Amy you sound excited - hope you all have a fabulous family/birthday time!

Kel I have lost 29% of my original body weight, and I am still overweight too. Don't let the numbers stress you out - in fact 10% is a significant loss. If you don't believe me, fill a backpack with 10kg of something and carry it around for an hour - you'll soon know how much difference there is.

YAY Lindor - I'm glad you got an earlier appointment. I have no doubt that will help your frame of mind. If they don't stuff my roster around I will be working 6.30am - 2.30pm when you're in town, so we will definitely be able to catch up this time.

I had another good day yesterday; I ate 1590 calories, drank 2.4L of water and walked 9km at work.

I have a new mantra to get me through this next 5kg goal - and it's on my fridge. It's called CLEANSE:

Cool clear water;

Listen! My body will tell me what it needs today;

Earn it! It won't change if I don't make it;

Attitude! Feed my hunger, not my emotions;

Nuts, fruit, veges, protein - clean burning fuel;

Stretch, push, breathe, move;

Eye on the prize! Nail those goals.

i am so pumped to start weightwatchers tomorrow i am starting tonight, got a recipe off the website and am going to make it tonight

Creamy red chicken curry
main meals

POINTS® Value: 6
Servings: 4
Preparation Time: 20 min
Cooking Time: 30 min
Level of Difficulty: Moderate

We've used light sour cream in this Thai red curry. This keeps it low in fat, yet keeping all the delicious creamy taste.

Ingredients
1 3 second spray Always Fresh Olive Oil Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray
400 g skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
1 whole fresh red chilli, deseeded, finely chopped
1 1/2 tbs curry paste, (red)
150 g tomato, (grape or cherry), halved
200 g fresh green beans
150 g mushroom, sliced
3 tbs light sour cream
1/2 whole chicken stock cube, dissolved in (1/2 cup) hot water
1 tbs fresh lime juice
2 tsp fish sauce
2 tsp brown sugar
1/4 cup fresh basil
3 cup cooked white rice
Instructions
Preheat a large non-stick wok or frying pan over high heat. Spray with oil.

Add chicken in 3 separate batches, stir-frying quickly until golden brown on outside, but not cooked through. Transfer to a plate and set aside. Cook remaining chicken in same way.

Meanwhile place beans in a bowl and pour over some boiling water to cover. Set aside for 2 minutes, then drain and set aside.

Re-spray wok with oil and add chilli and curry paste. Cook for 1 minute, or until fragrant. Add tomatoes, beans, mushrooms and chicken and cook stirring for 2 minutes.

Add sour cream, stock, lime juice, fish sauce and brown sugar. Cook for a further minute, then toss through basil leaves, just before serving. Serve with cooked rice.
Notes
Any left-over curry will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 2 days. It's best reheated in a microwave on high for 2 minutes.

oh and lindor i found that the kind of people you associate with sometimes affects the "type" of person you are to others or think you are....
i had to take a good look around myself a couple of years ago and realised some of the people i hung around were not worth my time and energy, they did not want to help themselves and they were more interested in making others feel bad, i dont need to be part of that - life is too short

Primm 09-17-2008 12:23 AM

Hi Kel, I hope Jem's feeling better. There's nothing worse than a sick child.

BUT - you will be HEALTHIER! Think about it. You could spend the next few years getting healthier, or you could just keep going the way that you were. Either way the time will pass just the same, and you will either end up as you are now, or healthier and with more energy to spend with your lovely little girl!

Don't worry about the numbers, except as a tool to help you measure your progress. Don't measure yourself against some arbitrary scale of "healthiness" that has been decided for you. Ask yourself, "do I feel better? Can I do things I couldn't do before? Am I happy with my progress?" If you can answer yes, then some number that someone has made up is completely irrelevant.

 to you.

amouse 09-17-2008 12:55 AM

oh ruth i wish they had put you on my team.. now your the enemy..... lol just kidding .. you are going to love the biggest loser challenge there are some really great people involved in that challenge

Primm 09-17-2008 01:01 AM

Yeah, I'm really excited about it actually! It's funny isn't it? I'm pretty competitive usually, so that's got to be a good thing.

Elerine 09-17-2008 05:21 AM

Hi everyone!

Not a great deal to report. I went up 400g at my Tuesday weigh-in (in my bathroom :P ) So I'm 98.6.

I'm eating breakkie on and off - it's a start, but I should make more of an effort. I also should begin taking my lunch to work again - I did for the first few weeks, but I stopped. "should this, should that" - just listened to myself.

I'm actually not sure where I'm at. Maybe it's time to look at a structured program, like weight watchers or something... has anyone tried? Are they worth the outlay?

Gotta run

smylie 09-17-2008 06:21 AM

hey kylie
i've only ever done weight watchers on my own at home - when i have put my mind to it i did lose 9.5kg in a good amount of time but then obviously had heaps of problems coz by the time i was divorced 6 months later i had put it all back on - who knows i seem to have blocked that bit out of my life

anyways TOMORROW (for real) i am joining weight watchers as i am sure the "pressure" of the weigh in and the fact i am paying for it will encourage me more to lose weight - and i am looking forward to more recipe ideas to cook - the one i did today worked awesomely i cant believe it was low fat!

Primm 09-17-2008 06:47 AM

I'm doing WW online by myself (no meetings). I think I need the support of people, as I've tried WW at home in the past and failed miserably, but now that I've found this place it seems to be working for me! I was thinking of changing to Unlimited for the meeting support, but I think I'll wait until I lose a bit more, then go for a while to get Lifetime, and then it will be free forever!

I'm not really using WW recipes Kell, as much as adapting what I have. Hubby is very fussy and I can't be bothered cooking separately for me. But I'm down over 7 kg so far (in 9 weeks, not too shabby!) so between the weekly weigh in's and advice over there, and all the amazing support from my 3FC buddies, it must be working!

pacman12 09-17-2008 06:25 PM

Ugh got my student ID card today - the pic is okay, apart from the CHINS!! Eek. I remember after losing weight, looking at fat pics and thinking "never again"... well, here I am again. Sigh.

Lady at work today: "I went ot the gym last night. Do you know what a gym is, Gen?"

Hot guy I work with that I'm a lot in lust with and a lot in like with: "Do you know what lithium is, Kathy?"

PerthChick 09-17-2008 07:34 PM

Gen that woman's remarks say a lot more about her than they do about you - I'd call her on it and ask her why she needs to try and put someone else down in order to make herself feel OK. But I'm very glad your cheer squad is there watching out for you :p. I'd have a go at her for you if I was there…

I had another good day yesterday: 1400 calories, 2.4L of water, 9km of walking and I unloaded about six pallets of stock - I have definitely got Bunnings biceps now :D.

Julia where are you? It's very unusual for you not to pop in every morning - does this mean the chest infection has kept you home in bed? I hope you're OK.

LittleKiwi 09-17-2008 08:32 PM

Here I am!!!

Thanks for your concern Ani  I'm doing okay. I was off work yesterday attanding a training course so had no 'puter access. Morning tea and lunch were catered and I chose to enjoy what they provided and that put me over my points for the day but I did go to the gym last night and had a decent session with my trainer.

I'm feeling a lot better and finally feel like this bug is on the way out which is fantastic.

Gen that woman that you work with sounds like a prize *****. I love what your hot friend said to her :D I t's horrible though when someone speaks to you that way and I really hope that you can stay strong and not let it get to you. I agree with Ani, I would be inclined to call her on it.

Ani you're on fire at the moment and it's fantastic to see :cheer3: you must be proud of your Bunnings biceps! I love how strong I feel when I do my weight training and it's awesome when you can start to see the muscle definition.

Good luck with the Weight Watchers Kel!

No gym for me today as I have an appointment at the hairdresser for a cut and colour so that will no doubt take ages. Goal for today is to stick to my points!! No doubt that will be a bit of a challenge as I've already eaten 5 roses chocolates today :T not ideal but I've written them down and will factor them in to my points for the day.

:twirly:

LittleKiwi 09-18-2008 04:43 PM

Morning all

Yesterday was an okay day food wise but not brilliant. I stuck to my points but feel that the food that I ate wasn't really all that good. Too much chocolate!

No gym last night as I got my hair done instead. Having had all of last week off the gym and having been sick I'm feeling so unmotivated at the moment and that needs to stop. I need to kick back into top gear.

So. Goals for today: Stick to my points and do some form of exercise. Unfortunately I didn't bring my gym gear so I've got to hope that the weather clears up so I can go for a walk or something after work.

Hope you're all doing okay.

Kel, how did you go at Weight Watchers? I would love to be able to go to meetings but there are none that I am able to get to as most of the meetings are when I'm working.

:twirly:

PerthChick 09-18-2008 08:00 PM

Weigh-in: 73.9kg - DROPPED 0.8kg :cheer3:

I am so looking forward to the weekend. Aside from a visit to the chiropractor I have absolutely NO plans, and I'm intending to spend at least one day doing nothing but resting - I'm feeling stuffed this morning and I still have a day to go.

LittleKiwi 09-18-2008 08:54 PM

WOOHOO ANI!

Congratulations mate, that is a truly fantastic effort.

:cheer2::cheer3::cheer2::cheer3::cheer2::cheer3:

I colored my nice grey hair today, getting it cut Sat and then heading off to Canada on Sunday with Rick for a conference. Might have to get scared on the plane and sit on his lap. hehe.

ruth - where in brissy are you?

Elerine 09-21-2008 07:25 AM

Hi Everyone!

I've had an interesting day. I went to church. I wont say which flavour it was, but it was nice.

I'm feeling a bit sick, but that's because I ate heaps of chocolate again today. I don't know why I do this. I know it gives me these shocking pimples, not to mention the angel wings of fat on my back that I discovered today. *eeew*

I'm 20. I'll be 21 in November. I don't want to be fat anymore. Actually, it's more than that. I don't want to be gross anymore. I want to wake up feeling great in the mornings.

So - looking for ideas for a not-extreme detox. No, I'm not looking to do anything loopy, like only eat soup or anything. I just want to stop feeling sluggish.

Ani - congratulations hon! Your hard work pays off!
Gen - grey hair? I always pictured you as a young one like me!

Off to research foodie foodie food. :)

pacman12 09-21-2008 11:03 AM

Haha Kylie - I'm 33. I've had the odd grey hair creeping in for about 3 or 4 years now. I tell myself it's all the wisdom...

I had a great night - Oktoberfest at the local brewery, then an arts festival, then the bar. Today: laundry, homework and packing.

LittleKiwi 09-21-2008 04:35 PM

I had a terrible weekend food-wise. Ate crap all weekend and feel very blah now.

It's a lovely day outside and that always makes me feel good. My goals for today are to stick to my points and to have a good workout at the gym.

:twirly:

PerthChick 09-21-2008 04:40 PM

I had a very slack weekend - did nothing, and definitely didn't eat on plan. Oh well, today's a new day and I am going to nail all of my goals. I am working 6.30am - 2.30pm this week, so the challenge will be to eat sensibly and to drink enough water.

It's 2ºC in Perth this morning (where's spring?), and the last thing I feel like doing is drinking water.

smylie 09-21-2008 05:48 PM

hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi
92.8kg wooo
wonder what i will be on weight watchers scales on thursday (i was 95 on theirs on thursday and 95.5 on mine on thursday so i am just letting it be their official thingy but going with mine and my monday weigh ins for my own 'official' thing)
but as someone reminded me the numbers dont matter it is feeling better that makes the difference fitting into any clothes at any shop and not seeing double chins in photos of myself
i have stuck to my points since friday (thursday maybe but i hadnt read enough to know how many points were in what i was eating but i dont think so)
its funny lindor's comment about my comment about turning over a new leaf, has actually worked on me..... i had woken up sometime last week and decided to do weight watchers, i found the meeting time and i committed that no matter what i would go to that meeting join up and get all the info and then coz i am paying stick to the plan and i know that it works.
this morning i woke up and thought slow and steady will win this race
and then i (look at the time) had to get up before my offical get out of bed time of 8am as i could hear jemima opening up the fish tank, and i did this without swearing at her..... things are looking up

julia - you have to do something about your weekends!!!!! i find them mega tough as well coz benji is home and i want to cook amazing food and do amazing things - so now i realise i can i just have to plan for it.... i had bacon and eggs yesterday (2 bits of bacon 2 eggs half a piece of toast and juice = 5 points which meant salad for lunch (sucker for dressing) so half a point and then i was going to have spag bol for dinner (believe it or not one of benji's faves) which was 13 points but then my parents were coming over for afternoon so i changed dinner to pumpkin stirfry (another benji fave) for 7ish points in case they wanted to eat stuff for afternoon tea, which didnt happen so i treated myself to a handful of m&ms so i have points to spare yesterday wooo..... have not yet had to cacluate alcohol into my day... was thinking tonight i may want a baileys so will look thatup
going to have a crumpet or two for brekky this morning with honey which will be like yesterday maybe a 5 point brekky

gen - i was thinking what kylie was about you and grey hair... but benji has had grey hairs since i met him when he was 24, his father has richard geer hair so he reckons he will look like richard geer when he is older... i always tease him and ask why he will look like richard geer and not his father?......

ani - have you tried drinking just boiling water like a pom??? they swear by it and it does wonders for your insides???? but a lot of people think it is like drinking bath water........

motivated to get lots of stuff done today and tomorrow
tomorrow jemima has check up at doctor to find out if we are allowed out again
she has had virus now for a week or so and the contagious bit is 10 days so almost over and we can go out!!!!
it has been good for me though having to be at home with her - now i am going to cancel tuesday daycare and only have thursday daycare which will be our day off from eachother (and my ww day and opshop day)

everyone have a great great great week!
i will let you know what ww scales say.... i cant wait

7senuf 09-21-2008 06:49 PM

The Japanese drink boiling (well, cool enuf 2 not burn) water as well. Look at their life span............................ And have you ever REALLY seen a fat Japanese person?

Lindor 09-21-2008 07:05 PM

amouse 09-21-2008 07:22 PM

very good point lindor... lol..

if your gonna have hot water chuck in a green tea bag... green tea is very good for you..

Kel im glad your on track.. :) and feeling alot better.. :) good luck with your weigh in at ww

Ani you rock... WOOOHOOO

Julia weekends im always a bit more slack on one of the days on the weekend.. school holidays are coming up. whcih is kinda like a 2 week weekend.. lol ... wich me luck... lol.

Kylie step away from the chocolate....lol

Gen grey hair..i agree with kylie and kel on this one lol

as for me im doing ok.. 116.3 this week .. so thats 500 grams down this week .. every bit counts :)

Ive been really busy.. Leahs birthday then john flew home.. so Leah birthday again.. lol .. Leahs and Camerons birthday party.. camerons soccer presentation.. Cameron and Leah are both sick.. and me and John are getting it.. yippee.. lol Tomorrow is Camerons Birthday,.. lol ..

But with all this i havent done too bad.. Leahs birthday at mums we had chicken and salad and some birthday cake.. Leahs birthday with John we went to the pub for lunch .. had snitzel and chips.. with salad.. but wasnt hungry at dinner.. so didnt go over on calories.plus we went bowling and spent 2 hours walking that day. and the birthday party was a healthy food party.. chicken and salad sandwiches, fruit platter and wholemeal muffin pizzas.. .. so all i had at the party was a sandwich.. and a cappicino.... Soccer presentation we didnt hang around for the bbq.. becuase Cameron is sick..

so im doing good :) not gone over my calories once.. and been running here there and everywhere .. so thats gotta burn off something right?? lol

LittleKiwi 09-22-2008 04:39 PM

Sounds like you're doing pretty well Amy and that's great to hear :D

Kel! Awesome to hear you sounding so positive :cb:

Ani I can't believe it was that cold there yesterday. That's winter weather!

I had an awesome day yesterday. Was right on track with my food and after work I went to the gym and did weights followed by a hard 55 minute aerobics class.

Woo ha!

Goals for today are: 1) Stick to my points. 2) Go to the gym after work and get back into my running.

:twirly:

PerthChick 09-22-2008 05:12 PM

Julia when I went to get in my car yesterday morning, the windscreen was a block of ICE! How ridiculous…

I have figured out that this shift (6.30am - 2.30pm) is the worst in terms of being able to stick to a routine. To start with I don't get enough sleep, and then meal times are ridiculous and I'm hungry in the afternoons.

Since it only happens every three weeks I may have to use it as a 'maintenance week' and not put pressure on myself to lose weight. Don't know yet - I'm still figuring it out…

Elerine 09-22-2008 06:05 PM

100.4 this week. up 800g but no surprise.

will be back later, but I thought I'd at least mention that I'm eating yoghurt, juice, and vita-wheats + cheese for breakfast. :)

smylie 09-22-2008 07:21 PM

you put cheese on your vitawheets?
oh i thought you mean those weetbix things... you dont do you?? you mean those cracker bickie type things?

i had porridge, juice and milk in my porridge

smylie 09-22-2008 07:23 PM

oh ani - 3.9kg til goal omigosh it is too exciting! could it be by xmas?

Elerine 09-23-2008 12:02 AM

haha no Kel - The biscuit things made of grains. Ham cheese and tomato is good too.

Weetbix and milk for me!

pacman12 09-23-2008 01:26 AM

Why do I not get over the lust for this guy? The more time I spend with him, the more I want to jump him. Sigh.

On the good news front, I sat next to our hot new cardiologist at dinner last night, and he asked me out. Yay!

smylie 09-23-2008 07:08 AM

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY
YA YA YAYAYAYAYA
WOOO HOOOO
GO GEN!
WHERE ARE YOU GOING??
HOW OLD IS HE?
CARDIOLOGIST SOUNDS CLEVER AND LIKE GOOD JOB
WE APPROVE
WOO HOO

in my news - i went over my points by 2 today and have another day inside with jemima then thursday HOPEFULLY she will be at daycare and i will weigh in at weightwatchers and go to work at the opshop.....

LittleKiwi 09-23-2008 04:40 PM

OooOo Gen how exciting! I take it you accepted his invitation? Can't wait to hear all about it!

I had a great day yesterday, stuck to my points :D

It was so lovely outside that I decided to skip the gym and I went for a walk instead. I did 15 minutes walking, 15 minutes of 1 min walk/1 min run intervals then another 15 minutes walking.

It was the first time I've ever tried running of any sort not on the treadmill and I was stoked that I did it and it was relatively easy.

Today I have a meeting after work so can't go to the gym. I did have great plans to go before work this morning but when the alarm went off I just couldn't drag myself out of bed so I'm going to have to go tomorrow morning before work as I have stuff on after work tomorrow night too.

Goal for today: Stick to my points.

Have a great day everyone!

:twirly:

PerthChick 09-23-2008 05:13 PM

Gen you're teasing us :p. Did you say yes?

Kel I have no idea if I will be at my goal by Christmas or not - and I'm still not sure if 70kg will be my final goal either. It doesn't feel like "the end of the journey" because I know that I am going to have to continue to eat properly and exercise all my life - otherwise I will put the weight back on.

7senuf 09-23-2008 05:32 PM

Ani congrats :dance:on being so close. You'll notice my ticker :censored:

Gen a cardiologist? Wow!! And cute too!! Bonus!! ;)

Dunno what I'm doin lately. One good thing-------- Passed my final exams. 2 assignments 2 workbooks and a month at the hospital in acute and I am all done:book2: Studying and working and being a mum has been really hard. The juggling time bit and still trying to watch my weight.

Hopefully now it's nearly over I can concentrate on me.

Took the girls for a walk yesterday around the river. It's a 2.5 km walk. Lovely to. If I lived closer I would do it more regularly but gotta drive to it and fuel is ridiculously priced.

After our walk we went to the park for lunch, had a play then drove home. Was nice to spend time with them.

7senuf 09-24-2008 05:53 AM

Didn't do to badly today.

Kel yr to funny. I think you were thinking of vita BRITS lol. They're the ones like weetbix only more hard bits in em. I'm with Kylie - It's weetbix all the way for me.

smylie 09-24-2008 07:57 AM

went over my points today but it was for my neighbour's birthday - i was close except for the two nips of baileys we had to celebrate.... so not expecting a HUGE exciting loss at first weight watchers weigh in but am ready for A LOSS please!! please!!

already getting better eating habits though, my fridge looks amazing and i am think majorly about portion sizes.

i know what you mean ani about final goal, the goal weight i have is actually 5kg over the weight i think will be my FINAL goal, i am so confident about maintaining though once i get there it is motivating me to get there as i know it wont be a waste of time this time

go julia - outside walking/running is usually heaps tougher than treadmill coz it has REAL ups and downs but so so much better for you with the fresh air and stuff!

vonni - do you smack ebony? does ebony bite?

smylie 09-24-2008 08:01 AM

new photo is jem standing on the fishtank table saying hello to the fish from above....
