Happy Muggy Thursday from Indy....

Probably won't walk today as everyone would melt. Sheesh. Our high is 90 degrees and 150 percent humid.

Tonight I am having a Silpada Jewelry party. I love Silpada jewelry, but it is quite expensive, therefore I am having a party to obtain FREE jewelry.
It is all sterling silver stuff.

Not doing personals today, I am leaving at 2:00 and have much to do here at work.

Have a marvelous day all...

Love and Hugs

diyana 06-26-2008 09:02 AM

Hi Annie -- Good luck and have fun with your Silpada party. I've been to one. It is beautiful jewelry and very high quality. I'm not much into jewelry, but I know women who love Silpada!

:sunny: Summer Bouillabaisse :sunny:

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large bulb fennel, thinly sliced
4 stalks celery, thinly sliced
4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1 cup dry white wine
1 pound cod fillet, skin removed; cut into 2-inch pieces
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 pounds tomatoes, chopped
1 pound mussels, scrubbed
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
Kosher salt and pepper
2 tablespoons fresh tarragon, chopped

Heat the oil in a large saucepan or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the fennel, celery, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly tender, 3 to 4 minutes.

Add the wine and bring to a boil. Add the cod, shrimp, and tomatoes and cook, covered, for 3 minutes. Add the mussels and cook, covered, until the cod and shrimp are cooked through and the mussels have opened, 3 to 5 minutes.

Stir in the vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Sprinkle with the tarragon before serving.

Substitution: This light French seafood stew works well with a variety of fish. Sea bass, flounder, and halibut are tasty alternatives to cod, so buy what looks best at the market.

Morning ladies! I have been busy already...we set up our tent and left it up overnight, and it rained, so there was water in the tent...I spent the morning drying it out, then DH helped me move it into the garage so it can continue to dry before we pack it for the trip.

Have to run to the laundromat to clean the sleeping bags...will get to that this afternoon. Thankfully Dh is off tomorrow so we will have some extra time to pack and clean the house...will try to hop on tomorrow and Sat before we leave.

LAter chicas!

I've been telling myself that I need to find a sponsor or program so that I could be accountible to them not just depend on myself. I really like Weight Watchers and there is one in Jonesboro. I'm starting next week. I have 2 doctor's appointments then so I would not be spending the money foolishly on gas. I just remembered that I have a weight watchers cook book. May pt it to use this week end.

The fluid pills are working. Weight this morning was back down to 183.6.

Mel
Sounds like another good recipe to try. I've just now bought the ingredients for one of the first recipes.

My stomach is growling and I have not eaten breakfast. Wasn't hungry.

Shad 06-26-2008 06:12 PM

Morning all,
Just a quickie for me as I have some issues to deal with at work.

Michelle - sultana's are sort of raisins. Presumably they come from a different grape. They have a completely different flavour but raisins are fine in Muesli as well.

Bought the tiles for the splashback yesterday. DS2 says he will lay them today, but let's not hold our breath. He went out for a big bike ride yesterday and hasn't yet come home. Before you all gasp and tut, he took the ute with the bike in the back so I knew then that he was going into the mountain bike country and he probably has a tent and sleeping bag in there as well. I am not his keeper and he is entitled to time out as are we all.

Ceejay - glad to hear the pills are finally working. Goodonya

Mel - another interesting recipe - thanks. No I did not eat the apple and the onion together. One was for lunch and the other for dinner! Sheeesh.

Okay - off to deal with the warm and fuzzies. Be back later for a sanity check.

MELODY525 06-26-2008 07:35 PM

Morning chicks -

Hey Mel - you stole, um I mean "borrowed" my kitty  Enjoy your time with Jen and Richie. And happy cooking you Julia Child you! DH chose a pool company, went and gave them half down (a consider sum of money) and now they will ignore us for 4 to 6 weeks. Good chance no pool this season, except maybe to dip your feet in.

So Shad - what color did you decide on with the backsplash? Neutral again or some jazzy red like the hot tomato you are?

Good luck with WW Ceejay. Many people say the price of the weekly meetings is worth the accountability of the weigh in.

Ellen, Annie have fun on your trips.

Isn't it near time for Summerfest Michelle?

Sorry to be so abrupt, just need to be in a hurry today. It's Friday :yay: Next week we get a long weekend  Debating about using a precious vacation day to turn that from 3 days into a 4 day weekend. I guess DH and I have to figure out if we're going anywhere. I would love to head down to Alabamba (yes that's what we call it, not a typo) and head over to Gulf Shores and get a place on the beach for 3 days and just sit on the sand and listen to the surf and watch the stars at night. Guess it would probably be better for me if we went when all the little noisy kids were off the beach and back at school. Not that I mind noisy kids but when you're looking for a quiet get away, Disneyland is not the place to be.

Gotta run. Love to the chicks - sorry I didn't get to everyone

Have a great day today everyone.

HERE'S DR. BISHOP'S RECIPE FOR THE WEEK:
http://www.fotosearch.com/bthumb/BLD.../jg0222151.jpg
Whole-Wheat Pasta with Green Beans, Ricotta and Lemon

This delicious summer pasta is the perfect balance with creamy ricotta, crunchy green beans and juicy cherry tomatoes.

Ingredients
2 cups cooked whole-wheat pasta (recommended: linguine)

½ cup part-skim ricotta

3 tablespoons olive oil

½ pound green beans, trimmed and halved lengthwise (recommended: French)

1 clove garlic, chopped

Salt

Freshly ground black pepper

1 cup halved cherry tomatoes

1 lemon, zested
Cooking Instructions:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the pasta and cook until tender but still firm to the bite, stirring occasionally, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain pasta reserving 1 cup of the cooking water. Transfer the hot pasta to a large bowl and add the ricotta cheese. Toss to combine.
Meanwhile, in a large, heavy skillet, warm the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the green beans, garlic, salt, and pepper and sauté for 4 minutes. Add 1 cup of the pasta cooking liquid and continue until tender, about 4 more minutes. Add the pasta with ricotta to the pan with the green beans and toss to combine. Add the tomatoes and gently toss. Transfer to a serving plate and top with lemon zest. Serve.
Makes 4 servings

Worldly Chickies...where we going in JULY???

diyana 06-27-2008 04:10 PM

Happy Friday ladies --

Just a very quick check in....It's been a crazy busy day today. Luckily just a couple hours 'till the weekend.

I went to the gym last night and did 1/2 hour of cardio dance and over an hour of strength training. I sure did work up a sweat, but it felt great -- just a little sore last night and today.

I'm not sure what we're doing tonight and this weekend. It'll probably depend on the weather.

I don't have a suggestion for where to go in July....but I do think it would be fun to Jazz it Up whereever we go? Or get Jiggy with it?

Happy - I am using a precious vacation day to turn next weekend into a 4 day weekend. Actually, my company is giving us Thursday afternoon off, so I only have to use a 1/2 vacation day to get a whole day off - which made it a very easy decision. It is Summerfest time, but I'm not sure if DH and I will get there this year. We're feeling very spontaneous lately...especially since the weather has been unpredictable. That's a bummer that you might not have your pool at all. :(

Ceejay - Good luck with WW. I really like doing the flexible points plan.

Shad - I can't wait to see pics of the backsplash when it's in.

Annie - Wow! $400 of free Silpada! Good for you!! I too am tired of rain. :(

Mel - The pasta recipe sounds WONDERFUL! I'm definitely going to have to try that!.

Gotta get back to my projects.

Love and hugs,

Ruthxxx 06-27-2008 05:40 PM

Quickie - Shad's post in South Beach poked my conscience.

This has been one heck of a busy month and I'm heading into Fair prep this weekend aith a whirlwind of stuff happening in the next week.

My niece Anne announced TODAY that she wants to marry her Australian sheep farmer next frassing Saturday. My sister is freaking but Anne says "Just call Aunt Ruth. She'll pull it together, Mum!" I did get them a minister and it's going to be on the lawn at Joan's farm with only a dozen guests so.....Aunt Ruth can pull this together with garden flowers, lots of wine and a catered meal. Anne and Stuart were to get married last Sept. but decided they didn't know each other well enough. Since then they've had a baby so I guess they know each other well enough now!

My new dog, Disney, is working out really well. She is a sweetheart and, aside from some terrier barking, has excellent manners. We've been going to Obedience training on Sundays - unfortunately it reminds her of playtime at the shelter and she can't figure out why nobody plays. Her "boyfriend" is Manny, an Irish wolfhound! I must get pictures.

So this month has been busy - not much gardening because we've had rain every darned day! I did get two quilts finished and a couple of other projects started. My darned car gave me grief - new alternator and $525 to get it fixed.

Once again I'm apologizing for not being in here regularly. A problem person on the Beach and a tidal wave of newbies have kept me hopping.

I'll search you out in July and try to keep up better.

Shad 06-27-2008 09:31 PM

Morning all,
Well it is nearly afternoon really and I have been busy at the gym - another 7k and 530calories done. Not that it seems to be doing any good on the weight loss front and I am sad to say I am back to 79.6Kg AGAIN. I will really have to get serious or move on with this thing.

DS2 has gone to a wedding out the back of beyond. It will take him around 3 hours to get there so he has borrowed a camper trailer and will spend the night out under the stars and come home some time tomorrow.

The tiles I bought were:
White ripple 200x200mm (8x8" more or less) and some glass tile sheets in both smooth and ripple in a colour called Mocha. Now if you look into it carefully it is a sort of brownish shade. The surface has some sort of pearlised effect because with black it looks black, with white it appears silver and with the charcoal grey benchtop it looks greyish. It should tie the floor, cupboards and benchtops together hopefully. I'll take some photos as I go. Might get some of it done today.

Mel is back into the recipes again. I thought she was giving us wine at first seeing the grapes hanging on the vine. Pity she wasn't. Ruth and I would have been there immediately if not sooner. Recipes look good. Might try the pasta out one of these days. Although I really must stop eating and eating and eating.

ceejay - Weight watchers is a good program. Hope you have lots of success there.

Happy - Have fun if you go down to Alabama, Sounds like a good weekend. All I get for my next long weekend is Jakarta. Sounds like fun. What a pain about the pool.

Annie - good stuff on the jewellery party. You'll have to let us know what you get. Who knows where we will end up in July - how about Jonestown??

Michelle - Hope all those projects are now at the finale stage. It is time for you to wind down for a while from work. We could do with the rain you lot are getting. Just send it on over will you please?

Ruth - didn't mean to make you feel guilty, just had to read that joke and make a comment. Who was the bloke you were with?????
Wedding is on again is it? I guess the folks won't be coming down to Aus this year either??? Not to worry, I am not in Perth anymore and it is just as far to Tasmania - well almost. Lovely place but.

Okay - I'm outa here and up a ladder to the hedge. Well past time I chopped that down. See ya.

ceejay52 06-27-2008 09:44 PM

Hi Ruth
Ouch on the car repairs.

Happy
Your trip to the gulf sounds good. I told myself that I wanted to go to the gulf and to both the pacific and atlantic ocean's before I'm 60.

Annie
Wow, that was a good jewelry party!

Mel
Would you believe that I've never eaten a cornish hen.

Michelle, Shad and Ellen  Have a good week end.

Next week end is my 4 day week end. My aunt called me today to tell me that my uncle is getting his two brothers together for week end. My cousin is supposed to be here that week end also. I'll need to go for a visit.

Had my hair high lighted today. There's more high lights than I wanted but hey it works to hide the gray. Also had my hair cut. It was needing it.
Mowed the lawn for about 30 minutes this afternoon and also did some weed eating. I have never let my yard go this long with out mowing. Tomorrow I'll be mowing the back yard. I'm ready for the shower.

Shy Moment 06-27-2008 10:31 PM

cee
hope you have a nice visit with your family. This rain. I can't keep up with the grass lol.

Oh the fleas are bad this year. We had the house done by orcan because the groomer said it must be loaded. Haven't even see one but on the dog but I had it done anyway. Put this stuff all over the lawn to kill fleas. Poor little Bella. No matter what I do she is covered with them. Even the revolution doesn't seem to take care of them. I am at my wits end about the fleas. They are driving her nuts.

Shad
Please, let us see pics when you are done. I love to see remodel jobs.

Ruth
Sounds like you have have had a lot going on.

Di
Hi

Annie
You all can come along lol. In July I am going to watch fireworks lol. Nice going on your party.

Happy
Hi

Have a couple more days around here and I will be all done with the house, laundry and the yard ( if it stops raining long enough ). Hubby is home and I told the kids the only thing they were allowed to do for the next two days was breath unless I told them differently lol.

MELODY525 06-28-2008 08:28 AM

 RUTH...I WAS JUST THINKING OF YOU THE NIGHT BEFORE YOU POSTED. I SAW THE BEACH DISTURBANCE. WEIGHT LOSS CAN BE A TOUCHY THING. GLAD DISNEY IS WORKING OUT. HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER

NICHELLE...SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE HERE WANTS THE SAME 4 DAY WEEKEND TOO :encore: BUT SOMEONE HAS TO MAN OUR OFFICE AND IT CAN'T BE ME...I CAN'T ANSWER ALL THE PHONE INQUIRIES SO I AM SAFE!!!. HOPE YOUR 4 DAYS NEXT WEEK PROVE RESTFUL. :beach:

SHAD...THE COLOR COMBO SOUNDS VERY NICE AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO PIC WHEN YOU'RE DONE. HAPPY TILING!! IT WILL GIVE YOU SOMETHING OTHER THAN WORK TO DO WHILE THE WINTRY WINDS BLOW AND THE SNOW MOUNTS UP OUTSIDE YOUR HOME :brr:
AS FAR AS BODY WEIGHT...I AM ABOUT BURNT OUT ON DIET PLANS, GOALS, YADA, YADA, YADA.....:faint:

CEEJAY...THEY ARE THE SAME AS CHICKENS TO ME BUT WITH MUCH LESS MEAT! JEN SAID I SHOULD JUST MAKE IT WITH A CHICKEN AND HAVE MORE!
SO YOU GOT YOUR HAIR AND YARD MOWED AT THE SAME TIME...AND HIGHLIGHTED TO BOOT! GOOD FOR YOU! THE NEXT WEEKEND SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO BE FESTIVE WITH ALL THE UNCLES AND COUSIN!

RENNIE...HOPE BY THE END OF THE WEEKEND THE KIDS ARE STILL BREATHING!!  HOPE TOO YOU FIND A CURE FOR THE FLEAS. WHEN I LIEVED IN THE NCOUNTRY, WE HAD TO PUT FLEA POWDER AND SPRAY UNDER ALL OUR RUGS, BEDS AND FURNITURE. EVEN UNDER THE CUSHIONS. THE NOT ONLY ATE THE CATS BUT JEN AND I AS WELL :yikes:  GOOD LUCK!

 TO ELLEN...HOPE YOU ARE FEELING ALRIGHT KIDDO!

:cofdate: AS FOR ME.....NO ONE IS PLANNED TO BE HERE NOW. ALL BETS ARE OFF AND THE OFFICES ARE LOCKED. I THINK THE STEAMY WEATHER IS HELPING PEOPLE TO CANCEL! THAT IS FINE WITH ME. THE KIDS ARE SAFELY AT THE NEW ABODE AND LOVING IT. THE "YDD" ASKED FOR MY IM LAST WEEK AND IM'S ME EVERY NIGHT AND MORNING WITH HER NEW LAPTOP :faint: IT'S CUTE BUT I NEEDED ONE MORE PERSON ADDED TO MY MORNINGS AND NIGHTS LIKE A HOLE IN THE HEAD. I THINK SHE IS MISSING HER "ABUELA"...GRANDMOTHER. THIS IS HER FIRST VISIT UP HERE SINCE THE FUNERAL.
I TOLD JEN TO TAKE EXTRA SPECIAL CARE WITH THEM THIS YEAR. I CAN SEE THE SADNESS IN THE CHILD'S EYES. I AM SURE WHEN THE YDS ARRIVES MONDAY HE WILL BE THE SAME WAY. SIGH.
I FIND IT IRONIC THAT THE :queen: QUEEN OF DRAMA, WHO IS 61 YRS OLD NOW AND IS IN SEARCH OF THE QUIET LIFE, IS CONSTANTLY BEING BOMBARDED WITH EVEN MORE DRAMA! THIS MUST BE PAYBACK FOR ALL THE DRAMA I DUMPED ON OTHER PEOPLE DURING THE COURSE OF MY LIFE :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: OH WELL.
I AM DOING A FLYLADY THING AND SHE IS FINISHING UP IN THE BEDROOM. IT WILL TAKE ME ALL WEEKEND TO SORT IT OUT!!!:tantrum: BUT THEN IT IS WAY TOO MUGGY FOR RIDING :scooter:
HAPPY SATURDAY/SUNDAY :sunny:

ceejay52 06-28-2008 11:26 AM

Mel
I need to be jazzed and joyous for awhile and meeting up with Shad in Jakarta sounds fun. Count me in.
Wish I could say that I could lock up the plant up and stay home tomorrow. I sure can't answer all the question's. I just refer them to the main office on Monday.

Reenie
Poor Bella. Does she wear a flea collar? Send the rain that you don't want down to Arkansas we need it.

I'm baking southern fried chicken this week end from the WW cook book.

This place seems desserted this morning. Must be due to the rain. I've got a couple of window's open. I love the smell after the rain.

Only for one night with no repeat
Maybe you'd go away and never call
And a taste of honey is worse than none at all
Oh little girl

In that case I don't want no part
Well that would only break my heart
Well if you feel like loving me
If you got the notion

I am not getting even one bite so that means they aren't in the house they are staying on Bella. She sleeps in my bed, how that happened I have no idea lol she has her own little wonderful bed. If it were big enough I would sleep in the darn thing lol. One flea within a foot of me and I am eaten alive lol. We did treat the yard and I called an exterminator but they said if I wasn't being bitten then I didn't need to do the house.

Cee
Flea collars are about worthless. The flea stuff we use for her is working but it is the fleas them selfs she is allergic too. Just them walking on her before they die make her itch, poor thing. I take her Monday for a shot to help with that. If it rains one more time I am going to scream SCREAMMMMMMMM it is going to rain off and on all weekend. She has such a pretty long coat but I am going to have her put in a puppy cut until we get this flea thing in hand. The groomer said that was probably the best bet because it is easier to flea bath her until the fleas are not so bad around here. I was really happy to find a groomer right down the street and she charges 35 dollars for the flea bath and the grooming. Sigh, what I give up for my animals lol. I only get to baby my nails once a month now instead of every week. A budget is a budget. Hubby says I can have anything I want as long as it fits into the budget I have set for us.

Shad 06-28-2008 05:42 PM

Morning all,
Just time for a quick entry before I go to gym for the morning workout. I'm still stiff and sore from yesterdays run so today will be weights and strength. Speaking of which, the gym is 'considering' replacing the now dead in the water body balance class with a 'strength resistance' class. Don't ask what it is all about, but if it goes ahead, I may find out - or I may not, who knows?

Ceejay - haircut and colour sounds good. One thing about streaks or foils they do hide the grey bits which is good. Happy mowing. I'm up a ladder for a fair amount of today trimming the hedge It has gotten out of control somewhat. Good for privacy, not good for trimming.

Happy - you sure you want to go to Jakarta?? Air is foul, pool is good but you have the decision whether to stay under and drown or surface and choke to death. Your choice!!

Mel - I must has missed the Beach disturbance. Drat - I always miss out on the fun bits. By the time they are finished and done with, I on to another day and everything is swept under the mat at that time. Just goes to show - every thread has its moments.

Roseblush :-

Happy Birthday.
It's my sisters birthday today too. I'd better get on the phone after gym and say hello, get on with it etc.etc.

Rennie - bad news about the fleas. Poor Shad used to be allergic to them too. Nearly tore half his fur out trying to get rid of them. Vet used to give him a shot every year, then we had to keep up with the Advantage or Revolution or whatever.

Okay - gotta go. Gym calls. I'm dragging my feet.

KEEPING THE SENIORS COOL AND HAPPY. SURPRISINGLY A LOT OF THEM ARE FINALLY LISTENING ABOUT THE AIR QUALITY THIS YEAR. We put bella on revolution because it does worms too and thought it must be great the vet sells it. Well, I am going back to advantage, they have one out now that does worms too. Part of the problem is the revolution takes a bit longer to kill the fleas and poor thing digs her selfs to death. Yes, she goes in Thursday, first day they could get her in, to have a shot. Winkie is doing great. The tumor was begin and he gets his stitches out Thursday too. He was dippy for two days after surgery and I even had to scold Bella because she just wouldn't leave him alone. All he wanted to do was lay on my lap and Bella wanted nothing to do with that because she wants on my lap lol. I love that little dog and am surprised how attached I have become to her so quickly but lets get serious my cat is my cat lol.

I have loved the heat this year. So nice to have some of the weight off. Everyone is complaining and I am loving it. Did have to turn the air on for a bit because the dry wall we put in the bathroom wasn't drying right. I turned the air off to my den and opened the doors and Windows. Oh, how I hate air conditioning. You have to remember this house is full of doors lol. Just in my den there are two outside doors, a window over one of the doors and a set of bay windows. Telling you, the people that remodeled this house were door and window crazy lol.

Happy birthday blush

Oh we are already planning our trip to the state fair. We were going to go see Charlie Daniels and The oak ridge boys but wolf is a real Ted Nugent fan ( wonder if he is going to come out on stage riding a buffalo lol he is a real hunting advocate and has a great book "Kill it and grill it " I think it is called ). Is going to be an adult only trip since the kids said they weren't interested this year. The way it looks we will be the youngest going lol have a lot of the old dears that said they would really enjoy going.

:bday2you: Roseblush. Blessings to you for a fun day!

I started a post yesterday but DH had me doing something and when I went to go an look it up on the Internet, it used the window I was typing in and I lost my post in the end. Then I had to leave the computer and didn't have time to go repost.

We got new cell phones Friday night. Hard to pick those things out. I don't need the fancy bells and whistles - just a phone in case of emergency or if I need to get in touch with DH. But you get what you pay for. Some of the cheap phones seem like they will break in half after 3 uses. We did see one that was of a good quality but it was at the high end. I told DH I would try and be a good wife and let's get the cheaper ones for now. There is a 30 day return policy so if they don't work too well, we can exchange them and at least know we TRIED to save some money. The town we live in is very pro-residential. They don't want alot of traffic and businesses here so they say they can't build the cell towers tall enough to get good reception here. And it's hilly in the neighborhood so if you live in the "valley" like we do, reception is difficult. New phones meant a day of looking up things and figuring out how to use the blasted thing. Not so bad now that I know how to use it but geez, there were some pretty frustrating moments. That took up most of the morning. Then I went outside to do some planting. Realized I needed some good potting soil to add to the pots as well as not being able to find my gardening tools  So off to the store we went. Came back and worked in the yard for the rest of the afternoon. I was working up by the pool planting the baskets and was looking at the mess the pool is. I'm missing the pool this year. I have a swing up there and there's something serene about the cool blue water and gently swinging along with my eyes closed. DH planted his hybiscus and they are taking well. The rebloomed and he just went out to take some pictures. Our balloon flower is doing very well too, it's spreading it all directions and I'm trying to train it to crawl up the latticework on the shed. The yard is pretty in the summer but at DH says, it sure is alot of work. We still have to finish the rock wall in the front and everything I weeded this spring needs work again. I am having lots of problems with my foot - very painful. I think some tendons are messed up or something. At first I thought I had just worn a pair of shoes that irritated my foot but it's been getting steadily worse. I did call a podiatrist on Friday but the soonest I can get in is July 7. Yesterday when I came in from outside my foot was so painful I could hardly walk on it. Everything's falling apart :dunno:

Shy - I hate air conditioning too. If we could have 70 degrees and nice breezes all year round I'd love it. I have floor to ceiling windows which are very heavy - they won't stay open because of the weight of them and it kills me to only have a few windows open in the house. Good luck with the fleas. The vet just gave us Revolution instead of Advantage for the cat. The Advantage worked well. I was freaking out when the cat initially got fleas last year. Didn't want her in the house much less sleeping on the bed :yikes: DH was very careful about watching her and once we got her treated it was not an issue and we caught it before they got into the house.

It's good to hear you singing again Mel. Some songs are more fun than others. Last night I watched the movie Michael with John Travolta where he's the archangel Michael come down to earth for the last time. He was dancing to Chain of Fools. I just love that man  Is Jen still around? I thought they were leaving for the summer? Keep yourself inside and cool. I think as people get older, they tend to have less tolerance for the heat and humidity. Of course the seniors will never listen to you :nono:

Shad - you are making Jakarta sound not so fun. If I remember correctly, we generally had a hard time figuring out where to go in the J months. I'm all for just sitting in a Jacuzzi with umbrella drinks :lol3: We could Jazzercise our way through July and be dancin' fools too  The new tiles sound quite pretty. Waiting on pictures lady...

The hair sounds nice Ceejay - how did the chicken recipe turn out?

Have fun camping Ellen.

Glad to hear that Disney is working out well Ruth.

Annie - are you staying warm and dry?

Michelle must be busy with her projects and exercising. Or maybe she's being spontaneous with the DH

Time for me to get my arse in gear. Need to go look over Mel's recipes this past week for some menu ideas. Not sure what DH has in mind for the day. He has his Christmas T-shirt on with the Charlie Brown characters singing around the spindly little Christmas tree. Men and clothes. Just grab whatever is closest and put it on

Have a good Sunday ladies...

HERE'S ANOTHER ONE TO LOOK AT HAPPY...WE'RE GOING TO MAKE THIS WITH PORK CHOPS. I MADE THE OTHERS AND ALL WERE TASTY....EXCEPT WE DON'T EAT FISH SOUP SO I DID NOT MAKE THAT ONE!!! I MADE THE MONTEREY JACK CHEESE RECIPE TODAY. :hun:

http://i.timeinc.net/realsimple/i/p/...ners_2_158.jpg

Lamb Chops with Tomatoes and Olives

4 lamb loin chops (each about 1 1/2 inches thick)
1 teaspoon paprika
Kosher salt and pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 shallots, cut in half
4 plum tomatoes, cut into quarters
1/4 cup pitted kalamata olives
1/4 cup flat-leaf parsley leaves
1 baguette (optional)

Heat oven to 400° F.

Season the lamb with the paprika, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper.

Heat the oil over medium-high heat in an ovenproof skillet. Cook the lamb in the skillet until browned, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Add the shallots to the skillet.

Transfer the skillet to oven and cook the lamb to the desired doneness, 8 to 10 minutes for medium-rare.

Transfer the lamb to individual plates. Add the tomatoes, olives, and parsley to the hot skillet and toss to combine with the shallots. Serve with the lamb and baguette, if desired.

Tip: Paprika comes in several varieties, including sweet, hot, and smoked. Any type will work in this recipe, but if you opt for hot, use only 1/2 teaspoon.

Happy Birthday's to Shad and Nae.

I haven't tried any of Mel's recipes yet. I have my appetite set for southern fried chicken baked.

So far so good at work. Heard the weirdest noise a while ago. When I investigated the rail road people are gradeing the sides of the tracks. My first thought was a bad pump motor.

Talked to my sister who lives in Dallas, Tx last night. She's doing WW on line. She does have more will power than I do and not nearly the amount of weight that I have to lose. She told me I could use her for my face to face. I may just do that. I'll try it this week.

Me too but I said ok ok lets see Ted Nugent. Thrill for me lol but I always get my way so this time I am going to let him do what he wants. He gave me the choice and wouldn't have cared if we saw what I wanted to see.

happy
you find out about that foot and take care of yourself. I have had two cell phones in 8 years lol. I use it to make calls not listen to music, take pics or anything else. The only reason I got a new one was because they put that gps thing in and my old one didn't have it and I wanted blue tooth. I am on my phone probably 6 hours day lol. My daughter takes pics on my phone. I have no idea how to even take a pic lol.

Shad 06-29-2008 06:46 PM

Morning all,
DS2 got a new phone a while back. One of those that does everything except cook and wash. It has GPS and he has an annoying habit of telling me to turn left and right etc when I already know where I am going. The thing has a real turn off voice giving directions. When asked why we had to have the electronic equivalent of Mr T he replied that the other choice was a sexy sounding female. So - why not her? He doesn't take directions from women!!! He got a few from me that day I can tell you.
My phone is used very occasionally for making calls. More often it will ring with someone else making calls. Most often it is used as an Alarm clock.

So I should be sorting out the training schedule, but my brain has gone to sleep after my long walk this morning. I thought that instead of going down to the gym and trying to do cardio, I would go for a good long 40 minute walk along the walking paths here. Well what I thought would take me 40 minutes turned into 50 and my legs and feet hurt enough that I thought maybe I had done the 7km on the treadmill anyway. Up and down slopes, rough pathways, but at least I am done with exercising for today.

Did not get any tiling done this weekend. Maybe tonight. I've been clearing up out the back and trying to get the patio neat and tidy and clear of weeds which insist on popping up through the pavers. The hedge trimmer decided not to go yesterday so it will need to go to hedge trimmer hospital today. Hope the edge trimmer doesn't decide the same thing when I get that out later this week.

Okay - with that I better go and get on with something to earn the daily crust. I'll be back with personals (maybe) later on if the brain doesn't explode before then.

happy2bme 06-30-2008 09:05 AM

Good morning chicks,

I didn't sleep well at all last night so it's a sleepy one indeed for me. We stopped at the garden place yesterday and I picked up more flowers to plant in pots and a few here and there to fill in the garden. It's starting to look nice again. I was out at dusk and the mosquitos are ferocious. Of course it doesn't help that we have the pool sitting there stagnant. I keep hounding DH to drain it but the pool people say not to. Of course THEY don't have to deal with it for the next month, do they?

Can you believe another month has rolled through? Hard to believe half the year is over with. The days and months fly by but retirement never seems to get any closer.

So Shad, DH has a "turn fool" voiceover on his GPS - lol. I don't know if we can get GPS on the new phones but I can get Google Maps - screen's probably too small to see anything of much use tho :mag: And they charge for every little thing - cell bill will be over $100 a month adding this and that so no thanks. I just need a phone and DH wants a camera in case he needs to capture anything like an accident. He did however take some nice pictures of the hibiscus in bloom that he used for his background.

But I digress... Shad it sounds like you got an even better workout heading along the paths. You certainly went farther and with the uneven terrain worked harder too no doubt. And think of all that fresh air in the lungs! goodonyah! I did not know that hedge trimmers had a hospital - just heard about a mysterious graveyard. Hope the tools hold up. It's amazing how fast the little weedies pop up when you don't constantly keep up with them.

Shy - wow that's alot of phone time. At least you have the hands free. Everyone is walking around with the blue tooth - those things scare me. And I never really recovered from managing and working a help desk for 7 years. Not too fond of talking on the phone anymore myself I have to admit.

Mel - you keep coming up with recipes with olives in them - I don't like olives. Find something else. Please. Ditto on the lamb :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: I did take a peek at Martha Stewart's site before. Found a great method for cooking corn on the cob on the grill. Although some of her things are over the top, that woman can cook!

Ceejay - so when are you making the chicken? Wondering how it turned out. I made a WW pasta salad with grilled vegetables last night to go with our fish. It came out quite tasty. Going to try a potato salad with grilled potatoes for tomorrow night. When you have a good leader, I found nothing beats the WW meetings. Problem is that not many leaders are all that inspiring. :( There is also TOPS meetings but it doesn't appear that there are any in your area which is surprising. I guess you just need to find a weigh in buddy. :D

Well it's a short work week at least. Not doing anything special for Independence Day at the end of the week. Just glad to have an extra day off. But I must hussle as it is month end.

Have a good day and hellos to Michelle, Annie, Ellen, Ruth and the rest of the crew
