  • Just in to say hello

Things at work are quite right now but the storm will pop in about 7 p.m. I'm not staying 20 minutes over to let her run her mouth. She mentioned somethng thing this morning about filling out the paper work and told her that day shift operators are doing the paper work. She should not be filling out anything except her backwash gallons used. That didn't sit to well with her. I'll break her from this spouting off. She acts like a child I'll treat her as one.

This is suppose to be my day off but I'm filling in for Bud.

    It will be better tomorrow.
  • I CAME HERE EXPECTING MILLIONS OF POSTS AND WHAT DO I FIND? A BUNCH OF SLACKERS!!!!
THANK GOD! THAT MUCH LESS TO READ.
TO BE AN HONEST CHICK, I MUST CONFESS THAT IN ORDER TO MAKE THE EXTRA CASH THIS MONTH, I DRANK COFFEE SO I COULD KEEP THE ENERGY FLOW. NOTHING ELSE WORKS. SO THE REAL ANSWER TO THIS EYE THING IS TO FORGET ABOUT THE EXTRA WORK. THE ONLY WAY I CAN MANAGE IT IS WITH ARTIFICIAL STIMULANTS. HAVING SAID THAT IT'S NOW TIME FOR ME TO BE RESOLUTE ABOUT THE SITUATION. ENUFF SAID
I HAVE BEEN OUTSIDE ENJOYING THE SUN, FOG AND SMOG. GOING FOR RIDES AND TO THE USUAL STORES.
JOHN IS BACK FROM VACATION MONDAY SO MAINTENANCE IS ALL HIS ONCE AGAIN....LIKE HE REALLY RUNS THE PLACE MY MOUNTAIN OF LAUNDRY IS NOW REDUCED TO A MORE MANAGABLE MOUND. I BEGAN TAKING EVERYTHING OUT OF THE CLOSETS SO I COULD EITHER KEEP IT OR GIVE IT AWAY.....AND TOSS.
A WOMAN IN THE OFFICE TOOK A LARGE BOX FOR HERSELF AND FAMILY.
AN IMPORTANT ELECTION IS JUNE 5TH SO THERE IS THE USUAL WIND-UP GOING ON.....AND THE EVER IMPORTANT TOSSING OF THE BULL GOING ON. SOME REAL DOWN AND DIRTY ELECTIONEERING. VERY SAD. THIS IS AN ELECTION TO VOTE FOR MR. SCUM OR MR. SCUMMIER.
WITH FRAN LEAVING I ASKED FOR ARTS & CRAFTS TO BE POSTPONED TILL AFTER SHAD'S VISIT. THERE WOULD BE JUST TOO MUCH TO DO THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE. IF "THEY" WANT IT..."THEY" CAN DO IT! SO FAR NO ONE HAS STEPPED UP TOP THE PLATE. I MUST GET A MOVE ON. THE ACCOUNTANTS ARE ARRIVING AT 9 AND I AM NOT PREPARED FOR COMPANY, LET ALONE MEET THEM IN THE LOBBY.....
    HAPPY SATURDAY MY CHICKIE FRIENDS!
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND

MADCAT~ I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR FRIEND. SENDING ALL GOOD THOUGHTS HER WAY. SCARY STUFF FOR THAT POOR WOMAN. (((((HUGS))))))

CARLA~ YOU BETTER GET ENERGIZED OVER THE WEEKEND!! GET SOME CARLA TIME IN AND TIME TO PLAY WITH THE KITTIES!

CEEJAY~ SEEMS LIKE YOU ALREADY HAVE THIS NEWBIE'S NUMBER. GOOD FOR YOU. LET TIM HANDLE IT. HOPE THE AUNT AND UNCLE ARE WELL TOO.

HAPPY~ YOU ARE STRADDLING THE 2 JOBS??? IS THAT ANSWERING TO BOTH BOSSES TOO??? GOOD LUCK AND HOPE YOUR WEEKEND ALSO IS RESTFUL.

SHAD~ YOU ARE BUSY GETTING HOME, UNPACKING AND REACQUAINTED WITH THE HUNMBLE ABODE. TRY NOT TO SMACKTHE DS2 IN THE BACK OF HIS HEAD....WAIT A MINUTE....THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA!!!

IS THIS ALL WE HAVE LEFT?
AND I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THIS.....AT LEAST ON THIS FORUM, WE "TALK" TO EACH OTHER. NOT LIKE OTHERS WHERE PEOPLE COME AND POST AND NEVER SAY A WORD TO ONE ANOTHER LIKE THEY THINK IT'S ALL ABOUT "ME" STUFF.
WE ARE THE WORLDLY CHICKS AND WE RULE!!!
  • CARLA I HAD TO POST THIS..... I THINK I SHOULD CHANGE MY NAME TO MISS ELLIOT!!

A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa, taking her faithful aged pomeranian named Elliott along for the company.
One day the pom starts chasing butterflies and before long, Elliott discovers that he's lost.… Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.
The old pom thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep doo-doo now!" Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap the old pom exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?"
Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew! says the leopard, that was close! That old pom nearly had me!"
Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So off he goes, but the old pomeranian sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard.
The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!
Now, the old pom sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?", but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old pom says.
"Where's that darn monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard!

    Moral of this story....

Don't mess with old timers...age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill! B.S. and brilliance only come with age and experience.

THIS IS ME IN A NUTSHELL....DAZZLE THEM WITH BRILLIANCE AND BAFFLE THEM WITH BS!!!
  • Good morning chicks,

I can't stay on long - something is wrong with the Internet connection on my PC and I'm using DH's right now. He needs his to do his guitar homework so I can't stay long. Going to be a busy weekend of heads down cleaning and purging. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Mel - I agree with you about it being nice to come here and "talk" to each other. The support and encouragement are so valuable. I have left other threads because people just posted about themselves - other than posting for a challenge or something, what's the sense in that?

But I do disagree when you say your motto is baffle them with BS - you are quite the one who will be honest, up front and don't beat around the bush - no b.s. Sam kinda lady. That's why I like you

Ok - I'm off to clean. DH said he would take a look at my PC after he gets his stuff done so hopefully I can get back on tonight.

Have a good Saturday. to the chicks

Mel-glad you are feeling better to come for a visit. I've noticed that the ususal people is not around as much either.

Happy-- I'm going to finish my tossing next week end.

    HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!
  • Good morning chicks,

    Happy Mothers Day to all.

Thanks for the story Mel - enjoyed it and for the soup recipe. I was looking to make something today - I have all the ingredients on hand. It sounds delish - thanks for making the menu plan easier. Hope you have a nice celebration with your family.

Ceejay - I just noticed your goal on your signature. A 34 in waist is certainly something to strive for. Keep up with that exercising and ignore the fussy co-workers.

I just ordered a new pedometer from Amazon.com - it was highly recommended by several of the people here. I have another that I got as a promotional thing but it's kind of off and doesn't measure steps as well as it should. I'm looking forward to getting my walking in at the new office location. There's a small pond with a walking track around it and when it gets too hot for that - it's a 1/2 mile around the perimeter of the building. And I can walk indoors when it's too hot out. Probably more steps to do it indoors as the building is not perfectly rectangular.

Carla - I love your nuttin but a houndfrog thingie by your avatar. Too funny

Kind of quiet here - everyone must be off doing things instead of sitting at the computer. As it should be.

I chipped a front tooth - really badly - as in about a 1/4 of a tooth off. It was fractured anyway because it had been hitting another tooth for years. I'm supposed to get my permanent crown in on Tuesday. I'm sure the dentist will be delighted to have another probably expensive procedure walking into his office that morning. Always something, eh?

Ok - I'm off to clean and menu plan and make a pot of Mel's soup. Happy Sunday. Enjoy your holiday.

Hard to believe that Shad will be here in 3 weeks. Geez I''d better get BUSY.
  • Sheeee's back!!!!!!

Had a good 'commute' home. Because I left early in the morning on both days, there was little traffic on the road and I made good time. Had breakfast with Irish friends in Mackay on the first day, and was so early getting down the coast on the second day that I had breakfast by the sea (along with around 10 thousand other mothers) at Hervey Bay - famous for the whale sightings and the fact that Mimi McPherson (sister of Elle, the model) runs a boat on the tour. There is a whole tourist industry run on meet the whales every winter. I stopped and had a beer at the Ettamogah pub (couldn't drink it all) and did some souvenir shopping there and got into Brisbane in plenty of time to pick up the accident prone kid otherwise known as a walking disaster area or sometimes DS2. I unpacked the car last night and all the stuff is now sitting in the lounge - guess what today's job might be?

Mel - good to see you back. Take care of those eyes. Strewth - if I come all that way to see you, the least you can do is see me!!!!!
Ribollita - well, well. Do you know what it actually means in English. Sounds real fancy in Italian, but ribollita simply means reboiled. Nasty name for a nice soup huh?

Ceejay, hang in there. Life will get back to normal. Since the brat knows everything you might just let her hang herself once in a while - mind you not when the water is affected since that affects a lot more people. I work on the theory of 3 strikes and you're out. Did that with the roosters. Warned em once about their punctuality, warned them twice and let them take the consequences on the third time. They have to learn and sometimes they choose the hard way.

Madcat - hope the bike fix lasted long enough to get to the shop. Would hate to picture you being tipped off a bike .

Happy - off you go and clean. You know I will run my white gloves over the top of the doors and down behind the loo just to check that you have been doing things properly. I'll be checking out the pool as well so just get on with it. yeah right.

Morning Carla, Holly, Ruth (snooping around) Meadow and Suzi. Where is Painter, Linus and all the others that I miss? Did we do something wrong?
  • Behind the loo?? You mean you're supposed to clean behind the d***ed thing too? Will the madness never end?? Just as well Shad won't be here to check out Carla's cleaning...

I'll be back later (maybe much later) for a nice chat. Meanwhile, must continue the search for my missing oomph. (Probably hiding out in the same spot as my healthy diet resolve. I knew it was a mistake to adjust the ticker downwards.)

    to all.
  • Carla--Do you need one of LindaT's prodding or just taking a day off?

Shad-- Glad you enjoyed the trip home. Thanks for the advice. May have to try that.

Happy--sorry to hear about the chipped tooth. I'll be getting a crown on Thursday.

Mel--Ah shucks--No need for the firemen! I'm going to try your recipe.

Hope every one had a good Mother's day. I enjoyed my visit with my aunt and uncle and their grandchildren. Had to much cake though. You know it was to sweet. I hope this means that my taste buds are changing,

I'm off to make a smoothie. Yum.

For some reason my sinuses are giving me fits today. Arg.
  • Back at last
    HELLO Ladies!

I found you all, You have been galavanting around. How lovely to be in memphis in the warmth. I am very happy to be here! I have always wanted to walk down Beal st and sing "walking in Memphis".

You all sound wonderful. I hope you have had a great couple of week. I must come for a catch up later.

I just wanted yu all to know that I was still with you.

Had a wonderful Mother's day yesterday. I was woken up with tea and toast and pressies, choccies, PJ's and a book on Paris! I loved them all.
For lunch we booked a place called Hurricanes which is famous for it's RIBS! they were yummy! I was so full though and promised I wasn't going to eat too much. i don't think my body is used to that much meat.
Hubby surprised me with a lovely glass of Moet at the table....very special.
I think this was the first Mother's day that I really felt my kids were growing up. They have grown so much in themselves this past year, it is so noticeable. It's hard to believe that it was such a short time ago they were all still my 3 babies, I guess they always will be.

I hope you all had wonderful days whatever you did. I was thinking of you all around the globe.

I have been really busy at work lately, thus why I haven't been online, I have just kept my head above the water. I found out on Friday that I won;t be working here after July. It will be up to me to decide what's next. I am really not sure at this stage. The kids have been really keen for me to stop of course, but I would go crazy if it was just home. I don't want to go back to volunteers work after this, hopefully something else will come my way.
I always knew that this was an interim job but I guess the reality sinks in, I have become quite attached.

Ok, must get back to the grind.

    Many happy thoughts for all

    Suz

I'll make you a deal Shad - anything you find back there you can keep I know what you're saying. It's just a good excuse and good motivation to get everything in good shape before company comes. (I told DH that's why I invite people over

Darn Mel - if I knew you were doing laundry today I would have left mine for you - or combined our loads together. Are these your drawers or mine? Have a good time. Heard it was cooler up your way. Hope it's pleasantly cool and not OMG it's freezing cool.

Hello Suzi - good to see you back. Was wondering where you'd gone off to. I'm sorry to hear about the job - did not realize this is a temporary thing. Hope something else comes along quickly.

Ceejay - I think you're on the right track. When you eat sugar all the time you don't notice it but since you've been switching the foods out - things like cake frosting start to taste yucky sweet. I had brocolli for dinner last night and while the entire dinner was tasty, that brocolli was especially good.

Carla - when you find that oomph - get me a little too, ok? Last week at bookclub we were standing outside saying our goodbyes and the host's 4 year son was running at full speed over and over around us. I looked at him as I often do at kids and wish we could bottle some of their excess energy - after all it generally gets them in trouble and heaven knows we could sure use it

So how's the DS2 healing up Shad? Sounds like you had a nice weekend. I see alot of packing/unpacking/repacking in your future

Another weekend zoomed by. I need a personal shopper. Darn grocery shopping takes such a big chunk out of the weekend. Amazing since I only had a small list. But I had to go to several stores for different things. I sure can spend money I tell you

Back on the WW with a vengence too. I've let myself slip with sodas and cheese and salty stuff and erased the losses I've seen to date. It's virtually a given that when I stop journalling the food, the weight creeps back with a friendly pound or two. Was looking at People magazine this week. It features 6 people who lost 100 pounds or better. Well 5 of the 6 are in their 20's. I found that disappointing. Not saying it's easier for them but I think their bodies have an easier time of bouncing back. There was one lady in her mid 40's just so the entire article wasn't too depressing. It all comes down to the old fashioned eating and moving. Speaking of which it's time to do both so on with the day. Enjoy yourselves...
