:hug:Hey Tymaboy, Well, since you typed a message, I assume you are alive after your first venture out alone on the bike. I know it was scarey..... but it sounds like you did awesome. I can't really give you advise on the dentist visit, b/c I feel guilty when I spend money like that on me too.
Colleen, how are you? Holly, I am glad it is slowing down so you can take a couple days off. Reda, how were the stores when you got back from vacation? I appreciate everyone being supportive of my decision soooo much! I really feel in my heart I can do the job and do a good job at it. Thanks so much! I am now working on the push ups and sit ups, as well as the running. As soon as I make it through the application process they will tell me exactly what I need to do. I have googled the Arkansas state guidelines, but they are for troopers....... so I am going by the book I got. We will see. Regardless, I am going to work my butt off to get there. My DH is off the diet wagon.... he gained 20 pounds in less than a month..... so he is almost to his starting weight. I have thrown a rope to him all I can.... he has to "want to", and right now, it does not seem he wants it bad enough. So, I will support him as much as I can without preaching and maybe he will find his "niche" again. Hope you all are well. Tammy |
Couldn't get on here
I have decided to not go to the WW meetings, but to go it alone. I've been doing good. I'm setting a 2# goal each week, and resetting another 2# even if I lost more. Still not getting much exercise in, but have still been walking to the hospital and back for lunch and visits with gram. Bet the gals at Subway miss me! I miss the cookies!
Reda, I was stuck, unable to get on the website too. I could read, but not post. ??? Better now. Good luck to DS in the races! Dawn, will the dentist take payments? Some will work with you if you ask. Just an idea. I had a tooth a while back that they wanted to root canal and cap. The price was not too bad UNTIL I got to the appt. for the root canal--it did not include the price of the cap. Ticked me off that I wasn't given the whole price, and I had it pulled! Never been sorry either. Tammy, I think law is great! Go for it! It's good that you have an idea in your head that YOU want to accomplish. I feel so wishy-washy sometimes...I just do what DH wants to do, and go with the flow on everything. Holly, of course I live out of the hamper--everything I wear, I don't have to fold right! It's not too bad with just the 2 of us. Once in a while I let it slide though! When my kids were little it was easier to BUY socks than to match socks! I don't miss that! Wonderful diet snack: Cherry FF yogurt, FF Redi-whip, and sugar free chocolate syrup. Looks sinful, but isn't. Off to watch Americas Got Talent. I admire most all of them at this point in the season! |
Tammy, sure hope your pup goes through her surgery without any trouble! Sorry to hear of her troubles. Best wishes to her!
DD got horrible news the other day at work. Now unemployed, and waiting patiently for a call back after her second interview at a bank. As with most of us, losing a job will be devastating, not only emotionally, but will soon put them in financial ruin if she doesn't find work quick. She is a go getter. Hope everyone is having a good week--we're on the down hill slide to the weekend! Be good. :p |
How is everyone doing? DS had his wisdom teeth done Friday morning. It was not a fun day. He was in a lot of pain & I had to call them up cuz the 2 pain meds that he was given didnt seem to do anything. They told me to double it. I didnt want to give him that much so I cut the 2nd pill in half. Now I think he isnt feeling so hot due to all the meds he has taken & barley eaten anything. He was hungry for some Chinese noodles yesterday but even those hurt to eat so he has been sticking to pudding, jello & ice cream. He can only drink water cuz anything else seems to burn. Tomorow should be an interesting day since he has to go back to school.

Dental work is for sure no fun. Hope your DS gets to feeling better soon. My DH had lots of dental work done early this year--he was a trooper, and did well! Seems that I always end up with dry sockets.
Today has been a bad diet day. Finshed it off with a piece of cheesecake. (made with low fat milk, but 1 1/2 sticks of butter!!) Back on plan tomorrow. Hope the weekend has been good to all you gals. Later-- |
Hi girls- been slow on here but hey I know it is summer and who the heck has time to be on the computer.....
Well we went out of town this weekend actually went to Worthington MN for the Nationals, my oldest son won last year but this year not so well the tierod broke the first night then last night for the Big Show he finished 8th so not bad but 1st would have been better :) Youngest son got his car finished and took it out as well - he didn't do so bad considering first time in a race car - he did request to be in the back which was good because he managed to spin out a few times and this way he didn't take anyone out with him so that is a great plus as well :) Tymaboy sorry to hear about DS wisdom teeth pulling not going to so well hope he is feeling better today for school Colleen all is good tomorrow is another day and just get right back on the wagon Hi Tammy and Holly? Holly your big weekend is coming up are you all ready to go? Tammy have you made a decision on what you are going to do about the job thing? Well today was a MONDAY notice the caps it was a difficult-busy day but tomorrow is going to be a much better day I know :) |
rainy day
Reda, glad to see you post--it has been slow posting on the board! Haven't heard from Tammy and Holly for a week! It's good that your sons are okay after the races--too bad they didn't come in as close to 1st as they would have liked to!
Tymaboy, DS feeling good enough for school today? This morning I wouldn't have minded staying in bed! Maybe for the whole day! I went to bed before 10, and could barely get myself motivated to move and get to work by 8! I'm feeling okay--just sleepy! After work I plan to get tome trailer parts we ordered. The back jack is bent on our camper. Need to replace before camping this weekend. Camping will be a whole new callange to weight loss. When we camp EVERYTHING revolves around food. Good food...not carrot sticks and celery! Hope you are all doing well. |
hello!!! I can't believe I let so much time go by without saying hi.
tymaboy - congrats on being out for the first time by yourself!! and you did great  Hope your DH is doing okay after the wisdom teeth. As for the issue(s) about other dental work and the vacation money thing...that is like usually the biggest marriage argument isn't it, about money. I surely think that medical things should come first. I hope you get satisfaction in the matter :) Colleen - congrats on you doing the WW thing on your own! and yeah, boy doesn't camping revolve around yummy food!! Oh and sorry to hear of your daughter's bad news at work!! sure hope something comes up QUICKLY for her. It is scary how quickly finances get drained, we know that. Reda - congrats to your sons, sorry about the tierod breaking...and glad DS #2 didn't take anyone with him when he spun out a bit :dizzy: Tammy - how are you doing with the workout regimen for the job? WELL I have had dental problems of my own, sigh...I have had a cracked lower molar since late April, and stupidly put off having it looked at (in fact I have neglected my dental appts, haven't had a cleaning in a couple of *gasp* years...no good excuse) and that tooth started hurting Friday .... I took some ibuprofen...still some slight discomfort Saturday, but on Sunday afternoon evening, it started to hurt...by late Monday morning, OMG it felt like a hot stone embedded in my gum, that someone was pounding in with a hammer. I found a dentist in town that afternoon but couldn't get an appt. til today at 3:30 pm...girls, last night was the worst in my life...my face hurt so much, almost even to my ear, and that hot throbbing...I lost track of how many ibuprofens I was taking ( then I counted out the tablets today - I took almost 30 since Sunday, bad!) And any pain at night always seems worse, doesn't it. Well sometime between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., it suddenly stopped throbbing. I was ecstatic!!! When you are suddenly free from pain..it is just amazing. Still very sore but not throbbing. So I went to work, and it did start up again late morning but by then I could leave early and just went home, put on the A/C and slept for an hour. Then it was time for my appt. Had tons of x-rays done, and the dentist is very nice; I know that I am in for some major $$$ because I also need a couple of crowns that I never had done after root canals (because of lack of money). But this was the kick in the mouth I needed to get me straight back on the track of paying attention to my teeth, I want to keep as many as I can for as long as I can :D so I have a prescription for antibiotics for the infection, and Vicodin, which I've never taken before. I thought maybe the Vic's would be expensive?? but 16 was only $8.99. Oh and they take BP, I was pleased that even though kinda nervous I was 115/75. I feel SO much better already, I went for a quick ride to town to get milk, it was almost 7:30 pm and getting dusky but still a balmy 77 degrees, I just work a tank no jacket and that felt so good. OH Reda, did you know that we aren't going to Chilli?? :( because DH could not get away from work. I am bummed but trying to be grown-up about it :tantrum: THANKS for listening chicks :) |
OMG glad I got all my dental out of the way back in May before I switched jobs - thank goodness nothing to major for me and keeping it that way:)
Seriously sounds like way to much pain- Holly did you have to have a tooth pulled or just filled? Colleen camping is hard on the diet - I usually blow it with chips and of course the beer that gets drank :) Can't wait for this weekend we are going to river cabin as well and having bean bag tourney and grilling ribs with a few refreshments Holly I did not know that you guys weren't going to Chili I would be throwing a :tantrum: actually a huge :tantrum: a few of us were actually throwing around going but then decided that we would rather just hang out at the river :) Ok girls I better get off here and get some dishes done - yippee but noone else seems to have arms to do them :( TTYL |
DS is doing better tonite. He stayed home from school. He was not taking in enough calories for the amount of meds he was taking. I felt like I was force feeding him today. I made oat meal, omlit & had him eat the left over mac & cheese that the daycare kids didnt eat. My neighbor went out & grabed some powerade & Gatorade for him. I had to get calories in him cuz he still hurts & the dentist office said to give him ibuprofin(800) & aleve together then afew hours later have him take Tylonal. So he is still on a lot. He is going to go to school tomorow. My dental has been put on hold till the new yr.
I have taken the bike out a couple more times on my own. The one time I had to run 2 lites cuz they did not see the bike. DH bought some magnets for it. From what I understand the traffic lite triggers is a magnet so I am hoping that it works. When 2 of ride together we have only ran into 1 lite that did not see us. The more I ride it & get better at shiffting my milage keeps getting better (highway driving probably helps too) Tonite I got almost 60 mpg. I have been working on my corners & curvey roads. My right hand turns still need work but I am doing better on curves. My rides have been my savor the last few days. Between stressing & worring about DS & DH not really thinking (except maybe about him) the ride have been what has kept me from loosing it. DH & I will be camping this weekend as well. We need to do our shopping for the weekend yet. I usually do not pay attention to the diet when we go camping, I find it works for me. I just dont eat alot of everything but enough to enjoy myself. I did weigh myself this morning - 139! I dont expect to stay there since the few lb loss has been due to stress. |
Fall?
It feels like Fall. I love it--cooler, breezy and overcast! Perfect camping weather in my opinion. (others tend to disagree!) I love sitting 'round the campfire when it's cool out. I'm ready to go, as soon as work is over! DS is worried that with all the rain we've had he won't be able to get the trailer backed in, up the hill, and through the grass along a fence, where we are supposed to be camping. Hope so. If not--I guess we'll be camping without the camper!
Holly, hope your dental work pain improves fast! That is some of the worst pain out there! Ranks right up there with headaches, labor and kidney stones! Tymaboy, sounds like you're getting the hang of the cycle riding without any problem! Good for you! Our last ride made me really nervous. It was dusk, DH was really doing some stupid stuff--like riding with no hands (I freak when he does that!), friends in front of us came inches from hitting a deer, dogs in the road, car on our side of the road, DH crossing the center on corners--I was NOT enjoying my ride! THAT'S when I miss driving my own bike! I miss not having control. Hi Reda and Tammy. Hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend! |
Ah so glad this week is almost done. DH & I are going camping as well. DS will stay home by himself for the 1st time. I think our grocery shopping ended up being more then if he would have went too. I didnt want to take the chance of him running out of food while we were gone. I am debating on if I should take something more then just a sweatshirt for at nite while camping. I hope the kids get picked up earlier then I think they will. We want to leave as soon as possible. Wonder what we will forget this time?
I had my 1st run in with a dog the other nite on the bike. We were on a country road with farms & a dog decided he want to crosss the road to barn house. Good thing I saw him a head of time cuz he crossed right as I was getting there. |
Hey Ladies,
I finally had time to sit and post. Well, I guess I am the only one not going camping? Lol. Tymaboy, sorry your son was in so much pain. I hope he is getting better now. It sounds like you are doing really well with the bike. I didn't know that about the lights and the magnet. Where do you put it? I have been riding for 3+ years and I still am not crazy about right turns sometimes. Colleen, I am glad you are doing so well on WW at home. It is hard to diet and camp but maybe if you cannot stick to plan all the way, just maintain until you can get back on it. That is what I "try" to do. Reda, glad your son's did so well during the races. How is your job doing? Holly, Gosh, I feel your pain with the dental work being neglected. I need to go have a cleaning..... it just seems easier to put it off. I hope you stay pain free. Well ladies, my dog is better. She does NOT have cancer. We got a good scare b/c they had to send her tumor off for a 2nd test, but it came back good. As far as the career change, I did fill out a couple applications for a jail, but I have my sights on a police job in Jonesboro. They are hiring 10 new people. The testing will start November 6th. I have the running down, I just need to work on my man push ups still. I don't know why they are so dang hard for me. I can do the female ones (properly) with no problem. Just the male ones. However, I am not quitting. I have a lot of law enforcement people willing to write me letters of recommendation, but I have to get past the testing part first. They do the physical test the morning of 11/6; if you pass that you go onto the written test; from there I think they do the backgrounds, then they do the interview and other stuff. I am not sure about the order of it. The guy that stands next to me in bootcamp used to be a deputy and he thinks they will have their eye on me b/c of my stature and I am a female. Apparently they have a harder time finding females. So, y'all keep your fingers crossed. The only part I am really worried about is me taking an anti-depressant (non-narcotic), but most people tell me that it is not a problem. If it is..... I will get off of it and test again later. I really want to do this! So..... that is where my focus is now. It was soooo pretty here today. We rode a little this afternoon. I love this "pre" fall weather. I cannot tell you how much. I hope it is not a week before I check in again. Hope y'all have a save Labor Day. Tammy |
Hello!!!
Tammy - VERY glad your lady dog does not have cancer...what a relief. I know you'll ACE the physical test when it comes..you seem to be a very determined lady :D to me, I am sure you will train your butt off and do well. About the anitdepressent...gosh so many people have to take them, I would hope that would not be an issue. Colleen - yikes to that ride, where it sounded pretty risky! Did you get the camper backed up to where you needed to? Hope you're having a good time camping Tymaboy - hope you didn't forget anything :D Hi Reda!! well you will not believe the stupid thing I did. I did NOT position my bke correctly while parked...AND IT FELL OVER ONTO MY FRIENDS BIKE, AND HER BIKE FELL ON TO A PARKED CAR. Just like what happened to me back in June!! I felt awful. At least we weren't sitting on our bikes. The car door got scratched up big time so of course I reported it to my ins. co. My friend's bike's mirror got knocked loose, and she hasn't told me of any other damage yet. My mirrors also loosened but...a BIG scratch across my NEW windshield. Oh well!!! I will be EXTRA careful parking my bike!! I haven't worked out in a week!! it's been so hot. But it's cool now..but I ave to get ready for work. Hopefully this afternoon. take care!! |
Holly, thanks for the compliment. I am going in this with all I have.
I am sooooo sorry you had an accident with your bike and parking. Just be thankful it was not an more serious than it was. We ALL do things like that. I am glad you are not hurt. |
