oops! Anyways the breadmachine talk made me want to break my old machine out. Sounds like a cold weather thought. Haven't used mine in a long time. I used to have some great recipes even healthy ones!! The pumpkin custard sounds good to. Got a recipe to share?
Well to everyone else have a super evening and I will use that crazy scale on tues. Gotta keep him in sight for good behavior and keeping myself in tune of my goal. |
Carol - Here's my pumpkin custard recipe I posted on Sparkpeople Recipes http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recip...p?recipe=24218
I top mine with a dab of whipped topping and 1 tsp. maple syrup. Yum! |
Wow, what a busy day in here today! I'm trying to do a quick check in while I should be watching the Phillies game - World Series, you know. We don't normally watch a lot of baseball, but it is the World Series, and Philly hasn't won anything in a looooong time!
Marie, Sweet Oatmeal Bread sounds yummy! I don't usually buy bread for myself, and DH is one of those Wonder Bread kids ;), so since I want him to eat healthier, I have to buy the whole grain white kind. Good bread is hard to keep to a limited amount for me, but maybe I'll dust off the machine in the Christmas season. Any healthy recipes would definitely be appreciated! Lu, sounds like you're on the right track, planning and making new habits. Since you like to bake, that would be great for economical gift giving! I usually do some of that, but this year it may be more than usual (but not cookies!- too dangerous to have around!) And yeah, the food journal is an absolute MUST for staying on track! Judy, hahaha! I had to laugh about playing emotional music, because I definitely do that, too! This time I was listening to certain Barry Manilow songs over and over and over... So sad, but wallowing is part of it, for sure! I identified with "monkey brain" too. ;) How does this Thanksgiving challenge work? Anything official? Or just shoot for a specific goal? Whatever, I'm in! Penny, glad to hear you're healing! And just getting outside in nice weather is good, so even if you couldn't do everything you'd like to do, it's better than sitting in the house crying with Barry Manilow! :D So, what's this about pumpkin custard??? Carol, mmmmmm, sweet potatoes sound good! And yay for the apple! I'm not a big apple fan- they always seem to leave me hungrier after I've eaten them, but if it works for you, that's awesome! Have fun with the new gym! Seems like a good deal. Back to the baseball game... Everyone have a nice Tuesday! |
Guess I was too slow - the custard recipe link appeared while I was typing...

Quick check in.
Hi Judy!! Nice to hear from you. I have a few videos from the beachbody. Currently, I'm starting with the Great body Guaranteed (the first video they came out with). After doing that one for about 30 -60 days then I will do the bootcamp series. I will stay with that series for 40 day and then I will move on to the P90X series. That is a KILLER!! I need to get in shape for that one. I know it sounds silly. But I don't have any upper body strength. I can't do one pull up. When I was working out consistently, even doing 10K's. I did the p90x video for one week and I lost 5 lbs. But like I said before it is a workout that will make you feel every bone on your body. I also have slim 6 and some other ones. That I can't think of right now. About the challenge, you need to give us some details. I'm looking forward to the challenge. If you want, I can post daily thoughts. Just let me know. I have done challenges before on line and here at the gym. It's a great motivator!! Penny: Hi there!! Thank you for the welcome. This was a quick checking in. I am doing empanadas de carne (meat turnovers). By the way, I am Puerto Rican. Something else you didn't know about me. Have a good night sleep for most of you and for the rest of you girls "Good Morning"!! Lu |
Hi everyone, wow it was busy here yesterday!!!! I did a little stained glass but cleaned like a mad woman. There was loads of dust (I live in the dust bowl 6 months out of the year) and then there was drywall dust. So I washed everything, vacuumed the floor, then washed it. It was very clean. Note the word WAS. Dear doggies missed me today and weren't overly good. Kai pulled and shredded another corner of the pool cover, fell in, then tore through the house so the floor is all streaked with paw prints and kodiak was angry and marked his territory. Oh well, the dusting stayed clean. :D But Blizzard, my soul doggie was an angel. One out of three...
Work was irritating. Why, if I take off 2 days do people get stupid and can't do anything. I'll take the entire week and probably some of next to catch up. sometimes I don't know if vacation days are worth it, except on the joyful vacation day. Just not when one returns to work. I did 32 minutes aerobics and 12 minutes toning this morning. Lu's description of the series she's progressing to sounds horrendous!!!!! Although I'd like 5 pounds in one week. :D Judy, good job on the unpacking. So your new place has a fitness center as well? I think that would be nice as I'd hate to pay for a gym. Most of the time I like working out by myself but occasionally going somewhere else isn't bad (like my rare visits to hotels - I always make sure they have fitness centers). And Judy, my new breadmachine has gluten-free recipes in it. I thought of you when I saw them. Penny, buy the bread machine. I could never go back to buying bread. I just bought the breadman TR875. I had the breadman ultimate but this one had better amazon reviews. And I got a little mad at mine for frying. Carol, I will post my Sweet Oatmeal Bread recipe later. I'd have to get up and I'm tired (and lazy). I have it on my DH's windows computer and I'm at my Mac. I'll be booting it up for doing some work from home stuff (I remote control my work computer). Lu, I too can have all the baked stuff in the world in my house and never succumb. I don't know why, but I can. Good luck on the fitness program. If I pushed myself to the extreme, I'd probably quit. I found a lot of exercises that enjoy and will be on the 3 year anniversary of not missing exercise in January. (I have missed when I was really sick and a couple random days - probably about 20 days in total). To me having it something that doesn't kill me is the key to staying with it. Although considering how I attack expert ski runs, it just may kill me. :dizzy: Auntie, wow on your weather (although double wow on Carol's weather since her neck of the woods is getting a winter storm warning). I saw the images on MSNBC on the baseball game cancellation. Anyway, I totally agree about the food logs, no matter what form it takes (electronic or a sheet of paper). It's way harder to cheat when you have to be honest with yourself or be a liar. It's the only way I can lose weight, that's for sure. Well, I'm going to have a burger and fries for dinner. :o But I buy 93/7 beyond lean ground beef and have 4 oz (190 cals), a small bun (140 cals), 1 t. fat free mayo and ketchup (about 10 cals) and a couple slices of tomatoes - and 3 oz of frozen fries baked in my convection oven (130 cals). A yummy meal for 470 cals. So off I go to the decadent (but healthy in this case) dinner. Marie |
Hi there!!
Marie: I know how it is when people act like they don't know how to do things. That irritates me!! Good job on getting some aerobic into your day. I know my plans sounds pretty tough but its not. I'm starting slowly and working myself into the routine, making sure I get my cardio in and doing strength training at least 3 times a week. Believe me, I am taking baby steps. I just have to do it everyday so I can get the habit in. My goal is to be able to workout and make it a habit that I don't have to think about I have to workout but just do it. Like brushing my teeth. Changing the subject, the burgers sounds great. I usually do turkey burger or salmon burger. Mmmm, they come out juicy. I usually have that once a week for the family. Gotta go for now, I will try to be back for a quick look. Take care ladies!! Lu |
Howdy, all! So far, so good since the weekend. I feel like I'm almost ready for some serious exercise. I started messing around a little bit with some dumbbells while I watched TV...
Lu, your kind of exercise is sooooo out of my league, but hey, you GO girl! I'll be content when I can just get myself to do some sort of daily exercise. Marie, ah, doggies (and husbands) don't really go hand in hand with a clean house! That's ok, we'll keep 'em anyway... And this weather is insane! It snowed all dang day! Mixed with rain, of course, so there's nothing really left on the ground now, but it's so cold and windy - definitely not baseball weather. The burger and fries are sounding good, I have been getting a craving for sweet potato fries. The weather's supposed to ease up for the weekend, so maybe I'll get to do a burger on the grill. Or maybe skip the burger and have more fries! :o Well, it's off to bed for me. Happy Wednesday! |
Hello Everyone!
I am new to this site and I would love to check in everyday (as life permits) and be able to chat about the ups and downs of my new journey. I haven't learned how to manuever through the site yet but I hope I will learn in time. Any tips you can provide are appreciated.
In a nutshell, I am in it for the long haul. I want to lose weight and be a healthier and happier Me! The real me! I plan to get married in 2 years and I'd like to learn about foods, my health, feeding my family, and eating to live; not living to eat! I'm 33 and I want to live to see 34. Oops, didn't get off the computer before a new post popped up.
Hi MiMi, and welcome! Just keep posting, that will help you stay on the track to reaching your goals. I look forward to getting to know you. |
Marie: My husband called and asked if I can make some burgers for him and his friends. So I guess, I will be making burgers tonight.
Mimi: Welcome to the board!! You aren't the only one new. I am new to this as well. I think I started posting on Thursday or Friday. I hope to know you as well. We have wonderful ladies here on board. There are great!! Auntie: Hi there. Someone is knocking on my door. I will be back. Lu |
Mimi welcome to the site and you just pop in and out when you have time. Anytime is a good time for us to hear from you. Everyone has such busy schedules that its like that for many of us. Sometimes I pop in lots then somedays its tough and I don't get to it.
If you'd like to list what your doing to lose wt. or meet your goal that would be great but its totally up to you. I am trying hard to stay on task and lose 10lbs by christmas, joining a new gym this week. I am a mother of 3 and have 5 lovely grandkids and of course my hubby and the son in laws and lovely daughter inlaw. My kids from HI are coming home for christmas and I think that will motivate me mostly to get moving. I am so excited and so is the hubby. Everyone else I will catch up later. Got busy with making jewelry last night didn't snack at all after dinner sm glass of wine though. Stayed within my 1500 cals overall and that is a good day for me..... Talk to you all soon. I would love that recipe and your a better woman than I Marie I always have to eat some of what I make. I want to be you in that dept. |
Hi all, just a quick post as out of our office of 6, I'm the only one here. 3 out sick, one (the 3's supervisor) is off today and is too stupid to figure out he should have canceled his vacation day) and one just left because her GS is sick. So this is short. The recipe...
Sweet Oatmeal Bread 2 t. active dry yeast 3 c. bread flour 1 T. gluten 1 1/2 t. salt 1 1/2 T. sugar 3/4 c. oats 3 T. molasses or honey 1 3/8 c. warm water 98 cal per slice - 18 slices Then I was reading an email and thought of Carol. Here's part of it... Remember . . . live every day to the fullest. Each minute is a blessing from God. And never forget . . . the people who make a difference in our lives are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care for us. So Carol, that's why you'd be considered for management. You care. Marie |
CCKayac, AuntG, and paradise, thank you so much for the warm welcome! I am really enjoying this already!
So today was the first day at the gym and a big accomplishment for me. Why you say? Oh, because I made it to the gym! I realize that I am really going to have to change my schedule around so that it will benefit my long term goals for this weightloss. I did 45 minutes on the treadmill and I really felt great doing it. Next week, I plan to incorporate some weights into it but I wanted to start with cardio only. I will say that I am great need of low fat, low calorie recipes for lunch and dinner. I think this is the area that always messes me up b/c I really don't know of many. I follow directions well so if you have any ideas or suggestions please share. I bought me a cookbook but it has a lot of sophisticated meals in it. I would prefer some regular day to day meals. I'm so happy to be here guys and thank you to everyone in the group for the inspiration 2CtheREALme! Mi Mi:D |
Well, this will be quick because I'm FREEZING! The office is really cold today, and my space heater just decided to stop working. I've been eating on program, but no workout yet today, and probably not this evening, based on how chilly and sluggish I'm feeling.
Good to meetcha, Mi Mi! You'll find great support in this thread, all the chickies here are wonderful . My main piece of advice re navigating this site: get to know your User CP (button at the far left near the top) and the Thread Tools (to the right near the top of each thread, like the Daily Check-In). Once I figured those things out, I saved so much time! The other thing is to click onto your own name (2Cthe REALme) if you posted something on another thread and now you can't find it. So re challenges: I like the idea of year-end challenge, but I do better on ones that last 3-4 weeks. It would help me to have a Thanksgiving target, and a New Year's target. we could each think about a joint goal--pounds lost, hours exercised, etc., based on what each of us wants to do--or we could separately say what we want to accomplish, and report on that as part of our check-in. So that's what I mean by a challenge. But I'm open to alternate suggestions! I did well on my last Stickk challenge (take time to breathe everyday). It really got me through these last crazy weeks. Okay, no personals today. My feet feel like ice blocks, I'm going home! judy |
