Well, the dog visit happened but I have decided Serena (a Brussels Griffon) is not for me. Hersh was OK with her but the damned thing sheds on you when you cuddle her and I also seem to be allergic to her. First hint was an itchy neck and running eyes, followed shortly by a sneezing attack that bordered on asthma. I've not told the breeder yet but must do that before I go West. I was not completely in love with this critter anyhow - "She's so ugly she's cute" doesn't work for me! So Hersh and I will be a two-some for a while until the right dog comes along.

The morning (and part of the afternoon) is down the tube with a flu shot this morning, breakfast at Bob's Diner, coffee with two different groups there and then Terry on my doorstep when I got home. I offered her a tea and she accepted! Once again I'm not going to get to town to shop. Think of the $$$ I'm saving.

Hersh and I are going to put on a CD or two and sew for a while. Donna canceled out on cleaning this afternoon. She'll be here tomorrow, I hope, and I'll take off to town then.

See y'all later.

Believe me I know how hard it is to find the right dog, Rennie. They need to worm their way into my heart as Hershey and Lucy did - and Libby the abandoned hound and Sandbag the rejected Cocker before that.

Another breeder friend is starting into Tsvetnaya Bolonkas. They are small and look like messy coated Portuguese Water Dogs. One of her females was just bred so should have pups mid-January. That might work out for an April (8 week) puppy for me. If I can manage to get my damned knee operation in January.....

Hersh and I had a lovely relaxing afternoon of quilting and now are going to share supper - chicken and green beans.

I am removing my pasties and g-string and donning a flannel granny gown. Maybe that will help.

The things I do for my friends at 3FC ...

BTW Ruth. I'm a cat person but that puppy is just ADORABLE!!!!!!

Morning chicks,

Ok, I put a robe on. Let Shad back in people ! Nice gown Ruth I thought those shorts were cute too Rennie I'm sure once Holly gets her new jammies they will pass muster.

Friday at last Short week next week too. I can't BELIEVE it's Thanksgiving already. 2 blinks of an eye and Christmas will be here. This year has really, really flown by. Everyone says that. Maybe it's an "un-leap" year and they removed a few days on us

Holly - why are you doing Christmas so early? Does it come earlier in Canada like your Thanksgiving?

Not much to say. It's cold again. Frost on the ground this morning. A chill in the house until the furnace gets cranking. Once again we are reminded that we need to replace the antique front door that is warped enough to let in a bit of a draft. Problem is that the door places are only open 9 to 5 and sometimes not even that. Businesses really don't accomodate the working person down here.

Anyway, I need to get cranking here. Happy Friday chicks. Be good or at least stir up enough trouble to have fun

I'm glad I'm on my home computer today. The secruity camera at work may get an eye full this morning.

I'm excited. If nothing happens my sister and bil from Missouri will be here Monday and stay with me till Thursday. They will get up early Thursday and drive to his mom's in Searcy to spend Thanksgiving day with her. I only work Sunday and Monday and I'm off the rest of the week.

Happy
It's a little nippy here this morning. I wasn't up early enough to see the frost. Did you have to mention Christmas? I think I'm getting to be an old Scrouge. Not sure if that's the correct spelling.

Ruth
Your puppy looks like the dog that mom had. She's adorable.

Rennie
It wasn't mandatory that I go to this meeting but it was a way to earn credit hours towards my water license renewal. I'm checking at a university to see if they have any internet classes that I can take for credit. I need 24 hours every 2 years to renew my license. I'm debating on whether to get a enviromental degree. It wouldn't help my status at work, but would look good on a resume.

To the rest Have a good day. Stay on plan.

Shy, I'm pretty sure Red would give you special dispensation to take a couple of days off without losing your 21-day challenge. But if you insist on continuing, don't forget to ice it regularly. (In fact the whole RICE formula would help: rest, ice, compression, elevation.) A good massage therapist could also do wonders to speed the healing process, and some people swear by arnica salve rubbed into the sore area.

I'm not sure how it happened, but I seem to have given myself special dispensation to eat and drink everything in sight. Oh well. At least I'm continuing with the spinning. In fact I'm sitting in a spare boardroom at a very hoity-toity client's offices, knowing I have my very unflattering sports bra on under the pretty blouse so I won't waste time racing off to class later on. Soon I'll put on the cycling shorts under my slacks. Maybe it's the shapeless uni-boob and the strange leg and butt lumps I'll create that will keep us on Shad's porn list?
Oops, gotta go. Time to get back in the box...

Crossing my fingers that I won't get sick before I leave on Wednesday but also taking Vit. C and Echinacea.

As they say in Delta, I may be a bit "seldom" around here for the next little while as I am going out West to see my dd for a week. I may still be online to do MOD and South Beach stuff but time will be limited. You can always snoop in the South Beach Chat if you're worried that I've croaked.

Between then and now, I have a huge list of things to do including persuading the Country Christmas Committee that it will still happen on the 24th although I won't be here. It's not like it's never been done before - it's been happening since 1996! Claire is coming over tomorrow morning to get the list of costumes and props from me plus the list of who wears what and when. Doug who is King Herod still has his beard although Claire detests it. I bet it'll be off by 9 PM Saturday!

Two of the "lads" are coming to work outside for me this morning if it's not "too cold" for their wussy little butts. What ever happened to real men? My goal for the weekend is to get the barn in order so the car can go in there at night. Kevin has been fired as my contractor - I'll get a real contractor in the spring as soon as the frost is out of the ground. My friend Marlaine is a grave digger (really!) and will let me know when that happens. All four sills are rotted out so it'll be a really big job and $$$ but that's then and this is now.

Gotta dash and be dressed in case these guys show at ten. I won't put on coffee and thaw muffins until they actually make it.

Morning chicks,

I am bound and determined to get this house cleaned this weekend top to bottom.

Have a safe trip Ruth.

Go for the environmental degree Ceejay. We need to bring back the 70's and be concerned about Mother Earth again instead of just ourselves and the almighty dollar.

And the big question is - why did parents let their kids get so lazy? They are calling the latest group of (I use the term loosely) "adults" to enter the workforce - millenials. These are kids who were raised that everyone is a winner - there are no losers and they are all very special human beings. Good qualities but taken to the extreme. Now they expect a big raise and bonus just for showing up to work, look at you like you are insane if asked to work a spot over the minimum work week - because after all - their friends and family are their most important focus and they aren't killing themselves on the job like their parents did. And the companies coddle them further because they are afraid they will lose the new, young "talent". In the meantime, WE get to pick up their slack. This is why you see people of my age not only still supporting their old kids but their grandchildren too. And I blame the people who raised them and allowed them to be that way. I know of two people who are bringing up their kids with the same attitude of I love you and I will support you but let's face it life is tough, you have to work and you don't always get what you want. They have the best families I've seen in a long, long time. I'll go now before I get too revved up on the soapbox...

A question to you tech writers - did you take classes for this skill or did you just go into a field with your natural talents? My manager wants to send one of my coworkers to class and I don't know if they actually teach that stuff. I looked online but alot seem to be a waste of money that focus on grammar and spelling (which agreed seem to be a lost art now a days). But I'm looking for something that teaches technique.

Have a good weekend - I'm off to tackle the monster...

Good morning chicks.
Happy
My honest opinion is that the newest work force is a product of the "hippy" generation. They were all laid back. I'm still throwing the ball up in the air about getting the enviromental degree. It would not take me long, and most of the classes are internet.

I'm about finished with the house cleaning. I need to run to walmart and pick up a few things I forgot to buy yesterday and to the grocery store.

Ruth
Enjoy the time with your daughter. We'll hold the fort down while you are gone.

Holly
Already in the Chirstmas spirit. I'm going to put a turkey breast in the oven to have this week end. I'm sure I'll freeze part of it for later use. It's a good sized one. Save me a piece of fudge.

Rennie
Have a good day.

I think you hit it on the head Rennie about trying to be their friend instead of their parent. They should be comfortable about coming to you about anything but you are still the one who sets the bar and the tone and makes sure they understand the cardinal rule that for every action there are consequences.

I agree with you totally.

Ceejay if the classes are on the Internet and you can go at your own pace (provided you stick to a schedule) then that might not be a bad idea. I don't plan on working long enough to justify the investment in furthering my education at this point. I just want to get the out of Dodge as fast as I can

Hiya

No you are not un-pornographic. I have come down to find an internet cafe. I found one - it's a slow one, but at least it is open which is something in Perth on a Sunday.

Message from Jen about Mel this morning (I was at work) to say that poor Mel has cysts in both eyes and is in a poor state and will not be back any time soon. Jen has taken her phones of the hook and put a do not disturb sign on the door and Mel is ORDERED to rest!!!!
Jen will pick up mail from time to time but not everyday so if you want to send an e-mail it will eventually be delivered.

I have no idea what they do to the internet at work. It appears (so I heard) the other day that they don't have an SOE as such (Standard Operating Environment) because they can't agree on what to put in it!!!! %^&$&^% and so from time to time the standards just change. Last week things reverted back to 3 weeks ago in SAP. There was a fair amount of roaring going on in our joint I can tell you. This place is like the corner store which has grown into a multi national identity but still has the corner store mentality. I told my agent AGAIN this week that if he ever does this to me again, I will personally go to Sydney and cut his knackers off!

Can't reply straight off to all - but........
Ruth - thanks for putting out the message. I really didn't think that Serena was going to be the dog for you. You like them a little bigger than that - I'm not into upholstered rats or delapidated bath mats either.
Enjoy your holiday.

Ceejay - go for the degree. Even if you never get to use it as such, learning keeps the brain active and less risk of dementia type brain strains.

Happy - Yes there are such things as documentation writing courses. I went to one that still sticks with me although I'm having difficulty with the name of the trainer Rob Mc someone. He does or at least did courses all over the world. I will see if I can find some information at home next weekend.

Sorry - I gotta get off here. I'll try to get back before I hit Brisbane next Friday, but I'm not certain about that. Monday I am here in Perth, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I am at a place called Karratha on the coast about 1300Km north of Perth. Then I am flying home to Brisbane for a long weekend before coming back to Perth to do some more Training, more trips to Karratha and some Finance doco. This should be good. I know nothing about Finance. If I hear any more about Mel, I will send somebody an e-mail. Have Ruths and Carla's in my local list and I thought I could remember Happy's but obviously not.

See ya!
