Hi gang . . .
This will be fairly quick since I've got a GYN appointment to get to. Hopefully, I'll know by this afternoon when he was to do this hysterectomy so I can then reschedule the cataract surgery. Just want to get this stuff over with. After it took me 90 minutes to get Mouse into a carrier to take him for a pill yesterday, I decided to board him there for the rest of the week. Of course, now I miss him; but didn't want that fight every day and he needs his meds. By the time I got him there both he and I were thinking homicidal thoughts; so this is definitely the best answer. TAMMY . . . Yes, thank you. But yesterday was good and today is off to a fine start. Think I'll make those pancakes tomorrow. They are great. TINA . . . School is such a wonderful place for kids to pick up every little bug there is. Of course, then they bring it home and every body else gets sick, too. DIANA . . . Good girl. Have a great weigh-in. I probably shouldn't ask, but what is the 'Spring Crud'? I would've thought that was a good description of flu. Well, got to go . . . have a great moving and shaking day, everybody. See you later. :carrot: |
LOL Linda, spring crud is just all the colds and allergies that people get when things start blooming.....we also call it "the snots" at our house. LOL Sorry if that's too much of a descriptive answer :)

Good day girls! My mood is way UP today! I went shopping for my planned meals and I feel so much better for it. I guess you guys can tell that I'm a little bit of a planner, it's hard to fly by the seat of my pants with regards to food. I have to be really diligent with this disease. Once I go a little of "plan" then I go ALL THE WAY...there is no "little bit" with me. That's a tough way to be, but that's me and now I have to live with it the best way I can figure a way to handle it.
Diana, good luck with weigh-in. Shew those thoughts of would've, could've and should've right into the trash. Those kind of thoughts will get you in a place your evil twin wants you to be to make you cave a lot easier. This isn't a race, it's a lifestyle. Live each day to better the last! Tammy, you know I want to be really nosey..do you have fitday? Could I get a glimpse of your day (foodwise)? I've started a meal plan with the Sugar Solution, here's my day: Breakfast - 1 slice of wholegrain toast with 1 tsp. of all-natural almond butter, 1 cup of skim milk...Snack - 3 cups of air-popped popcorn....Lunch - Tuna sandwich: 1/2cup tuna and 2 tsp. l-f mayo on whole grain bread topped with lettuce and tomato, 1 cup raw sugar snap peas dipped in 2tbsp. of low-fat dressing..Snack - orange...Dinner - 3oz. baked chicken, 1 sm. baked potato with 2 tbsp. l-f sour cream, 1-2 cups salad with 1 tbsp. dressing, 1 cup steam green beans...Snack - 1/4 cup applesauce mixed with 1/2 l-f plain yogurt and pinch of cinnamon. Daily totals round out to be: 1554 calories, 200g carbs, 27g fiber, 79g protein, 40g fat. Does this sound okay to you? Is it something close to what you'd do? As you can see I'm desperate to have a steady weight-loss like you! :) No more stalling! Linda, I hope you get everything outta your GYN appt. you needed to. I know you've been through enough and hope that this does get over and done with sooner than later. Can they let you give your kitty a needle instead of wasting energy and money on pills he won't take? Good luck with that situation! Well girls, it is awfully quiet in here I agree lets hope to get this place hopping again soon! Have a great day, I know I am..hehehe! TTFN! |
Hello ladies, sorry I haven't been here this week, guess you could say I have been hanging my head in shame. I had a terrible food weekend (numbers wise, taste was great) and yesterday the scales jumpped up to 223.4. Things are a little better today and they were at 221.4 this morning. I know it was mostly water weight. I did go back and put everything I ate into fitday and am so amazed at how much I ate. Saturday was around 3400 calories and Sunday was around 2500. Is that terrible or what. I made terrible choices, not only the choices but the amount was WAY WAY too much. I am feeling much better today and am giving myself a good kick in the butt.
I was going to try to catch up on personals but I don't even know where to start. Sorry........... I promise to be here again tomorrow and to try to not let the personals slide so bad again.:o |
Robbin, We've all had those days. Don't kick yourself too hard, just get back on track. That's the best thing you can do for yourself.
Everyone else please just scroll through this long boring post, this is for Tina. Tina, I do use fitday, but I use the PC version, which you can't make public like you can the web version. Your food plan sounds good. There are some things I do differently that I'll tell you about since you asked. Feel free to do them or not - it's just what I do but not the only way, of course. Your menu looks very well balanced and healthy already. First thing I do is to make sure that the bread is whole grain (reading the list of ingredients to be sure), be sure the salad dressing, mayonnaise and applesauce don't contain high fructose corn syrup. The salad dressing and mayonnaise may be hard to find without sugar (particularly if it is lowfat) , but I would make sure that it's way down the list of ingredients. The applesauce shouldn't have any added sugar. Personally, I don't eat much bread. A loaf of bread lasts me about 6 weeks (I freeze it and just use a slice at a time). A sandwich with 2 pieces of bread is kind of a splurge for me, although I'll do a whole PB&J about once a week. I personally don't eat white potatoes anymore. I occasionally eat a sweet potato in the wintertime. I try to include at least two servings (sometimes 3) of vegetables in both lunch and dinner. Tonight for example, I had something called cauliflower mountain, sauteed spinach with mushrooms, and a handful of cherry tomatos for my vegetables. I had that along with 6 ounces of roasted chicken breast. I like a lot of food, and vegetables help me get full and keep the calories low. One thing I might do if I were you is to up the protein some. I like to try to get my protein up to 100 grams per day. I don't always make it, but I aim for that. If I had to leave something out to keep my calories in line once I added the extra protein, I would probably leave out the potato or some of the bread. The extra protein really helps keep us feeling full longer. Here is what my fitday would look like roughly: Breakfasts are pretty traditional: oatmeal with splenda, skim milk, cinnamon, raisins; protein pancakes with blueberries and sugar free syrup; yogurt and fruit; omelet with veggies and bacon. Dinners are almost always a meat, a salad, and one or two vegetables. I usually prepare my vegetables with olive oil or smart balance spread, sometimes even butter or bacon. We have beans 2 - 3 nights a week. Rarely, we'll have a brown rice or whole wheat pasta or whole wheat tortilla with the meal. I eat cheese as my calories will allow. Lunches are just dinner leftovers. Sometimes I'll make a big batch of soup or chili and freeze it to have a quick lunch to go. I eat fresh or frozen fruit as snack almost everyday. I also buy lowfat no sugar added ice creams and popsicles as a treat, and have one almost every night. I eat a pb&j sandwich (with one piece of bread) for a snack a couple of days a week. Also things like string cheese, laughing cow cheese wedges, wasa crackers with salsa, plain nonfat yogurt. You would also see the occasional cheats, like today I had half of a serving of lays light potato chips. Sunday I had a chocolate chip cookie, etc, etc. Again, this is what works for me. I'm not suggesting that you change what you have planned, I'm just telling you what I eat, roughly. What you have listed already sounds very healthy. For everyone else, if your eyes haven't already glazed over, congratulations. This is probably way more information than even Tina wanted to know. :D |
Hi Girls . . .
DIANA . . . . Now I know exactly what you mean. ;) It will be another month or two before those hit around here. They are predicting that March is coming in like a lamb tomorrow . . . so that means we will be in for a nasty month. TINA . . . Believe me, I asked about giving him a needle and the answer was an unfortunate, 'no'. Glad you are feeling a bit more, Gung-ho about getting your act back together. BTW, do you think we should start a new thread or just keep going in this one? Entirely up to you. Nobody has complained about slow load-time so I guess none of our gang is still on dial-up. ROBBIN . . . Wow, girl, I certainly agree . . . don't beat yourself up. You just never know what the human body will do. This week I had the worst average calorie intake I've had to record in the 14 months since i started keeping track and then I was down .6 of a pound at my WWI this morning. So you might get a surprise, too, once the WWW leaves. TAMMY . . . Not boring at all. I found every sentence interesting and helpful. As a matter of fact I'm going to print it off for future reference. You are such an inspiration to me. I know you are not to your goal yet, but you are doing so fantastically well, you help to keep me going. Now for me . . . as mentioned I'm down .6 and that's a :goodvibes moment. Stopped in to say Hi to Mouse and, of course, he is being as good as gold for them. The other two are doing fine. I was watching Purrecious running and jumping around the house this morning exactly one week after her hysterectomy and thinking how The GYN showed me pictures of this far from little Fibroid in my uterus and unfortunately, because it is so large and is distorting things so badly, he has no choice but to do the hysterectomy abdominally so that means a longer recovery.:( Anyway, it is booked for June 7. Would have liked to get it over with sooner, but 'c'est la vie'. So I'm going to go ahead with the cataract surgery that is already scheduled for end of March (left) and beginning of May (right). Boy, why does everything always come in droves. :?: Well I'd better get going . . . want to go make that little tiny update to my ticker, have some brekkie, and think about going out to the store . . . but it is sleeting ice right now, so think I'll pass on the last one. Have a great moving and shaking day, gang. Keep on doing the good stuff and I'll see you soon. . . :carrot: |
Good morning ladies, how is everyone today?
My scales are down to 221 so .4 is gone. I stuck to my meal plan yesterday and was very satisfied, I did not get any expercise in but am not beating myself up for that because it was a very very busy evening. Tammy - I wan to thank you for your post to Tina. I read every bit of it and my eyes did not glaze over, LOL. I think I am eating alot of the same things you are but I also think I have more meat (chicken and fish) in there than you and have not cut the potatos. I do the same with my bread as you do cause it will last me forever. I have 2 1/2 loaves in the freezer right now, that have been there for mmm at least 4 weeks, so I have eat 1/2 a loaf in a month. I usually have about 4-6 ounces of chicken for dinner and 3 ounces for lunch, I hardly ever ever have any meat for breakfast, it is usually oatmeal or a veggie omlet made with egg beaters. Looking at my fitday my protien is usually around 120 - 130. I don't know if that is bad or good? I eat tons of veggies, my plate at dinner will be mostly veggies with my chcken breast. I have to admit that last night I quarted my plate and 1/4 was potato 1/4 was chicken and the other half was veggies. I also buy the reduced fat no sugar icecream and have 1 serving almost every night. Linda - I wish my scales would have dropped after the bad calorie intake bu oh no not for me, LOL. You loose very slow and I think you have the best willpower I have ever seen. Well ladies, I guess it is time for work. Check back later. |
::drum roll, please:: My total loss is now up to 16.8 lbs!!!! :) :) :) I lost a total of exactly 4 lbs this week!!! I'm seriously pumped, guys! You have no earthly idea!!! When I began this journey in 2004 (remember I took approx. a 3 year break between the first loss and now) I weighed in at my first weight watcher meeting at 260 lbs.....I'm at 223 now. I was thinking last night that I'd gained some 80 lbs since I got married in '93. I've now lost almost half of that weight! I've never been this pumped up before, I don't think!! I used to feel like it was impossible...because I had soooooo much to lose. I'm only 5' 4" so the high end of my healthy body weight is 145! When you start at 260, it can seem a little overwhelming, as most of you well know! :) The further along I go, of course the more I feel like I can really, really do this! :) I would not be feeling this sense of accomplishment if I didn't have you ladies to fall back on everyday! You guys are my rock...you all help keep me accountable!
Well, I'm off to clean house. :( |
Good morning girlies! I'm down 3lbs. from yesterdays weigh-in so I'm feeling pretty excited! I'm still a ways off from ticker, but I'm determined to get there! Alyssa had a birthday party yesterday afternoon @ 4 and there was food provided for the adults aswell as the kids. I'm happy to say that I sat around watching everyone else fill their faces with chips, pop, hot dogs and cake while held my own. I was absolutely starving to smell that stuff as I was an hour past my usual dinner time...but I did it...I held it out! Came home and as calmly as I could prepared my dinner as fast as I could trying not to graze. It worked and scales are loving me for it!
Tammy, thanks so much for taking the time to lay it all out for me. I guess the only difference would be that I tend to eat more starchy carbs. I looked right away at my bread, applesauce and dressing. 2 outta 3 there...seems my low-fat dressing does have corn syrup listed 3rd from the top. I've always thought about making my own dressing and now maybe that ain't such a bad idea! Lately I've loading up on veggies too. I can easily get 2-3 maybe more servings of veggies in a dinner...I love em'! You certainly got it figured out and thanks again for sharing some of your insight! You're a strong woman! Linda, boy you sure have a lot coming up on your plate. You'll basically be spending your spring recovering from surgeries. Just know we're here for you whenever you need us! I was thinking about a new thread too, but I wasn't if anyone would be annoyed with a new one yet again. What does everyone think? New thread for March?? Robbin, I'm glad you're feeling yourself slide back into the groove again. You'll fit that exercise in today right! And you'll feel much better for it. Diana, congratulations on the loss girl! Way to go! It's so rewarding to see our efforts come full circle. You truly are a committed woman, keep up the great work. It gets far more exciting as you see new scale numbers that you haven't seen in years. Woo Hoo! Well girls, I'm off to the elliptical. Have a great day! TTFN! |
Okay girls, I took it upon myself to create a new thread for the month. A new month, a fresh start!
