Suffering Succatosh the Worldies are Slimming in September

It's already September in Shad's part of the world so I'm posting up the new month's thread.

Let's spend this month remembering how we got to this point in the first place and getting back to basics (or whatever it takes) to get us back on track again. Someone can be the bullet train and pull us along and others can catch anyone who MIGHT be thinking about falling off the wagon.

I love September myself. Weather is great, bugs are down and it's time (for most of us) to enjoy the last vestiges of summer. Shad on the other hand is getting ready for springtime - also a good time.

Here's to a great month  (water toast of course) :D

happy2bme 08-31-2010 06:01 PM

Ack! I just noticed that someone (who shall remain nameless ;) ) does not know how to spell succotash

Wish I'd proofed before posting. :write:

Shad 08-31-2010 06:22 PM

Of course I will do your doco for you Michelle. After all, I'm sure you will appreciate it more than the lot I for whom I am working.
Sorry to hear the back is playing up again. I always find when sciatica rears its ugly head in my back, I have to sit straight instead of the slumping over the desk and computer that is normal for me. I also notice that if I carry my computer bag - complete with computer over the shoulder then the back seems to lock up to the left in compensation. So balance the loads or wear a back pack. It's habit that I carry the strap on the left shoulder.

Laura - the years come and so do the pounds. The years go and the pounds stay. *sigh*. It's a cruel world out there. Some seem to have it so easy.
Enjoy your long weekend.

Annie - you too. Enjoy your weekend away from all offices of work. And have a wee dram for me - or a big one for that matter. Say hi to the ladies. One day, one day, we may all be having a drink at Champps

Happy - Our monarchs live on swan plant. Now I don't know if that is the same thing as you have. They are called swan plants because they bear seed pods in a fat elongated oval with a pointy bit at the end and hang from a long sometimes curved stalk. And as Laura says if you don't do something about them, they spread. Still there are worse things than monarch butterflies around the joint. Nothing seems to eat my parsley - including the DS2!

Ceejay - your BP will rise with exercise. Exercise lifts the heartrate and sends the blood pumping through the body. Lowering BP is not the result of a single bout of kickboxing at the gym or a walk along the pier. It is the result on continual, constant, invigorating exercise done over a period of time. It will not happen overnight but it will happen. Thank you Rachel Hunter for incorporating that saying into everyday life

I miss Mel. Hey - if you are reading this, it is time to talk again. NOW! Do not wallow in misery. How can I help if I can't get to you.

Work sucks - even more than usual. Things are changing on the project again and the person who signed my timesheets is moving on to other things. As yet there is no replacement. I also apparently have a new manager. His name is Andy. I have no idea who he is or where he hangs out. I am presuming it is the Andy who chaired a meeting I went to last week. So far, few people have contacted me regarding anything to be done during this last month of my extended contract. I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing, but hey, who am I. If they are happy, leaving me here in an office without any direction and without instruction and are happy to pay me $60ph for doing it, then who am I to whinge and whine. I know what I am - bored that's what. I have nearly done updating all the doco. It will never be great doco, but they are happy with it. I mean - yesterday I just finished a document which details how to find materials in the store. Well actually it doesn't, because every single one of the demonstrations and exercises presumes you know what the bloody catalogue number is! There is nowhere on how to search for the waukesha gasket with the gold teeth and 5/8 encrusting of diamonds. Well that is a bit of an exageration but you get the message. I always thought documentation was supposed to inform, not presume.
Listen buddy if I knew what it was and I knew the %$#^*^& number, why would I be &$*%&#$% looking for it???? I'd just tell the storeman to get me one of those!!!!!! Perhaps it is me! *sigh*

Gotta go. Staring out of the window to be done. Trying to figure out when and where the poltergeist will strike next to be done. Waiting for lunch/ home time to be done. Meantime, I will just drink the coffee and get on with the doco.

Okay before I blow something like a phoo phoo valve. I am off.

While I was blowing off steam, Happy was making us a new house. Thanks Happy. I've copied my post over to here.

Shad 08-31-2010 06:24 PM

Happy - when Ruth gets back from her meandering in Cape Breton, ask her to fix the spelling - if it matters by then.

Some people have all the luck. Wish I was meandering someplace other than here.

happy2bme 08-31-2010 06:34 PM

Thanks for reposting Shad. I am bound and determined to work the phrase "phoo phoo valve" into one of our upcoming threads.

I'm off to see what delicacies the DH has cooked up for his princess tonight :queen: :D

happy2bme 09-01-2010 08:31 AM

Good morning all,

Happy September to yahs. 8 months flown by already. Only a couple of weeks until vacation :yay:

Brain is dead this morning so I'll have to come back later when I wake up and post more.

Till then - happy hump day and trash day for some of us. Have a good one!

happy2bme 09-01-2010 08:33 AM

Oh and bummer on the job there Shad. But at least it's only a month - hope someone shows up to sign your time sheets and pay you! The contracts don't seem to be as interesting as they once were or is it just me thinking that way?

diyana 09-01-2010 08:47 AM

Happy Hump Day ladies -

And Happy "Thursday" for Annie and Happy "Friday" for Laura!! Happy September to all! I'm leaving work early today to take Doppler to the eye doctor.

I had a good PT session yesterday. We went over my exercises and I got some clarification on exercises that I wasn't sure of and alternates for exercises that I was having trouble doing due to lack of proper equipment at home. And she added some new exercises. I made a list of all the exercises since I seem to have "CRS" (Can't Remember S*it"). Then the PT put me in traction, which as we're fine tuning the specific way I lay down on the machine and how I get up off from the table, I managed to have NO PAIN. Yay! My back still felt a little twingey on the drive home, but not too bad. The PT and I also discussed that after I get my shot tomorrow afternoon, I should NOT do any PT exercises or any other exercise for that matter at least until Monday or Tuesday to give the steroid time to work it's way through the disc area to reduce the inflammation. I said we may go fishing this weekend, but it will be bobber fishing...no casting involved. She wants me to make sure my back is properly supported all weekend...and when it's not, I should wear the lightweight brace she gave me.

As for the tree debris, DH is going to rent a large scale wood chipper so that we can turn it all into mulch for the garden as we're going to be doing A LOT of landscaping in the spring. A larger wood chipper should make fairly quick (and hopefully painless) work of clearing the yard. We're going to wait until the weekend following Doppler's eye surgery since we'll need to stay around the house anyway.

I've got my doco nearly done. I've got a couple other things to take care of this morning, but I'll finish the doco before I leave for the day.

Oh, and before I forget...I followed Annie's bariatric plan yesterday, and it wasn't bad. Protein first, veggies second, lots of water, little or no starch, no sugar (but sweeteners are allowed - thank goodness). I might just be able to do this. We'll see how I feel after the first week.

Mellie - We really miss you. Please come back. :grouphug:

Shad - Thanks for the reminder about sitting up straight and the good advice about the computer bag. I have a habit of carrying the bag AND my lunch tote on my right shoulder, but that does throw me out of whack. So I don't take my computer home unless I'm working at home the next day. :) I hope Andy turns out to be a good manager and that you get some direction/instruction soon. Otherwise enjoy getting paid for being bored (although I hate being bored and unproductive too). Do you still have a great view?

Happy - Hope you had a yummy dinner!!! Thanks for setting up the new thread. Did I miss something? When and where is your next vacation?

Better get back to my projects.

Love and hugs,

annie175 09-01-2010 09:12 AM

Howdie...

Ok Happy....that is the "Hoosier" spelling...so back off. LOL...

Chelle....resting from exercise til the shot kicks in also mean NO YARD WORK.....and I mean it.. Don't make me come up there and wap you with the rolling pin.

MELLIE...I miss you sweetums...come back, come back where ever you are.

Shaddie...go figure on the job front...sorry it sucks so bad.

Hellos to all..
Love and hugs

annie175 09-01-2010 09:13 AM

Oh and Chelle...congrats for sticking to the plan. One day at a time...I KNOW you can do this....I have faith in you...

diyana 09-01-2010 10:16 AM

Annie - No worries, my dear friend....I will NOT be doing any yard work this weekend. If I'm out in the yard, I will be laying on my lounge chair. I even told DH that I can't bring up any loads of laundry from the basement, and I may not even do laundry or grocery shopping until Monday. No exercise/exertion for this chick. I'm gonna do everything I can to help this shot work.

Laura705 09-01-2010 10:59 AM

Good morning all.

Happy - Thanks for starting the new thread. I know it's the start of the meteorlogical autumn, but your avatar makes me sad. :( How was the burger yesterday?

Shad - Hmmm, someone wanted you around for another month, but no one's giving you work to do...bet the shareholders would love to hear about that. Oh well, as long as you're getting checks, LOL. Too funny about the stock doco without any lookup for stock numbers. Well maybe not a ha ha funny, but more of a head shaking kind of funny.

Michelle - Good luck w/ Doppler's appointment. Glad to hear the PT went well and that you're all set to take it easy this weekend.

Annie - Guess we need to get a copy of the Hoosier dictionary, LOL.

Mel - Hope all is well with you - come back soon!!

Ceejay - Any special plans for the holiday weekend - do you get Monday off work??

Not much to report. Bf took doggy for the walk yesterday. I did one BE workout, after I'd started a load of towels. Then I forgot to put the towels in the dryer and had to do it this morning so I had a towel for today's workout session.

One of the reasons I took tomorrow off work was because bf's niece (lives out of state) was supposed to come visit us before she went on to her dad's place. But now we haven't heard from her, so we think she's probably been pressured to go straight to her dad's instead. Whatever... Sick of dwelling on what jerks the dad and stepmonster are. And quite frankly, they didn't seem to make such a point of trying to see the daughter until the grandson came along. Sometimes I think they just want to spend time slobbering over the baby, and they use the limited financial support they give her to force their will on her. I guess we'll just visit her in KY some other time.

Anyway, I'm still taking tomorrow off work. I think I'll take home the laptop - I like browsing the internet while sitting outside. Need to schedule my massage, and also get the dog to the vet to take care of his glands and claws.

Nothing going on tonight. Maybe bf and I will go to a movie. Or I'll do some sewing. I dunno. Obviously no firms plans.

If I'm not around much, everyone have a nice rest of the week and weekend. :)

annie175 09-01-2010 10:59 AM

Perfect Chelle...just what I wanted to hear....

annie175 09-01-2010 11:03 AM

Laura....that is what I am thinking, having a relaxing, lazy 4 days off. I am right there with you. I am going Saturday afternoon to pick Samantha up from work then we are heading down to Sweetwater lake, DDs boyfriend's parents house on the lake with dock and boat to boot. May even do some much neede fishing. Lazy lazy lazy...easier for me to be lazy elsewhere besides my house.

diyana 09-01-2010 11:08 AM

Annie - It is ALWAYS easier to be lazy away from home. I remember one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever had was when DH and I went to my cousin's cabin on a lake in Northern Vermont. The area was getting hammered with rain, so we were mostly stuck indoors for a couple days except for the occasional breaks of sunshine when we'd go outside. And when the storms were bad, the power would go out...so we just layed around and read by sunlight during the day and flashlight at night. Ahhhhh. :cloud9:

Laura705 09-01-2010 03:39 PM

I agree with you both - getting away is the most relaxing. Hanging around the house, I just see everything I should be doing...

ceejay52 09-01-2010 05:05 PM

Aftenoon
You girls are a talkative bunch.

Sorry I haven't been here but we are having mechanical problems at work which takes more of my time.

Happy
I agree. I really need to get back on track. One of my problems is that I'm so techincal with things that I give up to easy. Told myself this time that no more ocd. Gonna live my life on a daily basis. I've begun exercising this week for 20 minutes for 2 days so far.

Laura
Unfortunately my shcedule day is Monday, the holiday. I don't really mind the over time. I've made up my mind that I'm going to the Library tomorrow.
to check on the Eat, Pray, Love book.

Michelle
Being lazy on a lounge chair in the yard sounds like a winner to me. If it's not raining I may do that myself. I would really like to take a vacation soon.

Shad
I'm glad to know that it takes time to get down the bp. I'd like to get off the meds but I"m not sure if I can since this was one of my mom's major problems with her heart disease.

Annie
I'll look at the recipe sight a lwhen I have time.

Mel
What's up girl, miss you.

Shad 09-01-2010 06:25 PM

Morning all,
Had an e-mail from Mel last night. Didn't get a great deal of time to do much with it, but she is on the road to recovery. She will be back but doesn't want to be a Debby Downer (whatever that might be)

Michelle - lazy in a lounge chair sounds just fine to me. I think I might take it a little easier this weekend since the hired help won't be there and DS2 is going away on Sunday for an all day hike in the mountains somewhere. I just have a couple of things I must do.

Annie - sounds like a plan - down at the the lake, sitting on the dock watching the world go by. "Sitting on the dock of the bay, watching the tide roll away,..Sitting on the dock of the bay, wastin time.
Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' come
Watching the ships roll in
And then I watch 'em roll away again, yeah - ok Otis enough already

Gotta make the most of the last of summer.

Ceejay - so no holiday weekend for you. Well join the club. I missed a couple of public holidays while I went bush but that's okay. It's nice out there. I have managed so far to miss out on the BP meds. My Mum and Dad both took them. I put it down to exercise keeping it down. I have to go back to the doc this weekend and I don't know what the story will be this time as I have managed to gain some more weight and not exercise. Well praise be, does one go hand in hand with the other?

Happy - contracts - well this one anyway don't appear to be as structured as they once were. This one is well past it's sell by date.
So what did you get for dinner last night?

Laura - still going good with the exercise I see. I have my stuff for the gym tonight and will start my 4 days at the gym. I am still walking to work every morning from the far railway station. So for 5 days I do at least a mile before starting work and then for 4 nights I go to the gym. It isn't showing up on the scale yet and certainly isn't showing up in my body. But it is early days yet.

I'd better get along and see if I can fight with the system for another day. I have a few things to get done and some hard planning to do for some new doco, but then again I have 4 weeks to do it in. Bah humbug

annie175 09-02-2010 09:41 AM

Mornin' Happy Friday (to me) hehe...well, and Shaddie

Shaddie...love that song. Now it is in my head being removed from my mouth...now I know what all these tomatos being thrown at me are for. lol Thanks for the update on our Mellie...Debbie Downer is a character on Saturday night live, I believe. She finds the down side, bummed out side of every situation....

MELLIE....perk up, wake up, wake up, it's a wonderful day in the neighborhood!! Love, Mrs. Rogers...lol Loves and special hugs to you, my friend.

Ceejay....nuttin like mechanical probs to get you going in the morning. Sorry you have to work on Labor Day...I will drink and extra adult beverage in your honor!!

Chelle...hope you are feeling better in the back and TAKING is easy peasy, girl. How about 2:00 pm EST on Sunday in the hammock we toast to rest and relaxation. It can be tea or anything your heart desires...you all may join us!!

Laura...jump in on the toast, even if it is from the lazy boy or the couch!!

Happy....hello sista, and how's things? Is this the last weekend of NAKED NIGHT swimming? haha

Nadda lot going on here. Worked last night at CVS....ended up in the milk cooler stocking milk last night. You would not believe how fast CVS sells milk. My fingers were frozen when I came outta there. Took like 30 minutes to stock when it is normally a 10 minute job.

Still looking forward to getting away this weekend. Actually I am kinda excited. We have a family meeting tomorrow at 4:00 pm at the PT for dad to find out how well he is progressing and how much longer he needs to be in PT.

That's about it for me, I will probably be back later as I am full of CHIT today.

Mucho love, and lots of hugs,

annie175 09-02-2010 09:43 AM

Oh BTW...had a voice mail from Leanne, she is now down 10 lbs. She didn't say about her hubby.

annie175 09-02-2010 09:43 AM

PORTION control, Ms Chelle....

annie175 09-02-2010 10:27 AM

Leanne tries to keep her carbs at around 10 a day, her hubby is 5, which I think is too low, but if it works for him. He is down 16 lbs

diyana 09-02-2010 10:44 AM

Happy nearly long weekend!!

Took Doppler to the eye doctor yesterday. He's a good candidate for cataract surgery, and he'll have that done on 9/9. I really like the doctor and so does Doppler! :)

I'm just 4 hours away from my shot. I'm hoping it will help, although the nurse who called me yesterday warned me that it may not last more than a week or so and I may need a series of 2 or 3 shots two weeks apart. Ugh. I'm still hoping this will be a 1 and done.

Even though I've been eating OP, I was up a few pounds yesterday at my weekly weigh in which startled me. But today, I found out why. After not visiting me for a couple months...Auntie Flo has arrived. I know that if I keep on keeping on and stay on track, the weight will come off just as it has for Annie's friends.

Shad - I'm glad you heard from Mel and that she is on the road to recovery. Debbie Downer is a Saturday Night Live character and is the person in the crowd who always says depressing things. Something I know Ms. Mellie could NEVER be. Thanks for quoting the Otis Redding song....I'm more relaxed already. I hope your doc appt goes well this weekend. Good for you for getting all that walking and gym visits in!!

Mel - We love you and miss you, girlfriend. You're not, and could never be, Debbie Downer.

Annie - Wish I could be going to the lake with you. It sounds lovely!! I'm not feeling better in the back yet, but hopefully come tomorrow (and next week) I will be. :crossed: That's great about Leanne! It's really giving me hope. And thanks for the tip about Carbs. I am staying OP and watching my portions. I hope the few lbs I gained can be chalked up to TOM. I know that the steroid injection will cause temporary water retention and maybe a little weight gain...but the ability to exercise next week (hopefully) will take care of that. Small portions of healthy food. That's my motto! 2pm EST Sunday for "group" lounging and a toast? I'll be there...as long as I'm not in the fishing boat, in which case I'll toast you from there.

Laura - I'm sure you're enjoying your long weekend!

Ceejay - I hope you get to relax on a lounge chair some this weekend. Labor Day weekend is to honor those of us all who work hard with a little R&R, so I hope you get to enjoy the weekend even if you don't get Monday off.

Love and hugs to all,

diyana 09-02-2010 12:14 PM

I'm snarfing down a turkey unwich (no bread) with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and avocado for lunch. Carrots and a dill pickle spear on the side. Water to drink. Have to leave in 45 min. for the shot. I can't tell if I'm getting nervous or just anxiously eager - hoping the shot will help.

annie175 09-02-2010 01:41 PM

Chelle...good luck with the shot. Probably a little of both anxiety eager and nervous...I hope it works for you in the best way. The unwich you described sounds like what I get from Jimmy Johns. THe #6 veggie unwich. YUM YUM and it is so filling. Rock on sista.

ceejay52 09-02-2010 05:16 PM

There's not much happening here except it's much cooler with the low humidity.

This day has gotten away from me. The only productive thing I've done is go to Walmart. ooops forgot to pay the rent--i'll do that tomorrow.
Last night I ate a heavy dinner and it showed up ten minutes later. I was in agony the whole night. Didn't really go away until this morning. It was like my stomach stopped doing it's thing. Guess that's what I get for going off plan.
Weigh in this morning at 194. I'm pleased with that number even though it is still to high.

Michelle
Hope the injection does what it's supposed to. Be sure to enjoy that lounge chair.

Annie
Have fun at the lake this week end. You truely deserve some down time.
That does sound a bit low on the carbs. My doctor told me to cut down on my starches.

Shad
Good luck at the doctor's office tomorrow. I really do think that exercise is a good thing. I'm going to try hard to get my good cholesterol up by exercising.

laura
What are you doing this week end?

Happy
Did you take a trip up north?

mel
Feel better soon, we miss you.

Laura705 09-02-2010 10:23 PM

Hello everyone.

Ceejay - I didn't have many firm plans going into the weekend, but now it's filled up. Saturday we're going to a fest, and Sunday we're going to bf's brother's house. Yup, after a talk w/ the dufus brother yesterday, bf has decided it's time to bury the hatchet. I'm not thrilled, but I'll go along with it. Monday's still open. Sorry you have to work on the holiday, but the overtime sounds good. :)

Shad - That's a great amount of exercise! If you keep to it I'm sure you'll see changes before too long.

Annie - Hope you enjoy your time away. How did the family meeting re your dad's PT go?

Michelle - Hope the injection will bring you some relief and get you back to some exercise. Glad Doppler's surgery is a go.

Mel - Can't imagine you being a Debbie Downer!! Nope. Take care of yourself and come back soon!!

Happy - Any special weekend plans?

Yesterday after work I didn't do much of anything - just a short dog walk, some reading, went through Mt. Mail. Dinner at a wing place, so you know it wasn't light and healthy. Today's food was also not good - a lot of snacking.

Today was more productive than I thought it might be. No exercise though. I finished going through the mail in the morning. I was unhappy to see that the mortgage escrow adjustment (higher, of course) went through with this month's payment. That finally made me send in the form electing to do away with the escrow - I'd gotten it back in March and dithered over it for months even though there's no convincing reason to keep letting the bank control it the escrow account. Wonder how long it'll take the bank to close the account and send me my money.

I did some errands - bank, library, post office. Bf and I took doggy to the vet for his nail and gland maintenance. Spent a couple hours on my sewing project. Watching some tv at the moment. It rained a lot this afternoon, and now it's raining again. Perfect time to get into my pjs and start one of my library books.

Tomorrow's the foot doc. Dang, meant to give myself a pedicure. Maybe tomorrow morning.

Okay, off to get ready for bed. Nighty night. :)

happy2bme 09-02-2010 10:59 PM

Hi all, sorry I didn't get here earlier. A friend called for lunch and it had been such a long time and much to catch up on so off I went...

Laura - hope things work out with the BF and his brother. Relationships should be repaired if possible. But alot of times it's a parasitic relationship. Hope that's not the case. Enjoy your festival. I always hated to see Labor Day roll around because that meant summer was over. But you get those gorgeous Indian Summers so enjoy the whole weekend if you can. Better to pay your own taxes and insurance instead of letting the mortgage company hold your money and screwing things up.

I don't have any special plans outside of pick a project to help DH with. Wash my car once and for all and start to prep for the upcoming vacation. We would rather take DH's sedan as it's more comfortable - that means less room to pack junk! The end of the month we are going up in the northwoods of Wisconsin up up up where it's 41 at night already Brrrrrr. Will also swing through Chicago but only for 1 day to rest as we are not trying the 14 hour drive in one shot. Not even sure how I'll handle 8 and 7 with a day in between. We are going to a cabin on a lake - gotta bring some stuff in with us like towels and lately, I think I want to bring my own bedding. Hoping to catch some nice fall color though.

Ceejay - don't you immediately crave carbs (even if they make you feel icky) the minute the doctor says to cut back? I've been eating off plan = know exactly what you mean about the plumbing resisting. Bummer that you have to work on Monday :(

Annie - hope you have a very, very nice 4 day weekend and do lots of fun things. It's been way too long and you deserve some down time. Hope Dad is doing well. No Annie - no naked swimming. By the time the neighbors moved out and it was safe, the water was too cold. It's really chilly now though I hope to maybe get one more SUNNY clothed swim in this weekend before we close the pool down ;)

Michelle - you rest that back now. I hope the shot helps you out. The only thing I want to hear from you on Tuesday is all the things you read over the weekend  Feel better kiddo. Thanks for explaining Debbie Downer - I knew of the term but didn't know that comes from SNL. Don't worry about the weight - it will come off in time.

Shad - maybe you don't get the 3 day weekend we do but at least it's 2 days away from the funny farm. I turned my calendar today and I have the most gorgeous picture of Christchurch - lovely spring colors. How different to see pastels on a calendar in September :dizzy: Good for you for getting back on the exercise wheel again. I need to follow you in :)

Mel - sending you love and hugs. You are not a Debbie Downer. Hope some much needed cash shows up and the G-men leave you and Jen alone. Sending some love you way

I'm really tired. Going to hit the sack early. It's getting cooler out and that is turning up the snoring volume for both of us. Don't think we're sleeping as soundly as we can be. Good night all...

Shad 09-03-2010 12:31 AM

It's Friday - hooray. Time for some serious downtime. DS2 will be away for much of the weekend so it will only be Sunday and Me. Well Sunday anyway since I am the slave and must do as instructed.

Hair cut (well overdue) on Sunday. I'll probably lose a couple of kilo between going to the salon and coming home. There's an awful lot of hair there.

A man rung me this morning to talk about the problems I had with the computer system while out in the bush. Hello - it takes a month for my emails to get through??? No wonder I thought it was slow out there!!!
He thanks me for sending the information. It's the only way that problems become known and fixed. Ummm Am I the only one that has complained about the speed out there. Don't think so!!!! He's only taking notice because the man who may or may not be my new manager asked me to send him information because in a phone hook up meeting, I described the system out there as crap.

Don't know about Mel being a Debbie Downer, but I certainly am about this job at the moment. It is not impressing me one bit. Still it is Friday and there is nothing anyone can do about that - thank goodness.

Better go and finish off this document. It's the last big one. I have only a couple of small documents to go before I completely run out of work. Time was when I had too much to do. Now I sneak out early because I'm worried I might run out.

See you all over the weekend.

Shad - I have noticed a trend - when you are stuck in an office in the city your work is much less satisfying. When you are out in the field it is very hectic, things are disorganized chaos and you are running right up to the last minute to pull off the doco and training. Tiring but you get the job done. Office jobs are not your friend :) Have I told you I am jealous that you have so much hair to cut off? Send some over, I will weave a nice wiglet. So what if we have completely different hair colors?

I am glad it is Friday. Still tired although I went to bed 2 hours early last night. I think the overhead fan bothers me and DH insists on keeping it on - says it gets too hot. I say well turn the air conditioning temps down instead.

The lawn treatment people did a fine job of actually killing our lawn. So today there are laborers out laying new sod. I say new gently as the stuff on the pallets is rather dried out and looks half dead to me. DH says that's ok, if it doesn't take they will be out here doing it again. At least this gives us 2 good solid weeks of watering it before we head out on vacation.

Not much else going on. We get out early today - care to join me in a :yay:

Hope you can get home quickly and rest that back Michelle. Sounds like the poor thing has been traumatized. I know I dreaded the cortizone shot in the foot - I'm not sure being shot with a gun would have hurt any less.

On with the day - happy Friday to all - to those already off and running, enjoy your long weekend.

 to Mel

Happy Friday!!!

I'm going to do personals before I chat about my back.

Shad - I hope Sunday lets you have a relaxing weekend. Thanks for sending Friday our way. You're not a Debbie Downer either, missy. We all have those days/weeks/months. I think I agree with Happy that you seem to enjoy being out in the field more.

Annie - Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing time at the lake. I relaxed yesterday and will again this afternoon, and tomorrow morning (and Sunday and Monday) we'll hopefully go fishing. How is your dad doing? What did the PT say?

Ceejay - Our bodies definitely let us know when we eat fattening, rich, heavy foods.

Laura - Glad bf and his brother have buried the hatchet. Hope you have a fun time at the fest and that the visit to the brother goes well. I hope Monday stays free and clear so you can enjoy some Laura-time. Good luck at the foot doc today.

Happy - Your trip to the WI northwoods sounds wonderful! Can you swing by and pick me up on your way? I hope you can make time this weekend to get a swim in (clothed or unclothed)! I will definitely be relaxing this weekend. As for "reading", I finished my audiobook of "Wicked" last night and started the audiobook of "Eclipse" and will follow it up with "Breaking Dawn" (both from the Twilight Series). I've been wanting to re-read the books for awhile...but right now, it's easier to just put on my headphones, lie down, relax and listen. OMG! The lawn treatment people killed your lawn? That's awful! We don't use a lawn service because DH prefers to do it himself. He uses weed and feed in the front, and just fertilizer in the back (as weed killer can be harmful to doggies that play on, roll on and occasionally nibble on the grass). We get to leave early today too! I'm leaving at 11 to pick up the doggies at the groomers.

Mel - I'm thinking about you lots and hoping you, Jen and Richie are doing okay. Lots of love and hugs to you my friend.

Love,

Morning
not much going on today. It's cool outside this morning so I may get out and do some yard work. It's suppose to be this way for the rest of the week end. To bad I have to work Monday.
had a dream early this morning that I enjoyed and didn't want to wake up. I did get up to go to the bathroom and right back to bed and asleep and back into the dream. Even saw my grandpa who for some reason was sitting in a wheel chair. My grandmother was in the wheel chair. I was dreaming about my newest great neice so i suppose it's time for me to go see her. She was 4 months old yesterday.

need to run some errands this morning.

Laura705 09-03-2010 05:24 PM

Hi everyone.

Happy - A cabin in northern WI sounds nice and quiet. Hope the new sod takes. We stopped our weed service this year, or rather bf cancelled it. Of course the weeds took over because he didn't do any diy weed control to replace it. So now we're starting the service again.

Michelle - Enjoy your audiobooks this weekend! I have three books from the library to choose from.

Shad - How much of your final month is left on this assignment? Just wondering how much thumb twiddling there will be... Hope you're enjoying your weekend w/ two Sundays, lol.

Ceejay - Did you do any gardening? It's really cool here today - mid 60's. I harvested some cherry tomatoes and pulled a few giant weeds, but that was it. We had a lot of rain yesterday so I don't want to do much with the soil while it's so wet. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Hellos to Mel and Annie!!!

This morning I did a cardio dvd from the library. It was Cardioblast - a Tamilee Webb Tighter Assets workout. It was alright - got my heart pumping and sweat flowing. But it took up a good amount of floor space, and I didn't like it quite as much as the Firm's Cardio Party dvd. I also have a stretch dvd and another cardio dvd to try. The latter is a bellydancing workout, LOL. I'll be down in the basement wearing a sport bra for that one, ha ha.

My doctor visit went well. This guy just seems so much more interested in helping me than the previous doc. I had an xray which showed a heel spur and an ultrasound which revealed that my plantar fascia was inflamed at .7%, which is higher than the average inflammation of .4%. I ended up getting an injection in my foot to reduce the inflammation - it had vit. b12 (I think or was it b6?), a steroid, and one other chemical. I was told I have a high pain tolerance - while I was getting the shot the doc and the nurse kept asking if I was okay and I just kept responding "how much longer?" :D But at one point I did say "ouch" because it was rather painful. So my foot is feeling sore from that, so I let bf take doggy for his walk just now. Hopefully in a day or two I'll be feeling relief from this inflammation. We talked a bit about my orthotics, but I'm going back in a week, so we'll talk more specifics then.

I think bf is running a work errand and then will stop by our friend's for a little b-day celebration. Not sure I'll go with as it involves a lot of driving, and I don't care to be in traffic on Friday of Labor day weekend. I might get back to my sewing project or just read a book or watch tv.

Have a good weekend everyone. :)

Yes, infact, I spent the entire afternoon outside. I'm outta shape for the physical activity which lawn mowing requires but it's now done and I'm more pleased than when the other person does it. I don't think he'll be doing it anymore this year and I'm not hiring him next year. I weed eat, trim the bushes and blow off the side walks and drive way. plus I got the added bonus of getting natural vitamin d.
I'm off to the shower.
i feel for you with the foot problems. Since the right foot surgery was done my left foot seem's to not bother me as bad. Ask him about diabetic orthotics. That's what my podiatrist gave me and talk about comfortable.
The podiatrist and his nurse had to hold my foot down and especially if he hit that heel spur.

Hiya all,
Short post since I am running around like a chook with it's head cut off trying to find the whereabouts of all my family and friends in Canterbury NZ which suffered a 7.1 earthquake (massive) this morning. I have located all but one cousin and her family whose houses are very close to the epicentre. We think her wee town has been evacuated but can't get much in the way of news as yet. All other cousins seem to be okay and are promising to get in touch if any news comes in.

So spare a thought for a city which is suffering aftershocks every 15 minutes or so and who are waiting for news from loved ones. I understand the whole of the CBD has been closed off to prevent looting as all the shop windows have been broken and there is glass everywhere. Chimneys have falled into and across houses. At one service station, the underground tank has been thrown up out of the ground and believe it or not is NOT leaking petrol. And the water, power, sewerage and phone lines are out in a wide area.

I'll be back for personals later.

ceejay52 09-04-2010 07:22 AM

Shad
I thought about you when I heard of the earth quake. Glad you found most of the family.

diyana 09-04-2010 10:59 AM

Hi ladies -

Happy Saturday. Okay, so as promised here's what happened with my back. The shots were pretty darn painful (but only for a few moments). That evening after the numbing agent wore off, the injection site was extremely painful, making it difficult to get comfortable or sleep. Yesterday morning, it was still quite painful, but I managed to work for 1/2 day until the office closed for the holiday weekend. Last night and today, it's better...about where I was prior to the shot. The doc said it would take 3 days to 2 weeks to get full effect of the shot, and it is quite likely that I'll need another shot in 2 weeks, so I scheduled it for 9/17 so I should be over the injection site pain by the time DH and I go away for a 4 day weekend on 9/23.

I'm really taking it easy this weekend. I got a little bit if website work done this morning, but I'm going to have to back downstairs and lay down. I've got the work clothes in the dryer, and will ask DH to bring it upstairs and hang them up.

It's really chilly this morning. Hopefully it will warm up and the wind will die down so we can go fishing at around 11 am or noon for the rest of the afternoon.

That's the same game plan for the rest of the weekend. A little website work (as much as my back will allow), a bit of fishing and lots of relaxing.

Ceejay - Sounds like a really nice dream about your grandparents and your great niece. Good for you for spending so much outside time.

Laura - I hope the foot is feeling better now. Wow, a heel spur and inflammed plantar fascia...no wonder your foot was hurting.

Shad - I hope all the family and friends are okay after the big quake in Canterbury. That is a massive quake. to you and prayers.

A big  to all!

Love and hugs,

Laura705 09-04-2010 11:07 AM

Shad - I hope you've accounted for the missing cousin & family. Very scary time for them.

Ceejay - Sound like it's better to do the lawn work yourself until you can find someone who does a good job. And it's good exercise. Too bad the weather can often make it such a miserable job.

I had a quiet night last night, but ended up watching several episodes of "Say Yes to the the Dress" about wedding dress shoppers. Yeh, I'm scratching my head too. Finally shut off the tv and started my library book.

This morning I did a BE workout and am on the 2nd load of laundry. Very cool here - 59 and rather windy too. I'll be wearing jeans today and taking along a jacket for sure. High is supposed to be 69. Nice change, and we'll be back in the 70's and 80's tomorrow.

Laura705 09-04-2010 11:12 AM

Michelle - You're the sneaker inner. :D Hope the shot starts to take effect soon and you get some relief. I bet you're not looking forward to that 2nd injection. Glad you're taking it easy this weekend.

Yeh, the gusty wind is not ideal - I hope it dies down so you can go fishing. Bf and I are going to a fest w/ another couple this afternoon, but we won't be as out in the open like you would be in a boat.

Okay, time to get myself changed and eat some breakfast.
