Well, saw the orthopedic guy today for MRI results - bottom line is, either suck it up and live with it, or get surgery with about a 3 month recovery (8-12 weeks in a cast/boot). Bugger.
|
if it hurts you should think LONG term and get it fixed??? if it stops you doing what YOU want then you should get it fixed??
not happy jan - i know i said i'd be happy with any loss but the cruel cruel world we live in.... i lost 100grams.... which means..... yes i am 90kg on the dot..... oh well down is down...... if i give up it will go up so bring on another 100grams next week.... ani how long will it take me to lose 20kg if i lose 100grams each week?? |
Kel for the last two years I have averaged 0.3kg/week - and you can do that too! You know you will lose more than 100g/week if you make better food choices and drink enough water. Have you tried counting calories for just one day to see how much you actually eat?
Gen how much pain do you have with your achilles? Can you live with it? And is there a 'rehab' time after you get out of the plaster? I've considered surgery for mine, but I tend to live with it for now… but if it is at the point where the pain is relentless and the chance of a full rupture is getting higher, maybe surgery is your best long-term option. My big plan for today is to try and drink enough water. I've been pretty good this week, but yesterday I let myself down. So I'm concentrating on doing better today. |
Eh, it depends what I do as to what pain I have. Usually it aches most of the time, but it's only "sore" in the mornings or if I walk uphill (hard to avoid in Pittsburgh!!) or run/stress with exercise (how convenient!).
I would prefer to get it fixed, he said about 80% of people get a good improvement, and he's a foot specialist who was highly recommended. But I just started this job - having me out of action for up to 3 months would be very hard to do with work - we walk around the hospital, up and downstairs, pulling heavy consoles etc every day. It's a huge part of my job. |
OMG Kel that sucks so damn bad .. but at the same pount its a little funny especially since you said any loss would get you under 90..... its like karma came and bitt you on the bum...
But i do agree a loss is a loss :) and for that i give you a high five.. Ani your pictures are amazing what a difference .... unreal Vonni well done on your loss this week glad to see both you and ani have broken your plateaus :) As for me not alot happening on the scales .. ( not weigh in day yet.) But there is plenty going on in my wardrobe.. ive turned into a tart.... That cant keep her pants on.. lol.. I put on my favorite pair of jeans yesterday .. did the up only to have them fall to the ground along with my undies... .... i was shocked.. i picked up my jeans thinking the zipper had gone or the button.. but nope they were firmly done up... pulled them up again just to be sure.. and they dropped again...... lol.... What a shame hubby wasnt home since i couldnt keep my pants on... lol.. I got me another pair of undies out thinking it must just be a bad pair.. put on another pair of jeans.. that have had a dart sewn into the waist.. and spent all day pulling my jeans and undies up.. lol.. When i went to pick up Cameron my undies had crept down as far as they could under my jeans just walking from the car to the classroom.. and i had to go in the ladies an pull them up.. lol.. So tomorrow when Leah is in kindy.. in taking my fav jeans to the salvos.. and im gonna see if i can find me a cheap replacement pair in there .. since now i have only 2 pairs that fit me . I dont want to buy new becuase i dont intend on staying this size for too long :) .. the undies ill go to target for.. lol im not that desperate to save money... lol |
You girls are awesome!
Ani - you are beautiful. It sounds like everyone is really on the up-and-up. I'm taking a course this week around how to get a job. Sounds rediculous, but that's the simplest way to describe it. I'm also taking a course in MYOB, the accounting software - makes me more employable. Drinking a shedload of water every day, 2L min. That's a start. love |
Love your baggy pants story Amy! That's so funny :D
Hope you're enjoying your course Kylie and hope that it's useful for you. I had a great day yesterday, stuck to my points and did my weights followed by a 30 minute run. I've got a big quiz evening with work tonight so no gym and my goal for today will be to not overindulge in the drinks and nibbles this evening. :twirly: |
You girls are so motivated in terms of ellipticals and runs and gym (julia yr a gym junkie hehe) and water. How do you all do it? I don' even THINK about it.
Though I got a phone call from Curves (a friend dobbed me in) to have a free turn and an analysis done. If I like it, it's $90 to join and $50 a month. I figure I got my tax back so there's my joining fee, and if I give up Austar theres my monthly fee. Now if I do it, I just gotta find the time to go and find a sitter for the kids lol. It's only half an hour each session and I think they open at 6am and close at 6pm. Wednesdays are no worries, but I would like to go at least two other days so gotta figure it out. Maybe Mon Wed and Fri. with a 2 day break between, and I work on my feet all day Sat so thats gotta count for some exercise. Has anyone else been to curves? half hour apparently is all it takes |
i know people that have been to curves and i think they liked it just make sure not to slack off between machines, you go for half an hour on the different machines but if you slack off inbetween that would not be half an hour. that is a good price though my gym costs more than that at the moment i think.
maybe i'll go to the gym before i go to work at the opshop i thought the other day when i looked down and i looked at some photos that my fat is moving... its almost 'moving in' it is like i am turning into a fatty not into just someone with some excess weight.... not cool.... i will fix it.... no worries..... ho hum....... i showed myself last week i could do it i just have to remember that exercise is an important bit and water bring it on |
VOnni, I would not do it - for $50/month you can join a gym which has a lot more equipment and broader opening hours.
|
aren't most gyms about 12 or 13 dollars a week? isnt that more or less 50 dollars a month?
i guess it depends what you would be doing if you went to the gym... the option to do classes is really good and weights as well so gen is right about more options. i didnt get to the gym today - i will go clean the house now and try for some incidental exercise |
I dropped Leah off at kindy and went shopping . i spent 150 got 2 pairs of jeans (18) a pair of trackpants and jacket(20) and belt.. 7 pairs of undies(18) and a bra.. for $150 in targets winter clearout.. :) It nice to have clothes that fit.
i went though my wardrobe when i got home and pulled out all the 26's 24's and 22's and one pair of 28 jeans .. i wore about this time last year... I put some of the 22 jeans back becuase i bought a belt today and they will do .. for now.. But im over the moon happy to be in a 18-20.. i know i have bought the odd smaller sized item but to be able to go out and buy everything i wanted in theat size is something else.. .. Leah had a great day at kindy no rash this week so mummy is happy too.. I asked the teachers this morning if she went in the sand last week since she had a nasty rash from her bum to her ankles and was miserable they told me she didnt they had watched her like hawks and she didnt even go near it .. and one of the teachers said.. what about carpet they have put brand new carpet in the library and they sat on that for 20 minutes last week .. for story time and would do the same this week.. Leah is mildly allergic to carpet .. so today they took a towel to the library for her to sit on and when i picked her up she was happy and rash free .. So today was great day all around and i stuck to my calories .. and did my workout so.. all is good I had no idea gyms were so expensive.. |
Woohoo Amy sounds like you had a great shopping spree! Are you going to keep any of your old clothes to remind you of how far you've come? I've kept one pair of trousers and they cheer me up when I'm feeling fat these days
I failed miserably with my diet yesterday :( Someone bought a bunch of food in for morning tea and I had a couple of savouries and some lollies. That wouldn't have been so bad but I didn't have a chance to have any dinner before the quiz evening and I ended up munching out on the lovely pate and cheese and crackers and had probably 6 glasses of wine. Oops :o Back on track today and my goal for the day is to stick to my points. I won't be going to the gym today as I really need to do some housework before having a flat inspection tomorrow. Must try to get to the gym at some point in the weekend too. One change coming up is that I'm starting back with a personal trainer from next week. Time for a new programme so hopefully that'll help to kick start some weight loss. :twirly: |
i've been thinking about personal trainers, wondering if i need one or if i should just get into the groove again slowly by myself.... what do you do in your personal training sessions???
dont worry about one bad day, just pick up again when you realise what you have done! never say tomorrow as tomorrow never comes amy - woohooo and omigosh - you have lost so much weight since last year if you used to wear those sizes!!! woo hoo hoo hooooooooooooo must be hard to send your baby to kindy not knowing if she will come home with an allergic reaction to something...... yesterday i had to go and jemima coz some other kid pushed her off the slide and she grazed her chin and cut her tongue and they think the inside of her gum behind her front teeth, blood all over her jumper and lots of tears, poor baby, before 9am and after 4pm they mix all the kids together coz they dont have enough little ones sometimes to warrant a carer just watching the little ones so she gets to play with the big kids, i'm sure she loves it and thinks she is a big kid which is why yesterday was the 2nd time in 2 thursdays i had to sign an incident report when i got there!!! but brave me cancelled mondays so that means as of next week i will have her mon, tues, wed (swimming lessons) and then have thurs and fri to work or whatever - next week i am working friday and this week i worked at the op shop yesterday so i think that will be a good balance that i can handle for now..... today i am dedicating to getting the house tiday before the cleaner comes otherwise she tides and doesnt CLEAN! which is why i want her to CLEAN the floors and bathroom and stuff not TIDY all my crap we have more than 4000 songs on our ipod and i am discovering that the majority of them are from benji's brothers and utter crap! i must AGAIN go press skip! have an awesome awesome weekend everyone! stick to those goals!!! ani - i am in perth from august 12 to august 17 we should meet up one day |
Oh poor jemima.. that must have been quite a bump she got for all that damage ..It horible when they hurt there faces.. great to see you back on track Kel and getting your baby back on a monday..
Julia today is a new...I bet the quiz evening was fun.. :) Today for me was weigh in day ...... and after my crappy food week I thought i was going to have a gain. The weigh in pixies were very kind to me this morning though so im happy I have a 700gram loss this week. |
:carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::c arrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::car rot::carrot::carrot:
that's for you amy! :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::c arrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::car rot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carro t::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot: |
hello..........o....o...ooo (echo) where is everyone???? are we playing hide and seek?? someone should have told me i was IT!!!! lol
|
I'm here. Hi Amy congrats on the loss. And wow those size changes must really make you feel fantastic :D
|
why why why
why do i sit and imagine myself in my red pants and all the nice funky tops i have in size 14 then sit and eat everything on my plate when i KNOW benji has served me a mans sized portion? why why why why why why can i see where i want to be and KNOW what i NEED to do to get there but dont i KNOW that if i KNEW i would be rich and famous and gorgous anyway tomorrow i am going to the gym i went on friday and did gardening today but lazy gardening so tomorrow gym and walk the dogs and keep eating in check ditto for tuesday then weigh in wednesday and the weekend of food i had will just hope to have maintained! i cook a mean lamb roast |
That's the problem Kel, it's easy to know what to do, the hard part is doing it.
Last night I looked back over my measurements and was very disappointed to see that I've steadily been gaining weight and getting bigger over the past 2 months. My gym activity has been pretty good so it's got to be the diet at fault so I know that I really need to pay closer attention to that. Today I'm feeling really tired and blah and I wish I was at home in bed. Can't do that though so I will just try to do the basics: stick to my points and go to the gym tonight. Hope you're all feeling better than I am! :twirly: |
Hellooo ... where is everyone?!?!
Yay for me, as of last nights weigh in, I'm down 900g from last week. :carrot::cb::carrot::cb::carrot::cb: Stuck to my points and had a great workout at the gym and my goals for today are to do the same. :twirly: |
:carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::c arrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::car rot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carro t::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:
here is a deal for you i take 450grams of your awesome loss and you keep 450grams and i dont weigh in in the morning and get all unmotivated coz i have not been 100% on to it! julia - 900grams is awesome awesome amazing fabtabulous i am thinking i wont weigh in for above mentioned reason.... i think if i go back OVER 90 now it would not be a good thing for me motivation wise..... so perhaps as i am 90 on the dot i will give myself another week and see what happens... i can tell by looking at me i have not LOST weight but i can not tell if i have maintained i went to the gym yesterday but then got a out of the blue invite to sizzler so well there you go.... happy tuesday everyone |
Kel i would do the same if i was unsure about my week :) lol ..
Julia woohooooo :cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::c b::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb: :cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::c b::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb::cb: :cb: (ms banana arobics... lead by mr carrot):carrot: yeah i know i have too much time on my hands.. but 900g is great .. :) so where is everyone else hiding??? Camerons school had a student free day tommorow and then a teacher strike on thursday so... I have bought tickets to go and see the circus. :) tomorrow night :) we are all excited about it ... im like a big kids ya know lol... the show is on at 7.30 and runs for 2 hours.. and i didnt want to fight the weekend crowd so this teacher strike thing couldn't have had better timing for us.. |
really gotta do the circus thing! right next time it is in town, i'm doing it!
next week we are going to the ekka (the brisbane show) so that will be fun, i wanted to go last year but it wasnt worth it with jem only 5 months old and the flu deadly one out and about so this year will be awesome fun showbags!!! i am going to weigh in tomorrow - i need to know - i need to punish myself if i have been off track, and i need to know if i am off track in order to get backon track - its all quite simple is sushi good?? i like sushi i had it for lunch today i used to make it but then got paranoid about rice being carbs will be back tomorrow for a good spanking after i weigh in |
Hey Kel, good on you for deciding to weigh in. I know that sometimes it's not what we want to see (like my weigh in results for the past 3 weeks!) but it's best to know where you're at so that you can make adjustments to keep yourself on track.
I'm feeling so much better today than I have all week. I don't usually get bloated but this week my tummy's been so big and I've been feeling so fat and today it seems to have gone down which is a big relief. I'm also nearly fitting into a pair of "average" sized pantyhoes!!! :cb: I've had an exciting invitation to spend New Years Eve in Melbourne with a friend who's going with a group to go to a massive dance party. I've applied for a few days annual leave and am now just waiting to see if it can be approved. I really hope I can go! It does mean though that if I do go in December, I probably wouldn't be able to afford to come meet up with everyone in March and that would be a bummer. Will just have to wait and see what happens. Goals for today: 1) Stick to my points. 2) Have a killer session at the gym tonight. That one won't be hard as I'm back with my trainer tonight. :twirly: |
So... I'm 106kg. That's more than I was when I first joined here. I tried on a size 22 shirt tonight and it was too tight.
I'm considering starting the process to get a lap band. I am pretty sure it would be covered by my medical insurance. You have to get all sorts of testing, and see a psych, a nutritionist, undertake 6 months of supervised dieting first... so it would be a while away. I just can't keep doing this my whole friggin life. Yes, I can lose it but it's SUCH a struggle, and I have to do SO much exercise, and then I just gain it back (plus more) when I stop trying so hard. I'm sick of it. |
wow! benji's boss is about to do the same.... if it is covered by your medical insurance then maybe it is a solution for you - especially if you are going to have 3 months out of action with your ankle - it cant be good for your mental state to keep getting bigger..... especially when you are trying and stuff...!
i was 90.9kg - not happy but not surprised, i am going to fix that big time after my perth holiday -it is the BIGGEST i've ever been except when i was pregnant.... and i know i should say AFTER but i know me and i know where i am at the moment, so i am going to maintain til tuesday have a great holiday but still be good and then get home and seriously work at getting the weight off, i have some new lovely friends and i the medication seems to be doing wonders - i am contemplating a vege patch and all sorts of things that would keep me active and since getting rid of the tv i have been motrivated to do all sorts of things areound the house and keeping up with jem is exhausting but fun so i am trying to work out if i have a way to also get rid of friday daycare............ |
oh and i was also thinking about joining a netball team!
|
Aw Gen I'm so sorry to hear you sounding so down  I know how hard it is to have the scales go up lots like that and I know how defeated you feel. I don't know anything about lap bands so can't really comment on that but I will say, whatever happens, please keep coming here so that we can all support you.
Kel joining a netball team sounds like a great idea. Keeps you active and gets you out socialising too :D I had another great day yesterday, stuck to my points and had a good session at the gym. Goals for today: 1) Stick to my points. 2) Go to the gym tonight and do 40 minutes of cardio. :twirly: |
Kel before I forget, yes it would be awesome to catch up. PM me about it and we'll sort something out :).
Gen I had tears in my eyes when I read your post. It reminded me so much of my 2004-2005 weight loss efforts. I got down to 83kg that time, and then proceeded to work my way back up to 105kg. Have you taken a serious look at your options? Are you thinking about lapband surgery because you're just so frustrated and annoyed with yourself that you can't see any other way out? It's true that surgery will give you an excellent short-term result (and I'm not arguing that you shouldn't do it), but don't you have massive restrictions on what you can eat for ages? Think about life post-surgery, and ask yourself if that is how you want to live your life forever. Nobody is going to lose weight and keep it off by going on a diet, or by restricting/depriving/punishing themselves with food. Gen you know I will support you 100% in whatever you choose to do. I just want you to promise yourself that you will make a considered decision and not a reactive one. You deserve more than that my friend . I'm going OK. This last week my roster has been all over the place and I'm finding it hard to be in any kind of routine. I'm also in the midst of the most stubborn plateau of the last two years, and can't seem to shift my weight no matter what I do. But I'm just going to be patient because it could be that my body just wants a rest. I could be a drama queen and get annoyed with myself. After all, I have only dropped ONE kilo in the last four and a half months. But I haven't gained weight in that time, and it's wonderful to know that I can maintain this new 'me' - it means I have learned how to live differently. Over the course of the next year I will figure out how to lose the next 6kg, and it still means a lot to me to get there. But it also means a lot to me to know that I am now beginning to live the life I dreamed about a couple of years ago - so I'm not going to beat myself up over 'only' losing 29kg. |
the circus was fantastic
We went to the Circus last night it was fantastic, the kids had an absolute ball..
The acts were fantastic the costumes were great and the show didnt bore you even for an instant.. The tent was huge so they had brought the jumping castle inside and the food stand too.. so the kids could play before it started.. and people could get warm drinks.. or hot food before the show or in the intermission. They sold mini show bags and light up toys.. my two got one of each and were happy to turn on there light toys between skits when the place went dark.. It was brilliant.. this lady ended up with over 30 hoola hoops it was unreal http://i36.tinypic.com/o6k0na.jpg the high wire act was brilliant http://i33.tinypic.com/xqe5hg.jpg i know its hard to see but this lady was juggling flaming balls upside down with her feet and hands http://i33.tinypic.com/1z5nt5y.jpg and here are the horses they were great too http://i36.tinypic.com/ir7528.jpg here is one of the cutest clowns in the place.. Leah http://i34.tinypic.com/zin7ep.jpg and another super cute clown.. Cameron http://i33.tinypic.com/elys8.jpg and of course the normal clown http://i34.tinypic.com/2lk5ysw.jpg the curtain acrobat http://i38.tinypic.com/mjsc55.jpg ok last picture.. upside down walking man.. he was good . actually they all were http://i35.tinypic.com/10duxqv.jpg |
if only there was no counting involved in weight watchers.
grr i hate knowing it really does work and it is real food hmmmmmmmm gotta do something julia you are so motivating everytime i read that you have stuck to your points especially when you then report loses of 900grams..... gen - ani is right about the food restrictions - my ex-sister-in-law got a lapband thingy and had to go to hospital afew weeks or months later coz she almost choked on a corn chip. (but she did lose heaps of weight and used to blend up the funniest combinations of foods coz she wanted the taste so bad) (and ate a lot of oysters) (???) did not do my weightloss and favours today... and have put on weight since yesterdays weigh in - (reported to calorie king coz it asked me to weigh in) and in perth next weigh in so NEXT weigh in wont be until 2 wednesdays away - that SHALL be interesting! |
we posted at the same time amy - woohoo for cute clowns!!!! too too cute!
|
Circus looks cool Amy, glad you all had a great time.
Kel I gotta say, it sounds to me like you're still searching for a quick fix. I know that you know it doesn't exist mate. You've got to change your way of living, not just go on a diet because we all know that diets don't work. I didn't go to the gym last night as I ended up working late so didn't really have time. I did stick to my points though and ate really well all day. Goal for today: Stick to my points and eat well. :twirly: |
oh yeah DEFINATELY looking for a quick fix
i am in a spot right now where i definately have the will power to maintain - it is working with my house and other aspects in my life but i look at how fat i have gotten and feel like i need to do something radical so i can get back to a more manageble state i am working on that mindframe now |
Gen i agree with everythign ani said dont do it as a I give up solution.. look into it and its after affects.. after you have it you live on restricted calories.. so why not just start restricting them yourself.. and do away with the surgery?? you'll get the same result without hurting yourself and then living on very little food for the rest of your life..
Kel i love the new picture of jem.. she is so cute.. hey im glad your in maitance mode.. that is so much better then the self distruct mode you have been in for quite a long time.. the next step is weightloss mode.. :) lol woohoo.. Julia you are doing fabulous as usual with your point.. :) as for me ... im down 1.2 kilos this week :) |
AMY! You're on fire :carrot:. I'm really happy for you!!!
I sat down this morning and worked out that over the past two weeks I have averaged 1827 calories/day and only 1.1L of water a day. Not exactly bad, but not enough effort to actually lose weight either. Sometimes I delude myself because I work really hard, physically, and I think that's enough exercise. But it obviously isn't - so I need to tweak things a little bit. This week I'm going to aim for 1600 calories and 1.5L of water every day. I'm also thinking of starting walking or swimming for exercise if I can find the time, or get enough energy. Hope everyone has a great weekend :). |
Lap bands are reversible. I know I can restrict calories myself, but then I just keep putting it back on. I think it's worse for my health to regularly lose/gain 20-30kgs.
|
