AUNTY ~ well, it was nice on Friday; and Saturday wasn't too bad -- but every since then, it has been scorching

... up into the 90's even. Thank goodness that we have some clouds and a breeze or it would be unbearable. Gee, we have never seen such

temps up here like this year; and hope we don't again for some time to come. Some people seem to like it, but anything in the high 80's or 90's is too much for me these days. I am drinking lots of water ...
Sounds like you need sunflowers with a short season variable; some folks around here have some nice ones with all the heat and sun we've been having. I used to grow them when we lived in the country. I may scout out some short season varieties and grow some next year too. They are quite showy too. I think some nice yellow ones, and maybe even some of the orange & brown ones would like nice here too.
The

has been wreaking havoc with my plants but I am winning the battle, I think. I picked another basket of green beans yesterday and hope the rest are ready before the frost shows up here. They are along the west side of our house, so I am hoping that they will be sheltered a little bit.
DH watered the garden early this AM before we left to go shopping and run a few errands to protect them. I will put the hose out again after dinner as I am trying to bribe those bean plants with lots of water. So far, it seems to be working well.
STELLA is on her honeymoon in CUBA as we speak; or at least on her way. Hope they have a great time ...
