I missed you on facebook. We will catch up again. I managed to catch Patty - oneday at a time - for a bit of a chat later. I worked hard at the gym, 20 mins on the bike (oh my aching butt) and 20 minutes on the treadmill doing random levels and then some time on the weight machines upstairs.
Glad to hear you have had a good weekend.

Mel - Back in the kitchen again??? I've been doing some tossing of the plastics cupboard. I had so many that everytime I opening the cupboard doors they all fell on top of me. So the odd shapes and sizes are in a plastic bag out in the verandah waiting for me to take them to the recyclers.
Glad you enjoyed the mango martini story. Life is picking up for them over there. That persons house is condemned. It has shifted off the foundations - hence no sewerage. They do have water and power. At some stage they will have to leave the house and have it demolished and rebuilt, but for the time being they can live in it but the loo is one of those portaloo contraptions out in the street. The council has put them there rather than try to take the people out of their homes and risk looting and crime. It's amazing how well most of them are coping. The aftershocks are lessening, but no less frightening. One old lady said that as long as she had breath she would laugh and love as per normal, because there was no future in the other way. Most of them have the philosophy that you have to laugh or you'd permanently be in tears. Got the oldies through the war years, guess it will get them through this. We are a tough bunch.

Happy - what a pain that owner closed the cabin. I hope that the new one will have good things going for it. Where exactly are you going that it takes so long to drive? Mum will be pleased to have her chickie home for a short while.
I love my footy. I don't always see all the mistakes and errors, but that ref on Saturday didn't see them all either so I don't feel so bad. I watched some of the after match interviews and was less than impressed with the Aussie captain who seemed to think they were hard done by as far as the Ref went. When you look at the stats, I have a feeling the ref was playing for them. Funnily enough I believe that if the ref pings one side for doing something he considers inappropriate, then he should also ping the other side as well. Something that the Aussie captain failed to take into account. Bah humbug never mind. Last work on the subject is that over the entire Tri Nations tournament, the only times that any of the players got into real physical stuff (ie throwing the odd punch or two) is when the Aussies were losing. Strange that.

Aaah well, I got into work an hour and a half late this morning and still no one else is here. I'd better go sort out last weeks time sheet and get my ducks in a row for the meeting at lunchtime.

Seeya

A little bit of good news coming out of Canterbury for a change.

annie175 09-12-2010 08:43 PM

Hmmmmm....Sunday evening and ANNIE is posting both days on the weekend. She must me sick...lol

Happy...tell you what...you can come and camp out in my back 40 (the flatland beyond by back fence on the retention pond). Your DH can fish to his hearts content. You will have all the modern necessities of the loo, kitchen and laundry. I would love for you to come and hey, you could even have a bedroom or two if so desired.

Shaddie...you are already off to work...I am getting ready to head to bed. Do they have anything defined for you at the job or are you still entertaining yourself?

MELLIE...GO COLTS...whatever. They sucked. Texans beat us by 10 points, I hope this is not what is to come for the season. That is like only the 2nd time the Texans beat us in the last 15 years.

Heys to everyone out there....

I went to a baby shower for a friend of my DDs. It was a hour and half drive south of us in Bedford Indiana. The friend is so cute preggers, only thing preggers on her is her little bellie, looks like a small watermelon. She is so adorable. Her 5 yr old, Braylie is such a sweet little child and so well mannered. Courtney has done such a great job with her. Courtney was ony 17 when Braylie was born. Amazing.

Not much else going on. MI (boss free) this week. YES!!!

Have a marvelous Monday everyone....

love and hugs,

ceejay52 09-12-2010 08:43 PM

Shad
The stomach thing is getting better. Still not sure what it was. I see your egg light on. What a cute little kiwi!

Happy
Are you going to the New England states? I've noticed this week end that some of the maple tree's are beginning to lose it's color at the top. Also saw rag weed and golden rod.

Annie
I'm half way listening to Joel Osteen. Didn't know that he had a brother who lives in Little Rock, AR. who is a surgeon. The week end sounded nice.

Mel
I need to start putting some money back into my strong box. Will also say a prayer for Ritchie. He need's a break.

I've had a good week end. My aunt and uncle's dil made dinner last night which was a nice treat. There's something going on that I don't know all the details but I'm thinking that my aunt and she has had a falling out about the kids not going to her choice of schools. The school that my aunt wants them to go to is a private school that cost's money for tuition. I try to stay out of that part. I love her grand children and they always make a point to come to visit me. They were all excited about the new school. I didn't ask for information, they volunteered. To tell the truth they have more opportunities at this school. Their grandson is playing football, probably on the b team and their grand daughter is in beginner's band, learning the flute. They are both happy. My aunt is really displeased. She is also displeased that her dil is taking her daughters and one daughters friend to a concert. She wants to know where the money is coming from. Da, they don't pay tuition any more.

ceejay52 09-12-2010 08:45 PM

Hi Annie
you were the sneaker inner today.

happy2bme 09-13-2010 07:33 AM

Good morning all,

Going to be a long day for me today. I got to bed late (my fault) and then DH was having a snore fest all night long. No matter where I moved him he was going gangbusters. I woke up at 4:45 am and could not fall back to sleep again. Going to take extra coffee to get through the day.

Ceejay - I always read articles about suggested places to retire. New Hampshire keeps hitting the top of the list for retiree friendly. Even though DH is from the east coast I have not been up that way. It's hard trying to find the next place to settle down. Glad your tummy is feeling better and you had a nice dinner despite the underlying drama.

Annie - have a nice week bossless. How is the new arrangement working out? Tolerable? At least the job is still there. For now. May come a time when I ask to pitch the tent up in the back 40 - at least I know if I accidently start the place on fire I'm not too far from water  Might be cold in those Indy winters tho. :brr: Thanks for the offer!

Shad - sorry to hear you have ended your contract early. It sounds like they rarely are prepared to bring you on board and if they are, you need a month more than they give you. Hope the next job is right around the corner. Are things slowing down on the work end with rollouts and such? That's great news about the little kiwi bird. Kind of amazing - no matter what disaster happens births keep coming. As for our vacation we are headed up to the northern border of the United States. Probably a few hours drive from Canada if I stop to look. Can't go touch that border as I don't have a passport and would have to bed down with Madcat. Hence the long drive. Quite chilly up that way - have to go pull out my winter clothes. Just as long as it doesn't snow. Cousin said we will probably hit the colors (trees) quite nicely.

Good morning Mel. Saw something on TV yesterday that was based in NYC. Looked kind of dreary out that way. Hope some sun comes your way to warm and dry you up. Prayers and fingers crossed for Richie. They have to do something about drumming up some jobs in this country. I fear for what's going to happen in November with all the nut cases and zealots running around trying to upset the apple cart and torch everything without thinking about the ramifications. We might all have to relocate to Shad's side of the pond

Michelle - I have the feeling you are already hard at work at this early hour of the morning - God love yah. How's the back holding up? Catch any fish this weekend?

Laura hope you had a nice relaxing weekend to do what you wanted to.

Here we are half way through September already. The year is flying which amazes me as to why retirement never seems to be around the corner - always at a long outstretched arm off  Anyway 3 pay checks (I get paid once a month if you can believe that archaic system) until that time of year with the holidays that Shad will :rollpin: me if I say out loud and will get a double whammy :rollpin: :rollpin: from Michelle if I talk about a certain kind of preciptation common to that holiday. :D

Guess if I'm up this early I can get to work earlier and get the day over with sooner. Have a good one - Happy Monday chicks.

MELODY525 09-13-2010 07:39 AM

I FEEL FOR THE PEOPLE WITHOUT THE LOOS....BUT STAYING THERE IS BETTER THAN THE LOOTING....THAT'S A GREAT IDEA. I ONLY HOPE THAT THEY GET THE HELP THEY NEED AND REBUILD. WONDER HOW MANY MARTINIS IT WILL TAKE TO GET THE HOUSE DONE!! TOO BAD ABOUT THE JOB AND NOT HAVING ENOUGH TO KEEP YOU BUSY. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COMPANY??? ESPECIALLY NOWADAYS WHEN THEY SAY EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS?! CRAZY!

ANNIE...OHHHHH....A NEW BABY COMING :bb: SHE DOES SOUND CUTE. WHICH REMINDS ME...HOW IS YOUR BABY BOY?? I BET HE HATED LEAVING ALL OF YOU AGAIN TO G BACK. AND I WAS WONDERING WHAT YOU WERE DOING POSTING ON THE WEEKEND!!  NOTHING BETTER TO DO????

GOOD THAT YOU STAYED OUT OF IT:rofl: I AM HAPPY THE KIDS LIKE THEIR ADDED ACTIVITIES AT THE SCHOOL. THAT'S WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT... LEARNING FUN STUFF TOO. HOPE THEY ALL LIKED THE CONCERT!! THE FAMILY SHOULD BE HAPPY WITHOUT THE TUITION...GOOD FOR THEM.

happy2bme 09-13-2010 07:40 AM

Hey Mel - I was going to mention - have you noticed that Hurricane IGOR is out in the Atlantic flirting with you?

happy2bme 09-13-2010 07:41 AM

Mel - I would not have the patience to put up with those crabby old people. I can only hope that 25 years from now it's not Jen complaining about YOU :lol3:

Hi everyone,

Quick post today as I'm typing this on my phone. 3FC is now blocked at work! :censored:

Doppler is doing well and has a follow up appt this afternoon.

DH and I worked hard on Sat. But we got all the downed tree limbs into wood chips. Yesterday, we relaxed and watched football.

I'll write more tonight.

Love and hugs,

MELODY525 09-13-2010 07:57 AM

COULD IT BE THAT OUR SWEET AND DEAR HAPPY IS TALKING ABOUT CHRISTMAS SNOW?:ginger:

can you believe that i have listened to cranky seniors for 23 years???

MELODY525 09-13-2010 08:00 AM

PS TO HAPPY....I TOLD JEN TO GET A GUN!!:lol3: :lol3:

annie175 09-13-2010 08:39 AM

What a glorious day in the neighborhood. Sun is shining the weather was only 55 degrees, a little cool on the ride in but have not given in to the heater just yet.

Joel Osteen Friday night, worked CVS 9-5 Saturday. Went to an open house of a friend on Saturday night. Sunday all day at baby shower. Had to come back to Humana to rest.

Shad...Richter is such a cute little Kiwi. I want one. Too bad I can't adopt him. I don't know Shad about ending your contract....we all are looking for doing nothing and getting paid for it..lol Even if it does drive us insane.

MELLIE....yep a baby coming. Courtney is naming him Colton Christopher Alan, what a mouthful. I guess not any different than my Samantha Christine Carpenter. lol Baby boy is only in National Guard at the moment doing drill on the weekends. He has a few more months before he has to decide to either stay in National Guard or go full Army. Either way he will most likely be deployed to Afghanistan. I am dreading that, but trying not to think about it or dwell. 23 years of listening to seniors b*tch...sounds like the 23 years I worked at RCA/GE/Thomson in design engineering listening to the WEIRD engineers. Don't know why I posted so much on the weekend cause this was one of my most busiest weekends ever.

Happy....If you come camp in the summer time we even have a swimming pool in our association. I don't usually go as I have a phobia about public swimming pools. Too many germs and crap. YIK.

Chelle....don't you just hate it when they block stuff at work. I keep thinking it will happen here soon. Everything else is blocked. Hope your day was great. How is your back feeling? How is Doppler feeling? Did DMIL have dinner ready for you the other night?

Ceejay...families need to quit messing in other's business. If they want your opinion they will ask for it. Auntie needs not to worry and be glad they are getting an education.

Laura...how was your weekend. Anything fun?

Guess I best get this J.O.B. going. Unlike Shaddie, I have work to do and DON'T want to do it. Maybe ship it to Shad??

Have a marvelous Monday,

Love and Hugs,

annie175 09-13-2010 08:39 AM

P.S. MELLIE....Jen needs my DSs theory that everyone should get one free kill a month. Use is wisely. hahahahahaha

ceejay52 09-13-2010 08:45 AM

I agree whole heartedly about the family business. I am going to keep in touch with her grand children though whether she does or not. It hurts their feelings to see her this way. She's hurt me in the past. But I've learned to stay away from her in those cases.

I'm back at work this morning. So I really don't have time to post. Be back later after work.

MELODY525 09-13-2010 09:29 AM

MICHELLE....I WAS GLAD TO READ THAT DOPPLER IS DOING OK! I CAN'T USE THE PC AT WORK EITHER. SORRY TO HEAR 3FC IS BANNED AT YOUR JOB'S PC.

ANNIE...TOUDH DECISION FOR YOUR DS. WILL SEND BOTH OF YOU MY BESTEST & GOODEST THOUGHTS...AND A HUG  YOU HAD A WEEKEND FULL OF STUFF!!! THAT'S WHY I WAS SURPRISED TO HAVE YOUR COMPANY FOR TWO DAYS :encore:

CEEJAY...GOOD THINKING. I AM SURE THE KIDS WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ONE PERSON AS A FRIEND THT DOESN'T JUDGE AND GIVE THEM LOTS OF SUPPORT! GOD FOR YOU. HOPE THIS WEEK AT WORK IS TROUBLE FREE!! :cb:

:moped: I AM DRIVING THRU TO TELL YOU THAT ONE OF JEN'S CHECKS WAS IN THE MAILBOX THIS MORNING. THE POSTMAN SAW IT, DELIVERED IT RIGHT AWAY AS HE WAS GOING BY, AND RANG MY BELL TO TELL ME...WHAT A DOLL. HE'S A CARING PERSON. JEN WILL BE THRILLED!! NOW I AM GOING BACK DOWN TO TELL THE OFFICE THEY CAN ACTUALLY CASH OUR RENT CHECKS THAT I GAVE THEM ON FRIDAY
TODAY IS TURNING OUT TO BE ANOTHER GOOD MELLIE DAY

annie175 09-13-2010 09:45 AM

WOW Party while you can MELLIE.....Life is too short and the mailman only rings once....lololol

Laura705 09-13-2010 05:38 PM

Hello all. One of those days that flew by and I'm not sure how much I've actually accomplished, if anything!

I had a nice weekend. Had a hair appointment late Saturday morning and I read my book up til then. After the hair, I went to a nearby resale shop and bought some books (paperbacks 5 for a buck), a necklace, and some sewing items. After that was lunch, dog walk, some sewing stuff, tv, e-mail archiving (ugh), and that's about it.

Sunday I relaxed all morning w/ my book and the newspaper. Finally opened the box to our new bike rack and got it installed on the trunk. Very easy to use! So I put my bike on it and went for a ride on the nearest bike path. Beyooootiful day for it. :sunny: Only everyone else thought so too!! Walkers, joggers, inline skaters, etc. Had to keep warning them I was passing - and loud enough to penetrate the earbuds of the many folks listening to their mp3 players!! This is a particularly popular bike path nestled in a forest preserve (Happy - it's the Busse Woods path in Schaumburg). Next time I'll drive to a different path. Hope the weather allows for several more cycling opportunities the next couple months.

Happy - Sorry your cabin got shut down early. Not fair they can do that - but will penalize you for doing it. Wow, I hope you enjoy NH. My folks went to a few places on their vacations to see if they would be good retirement spots. Not long after, my father got tired of looking and they landed in Springfield, MO. They had their criteria, but I guess being somewhat near family was low on the list, ha ha. Mom's halfway between Chicago and Dallas, so about 500 miles from family in each place. What's on your list? Hope DH's list matches yours somewhat closely...

Michelle - Sorry 3fc is blocked at work!! Glad Doppler is doing well, hope the followup appt confirms the same. Glad the tree limbs are gone - just in time for the leaves, LOL. The squirrels are having a field day w/ the acorns on our trees. Sometimes it sounds like an acorn is 50 pounds when it hits the roof or gutters, but it's not just acorns, it's a clump of leaves on a twig.

Ceejay - Better for the mom to stay out of child-rearing decisions unless specifically asked. How's your stomach?

Mel - Yay for the incoming checks and that your rent checks will be good! Sorry the weekend was a PITA. Hope the rest of the week goes well.

Shad - So you terminated your contract? You gotta do what you gotta do. Hope another assignment comes along quickly that keeps you just busy enough! LOL about getting rewarded for not killing someone during TOM!!! :lol3:  We definitely deserve a prize for enduring it.

Annie - Sounds like a nice weekend. Yay for being boss-less this week. Crap - I just remembered I have to schlep my laptop home again tonight. I'm going to a meeting tomorrow morning that's relatively close to home, so by the time I get back home and take the train downtown to the office, it's a waste of time (no express trains that time of day and no, I will NOT drive downtown - it's a major PITA and costs a fortune to park). So I'll work from home tomorrow afternoon. I agree with you wholeheartedly - engineers are WEIRD.

Nothing going on tonight. I'll walk the dog and do a BE workout. Dinner - who knows? Never went grocery shopping this weekend, tsk tsk. Tomorrow is that morning meeting, so I'll probably be checking in here in the afternoon. Haven't heard what the movie is for tomorrow night yet.

Okay, my desk is a giant mess. I'll post and start working on it.

ceejay52 09-13-2010 06:38 PM

I'm still at work but every one else has gone home. SIGH

My stomach is feeling a lot better. Ran a low grade temperature this week end but not sure whether or not it was my sinuses or my stomach issues. My co-worker suggested that I make an appointment with the ENT to let him check out my sinuses. I may do that. It's kinda odd that it's just my left sinus but that's the one he cauterized when I had my nose bleed.

Mel
Yeah for Jen's check and what a nice mailman to come and tell you.

Michelle
Sorry that 3fc is blocked at work. I'm suprised they haven't blocked it here. but I don't think any one know's I get on this sight. They know I get on Facebook.

Laura
I'm difinitely making plans on going to Springfield, Mo at the end of October.
I can't wait. It's really a clean city. Have you ever been there? I wanna play with the baby.

Happy
Have you thought about Springfield, MO. for a place to retire?

Shad
Sorry to hear that you terminated the job. But I'm like you I don't like to sit and do nothing at all. I have cut down a lot of my repetive stuff.

Annie
Sounds like you had a good week end. You deserved it.

Shad 09-13-2010 07:09 PM

Morning all,

Like the old lady in Christchurch, you gotta laugh. Yesterday I terminated our contract - and it turns out they have already closed the project anyway. I mean what - not everyone is trained yet and as far as I know all sites are not yet live, but............. I'm not upset about the terminated contract and I instigated the decision. Anyway, the man I was talking to yesterday asked me to drop my cv in to a few people which is what I did early this morning. Half an hour ago, I get a call asking me to work for the company again, on a different project. I'm not that excited about finance but I will think about it. I need to talk to my mate Mick about the work he has coming up. I'd be happy to take a couple of weeks off if I knew there was work coming up, rather than have to go back to work this week on something I'm not all that excited about. But there you have it. The world works in mysterious ways.

Ceejay - families are also things that work in mysterious ways. You have to give it to them. Some like to push their authority and some are just loving and kind. Some suck and some have talent. God gave us our relatives - thank God we can choose our friends.

Mel - I hope Richie can find some sort of a job soon. Unfortunately the market is not really good for people with little experience and/ or qualifications although they seem to think that 15 year olds should have 5 years experience in exactly the same sort of job and be prepared to earn peanuts. Stupid people.

Happy - sounds like a nice place to go visit. Can't you be like most other people and sneak across the border in the dark of night. I don't mind the s**w word - it's that other one that bothers me, cos it means the end of the year and the anniversary of a whole range of deaths and bad happening. Wish I was coming with you on that break. Hope you find some interesting places to think about for retirement. Thought of trying for Martha's Vineyard??

Annie - the pictures on facebook of your party look great. Nice to hear that you are bossless in Indie this week. Nice work.

Michelle - Good to hear about Doppler. Always good to have some good news about our wee friends.

Laura - Nice bikeride. We have some good ones over here, but due to pedestrian lack of common sense and the fact that the bikers will not slow down on common paths, they are trying to separate the two.

Right, I need to go and acknowledge that I have the doco requested for the job and that I will give it consideration and I need to get in touch with Mick and get him moving to see what he has so I can make a choice by lunchtime tomorrow.

See ya

diyana 09-13-2010 07:49 PM

Not feeling well this evening. Tummy has been upset for hours. Going to bed. I'll post more tomorrow.

happy2bme 09-13-2010 09:39 PM

Caught up with all your worldly happenings but I am sooooo tired. 15 more minutes and I'm heading to bed. I hope to beat DH in there so when he comes upstairs HE gets to hear my snorefest

Hopefully early to bed means early to rise and I'll have time to come up with some incredibly witty comments in the morning to you. Till then, sweet dreams to all. Including Shad who can nap while we sleep for the moment if she wished :cloud9:

MELODY525 09-14-2010 08:15 AM

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...ey_balloon.gif HAPPY TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY LADIES OF THE WORLDLY SUCCOTASH!!

I AM FLYING HIGH THIS MORNING. MY OTHER GOVT CHECK WAS IN THE BANK YESTERDAY AND LAST NIGHT I SENT OUT THE BILLS ONLINE. NO LATE FEES FOR THIS CHICK AND HER CHICKLETTE THIS MONTH!
THE WEATHER THIS MONTH IS REALLY A TRUE FALL. WEIRD SKIES, FLASH RAIN STORMS WITH LOTS OF RUMBLING THUNDER, THE STRONG SMELL OF FALL LEAVES, CRISP MORNINGS AND SUNNY, WARM AFTERNOONS. JEN AND I WERE TALKING ABOUT IT LAST NIGHT BUT WONDERING IF OUR "INDIAN SUMMER" WILL COME....ONE LAST HOT SPELL. :dunno:
OH WELL...ON WITH THE DAY. SPEAKING OF WHICH...I WILL BE GLAD WHEN MY LIFE IS BACK TO NORMAL BOTH PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY. THE LAST FEW WEEKS HVE TAKEN A HUGE TOLL ON THE OLD BOD AND GAVE ME LOTS OF NEW PROBLEMS. BUT I AM RESILIENT AND WILL GET RID OF ALL OF THEM!! :D THIS TOO SHALL PASS.
HAVE A GREAT DAY :moped:

ANNIE....HOW DID YOU KNOW THE POSTMAN ONLY RANG ONCE...WERE YOU PEEPING???

LAURA...YOUR WEEKEND SOUNDED MUY FABULOSO!!! I LOVE THIS WEATHER FOR RIDING. COOL BUT NOT TOO COLD AND GOTTA LOVE ALL THE SMELLS OUT THERE!! HOPE YOU GET MANY MORE RIDES IN!! BUT I HEAR YA ON TOO MANY PEOPLE OUT ON THE PATH...SAME HERE WITH THE SIDEWALKS!!

CEEJAY...HOPE YOU WILL BE FEELING MORE LIKE YOURSELF SOON. SORRY TO HEAR THE TUMMY AND SINUS ARE STILL BOTHERING YOU  FEEL BETTER SOON!

SHAD....WOW THEY AREN'T EVEN DONE WITH THE LAST PROJECT AND THEY WANT YOU FOR A NEW ONE!! THAT'S REALLY SAYING SOMETHING FOR HOW THEY LIKE YOU! :cb: I WAS HOPINGYOU HAD SOME TIME FOR YOU AND SUNDAY BUT WHATEVER HAPPENS...OR WHATEVER YOU DECIDE...GOOD LUCK!! A NEIGHBOR TO JEN AND RICHIE UP AT THE TRAILER SENT HIM TO A FRIEND...HE SUGGESTED THAT RICHIE TRY ALL THE NEW NURSING HOMES AND REHABS IN THE AREA. THEY ARE LOOKING FOR ALL KINDS OF HELP UP THERE. IT WOULD BE NICE TOO IF THE KIDS COULD GET OUT OF THE CITY. THEY COULD USE A FRESH START WHERE NO ONE KNOWS THEM!!

MICHELLE.....HOPE THE TUMMY FEELS BETTER. SORRY YOU'RE UNDER THE WEATHER

HAPPY...I THINK I FEEL YOU BREATHING DOWN MY NECK AGAIN...I AM RUNNING LATE THIS MORNING :lol3:

annie175 09-14-2010 08:36 AM

Happy Tuesday....waiting on the garage door man to call me so I can meet him at the house to see about fixing the spring that is broken. Have not been able to access garage since last Thursday. Oh wait, this would be MELLIE's specialty in our commune...MELLIE could you come and wait for the garage door man...I hear he is a hunk!! lol

Laura...the ride and your weekend sounded wonderful. The famous path here in Indy is the Monon Trail however all we ever here about is the joggers getting mugged on it in broad daylight by masked/hooded idiots. Won't catch me on it and besides it sounds like exercise to me.

annie175 09-14-2010 08:42 AM

Posted before I was ready...will start again...

Shad...everything happens for a reason...good things come to those who wait...the baby mom posted the pix on facebook, not too bad.

Ceejay...everyone here is having sinus probs, I wouldn't doubt your issues to be related to that.

Chelle...sorry you are not feeling well, my sista. Hugs, my friend.

Happy...hope you had some sweet s*xy dreams of DH....lol

MELLIE...I am physco, I mean physic that is why I knew about postman, and maybe he rings twice, something about a movie or something. Our weather is cool in the morning and a LOT warmer in the afternoon, but no humidity so it doesn't feel too bad. We are supposed to get a bit of rain today, but not much. We have only had like 1/2" since June 23rd.

Not much else happening...have a marvelous day everyone.

Much love and many hugs.

Good morning chickies.

I rushed to bed early last night. DH stayed up to watch Leno. I'm sure he had to fall asleep listening to ME snore but them's the breaks  I think we both were singing to each other but softly. :D Feeling much more rested this morning. Good thing as it's a busy week at work.

Looks like someone bought the house next door already - man came over while DH was mowing and introduced himself. Young couple with a puppy. Yay no screaming brats I hope. :D They are tearing the roof off next door - I'm sure the previous owners are soooo mad they had to put all this money into the house that they will never enjoy or get back on the sales price. Beware of buying a fixer upper I say unless you are into that kind of thing...

Mel - sounds like you have great weather - except for the passing hurricane. I want to see you flirt with Annie's garage guy and find fake stuff for him to "fix" you you can get your fix of his backside  You crack me up woman!

Annie - so nice of you to break the door to accomodate Mel's needs :D Seriously if that ain't a pain in the tush. I know there's a manual way to lift the door if the spring broke but I could never get it to work. Hope you get it fixed fast.

Laura - that's a pretty extensive bike trail - 17 miles or something I think. Can't you drive to a less used section down by the Elk or something? I know it gets pretty crowded out that way. But good for you for getting outside.

I am running late this morning so will have to catch up at lunch time. to Ceejay, Michelle and Shad. Talk to you later.

diyana 09-14-2010 09:29 AM

Happy Tuesday ladies -

Able to get to the 3FC site today...hope it stays this way. :crossed:

I'm feeling a bit better than I did last night, but I still have a migraine that I've had for a few days. Dang thing just won't go away. And my back is a bit sore...I'll have to put my TENS unit on it later and crank it up to loosen some of the muscles.

Doppler's follow up visit went pretty well. The vet says the retina looks in really good shape. He said the eye pressure is up, which is normal after such an extensive surgery, but it's important to bring it back down ASAP, so he adjusted the meds, and wants to see him this afternoon. So after work, I'll rush home and pick Doppler up and then take him to the vet. Doppler is adjusting well to the cone and really being tolerant about all his eye drops and pills.

As for my back...it's still sore from time to time (yesterday and today especially), but I think I've gotten about 30% to 35% relief from the first series of shots. So I'm looking forward to round 2 this Friday afternoon...even if it means that I'll be really sore this weekend.

Our 10,000 steps per day challenge started yesterday, and I must've done a lot of walking to get water and go to the loo because somehow I managed to just eek out a little over 10K steps. Yay!! Hopefully I can keep it up.

Happy - Your vacation up north sounds wonderful!!! Except that the person CLOSED the cabin with reservations pending! I hope you thoroughly enjoy your new accommodations. We have two trees in our neighborhood that have just started turning their fall colors on. These two are the early ones every year. You better watch what you say missy...you almost said the forbidden holiday and mentioned the forbidden precipitation! None of that! Glad you got a good night's sleep last night and feel rested today. :) Nice that your new neighbor introduced himself to your DH. Hopefully the puppy isn't too barky. My doggies can be barky, but there are other dogs in the neighborhood that bark a lot more than ours do.

Ceejay - We recorded Stand Up to Cancer, but we haven't watched it yet. We really like Heart and Green Day, so we recorded it to see them. Last time I heard Neil Diamond sing...his voice sounded like it was going. I hate family drama. I'm glad your stomach is feeling better. Mine was bothering me last night, but so far it's doing better today.

Annie - Glad you enjoyed Joel and got an awesome dose of upbeat positivity. Is your "boss less" week going well? Glad you had a great time at the baby shower! The photos look great! You are beautiful as ever! It's cool in the mornings here too..I haven't given into the heater on the ride in..but I do need to use the defroster sometimes to clear the fog off the windshield.

Shad - The martini story was hilarious! I know what you mean about your favorite teams. My fave NFL teams are the Packers and whoever is playing the Chicago Bears or the Minnesota Vikings. I totally understand what you said about seeing concerts. DH and I love music, but we now just see bands that perform on the free stages at Summerfest or fairs. We have a hard time justifying spending $100+ per person for concert tickets...just a couple hours of entertainment. You are definitely rocking the gym! You and Laura are both exercise :queen: now. As for your work...they closed the project without telling you?? I hope something great turns up very soon. You are so right about the job market...it seems employers want 5-10 years experience and a master's degree and are only willing to pay minimum wage (or just barely over). :dunno: It's always been my opinion that employers will get what they pay for. But then again there are a lot of high paid people in the country who do little more than take up space and suck up oxygen.

Mel - I'm glad you had some money set aside where the banks and creditors couldn't touch it. Glad to hear that Jen got a check as well. And that all the bills got paid without late fees! :) Sending prayers, :goodvibes: and keeping my fingers crossed :crossed: for Richie that he will get a great job very soon. Too funny about the Seniors and the BBQ. Some people aren't happy unless they have something to beotch about. I see that a lot with one of DH's sisters. Darn it, Mel, why did you go and mention the two FORBIDDEN words?! :tantrum:

Laura - Hope your meeting goes well and enjoy your work from home afternoon. I totally understand about not wanting to drive/park in downtown Chicago. Your bike ride sounds sooo nice, despite having to dodge pedestrians. I'm hoping my back will be good enough for a bike ride before it gets really cold.

I got here at 5:30, so I don't feel bad about taking a few minutes to post. But I'd better get back to work now.

Lots of love and hugs,

annie175 09-14-2010 11:05 AM

Well ladies....the garage door cost me $163.20. Not as bad as I thought it would. The guy was NO eye candy...sorry Mellie... Quite plump. Said he was born and raised in Canada and played ice hockey for 12 years, he must of went downhill awful fast after that. lol. He gave the the spring (as in garage door spring) special. The labor for the whole 15 minutes he was there was $99.00. WOW am I in the wrong business.

Chelle...glad Doppler is doing so well. Just wish you could be pain free for a change. Prayers!

Love and hugs,

ceejay52 09-14-2010 12:51 PM

Annie
I'm sure that my sinus problem is due to allergies. I noticed the golden rod and rag weed both are in bloom this past week end and with the farmers defoliating their crops is another thing for me to take into consideration. Every thing cost now a day's and it's mainly for the labor. Glad it was in reasonable price range.

Mel
I'm with you on the back to normal routine. I'm set at work with doing things in manual. The motor still hasn't arrived. I almost let the filter go dry this morning while I was down stairs monitoring the chemical rooms. I heard it gurgle and ran to push some buttons. At least we are not physically doing this. Yeah for the checks beiing in the bank. I like to pay my bills on line.

Michelle
Hope I didn't send you my stomach problem via the internet. Maybe what I had was due to direct contact with some one else. Feel better soon.

Happy
Glad you got a good night's rest. I know I did but sure didn't want to get up this morning. I like fall weather for sleeping.

Laura,

Not much going on today and I hope it stays this way. I'm happy and content. And curious where my other boss is. Haven't seen him all day.

diyana 09-14-2010 01:50 PM

Annie - Glad the garage door is fixed. Bummer about the expensive labor charges though. Sheesh! $99 for 15 minutes? I'd like to make $400/hour, but I think the only way to make that much per hour is to take your clothes off!

Ceejay - You said your tummy troubles might be the result of "direct contact" with someone....was the someone cute and was the contact fun? ;) :belly:

annie175 09-14-2010 01:56 PM

Chelle....they would pay ME to put my clothes back ON!! LOL

Laura705 09-14-2010 02:26 PM

Hi everyone. The meeting this morning was good. I left after the presentation and didn't hang around to network - hate that stuff. But I do want to ask for the powerpoint presentation so I can share it. It ended early, so I got home before 11. I got the laptop fired up, looked at e-mail and made a call.

Bf had an event to attend downtown and was going to take metra, but wouldn't you know it, the train he was taking had mechanical problems. So who knows when it or the next train will come. We drove to the CTA blue line and I dropped him off. Now I'm back home and I think I've lost my VPN connection to work. But I'll post this before I try and get back on.

Shad - Hope Mick has another assignment for you that's more to your liking! Interesting the co. closed the project but still would have had you sitting around looking at the river...

Ceejay - Yeh, I've been seeing a lot of blooming goldenrod lately, especially when I was on the bike trail the other day. I'll have to look up what it means to defoliate crops. Closest I know of is exfoliating, lol.

Michelle - Glad Doppler's on his way. Congrats on the 10,000 steps. :) I definitely need to wear my pedometer more often - it seems like I do a fair amount of walking, but I might just need a reality check! It's nice working a home - I'm set up at the table in the 3-season room. I have a view of the yard, and my pretty blooming geranium that's on the patio table. Doggy is loving being outside. He was stalking a squirrel earlier, lol.

Happy - I hope your new neighbors are nice & normal and the puppy will be well-trained and non-barky. Good sign that they're getting the roof taken care of right off the bat. Re the trail - I actually did go to the southern portion in Elk Grove Village - I parked by the Elk Grove (fenced in area of the forest preserve where there are actually elk) and did see some elk. It's less congested over there than the Schaumburg portion, but there were still people all over the trail - beautiful Sunday, no surprise.

Mel - Glad the finances are getting straightened out and no late payments made or fees incurred. Now you can get back to normal, focusing on yourself and being healthy. It's been cool and fall-like here, but I'm hoping for a bit of Indian Summer.

[Jeez, can all the dogs around here just stop barking already?!?! The mailman is coming around, so I know why Coal is barking...]

Annie - Glad the garage door opener repair wasn't ridiculously expensive. Sorry the guy wasn't good eye candy...no fair. For that labor rate, he should at least be easy on the eyes, no?? I was thinking it would be nice to be on the bike path during the week when no one else is on there, but then again that might not be very safe. Okay, I'll settle for sharing it w/ other cyclists, but can all the walkers, joggers, skaters, and clueless wanderers just stay away???

Nothing much else to say. Tonight's movie is "Going the Distance" w/ Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. Got a decent review from a local critic who's otherwise been blasting all the other romantic comedies, so I hope it's entertaining.

Time to post. Have a good Tuesday/Wednesday ladies!
:flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1:

Laura705 09-14-2010 05:46 PM

Okay, the problems caused by the vpn made this work at home day mostly unproductive. How could I forget always having to reconnect? Oh well. Start again tomorrow - in the office.

Anybody read those Janet Evanovich Stephani Plum books? I was digging through the mail and found the latest newsletter - they cast the movie. Filming, but not in Jersey, where the books are set. Hunh. See this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1598828/

happy2bme 09-15-2010 07:30 AM

Good morning chicks,

Had to get up extra early to drop the car off for servicing. Got up, fed 2 cats, opened extra cat food for my own fussy cat since she didn't like meal #1 and is approaching a bag 'o bones. Made coffee. Got the trash together for DH to take to the curb and before I know it, my 45 minutes was gone and I have 10 minutes to gulp my coffee and get in the shower. So no posts this morning.

Laura - I am curious as to how that movie was. It's one of the few I'd like to see but from the still shots it looks like Justin and Drew did not have very good chemistry together. It was also supposed to be rather raunchy from the reviews I read. I think they need to stop making movies only geared at people under 25  At least in the romantic comedy genre.

Gotta run - have a good one all

annie175 09-15-2010 08:31 AM

Good Morning Chicklets....Hump day, trash day, no workie at CVS day...yeah!!! Altho have to work all stinkin weekend.

Well between last night and this morning on the way to work I have managed to eat an entire bag-16 oz/1 lb, of roasted/salted pistachios in the shell, minus the shell, of course. That would be great protein, 48 grams. but also 1360 calories, 64 grams carbs....etc etc. Can you say MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I should not eat for at least two days, but you know I will. I am thinking I shouldn't buy any more of those, can't control myself. YIKES!

Laura....was the movie any good. I do like Drew Barrymore, I think she has come a long way and in a good place in her life. I do read Janet and will check out the website later, if this place will allow me. Some of the sites that are blocked here are redick.

Chelle...yeah for the price to fix the garage door you would think they could send something nice to look at, especially when he was up on the ladder. Um no, not me, didn't go there. Glad Dopp is doing so well. Some kids are great patients, evidently Dopp is.

Happy...yes, when we are doing something we like to do the time just flies right past us. Let us be at work and an hour can seem like a week. Hope your day goes fabby...

Hellos to all...

Love and hugs

Happy Wednesday!

Doppler's follow up appointment yesterday went really well. His eye pressure is back down to normal. Keeping in mind that he is not supposed to bark excessively, jump or get overly excited while his eye is healing, we nearly broke all those rules when we arrived at the vet. Just as I parked the car, both he and I saw someone taking their dog inside the office. He got very excited and started barking, but was good about quieting down when I told him to. I left him in the car and I went to check in with the front desk. There were 3 dogs waiting in the waiting room for their appointments. I told the receptionist that I'll need to keep Doppler in the car because if I brought him inside, there would be no way I could keep him calm and stop him from barking/jumping with so many other dogs there. So I went back to the car and we waited until it was our turn. Even then, Doppler would see dogs and their owners leave and get excited...but not nearly as bad as if he were in the lobby with all those dogs.

Doppler has also learned how to manipulate the vet. When the vet wants to check his eye, Doppler squints so the vet can't examine it. It's not until the vet gives me a dog biscuit to hold that Doppler cooperates! What a stinker! :lol3: Just like his momma, I guess. I'm definitely more cooperative when treats are involved!

I got my 10K steps in yesterday. In fact, I walked to and from PT. Mind you, it's only 1/2 mile each way to our company Wellness Center where the PT is located, but a month ago...that short walk would've been impossible. My back was a bit sore when I arrived, and I was worried how I'd do walking back after traction...but I used my TENS device which helped the pain. The PT said that I should try using it and walk daily at lunch so I can get a bit more exercise. But he cautioned that I should NOT try and walk all 10K steps during lunch break. :)

Today is the first day in nearly a week that there are no doctor/visits after work. So I'm hoping to mow the lawn if it doesn't rain/isn't too wet. I'll use our riding lawn mower, so I should be okay.

Laura - Hope you enjoyed the movie. I also like Drew Barrymore. One of my fave movies of hers is "Major League". Of course that could be because growing up in New England one of my fave baseball teams is the Red Sox. Bummer that your work from home day wasn't too productive. I hope that doesn't lead to an overwhelming amount of playing catch up the rest of the week.

Happy - Isn't it funny how time can get away from us in the morning. I've got a set routine in the morning, and heaven help me if it gets altered in any way. I've finally managed to adjust my wake-up time and morning routine so I can get all of Doppler's medications administered (in addition to his insulin shot, he gets 5 eye drops - 10 minutes apart, 2 pills (taken with a dab of peanut butter of course so they go down), and a liquid oral medication. So are you leaving this Saturday for vacation?

Annie - Any plans for your free evening? Bummer that you have to work all weekend...but if it makes you feel better...I won't be having tons of fun this evening. Mostly I'll be laying in bed on an ice bag or using my TENS device, trying to keep Doppler from jumping off the bed. Dopper is a great patient when it comes to taking meds...but he REALLY, REALLY wants to jump on and off the furniture and run around.

 to Shad, Ceejay and Mel!

Love and hugs to all,

annie175 09-15-2010 11:06 AM

Chelle....So glad Doppler is doing so well. He is probably more excited about other dogs at the vet cause he can actually SEE them. Bless his heart. Going to my daughter's shop for color and cut tonight. I tell you my hair grows so dang fast. I guess it is from being on the biotin. I need color after just 3 weeks and make myself wait till the 4th week. In 3 weeks time is grows about 1/4" or maybe a little more than that.

Meeting a former Humana associate at TGIFridays for lunch today. They have a lunch soup and salad that I just love.

Tis all for now. Only 186 days till SPRING!!!

MELODY525 09-15-2010 11:34 AM
