Trying to catch up on past posts. Random comments as I look through the thread...
Michelle - you headbanger you! Doing a little Ozfest on the treddie are you? I'm not a big Sabbath fan but I can bet that some songs just give you the right oomph to push those sprints! I'm sorry that you're at a temporary (and remember it's temporary) bump on the weight loss but just stick with it. Sometimes I swear we pick up weight just because it's raining outside! I understand tho, I have to see continuous results in order to keep up the suffering of the wl program ;) Go and re-read that great poem you posted a few days back. I made a copy for myself to reference. Michelle - regarding the faint feeling - could be blood sugar or are you taking any vitamins or meds before you leave the house? If I take a vitamin on an empty stomach, I will get horridly nauseated and downright sick within 20 minutes. It's an awful feeling. Ceejay - I certainly HOPE you are not pulling 12 hour shifts on your 10 day work week. :faint: I think you need a weekend in the yurts! Shad - you are growing grapes too? I don't remember you talking about them. Sounds like a yummy breakfast. I'm loving fruit and yoghurt - with a few almonds or walnuts thrown in for crunch and Omega-3. Are you glad to get the loo finished up? Sounds like it's nice. I'm sorry to hear about the hearing aids. The cost more than anything. I was sure that my hearing had gone kaput. DH too. Had my hearing tested and the doc said it was fine. We just lose the ability to filter as we get older and therefore while we don't realize it actively, it's just the background noises interfering with our ability to filter in the tv or conversations and the like. He said he can no longer go to busy restaurants and hope to hear his wife across the table. I've noticed that too to the point I get very shy and quiet when dining out with a group - can barely hear the person next to me. All perfectly normal he said. When I mention this to other people my age, they agree - happens to them too. It's like you say - what good does it do to fret about it? At least you don't have to take meds with side effects and more meds to counter those effects. It's just yikes on the cost! Hope some work comes your way quickly to finance them. The rose is GORGEOUS by the way. Wish there was a way we could smell it too. I agree with you - I never cared for Healthy Choice dinners but they really have improved the taste and offerings. There's a tortilla crusted fish from Lean Cuisine that is one of my favorites. Big scare in the cafeteria today - they have a special guest chef today and tomorrow. He's cooking Mediteranean food. There was a chicken dish with lots of small dabs of this and that for dipping and tasting. It was a nice meal even if I didn't know half of what I was eating  I also know that Mediteranean is very healthful with lots of fresh veggies and whole grains so I knew it was not damaging even if I can't count the points. The scare part was that the southern folks down here are very apprehensive about eating much outside of what they know so they were peering at the counter with a look of fear as if they were roasting a whole yak on the grill :lol3: The deli section got lots of customers today :D Too bad as they missed a great meal. Or they could order the veggie plate with steamed cabbage, cooked (not fried) okra with tomatoes and some squash :barf: :barf: :barf: Annie - hb to the son - 21 at last! are you having pangs that your babies are growing up? You summer harvest sounds divine. I can just imagine how good the bounty tastes. I am amazed that you can cook the sweets and ignore them. I think you are spoiling the T-man. He may lose his taste for cereal yet :lol3: Thanks for the fried rice recipe. So easy - can add all kinds of stuff in. I might use that for left over grilled chicken. Chocolate covered bacon? Ewwww. I know sometimes sweet and salty go well - as in Kettle popcorn but ick. A big    on that one. Don't like the deep fried or chocolate covered stuff at the fairs. The only way I can even remotely imagine what it's like to be 6 feet tall is to climb on top of my credenza at work and take a look around. Boy does the world look different!!!! And the only way I will wear stillettos again - even if I do ever get skinny - is to sit on a chair and look at them with my leg in the air! Arthritis in the toes and the weight have made me part ways with any kind of heels ever again. I do miss my strappy dress shoes tho. Mel - I know it's no fun to be "surprised" when certain foods react badly with your system but I tend to agree that if you need a "push" I'd rather enjoy a piece of candy over a pill. DH told me years ago that pears - fresh or canned - will help in that dept. He was right. They are good with cinnamon sprinkled on them. :crossed: that everything goes ok with Jen. I HATE how they make you wait and wait for return calls - from the nurse, government or any service for that matter. Patty - I know what you mean about it being sad with some of your friends not getting taken along on the re-hire. I hope they can find something quickly. Laura - hope this is a better work week than last. And with that, I need to get back to work myself. I was actually able to drive all the way to work today without once cussing, gesturing or getting mad. It will be a real feat if I can maintain that on the trip home! |
Monday back at work after a busy weekend and I haven't caught up with all your posts, just skimmed the last page.
Annie - Sounds like a wonderful Friday and Saturday! Beats housecleaning! Ceejay - Good job finding someone new to mow the lawn - and do the extra yard stuff too. Happy birthday in advance. It's nice to have a vacation to look forward to. Happy - Welcome back from your vacation! I'm glad you liked the yurt, and glad you were able to enjoy the meteor showers. The peace and quite (well, mostly quiet except for that neighboring yurt) sounds just wonderful. Sorry the lodging your last couple days had some hitches. . Mel - Yay for $$. I agree when the humidity goes up and the air quality is poor, it's just best to stay indoors with the AC on... until you get stir crazy. Michelle - Sorry to hear the scale didn't reflect all your hard work. How frustrating! Agree with Shad to also pay attention to how your clothes fit. Hope your sore throat and fever aren't a sign a cold is on the way. Shad - Beautiful photos of the rose! Hope the painting in the loo goes quickly - how about keeping a fan going to clear the air? We finally bought a small fan for ours to supplement the exhaust fan in the summer. Good for when we get out f the shower and we're still too warm. Hope you enjoyed your trip to the hardware store/heaven. Patty - Congrats on the job, and to your folks on their 56th anniversary. Whew! The bf and I attended a 50th bday party on Saturday and a graduation party on Sunday. Not much "me time". I work today and tomorrow and then I'm taking vacation for the rest of this week and all of next. I'm so ready! Not going away anywhere until next week, and just for a few days. And no lodging or other arrangements are made yet, of course! |
Happy
So glad that you had a wonderful time on vacation, despite the noises. unfortunately it is 12 hour days. The boss has been good to me, and mainly all Im doing is sitting down. Annie I didn't realioze that she was in your home town till she called. It's 3 day's counting today. I'm hibernating this week end. Mel At least a couple of good things have come from the xanax. I'm setting myself a routine and am gettin g enough sleep. I'm feeling almost 90% better Hi to Laura, Patty and Michelle. I'm at work and the boss popped in to get a fan out of the electrical room. Said something about a man hole. It's a wonder these guy don't pass out from the smell or the heat. I've been doing some cleaning in spurts today. I've been taking b12 for energy and this seems to help also. I've done a whole lot better this go round. |
Happy Monday evening ladies -
Sorry I haven't been around. I caught a summer cold that kicked my arse! I went home from work Friday morning and have slept nearly non-stop through this evening. DH and I were supposed to go to an outdoor concert in Chicago tonight...but between the rainy weather down there tonight and the fact that we both are still kinda sick, we decided not to go. At least the tickets weren't that expensive. We figured it would be cheaper to not go than to get pneumonia from sitting outside in the rain. Happy - Glad you had a great vacay! Annie - Hope you're gonna have a relaxing evening after a long working weekend. Happy B'Day to your DS. A big  to everyone...I'm gonna eat some dinner and go back to bed. I'm hoping to have this cold kicked by tomorrow. Love and big hugs, |
ANNIE I AM STILL LAUGHING AT THE EASTER EGG HAIR   AND I FORGOT TO SAY :hb: TO THE DS!!!
HAPPY~ ARE YOU ALL CAUGHT UP NOW?? HOPE THE FIRST DAY BACK INTO THE RAT RACE WASN'T TOO BAD  LAURA~ A VACATION! YAY FOR YOU!! OPE YOU ENJOY ALL OF THE DAYS AND FINALLY SOME "ME" TIME YOU PARTY GIRL YOU! JEANETTE!SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK. I TOO DON'T KNOW HOW SOME OF THESE MEN CAN STAND THEIR JOBS IN THE HEAT....OR THE SMELLS. THE A/C MAN WAS DRENCHED WITH SWEAT FROM CHANGING ALL OUR FILTERS UP ON THE ROOF.:sunny: MICHELLE~ HOPE YOU AND DH GET WELL SOON  LAWD THERE IS NOTHING WORSE THAN BEING SICK IN THE SUMMER HEAT. :cofdate: I AM RUSHING TO GET DOWNSTAIRS, GET THE ANS. MACHINE DONE AND THE MAINT DEPT GOING AND THEN I AM COMING BACK. I WAS JUST DOWN THERE AND THE HEAT IS AWFUL ALREADY. WITH THE HALL A/C DOWN SO LOW, THE LOBBY FLOOR IS JUST TOO MUCH FOR ME WITH THE TEMPS IN THE 90'S. NOW THAT IS THE PRICE THEY PAY...... LOSING ME. YESTERDAY WAS BAD ENOUGH. HAPPY TUESDAY :moped: |
Good morning fine ladies,
I managed to keep the calm all day long yesterday but I had to work on it! It already feels like regular life is creeping in and vacation was a distant dream. Just before we left last week my Mom called and was upset that her new cell phone died and would not power on. I called support and they sent her a shell of a phone for replacement. I talked to her on vacation and she was upset it was just a shell and said it was all scratched up and junky. A real piece of :censored: My niece visited last weekend and lo and behold, nothing was wrong with the phone other than my Mom did not hold the power on button down long enough to get the thing to turn on - you have to press and hold it for a few seconds. And the replacement phone was not scratched up either - it had a protective skin that needed to be peeled off - with her bad eyes she could not see the skin. They are sending yet another replacement phone since they thought the problem was with the battery and could not find a replacement battery. Such fun! I had macaroni and cheese last night since we are really low on groceries. I just can't eat that junk any more. Felt bloated all last night and carried into today. I will have to send DH to the store although it looks like we will be getting some rain today which takes grilling out of the picture. Michelle - I hope you feel better. A summer cold is way more miserable than a winter one. Get extra rest and take care of yourself  If you can't handle hot tea with lemon in this weather, then maybe some fresh lemonade? Same goes for you Mel, this heat and humidity is draining. I'm glad you aren't trying to be superwoman to everyone in the building and sacrificing yourself. Tell them you only work from 7am to 8am otherwise they have to find 2 beefy guys to follow you around in sarongs and fan you to keep you cool  Ceejay - I'm glad you're pacing yourself. Don't want to spend your down time recovering from the work week. I could not go down the manholes for all the money in the world  They say you get used to smelly jobs but I don't know about that. Laura - what a nice long vacation ahead of you. Enjoy! There's alot of nice options within a reasonable drive. Get some fun in because fall is just around the corner (don't wack me Michelle  ) Annie - I loved the quick turn around with grandma - you sure are witty  It's amazing the colors we get when we do our own dye jobs. I woke up this morning to go to the potty for the usual early morning loo run. I was very sad to see that it was not 4am like usual but instead 15 minutes before the alarm was due to go off. I really enjoy that extra couple of hours of sleep and feel like I got cheated today. It's even worse being a gray day and all. Guess I will have 2 cups of coffee today. Hope the day goes well for the rest of you. Have a good one. |
Good luck Shad on the job hunting. You know something will come up.
|
Ok Girls...I need prayer...I am having the Whoa is me day.
Yesterday my boss told me we have to cut 8 people back. (Terminate) She has offered up herself, which I found kind of strange. Today I found out she won the lottery big time a couple of years ago and does not have to work. Anyway, if they take her, then, I too, will be eliminated. I am totally freaking out at this point. I carry the insurance on daughter while she goes to school. She has an appt next week as her pre-cancer cells are back and they are going to dialate, scrape and freeze her cervix. She had an "all clear" six months ago, but now it has come back. Please pray for my job and mostly pray for sissy's health. Just can't do personals right now, my head is not in the right place. Feel better Chelle. Love you guys. |
Annie - I'm sending tons of prayers and  your way. Is there any way you can transfer to a different position with a different boss? I would definitely get the resume back out there. When will you know whether or not her position is being cut? Does she have any suggestions on positions you might be able to transfer into within the company? I'm so sorry to hear about your DD's health. Sending prayers and  her way too.
We love you too, Annie. And we're always here for you. :grouphug: |
Now for playing catch up -
Patty - So glad to hear that Blackie did well on his yearly checkup. 13, huh? My eldest is 9 and he sleeps a bit too, but is feisty and playful like a puppy when he's not sleeping. Thanks for your words of encouragement. I know I can do this, and I will succeed at this because I'm not gonna give up...no matter what the scale says. Wow, your parents have been together 56 years? That's wonderful! So nice that your parents are doing well! Ceejay - I hope you get to take a nice long birthday weekend. Shouldn't you be getting a day off sometime soon? Shad - The Fiona's Wish flower is just gorgeous! I didn't know that a cold/flu could cause weight gain...but I also got surprised on Friday by Auntie Flo's early arrival. So I'm pretty sure that between Auntie Flo and the cold, that could explain at least some of the extra weight. I haven't exercised in nearly a week, though the coughing has made my ribs and abs hurt a lot. I have been eating lighter, so we shall see what the scale has in store for me on Thursday. But I'm not worried about it anymore. I'm doing everything right that I can possibly physically do, so the weight will come off. Happy - Glad you had a relaxing time in the yurt. How wonderful that you had great weather for TWO nights of meteor shower watching! It was cloudy here...so we missed the Perseids. Well, there's always the Leonids...where we sit outside on a cold November night freezing our arses off watching the shower. Well, ladies, I'm gonna sign off for now. Since DH and I have been sick, we haven't played much with the puppies and they've taken such good care of us - cuddling and sleeping with us even though we kept waking them up with our coughing fits. They deserve some play time. I'll catch y'all tomorrow! Love you all lots, |
Thanks Chelle.. Humana is making cuts across the board..there are no other openings available. I will know more after tomorrow's meeting. Thank you for the prayers...I am trying to remain positive...everything happens for a reason and opens door for even better things. It is the unknowing that makes me so nuts. This is the first time I have turned to eating due to stress/depression. Usually I cannot eat. Anyway I am sitting here with my size 4s unbuttoned and only zipped. I am fat and miserable all the way around today. Whine whine whine....brite side...I have only cried once, briefly, today.
I did lay out on the back porch after I got home from CVS from about 10:30 to 11:30, looking at the sky/stars, crying, playing ball with Hella B, talking to BF in St. Louis. Was up only once last night with leg/ankle/foot/toe cramps. I barely could walk to get it out. I tried the bar of soap in the bed remedy that someone here suggested, danged if it didn't work....I will keep the bar of soap at the foot of the bed under the sheets from now on. They say to replace it every 3 months or so. Later, |
Annie, I'm so sorry. I have fingers and toes crossed and lots of prayers for you. They say the economy is picking up but I'm not so sure about that. I hope that if the boss takes a package, that they will find something for you. Prayers for your DD's health too.
If you have to chew on something try celery. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER Hella's rawhide. :o If I may suggest, take a peek at your completely awesome signature too. Michelle - what are you doing out of bed? Apparently there is some dreadful summer flu making the rounds. 2 of my 5 co-workers have it and they sound awful. I am dodging people myself. |
Morning all,
Another lovely day on the horizon. I have a few things on the to-do list, the chief of which is to mass murder a million ants. I can live with them if they stay outside, but they have been coming in, so they have to go. Then I have some more plants to put in - got a couple more gerbera for the patch yesterday and a new rose called Bronze Masterpiece - apparently has a full and fruity fragrance. I will keep you posted. I also picked up some light switches and sockets for the house. The ones I have are 20 years old and beginning to show plastic decay! Now I just have to get the DS2 to put them in for me and then I can finish tiling in the kitchen. DS2 is using me as the project manager for the settlement of his new house. I have to call several people to get quotes for work done and oversee the work (if I am still home when he takes possession in a couple of weeks). The hearing aid people rang back and set an appointment for the 2.9.09. It's lucky I am really over the fashion thing and have chosen the flesh coloured earpiece since the others are all more expensive. Which brings me to the moral obligation we all have of enjoying life while you can. I was talking to a couple of retired folk while I was there. They used to be farmers. Worked hard all their working life to get debt free and be able to give the kids an education etc. They have sold the farm and more or less survived the stock market crash and were getting all set to enjoy themselves when disaster - one got what was thought to be the flu but turns out to have had an unhealthy effect on his heart, their eyes, bones, health you name started to fail all at the same time and now they have the money to enjoy themselves, they are spending it on hearing aids, glasses, bone specialists, doctors of one sort or another. The things they wanted to do are now out of their reach so they have to set up a new set of goals for the remaining years. Moral of the story - do it now! Plan it, scope it, pay for it, do it. You can't take the money with you when you go. You've done your best by the kids, use it to your best advantage. It's called SKI holidays (Spend the Kids Inheritance). Worst of all, the wife was telling me that now they are in town and living in a house which is conveniently close to the grown up family, mostly what they get is requests for baby sitting or loans. Sad isn't it. Annie - my thoughts are with you. You have been there before and now it looks as if it is coming again. I am so sorry. I hope it doesn't happen. It shouldn't happen to people, but it does. Michelle - hope you are feeling somewhat better now. Rest and gentle exercise is needed now and good fresh food. Time to build resistance again. Mel - take it easy in the heat. No point in wearing yourself to a frazzle. Happy - take hold of that holiday feeling and don't let any ******* do you out of it. Happiness deserves more than a fleeting memory. Laura - have a fun vacation time. Hope you get to do all you planned to do. So I am off to commit murder on the ants. Patio comes first, then a good sweep up in the house and time to fire the big bombs. Gotta love the ants commitment tho'. It takes a lot to stop them. |
:COFDATE: GOOD MORNING CHICKS. WHAT A THUNDERSTORM WE HAD LAST NIGHT. WOW!! LTGHTS, ACTION....RAIN :rain: I HAD TO GET OUT OF BED TO UNPLUG THE WHCHAIR. DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE ON THE CIRCUIT BREAKER :faint: BECAUSE I DID SOME STUFF YESTERDAY AFTERNOON FOR THE OFFICE, I AM TAKING TODAY OFF. THANK GOD MAINT. IS RUNNING SMOOTHLY AND FOR A CHANGE WE ARE GETTING ALONG VERY WELL....MEANING HE IS DOING WHAT HE'S TOLD WITHOUT AN ARGUMENT. SO I AM OFF TO EAT AND RELAX........AT LEAST TILL THE PHONE RINGS :lol3: :lol3:
HAPPY~ THE MOM STORY MADE ME LAUGH OUTLOUD...I KNOW IT'S NOT FUNNY BUT WE HAVE THAT HERE TOO. I LOVE WHEN THEY COME TO TELL ME THEY BLEW UP THEIR TV. WHEN ALL THAT IS WRONG IS THEY OVERLOADED THE CIRCUIT BREAKER. :faint: HOPE THE BLOATS WENT AWAY AND I HATE THE PP THING TOO WHEN IT'S SO CLOSE TO WAKING TIME. ANNIE~ I AM SO SORRY ABOUT THE JOB AND SISSY. DON'T GET YOURSELF IN A TIZZY. SHE'S GOING TO NEED YOU. TRY YOUR BEST TO KEEP YOUR HEAD ON TODAY....DON'T PROJECT. DYSPLASIA OFTEN COMES BACK AND HAS TO BE REMOVED AGAIN. SO STAY CALM. WILL BE PRAYING FOR BOTH OF YOU. MICHELLE~ STILL SENDING GOOD THOUGHTS FOR YOU AND DH TO FEEL BETTER. HOPE THE HUGS HELPED YESTERDAY. HERE'S ANOTHER ONE  SHAD~ I WAS JUST TELLING ONE OF THE TENANTS SOMETHING SIMILAR. PEOPLE ARE TELLING HIM HE'S A FOOLISH OLD MAN WASTING HIS MONEY GOING OUT TO EAT ETC. I TOLD HIM HE SHOULD GO OUT AND DO STUFF AS OFTEN AS POSSIBEL BEFORE HE CAN'T GO ANY LONGER. HE'S ALREADY USING A WALKER. NOW HE'S A HAPPY OLD MAN...I SAID THEY ARE JEALOUS HE HAS THE MONEY!!! HOPE YOU WIN THE BATTLE OF THE ANTS!! GO GET 'EM!!! GOOD LUCK WITH BEING THE DS'S OVERSEER. HE PICKED A GOOD PERSON! :rollpin: KEEP US POSTED ON THE BRONZE ROSE! YUM! |
Happy Wednesday -
I'm back at work today with lots to do! It doesn't even feel like I had 5 days off (Friday thru Tuesday) since I slept through 4 of them. I started getting a bit of energy back yesterday, but my body definitely reminded me when I was doing too much. Today will be a pretty low-key day - head down, typing away, getting lots of work done. My chest is still kinda rattling when I breathe and I'm coughing a bit, so I probably won't get any "structured" exercise today, other than walking 'round the office, going to the loo, and downstairs to the cafeteria. If I feel better tomorrow, I may try and go to the gym...but I sure ain't gonna rush it. Annie - My thoughts and prayers are still with you. I'm sending you  too. I agree, not knowing drives me crazy. I can handle ANYTHING once I know about it and can make contingency plans or figure out how to deal with it. Darling, you're not fat even if you can't button your size 4s. Take it from soneone who is trying to button Size 16s, okay? You're not fat. Laying on the back porch talking to a friend, letting out your emotions under the stars and playing with Hella Bella sounds really nice. If you feel like eating...figure out what kind of food you want...if you want salty, try popcorn; crunchy, try carrots or celery; sweet, try yogurt or grapes. We all know it's not good to stuff feelings down with food...but if you must, try for the healthy food and definitely avoid the rawhide. Shad - I hope you brought millions of ants to their demise. I'm looking forward to photos of your new plants. Thanks for the great reminder to enjoy life now. And I'm definitely heeding your advice of rest and gentle exercise. I don't want to sleep through any more summer weekends...we have so few remaining before the chill sets in. Mel - Enjoy your day off and relax. Thanks for all the hugs and good thoughts. DH and I are both getting better...we just have a little bit of lingering crud in our lungs. Happy - I hope you have a great day today. It's a pity how all the wonderful relaxing feelings left over from a vacation can quickly dissipate with a bit of stress at work (or with Mom - Bless her heart). Well, it's catch-up time for this chick! Lots of love and hugs, |
Good morning ladies,
Good to hear you are back at work Michelle but I'm sure just walking around will knock the stuffing out of you. Ease into work there - maybe some walking around the office to get you going again. Lay off the high intensity aerobics until that rattle goes away. Mel - we got the same rainstorm last night. I was driving home and noticed some really high storm clouds with approaching grayness. We were able to grill brats but the skies really opened up around 8pm. Torrential rains, fierce and constant lightning. I'm glad your chair didn't get an extra "charge". Shad - good luck with the ants. Once they find their way in it's a constant battle. We had to dig a small trench and treat around the foundation of the house on the outside wall back up north as the ant nation was living under my neighbor's driveway next to us. I hear you on making each minute count. I think about that often particularly as I am hearing about some deaths of aquaintances and former co-workers recently. DH and I said the big puzzle is to figure out how to amass enough cash to support ourselves and remain independent during our feeble years and then check out when we are down to our last $100. Maybe we do that that drive off the cliff when we're about out of money. I think I now understand why some old folks are so tight with a buck - right now when I can get work and can work (hopefully), I'm not so worried because I know I can work as I need to. But when I'm 85, I sure don't want to have to go to the grocery store and bag groceries for 5 dollars an hour just to afford my medicine. Of course I'm thinking that when I'm 85 the world and my physical condition will probably be so shot to :censored: that the best thing would be that "dirt nap" Speaking of work, better get to it. to all the chicks, extra  for you Annie - got you on the novena list  |
Mornin
Thank you for all the good thoughts and prayers and suggestions. Yesterday was my whoa is me day, today is my why me day, tomorrow is my get over it and move on, you boob day. I did send my resume here to work on it, I mean what the H. A little down in the dumps today, but refuse to let it all get me completely down. Have to have great spirirts, today is DSs 21st BD. God love him, he is planning to come home next Tuesday night as I work tonight and cannot go out with him. His work week is Friday thru Tuesday, off on Wed and Thurs. Chelle...you are the best, thank you for all your encouraging words. Yes, today I decided not to eat junk and eat healthy. I brought from the gardenl...lettuce, tomato, green pepper, banana pepper, and cucumber to make me an awesome salad for lunch. How are you and DH feeling? Sounds like you are getting a bit back to normal and just so you can go back to work. The getting better part is great, the back to work....well I guess I wouldn't gripe at this stage..smiles! It doesn't matter what size I am, I always feel fat when I cannot fit into my clothes. I am wearing my 8s today so I can have room and breathe. I am still so very proud on your accomplishments with weight, exercise, and getting your back into a feel better state. You keep on keepin on, I want to see less of you (lbs wise). MEL...Enjoy your relaxing day....about the phone..don't answer it. Isn't it nice when people do as they are told or at least do as they say they are gong to do? Shad...that is usually how the retirement goes. Too old and decrepid to enjoy it. A dude at a former place of employment kept putting off retirement, finally at 70 he reitired with more money than he knew what to do with. Yep, died at 71.5 of cancer. Kids are lovin' the money however. Now you are a project engineer of a construction site (DSs new house), wow you wear many hats girl. Happy...if I chew on Hella Bs rawhide, at least I won't gain lbs. Guess I will have to water my garden tonight cause all this rain that keeps happening in Indiana, keeps dancing all around my house, but none in my yard. Plants are begging for water. Zucchini plant is completely dead. Sam came over and colored my hair before I went for my hair appt. Her bf, Christopher and the T came over too. It did my heart good. Made chicken tetrazini, fresh greenbeans and pica for dinner. Not one bite of food left on the table. Hi's to all. Here is to a great day and good outcome on everything for everyone today. Again, thank you for all the good wishes and prayers. Love ya's, |
Happy - I'm definitely gonna avoid big time exercise until I can talk/breathe without coughing. Wow, you had quite the show from Mom Nature last night, huh? We're supposed to get rain tonight through Friday...fine by me as DH mowed the lawns yesterday and we don't have any plans until this weekend - hope to get some fishing in.
Annie - Tomorrow is Move Your Boobs Day? I'll bet T will like that one! ;) I didn't see that on the official holiday calendar...but I'll celebrate it by jumping and jiggling just a little...can't move too much or the coughing fits will start. A big Happy Birthday to your DS. I'm envious of your garden. My tomatoes are still mostly all green, cukes never came in and I'm getting more gourds than squash. At least the stuff in the store is still relatively cheap still and tasty. As for seeing less of me...I don't know what the scale will say tomorrow. I just know that with being sick and all, I did everything possible to lose weight this week. I moved a little when my body would allow, and ate on plan, and watched out for the sodium. I'm not gonna worry about it at all. I'll just do my very best each day. It took me years to get to this weight, so if I can lose it in a year or so, I'll be thrilled. Glad you had a nice evening with Sam, her bf and T. The dinner sounds fabulous, and is making my mouth water. What is "pica"? Here's another  and  and :goodvibes: so that you'll get good news today! |
CHELLE...you are THEE VERY BEST! Pica de Gallo....salsa. When salsa is more dry and chopped ingredients...tomatos, jalapenos, onions, cilantro, garlic, and a bit of sugar or splenda, pepper and sea salt, itouch of lime juice...it is usually called pica de gallo. When salsa is a bit more saucy, smooth, runny it is called salsa. I learned that in Texas when I was there last March. Guess it was an educational vacation...
Yeah move my boobs, I meant move on...calling myself a BOOB! Let's make it a move your boobs day anyway, it made me smile. |
Annie – I'm so sorry to hear your job is at risk of being eliminated and the bad news about daughter's health. Keeping you in my thoughts.
Ceejay – You mentioned the manhole and I thought of that Dirty Jobs show. I also encountered a dirty job while watching tv the other night. A&E had a show called Hoarders I watched. An organizing company came in (along w/ some kind of clinical researcher studying people who hoard) to help a woman who hoarded food. She had so much and a lot of it was rotting in her fridge and elsewhere in her house - you can imagine the mess, I won't get into details. That clean-out was truly a dirty job. I feel horrible for people who have illnesses like that. Happy – Glad your mum's cell phone problems weren't very serious. I'm trying to get my mother to get a cell phone – just one of those pay as you go ones. She had a bunch of issues back in April while traveling and definitely could have used one. It will be a b-day gift if she doesn't get one by then - end of Sept. Mel – Hope you're keeping cool and taking it easy. Smart to take the chair "offline". Too funny about people thinking their tv blew up and it was the circuit breaker. Our old bedroom tv actually did go kaput last week, and while it didn't blow up, there was a funny sound when I turned it on followed by a flash of light from the back of the set that I saw lighting up the wall behind it. The burnt electrical smell followed. Not a calm death. We're just going to buy a used TV, same size, otherwise we'd spend more on a new flat one, and then need a different type of holder/bracket for it, and so on. We're getting one today we saw on craigslist. Michelle – sorry you and hubby have colds. I had a bad week last week and it included one day where I woke up with a fleeting sore throat and during the day I felt feverish and sort of had a runny nose, but that was about it. I'm lucky it didn't develop into a full-blown cold... Anyway, definitely taking it easy until the congestion in your chest eases up. You're being sensible about the weight loss progress – it didn't go on quickly and, much as we'd like it to, it won't come off quickly. You can only keep on trying and not give up. Shad – x-rated bird chorus? What did I miss?! Yeh, agree with you about the insects needing to stay outdoors. Even if a spider comes in, if he stays up high on the ceiling, I give them a break. But once they get to my level – sorry Charlie. Hope you had a successful mission against the invading ants! So you have an alternate career path with arranging contractors to do work on houses, and of course your own skills. Hi to Patty! Today is the first day of my vacation. What a gorgeous day!!! Slept in til about 7:45, then the dog woke up and started barking. I made eggs and bacon for breakfast. I have had this turkey bacon twice now, once prepared in the toaster oven and today in the frying pan and it didn't get any better. Awful. It was Jennie-O/Turkey Store. Will try other brands since I didn't care for this one. Anyone have a favorite? Maybe I should just buy Canadian bacon. I rarely eat the egg & bacon breaky, so maybe I shouldn't worry about that. I have other areas of my diet that ar far worse than my breakfasts that I should focus on. Bf went off to fight a red light ticket he'd gotten – he won! Showed the court administrator that the video showed the light was yellow when he was making his turn. Well, today's plan is to get cleaned up and dressed, take doggy for a walk, go get some $$ and buy that TV. Nothing firmly planned this afternoon. I'm meeting a high school friend for dinner at 6 tonight, should be nice. Oh, what a good start to my vacay. Sitting at the table in the 3-season room looking out at doggy laying in the yard, sprawled on his back soaking up the sun. Now the ultra cute doggy behind our house is out being her adorable self. Oh, my dog is a black lab mix adopted as a pup from a lab rescue org. He's now 6.5 yo. Have a wonderful day ladies. |

Annie, darlin', I know what you meant about move on, and calling yourself a boob...I was just making a joke and trying to get you to smile a little...glad it worked! We should all make it a move your boobs day and see how the world (or at least our little corners of it) react!
|
Happy - Do yours twirl in the same direction? I've never been quite talented enough to get the girls to go in opposite directions!
|
BTW, Annie, I LOVE Pica de Gallo! The chunkier the better! Much better than plain ol' smooth salsa.
|
Michelle, I just leaned over and tried - I hope my pod mates were focused on their computer screens  Hard to tell but I think they were each going in a different direction - they hang farther than my eyes can see. The nips scraped my shoe tops. Good thing I have suede on today.
|
Hey Laura - Yuck about the Hoarders show. I don't hoard food...but I do have a bit of clutter around....I hate throwing things away. One of these days I'll go through my house with a shovel and throw the lot out. Sorry about your TV, but congrats on getting another one. I LOVE Craigslist. In fact, we bought our practically brand new sofa and loveseat off of Craigslist Chicago. Thanks for the kind words of support and encouragement! I'm not giving up this time. I've done that before only to gain back all that I've lost and then some. This time I'm in it for the long haul. :) Congrats on your BF winning the ticket fight! And it sounds like you're having a wonderful day to start your vacay! I hope the rest of it is just as lovely. As for turkey bacon...I've never tried any...but I have recently tried turkey pepperoni. You can have 17 slices for 2 WW points! Yummm!!
|
Happy - OMG I almost fell out of my chair laughing! I think my co-workers are wondering what the heck is so dang funny! I'm glad you're wearing suede shoes so the nips at least rubbed against something smooth! BTW, per Annie's earlier email...you're a day early...today is WHY ME DAY (or is it WHY MEN DAY ? ) TOMORROW IS MOVE YOUR BOOBS DAY. But you're getting in good practice...maybe next time try the twirling in front of DH and he can confirm whether or not they go in the same direction!
|
Laura...sounds like a very relaxing vacation. Enjoy your time off. It will go fast.
Happy...OMG..will you need bandaides for your nips? Holy cow! Yet another smile on my face. Chelle...I am not going to even try the twirling thing, would probably smack myself in the face with the dangly, stretchy things and knock myself out. A bit of good news, however not completely out of the clearing. Boss lady told her boss she will be in it for the long run and as long as she has a job, I have a job. Which is really no different only that she sounds more like she might stay rather than go. IDK, I am so confused at this point. |
Annie - I'm glad that your boss has decided to stay put for now! That's gotta be a bit of a relief for you. You don't have to try the twirling...just move the girls however you want (move the boobs day is tomorrow, remember). And if you need help movin' 'em, maybe T would like to help. ;)
|
yikes Annie, I don't know what to make of boss' comment either - just glad to hear that you are safe for the moment.

Morning all,
Annie - I hope that means good things for you and the job. If you don't mind, I won't try the twirling of the boobs for boobs day. It becomes uncomfortable when you lose your balance and tip forward and then tread on one or the other or both trying to regain the equilibrium. Also I hope the DD comes through this next bout with flying colours. I'll give her courage and determination in spades. I would have said take it away, cut it off, do away with it etc., long before now. Michelle - glad to hear you are on the improve and are heeding the dire warnings about relapses and not overdoing things. You've had a bit of a rough trot recently with flu, backs, asthma etc. Happy - brushing the nipples against the blue suede shoes????? Now there could be an interesting sensation. Had to laugh about your Mums phone blues. I will be in the same boat next week since the provider has decided I am loyalty personified and upped my free calls and given me a new phone. There isn't much wrong with the old one and I quite like it even if I can't easily find all the gizmo's I used to be able to find. Laura and Ceejay - enjoy your respective breaks. You've both really earned them so don't waste the time. Mel - turn out the lights, open the curtains and enjoy the light and sound show. Awesome. Maintenance running smoothly?! WTF???! Watch out. Usually goes to **** in a handcart if I say something like that. I'm off to fix my recent spate of boo boos. I went to pull my debit card out of the wallet yesterday to pay for the petrol and car wash and it wasn't there. Rung the bank to find out if it had been used - it hasn't and here are the last places you used it. Rung the electical shop and lo and behold the lovely man there has it all safe and sound in his till. I apparently dropped it on the floor of the shop and he picked it up and chased after me, but I was gone. Lucky me. I found someone honest! Then I went to pick up the tiles for the trim on loo walls. Got them home, measured them out, worked out where I had to cut etc., and then DS2 pointed out they are floor tiles and not wall tiles and they will stand out on the wall compared to the other tiles. So back to the tile shop this morning to try to exchange them. Pity, because I just loved them and it took me ages to find them. I have a list to beat all to-do lists today so I had better get on and do some things. I have a couple of scientific experiments going on in the fridge too. Aaaarrrgh. And for those suffering from friction from the suede, flu's, worry, vacation days, and maintenance well being, here is a new rose out this morning. This is Radio Times and is just lovely and smells too good. |
You ladies make me laugh,a twirling boob day.
Happy I don't think I could have tried that in front of the all seeing eye, camera. I was doing neck rolls one afternoon and felt some one watching me. My boss had brought over a new employee to view the plant. The boss didn't say any thing. He may have thought I was sleeping. I was doing a back wash precedure at the time, too. Lord I hope he wasn't thinking I was having seizures! Michelle Don't you give up girlfriend. I'm starting again this week end on my weight loss journey. I've been watching Oprah and Dr Oz has made some very good remarks on weight and one of them hit home to me. Fat around your back and stomach can sqeeze the internal organs causing all sorts of ailments. This may be where my blood pressure problem lies. I want this spare tire deflated. Annie I am glad that things are looking more in your favor at work. Prayers and hugs are being sent on behalf of you dd. She's too young to be dealing with this ordeal. Shad To bad the tiles were for the floor. But great news that the card was found. The ordeal with the bank card would have driven me nuts. Hello to Mel, Patty and Laura. I didn't go back and read all the posts so I'll catch up tomorrow. My RediSetGo appliance was here when I got home and after all the rain yesterday the card board box was soaked. I'm ready to try this thing and see if it meets it's reputation on QVC. If not it's going back. When I was coming home tonight and was ready to turn on my street I saw the girls making their way down the street. I was not ready for them yet. Tomorrow I will be. I decided to go to the interstate in search of food. I bought a fried pork chop and okra. It was a little spicy--to much blach pepper. I'm really hungry for some fresh corn on the cob, green beans etc. I want my healthy eating habits to return. Here's my plan for the girls tomorrow. If they need gas money it will not be given to them and I will tell them that a friend is going to mow from now on, plus weed eat and trim the bushes. If they do have the gas and want to mow, tomorrow will be their last day and I will tell them that I have myself on a schedule of going to be early. They can come if I'm home on the week end at least once. Last night I was in the bed by 8.30 p.m. I didn't get to exercise because I watched a show on VTN. I've been riding the bike for 15 minutes/4.3 miles/200 burned calories each night. Now to get my eating under control. I've had Slim Fast a couple of nights after work and I don't feel as bloated. I really need to be careful of the sugar intake and carb intake. I've learned that to much sugar can give me colitis and to many carbs can make me bloated. Some of the girls in the blogs have been using photo's of what they eat. I'm thinking very seriously about doing this. Visual aids may help me see just exactly what I'm putting in my mouth. |

Morning ladies,
Apparently there are some strong storms just west of me. Lots of lightning strikes. I'd rather be in the office than driving through it. So no time to post right now, gotta get on the road. Back later. |
Happy Move Your Boobs Day, Ladies!
Shad - Twirling is optional. My girls move just when I walk, especially when I do stairs. So I'm sure you're honoring the day in your own way with all you do. I am listening to my body and not overdoing it. I want to get over this cold or flu or whatever and not let it drag on. And if this cold helps boost my immunity for the fall/winter colds, then I'm all for it. I'm glad your debit card was found. I lost mine, and it was a major pain in the arse to get it replaced. Sorry that your lovely tiles are for the floor and not the wall. Thanks for posting the photo of Radio Times! It's so lovely and really brightened my day! Ceejay - Good on ya' for starting again!! And for all the bike riding. Here's to deflating our waist tires! Good luck with your RediSetGo appliance. I'm eagerly awaiting your review. Sending you :goodvibes: as you stand up to those girls. YGG! As for food visual aides...in the work-sponsored weight management class I was taking, they suggested using a salad plate rather than a dinner plate so that the smaller portions visually fill the plate making it seem like more food. And to fill at least 1/2 the plate up with vegetables, no more than 1/4 with protein and no more than 1/4 with starch (rice, potatoes, pasta). Here's a link to the Portion Plate visual aide used in class: http://www.theportionplate.com/ Annie - So glad to hear the job situation is looking good for now! Still sending prayers and  for your DD. Sending a big  your way...you've had a helluva week. Happy - The grilled brats sound WONDERFUL! I've been looking for some good turkey brats...but haven't found any yet. We grilled out hot dogs the other night, and I piled mine high with kraut! Yummm! Hope you make it to work before the big storms hit. Mel - I'll be back in butt kicking form soon...don't you worry. I'm hoping to be over this crud by the weekend. :) Laura - Since you only eat bacon on a rare occasion, I would say either enjoy the real stuff and plan around it....or try Canadian bacon. I hope you're having a wonderful vacation!! Well, I'd better get to work. Lots of love and hugs to all, |
All the comotion, I miss hump day. Today is even better...TWIRL YOUR BOOBS DAY!!! T was over on Tuesday night and did get his trash chore done. lol Of course I fixed dinner too, good trade off for him, I think, cause I never have even one trash can full of trash.
Chelle...typing while twirlling...I have only had 13 smacks in the face by the twirlers and stepped on them twice... Slowly work your way back into your exercise routine, don't want to get you all the way down for months at a time with sickness. Shad...the doc says sissy is too young to remove the cervix completely especially since she has not had children yet. I told sis that kids were not EVEN cracked up to all that. They are like puppies and kittens, they grow up and be dogs and cats... Ceejay....glad you are getting back to the healthy routine. YGG. MEL...I agree with the weird weather this summer. It has been gray, sunny, gray sunny now gray again and it is only going on 11 am. Hmmm a smelly loo, you must of had a blow out. Happy...I am not a grilled brats, dogs, or weiner fan, however I would take anything right now that anyone wanted to cook for me. Laura...hope the vacay is going well. Hey to everyone. Love and Hugs |
Hi all,
Here I sit in the cough-a-thon pod at work. Lots of throat clearing, coughing and a few sneezies. Wish these sickos would stay home  All profess of course not to be contagious. I was talking to DH last night and started feeling that icky stuff you get in your chest when you're sick. Wasn't sure if the cat was bothering me. DH made me take a snort - yep, just uncork the bottle and take a swig of Nyquil. It had an expiration date of November 08 but he said it was still good. I figured if I was coming down with something, drinking right out of the bottle was not a good idea, so I used the measuring cup. Darn if that stuff didn't make me sleep through the night. I only wished I could have slept about 3 hours more this morning. I think I'm right on the cusp of coming down with something - hoping I can fight it off. It was a bit chilly this am with the rain so my girls are buried under several layers which is impacting my ability to twirl them. If I hold my left arm close to my chest, I can "flick one" - guess that will have to do. And it doesn't work on the right side. I do admit it's cheering up and otherwise gloomy, miserable day. :D Annie is doing this with hers apparently :kickcan: step drag step drag  Yesterday we had a meatball sub for supper. I could have done worse eating wise but I am missing my more healthy fare. Can't wait to get to the grocery store this weekend and stock up on the good stuff again. I could do the hot dogs or brats once every other month or so, been eating too much of that stuff for my liking tho DH sees nothing wrong with it. I was hoping to have enough vegetables to make a batch of Michelle's veggie soup but most everything is wilted enough not to be appealing. :( I tried my best to clear out the fridge before we went on vacation. Annie - hope your DD will be ok. My niece is dealing with the same problem. Darn if that isn't the most stubborn thing! I agree with you - no offense to parents but yep, kids are not the be all end all and pinnacle of one's life. ;) And the bigger concern would be what you could be passing to the fetus in either the "growing environment" or with the treatments. So many odd things people deal with now that I don't remember hearing when we were younger. I guess gestational thyroid issues are huge now too. Michelle - I think there is great merit in the salad plate idea. It sure makes the Lean Cuisines look like you've got more there  I think I'd rather eat 1 real brat once a month instead of turkey substitutes. I like others have not found a decent turkey sausage / bacon replacement although I have gotten used to turkey chili and meatloaf and don't mind it at all - perhaps it's because I use a 70/30 mix with some real beef thrown in. Mel - ouch, poor Grandson. Guess flying is tricky. Hope you can avoid that summer flu - it's really devistating. Not enough Mucinex in NJ to see you through it so hide woman and take your antibacterial hand scrub with you! Hope Jen can get her rest now that the kids are back in school. Laura - hope you are having a great vacation. Looks like a stormy day for you today too - great for napping! Did you get that TV? Ceejay - what's a ReadySetGo? Hope it works as well as they show on TV. My food processor (while it dices nice salads) is sitting on the counter in the back. :dunno: It's good that you can identify what foods make you feel better and which are just bad triggers. Now if only we could stick to the plan :^: Shad - good to hear that you patronize an honest shop maker. Glad you got the debit card back with your funds intact! Could have been scary. The new rose is quite pretty - hope it smells divine. Bummer on the wrong tile. I did the same thing - found the absolute perfect counter tile. Just loved it and it was the right size, color and pattern. Yayyyy. Then DH points out that it's wall tile and won't work on the counters. Just ruined the entire scheme. Hope you can find something that works for you too. Hi Patty! Hope things are going ok on the work front. I'm soooo sleepy right now. Wish I could crawl somewhere and take a snooze. The day's only half over. Must-make-this-somewhat-boring-analysis-job-more-interesting. I hope I can make it to bed earlier. Being super tired like this is generally a sign I'm coming down with something but if I can sleep it off, I can generally avoid it. Happy Thursday to you. **tips hat** |
Happy, blame the tired on the Nyquil and you didn't get it slept off. Sometimes periods coming on make me tired. Or hey, working two jobs and not sleeping at night. It sucks. Start popping extra vitamin Cs. It may all be in my head that it helps ward off the sniffles, but it seems to work whatever it is. I have been working on the 2010 Strategic Plan for two days straight, and my eyes are going crazy. Too much computer and numbers. and really how well can ANYONE guess the future of next year? Slap some numbers in there and hope for the best is what I want to do, however everything has to be justified.

Hey ladies -
I had a great weigh in today!! :goodscale: I was down 6 lbs!! :woohoo: Now, I'm thrilled and all, but I wonder what's up...I find it hard to believe that just getting over TOM and having this cold and NOT being able to exercise would cause me to lose 6 lbs in week. Hopefully, the scale doesn't "adjust" next week. Annie - you be careful while twirling, okay? Big hugs for you and DD. Happy - I hope you don't get sick. Take plenty of Vit. C and Vit. D. Definitely try to get to bed early (like before 11 at least). This bugger hangs on. I went to our clinic at work, and even though the infection seems to have cleared up, the doc gave me some antibiotics and a codeine cough syrup - good stuff! Nyquil is great stuff too. I was taking that over the weekend...probably why I literally slept all the way from Friday morning until Monday night - only got up to eat and go potty. Twirl 'em, flick 'em, long as you're movin' 'em anyway you can it's all good!! DH is an all beef kinda guy...not sure I could sneak turkey into his meatloaf. Mel - Hope grandson is doing okay. Signing off for now. Love and hugs, |
