Just a minute to checvk in...yaaay, Auntie!:carrot::carrot::carrot:

Marie, I'm glad that you're a football fan, too. I will probably miss most of MNF tonight, but since my team (the Browns) will certainly lose, it's probably just as well.

Our stafft retreat is at a lovely beach house, and while we are going to be working hard, I am stealing time for walks on the beach (avoiding the large, numerous and territorial crabs) and sat in the hot tub last night....and trying to be a 'vegetable-tarian' again.

Just a quick hello. My arm is very sore and doesn't seem to be getting better. I need to get it seen to after my surgery on Wednesday. From what I gather from WebMD etc., it's probably a torn rotator cuff or bursitis. I have very little range of motion and it hurts like heck! Does anybody know where I can get a body transplant? Wish me luck for my sinus surgery/septoplasty - I'll check back in when I'm up to it.

auntie g 10-13-2008 09:28 PM

Another shorts day here, so weird. Of course it's going to drop 30 degrees by the weekend, when I'll be taking my nephew out to the pumpkin patch hayride as part of his b-day shopping day. As long as it's not raining I guess I shouldn't complain.

Yesterday I threw a bunch of chicken tenders in the crockpot with powdered soup mix, and although it's a lot of sodium, it was soooo good. I always have a terrible time with chicken getting dried out, but this stayed nice and moist, and it was still moist as leftovers today. Shocking! And awesome!

Marie, whoa! Knocking down a wall seems pretty major! I guess you've got yourself a handyman husband? Hope that heel is healing...

Judy, ahhhh, a beach house and a hot tub! What more can a girl ask for? Watch out for those crabs!

Penny, good luck with the sinus surgery, and I hope your shoulder calms down soon. My BIL had surgery for a torn rotator cuff, and he's out of work for at least 6-8 weeks, then he'll start physical therapy. Of course his job is rather physical, and that's where he damaged himself, but still, it seems like quite an ordeal. :dizzy: Feel better!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

Marie 10-14-2008 02:21 PM

Hi everyone.

Judy, my you were wrong!!!! You're Browns did win. :carrot: Enjoy your relaxation. I love walking on the beach. It's so relaxing.

Penny, good luck with your surgery. I hope that it goes well and you find an answer for your shoulder.

Auntie, a friend of mine, long long time ago, used to boil chicken. I remembered that last Friday and I cut up a chicken breast and boiled it. Then at the end, I dumped the water and added about 1/4 c of salsa. I rolled it in a 50 cal tortilla with a teaspoon of sour cream and 1 T of 2% mont jack cheese. It was awesome. Moist as you say. So be creative with the boiling. My friend was wise years ago even though the idea was disgusting to me. It's the seasonings that make the chicken great.

My toe is ok and my heel so-so. I guess I can't feel too bad as Penny is in worse shape than me. I did skip exercising this morning. I will ride my bike this evening. I did get up to exercise, then snuggled with Kai on the guest bed. I guess I can see a downside to a guest room.:D

Mr Scale is being normal and food has been on target.

DH has the walls down, and started drywalling the ceiling and the outside wall. The floor will be the icky one and I said I wasn't going to crawl around and help. He said that was ok. I will hand him the boards and retrieve tools. And yes, auntie, he's ridiculously handy. Perhaps in this instance, too handy. But now that the wall is gone, I really do like how it looks.

Howdy all! Hope everyone's hanging in there, and healing up! I ate a LOT of spinach the past 2 days, but I don't feel like Popeye. I tried a spinach casserole recipe (I think it's from Hungry Girl), and it was pretty good, but not quite as good as I would like. Still a little too spinach-y . Oh, it's so hard to enjoy the green stuff!

I've been eating completely on track this week, but having the old PMS bloat, so I feel out of control, even though I'm not. I'm hoping to find time this weekend to make some veggie soup in the crockpot, since the weather's going to cool down again.

Marie, I used to boil chicken all the time years ago, too. In recent years I've only done it for my puppy girl. That nasty scum that floats to the top of the pot is so icky, but I guess I could skim it off and try to block it out of my mind.:p

How's that house coming along? I could use some drywalling done, so when your hubby's finished with yours, send him this way!:D

Marie 10-16-2008 05:00 PM

Hi auntie, I think DH doesn't want to do more than he already took on. His plane building is on hold while he does house stuff. It is looking really nice though. I like it very open. I think the redoing of the floor will make him testy. ;)

I know what you mean about being totally on track but feel like you're out of control. We had a district office boss day luncheon pot luck yesterday and I had a tiny sampling of a few items. I usually don't have more than one or two things at a meal to keep the cals down. But I had like 4 green beans, a 1 tablespoon of a potatoes, etc. I again way over estimated the cals and planned on a lo-cal working dinner but ended up not having dinner. So I was low in cals yesterdya, but I feel "indulgent" because of the veer from my norm.

I worked 12 hours yesterday (and will today as well). I have Friday off for working the two evening. I had a little speech (go my own paragraph in our local newspaper - aka the lying rag - although they did get this one correct) last night and had to be here. During parent conferences, we have the option to work in the evenings on the two days and have the Friday off. I'm the only one in our office doing it. So tomorrow I'm free....

I walked 20 minutes yesterday - to the grocery store for a fountain drink. today I rode my bike and did the toning workout. Food on track or a little low. Mr Scale is now below what it was last saturday. So that's good. It's slow, but the weight it starting to come off. A co-worker noticed today. My reaction was I still was 10 pounds over last year but I thanked her instead. :dizzy:

Marie

auntie g 10-16-2008 07:27 PM

Well, Marie, I guess it's good for your husband that you live on the other side of the country! Now, is he building planes, or building a building for a plane? I guess he's got his hands full! And nobody needs a testy husband. Mine, unfortunately, is very involved with an unmentionable topic (regarding the event that happens the first Tuesday in November), and I've had
enough :devil::s::rolleyes::sp::headache::tantrum::bomb:
:yikes::rollpin: to last a looooong time!

You've had a couple really long days there! But yay! for a Friday off! I'm surprised more people wouldn't take that option.

Yay, too, for your co-worker noticing your weight loss. You can't think about what it was a year ago, when you get a compliment, take it! As long as we keep moving in the right direction now, it's all good!

Oh yeah, my neighbor just a got a new puppy - a black labradoodle. Soooo cute! Reminds me of my Jess when she was a baby. I almost forgot how sharp those baby teeth are- I think that's why they have to be so cute! ;)

Off to TV land- have a great Friday!

Hey I am finally back. Got home tues. but its been pretty nonstop sense then. At work and home. I am totally excited about this Christmas!!!
My kids are booked to fly home on 12/22 - 1/5 oh how pleased we are. That was super news to come home to on tues from our long weekend away. Our time away was fun the weather great and the cabin cozy with a fireplace etc.. My dieting stratagies haven't been so great. Now I will get serious as I want to look good when the kids get home and then eat some cookies with them. My little gs turns 1 in November one month before his arrival here. My son hasn't been home for Christmas in 2 years and can't wait to play in the snow with the kids and his own son. We are just thrilled. The hubby and I will have a little one in the house too for christmas morning how special that will be. I am going to purchase a little train to go around the christmas tree. Fun fun! I am scheduled now for time off from 12/24-1/2. So some special time can be spent with everyone. This was the best gift ever!!
So now I have good reason to get moving on this healthier lifestyle. Motivation of this sort always helps me. I am still awaiting to hear what kind of idea the boss has about my future. She has given little hits but nothing yet today she asked me to review someone elses books to help her out and then in return will give me 2.5 hrs off next friday. Now that was nice. I am going to a halloween party on sunday for 2 hrs so I think next friday will be a half a day for me. Like those little perks.
Marie sounds like your in for a long weekend how nice for you.
You girls whats up with the medical stuff. We got to get healthy again. So hope the homemade soups etc. will be helpful. I had mine tonight chicken noodle homemade. I almost bought crusty bread then decided not to. I had a lunchoen at the conference today it was so good and pretty healthy too. So all in all not a washed out day. But no exercise too much sitting around listening to people chat.
Well I will ck in again on friday got to go see the new picture of the gs they just emailed me. Take care.

cckayac 10-17-2008 06:52 AM

First here today. Well I am off to work soon. Thank goodness its friday and today I have my eval. at least thats scheduled maybe I will get word on what she has been thinking about my future? I had a hard time falling asleep last night wondering and thinking. I am pretty happy with what I do now and even if its offered to me to advance up should I? So much to think about if it is an option and who knows at this point if it is for yet or ever will be? At any rate something to wait and see which way the chips fall as they say. Hope everyone is doing well today. I am takings some oatmeal with me to make at work and then having lunch out as I will be out of the office from lunch time until the end of my day. Thank goodness I get out early today due to working our open house the other night it pays off to do the little extras at times politically and hour wise. Take care and have a great day...

auntie g 10-17-2008 07:08 AM

Hi Carol, and welcome back! Glad you had a nice trip and you have the Christmas visit to look forward to! Hope your work decision is an easy one!

Marie 10-17-2008 11:21 AM

I am very happy it is weekend. Kodiak has made me pay for working two evenings in a row. Perhaps when I bring my DGS home later today he'll forgive me. He loves DGS and DGS loves him. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, DGS is going to visit. Apparently he's been at his other grandparents for a while and I get him for the weekend. In many ways I don't think it's good that he's there so often and for so long, but then, he gets to play outside like a maniac whereas his parents don't go outside unless it's unavoidable. So little boy and are going to play. DH has guard weekend so much of the time it'll be just the two of us. I'm contemplating bringing him to the local pool since it's supposed to be in the mid-70's this afternoon. But I'd have to buy all his gear so we'll probably do something else. It would be fun though.

Carol, welcome back and congrats on the Christmas visit news. That will be wonderful for you. Good luck getting back on track.

Auntie, he's building a plane in his workshop (a big building in our back yard - keep in mind I live very rural). He started that back in July and next Friday we're going up to Portland to pick up the wing kits. ($$$-eeks) But he has loads of home improvement still to do. He did rewire the telephone so the DSL/network stuff isn't on my counter. I reset it up in my craft room.

I didn't lose/didn't gain this week. But that's ok. I HATE all those articles "Just cut out 100 casls a day and you'll lose 20 pounds a year". Such a bunch of bunk. Maybe if you have a metabolism of a teenage boy. I did go over my 1500 cals a week and a half ago - up to 1700. Then the next two days I was 200 under for a net of less than the 1500 cal average. So how in the world can I have only lost about 10 pounds in 2.5 months??? Bunk, I tell you. Only ones body will give the weight away after a lot of prying with a crowbar or perhaps liposuction.:D

Some day this week all my new glass and a beautiful new grinder arrived by UPS. YEAH!!! I plan to unpack it later this morning.

Oh Carol, how did you like Spark's The Lucky One? I finished the audiobook last night on my drive home. I listened to the last chapter and epilogue driving home in the dark. Gave it a different feeling. So now I'm going back to the Catherine Coulter FBI series. I'm really enjoying them.

Marie - It's great you'll be able to spend some quality time with your darling GS. I think losing 10.5 lbs. in 2.5 months is fantastic! :carrot: :dancer: If you lose too fast it usually comes back quicker. Have fun with your glass work.

Auntie G - Those funny faces you posted made me smile :D. The only way I really like spinach is in a souffle and that has lots of calories. I find it tastes a bit better with a pinch of nutmeg and a pat of butter. Fresh spinach which is barely wilted tastes better than frozen to me.

Carol - How exciting for you to get to have your family visit for Christmas - you must be on cloud 9 :cloud9:. I hope your evaluation went well - I'm sure it did as you are a real asset to your organization and truly care about your clients.

Judy - Your staff retreat sounds lovely - it must be just what you need right now to decompress. Avoid those crabs unless they are dipped in butter!

I'm feeling a lot better 48 hrs. after my surgery. It went well and now that the swelling is going down I feel like I have huge amounts of air going up my nose when I breathe. An odd side effect is that I have an increased sense of smell and taste. The day after my surgery I walked around the yard in my slippers and dressing gown sniffing all the different scents - it was wonderful! Also, everything tastes more delicious (this could be dangerous). It's strange, because some people lose their sense of smell and taste for a while after the surgery. My arm is not quite as sore after a couple of days of bed rest, so I'm hoping that will continue to heal. If not, I'll go to my orthopedist next week.

Have a great weekend everyone! :)

Hi Ladies I am a First time poster in this thread.

I am so bummed out. My scale broke and my new one is showing 5 lbs higher than my other scale and I was going off that scale for my weight loss. Now my other scale was showing that I was gaining weight too. I got all the way down to 241 and without changing my eating patterns, I went up 3 lbs. I had been doing alot of exercise and toning, so I stopped for a couple days and also stopped counting points just to see if I could jump start my weight loss again. Now I am having a hard time getting back on track. I feel hungry all the time. Blech.

Oh well, there is always tomorrow. Hope all your days are going well. Keep up the good work, remember you ARE worth it.

judydc 10-17-2008 07:07 PM

I'm back! Sort of. I hope to set up my home office on Saturday, then I'll know if I finally have internet access at home again. I could check in on my BlackBerry, but it's not as much fun, scrolling scrolling scrolling and still missing your funny graphics.

Penny, I'm glad your are feeling so good about your surgery. I am thinking that you'll enjoy gardening even more, now that you can get the full olfactory experience. My arm is giving me fits, too. I fell on it a few months ago, then all the moving...and I remembered that once my trackball mouse died a few months ago, I've been reaching up un-ergonomically to use the touchpad on my laptop. I use a regular keyboard on a tray, when my laptop's docked on my desk. So I might have been stressing my arm and wrist this way as well.

Marie, I'm glad that you got positive feedback from a co-worker on your weightloss. I hope you have lots of fun with your grandson this weekend.

Hey there, Luvin! It's good to meet you. I hope you don't get too down on yourself. Noting natural moves in a straight line. I know that I've gained weight this past month, due to so many life and work upheavals. I'll get back on the scale next Thursday and work my way back. We can do it!

Auntie, I hope the hayride is fun. I don't think I've ever done that.

Carol, I hope that your evaluation went well!

I'm exhausted. The retreat was great but tiring. i have a lot of work to do, plus a backlog of volunteer work, plus much of my stuff at home is still in boxes. Saturday I have to come into my office for a bit, but maybe I'll splurge on a matinee before going home to do more unpacking. One last trip, then I'm done for a few weeks :D. Sunday I fly back to San Francisco, for more meetings through Wednesday.

Geez, it's late! I'm going home!

bye--judy

Hi, first time poster as well. I need help! I lost ten pounds then got off track. I've been overeating and can't bring myself to start exercising again. Everyday I tell myself "tomorrow I'll start fresh" but I never do and at this point I feel like I'm never going to get back on track. I'm afraid to weigh myself because I know how upsetting that number is going to be :(. Any advice? All of you have lost so much weight already, you're all so inspirational.
