1lb. Down And Plenty More To Go! - 2007

:welcome3: to ~ One LB. Down and Plenty More To GO!

Old friends and New friends,

This thread is open to any and all ladies who have more than a "few" pounds to lose. We all know that if it's more than a "few" that it's gonna take sometime to get rid of it. And when you're in a certain place in your life for a while it's great to have some friends around that know exactly how you feel and know exactly what you're going through. Having support via family and friends is great and certainly a welcomed thought, but sometimes they just don't get it. We'll help encourage you through the down times, discourage you when the dieting alter ego wants to take over and then encourage you some more! Just jump in and make yourself at home. Let's try to live, love and laugh our "weigh" through this!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Well, it's the 2nd January here and I'm sure Tina won't mind me starting the 2007 thread.

I had a good day. Even after New Year's Eve at my mum's, having the most gorgeous roast chicken dinner with yorkshire pudding and sausages, and trifle for dessert, I was down a pound this morning from yesterday.

TOM arrived this morning also so hopefully that contributed partly to my shameful 11 lb gain over Christmas.

AND, not only that I did my exercise DVD for the first time since flipping Easter. Over the summer I did a fair bit of cycling and walking but since September all I've really done is a bit of halfhearted swimming. So, new Year, new start. I'm back doing my DVD three times a week like I did last year.

But, I tell you what - it's a heck of a lot easier than it was last January!

So, I have booked a holiday in Portugal next July for me and my little girl - and I am determined to be bikini-sexy by then. I've actually changed my goal from 140 to 133 - I may even try for 130, depending on how I look. I have a lot of belly flab and love handles still that I'd like to tone up.

We were doing a countup of all we've lost in 2006 from the old thread - I'll copy the list so we can add to it.

Robsia - 67 lbs
Tammy - 87 lbs
Linda - 45 lbs
Emily- 32 lbs
Cheryl - 25 lbs

meowee 01-01-2007 08:02 PM

Hi Robsia . . .

Glad to hear you are having a good day. I know what you mean . . . it is a lot easier to get back in the swing of things after a little 'meltdown' than it used to be a year or so ago . . . hey, what do you think, maybe we actually learned something over the past year. ;)

Anyway, chickie . . . have a great moving and shaking kind of day again tomorrow (later today for you). See you soon. :carrot:

Ready to Rock 2007!! Happy New YEAR!

Sorry all for being MIA, just the holidays have gotten me a little more than pre-occupied, which I know is NO excuse for not taking five and coming to check in. I hid the laptop under my dresser so that it's outta reach to little hands, now THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER!! In a strange way, I'm relieved...doesn't that sound terrible. I've been a busy bee putting my house back in order and stuffing the Christmas cheer back in their containers. It took me a week to decorate and a day to put it all away...how does that make sense?? LOL!!

Anyways...exactly one year ago tonight I made a change. I found some wonderful friends here and was about to embark on the tough task of losing 104lbs.!! Yikes, that sounded like the impossible, but in fact quite doable. So far, ticker says I've lost 57lbs. (psst..still owning it till I totally get back to routine). Now tonight, exactly one year later I'm turning a new page and about to embark on another tough task of losing 47 more lbs. Totally sounds doable, doesn't it!! I'm really excited! I'm about to plan my menus for the week and get ready to do some shopping (healthy shopping for it tomorrow), not quite so excited for the workouts (who said they would ever come easY?) but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! My husband is still waving the Hawaii trip in front of me for my goal retreat...hehehe!! I have no excuses, I have a ton of choices and I intend on making the best of it!

Seems we have a new thread, you're right Robsia, we totally needed one and I intended on doing that...but like I said, I was too preoccupied. The only thing I wish we could have done was to (repost) the welcoming post just in case we get some newbies.

I hope you all had a great holiday and totally ready to rock the year of more weight loss and healthy successes.

By the way the scale did indeed drop down 217.5 so hopefully these holiday pounds will disappear as fast as they came!

A ONE YEAR COMPARATIVE....

So glad you made it TINA . . . I was getting worried. :( Why don't you c&p the original greeting -- so what if it's a little bit down the page -- at least it will be there. :D

Boy oh boy - - - those two pictures really show how well you've done. Hardly know it was the same girl - - - you really are sure they are both you, eh?

Robsia 01-02-2007 07:05 AM

I edited my post to include the greeting!! Good idea Tina.

You look amazing - you have done so well.

Linda - thanks for the motivation. Looking back over the last year, I KNOW now that I can lose this last 20 lbs. When I look back over my monthly weight loss stats, it is so obvious that when I stopped doing my DVD 3x a week, my weight loss dropped from 5-6 lbs a month to 2-3 lbs a month. Definitely a no-brainer, but I was too lazy to make myself do it.

This moring my weight was down another pound! So looks like this Christmas gain won't be too long in coming off *fingers crossed*

RRVMMM 01-02-2007 09:14 AM

Hey Girls how is everyone doing? Sorry I have been sporatic about posting lately. I have just not been in the mindset to keep going with this journey. After not getting on the scales all weekend and once again not eating on plan my scales are back to 222 this morning. UGH I so hate that number. That is a total of 7 pounds gained for the holiday season. I guess if you look at the stats I am an average American cause thats what all the experts say we Americans gain over the holidays. But I don't want to be average. I wanted to be able to control myself. HAH, so much for that. This morning I woke up so dissapointed in myself. I slipped and now it is time to get my grip back. Or so I thought when I gave myself the long long talk on the way to work this morning but ding bat me I forgot my breakfast and lunch at home. The lunch isn't so bad I can order out for a salad and stay healthy but not eating breakfast is going to throw me way off and by dinner tonight I will feel like I am starving.

OK OK I am sorry that I am rambling on and being a Whiny Baby. As for adding my name to the list I am sticking with what Robsia said. I did loose 60 pounds for 2006 so that is what I will put down even though the holidays saw 7 of it come back. I am now determined to GET BACK ON TRACK!!!!!

Robsia - 67 lbs
Tammy - 87 lbs
Linda - 45 lbs
Emily - 32 lbs
Cheryl - 25 lbs
Tina - 57 lbs
Robbin - 61 lbs

meowee 01-02-2007 10:14 AM

Good Morning, girls . . .

Hey . . . my quickly gained Christmas weight is gone as of this morning and I was back to my ticker weight of 239.8. :carrot: It really did leave pretty quickly. So glad my philosophy proved true. Wow . . . I hope it works quickly for all of you, too.

Anyway, I've now changed my ticker completely to reflect the new year and the new lap on the great downward journey. I'm going to stick with my regular WWI from now on . . . this was kind of a special, one-time event. I've been weighing everyday this past week just to see how long it took to get rid of the 'goodies'. Wowee, wowee, wowee . . . the fresh new start feels sooooo good.

So great to hear that everybody is back into the "WE CAN DO IT" mind-set. We can do it, gang. Just keep moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. See you soon. :carrot:

LadyLai 01-02-2007 11:49 AM

Happy Tuesday!

Thanks Robsia for editing your post! I just want anyone who would by chance take a peek in here would feel more welcomed.

Linda, wow! Big congrats to you for dissolving your holiday gain so quickly. I'm big time envious of you! LOL!

Robbin, hey girl! Best not start out feeling depleted, we're still in this! Time to put our brains back in gear and start sweating it off again.

Well, I have a somthing caught in my clogs this morning...I slept in till 9! It just throws my morning when I'm off schedule a bit. I'm very maticulous(sp?), one little blurp can cause my whole day to go down the drain. I'm determined to stick to it though, even if I don't get down to exercise when I wanted to, it has to be done! Scales are a little nastier today, but I'm so tight a.k.a retaining big time! I should be off and making a great start in 2007 for this last half of my battle!

TTFN!

Cheryl120 01-02-2007 01:07 PM

Morning Ladies and a very happy 2007 to all of YOU!!! I can't tell you how happy I am to finally see the Holidays over with. Never had a white Christmas, but we did have a very white New Year's. We got 14" of heavy wet snow, which is unusual for us. Thank God for four wheel drive, the only way we are able to get out of our yard right now. Still have to dig the car out sometime today. I wasn't going to report what the scales had to say till tomorrow, but I couldn't resist stepping on them this morning. :woohoo: I'm down 4 lbs.

Robsia...I wish I would of given my total loss for 2006 instead of what I had lost on that day. Anyway, my total loss for 2006 was 37 lbs. Portugal sounds like a lovely trip and you will be so sleek and sexy in your bikini.

Tina...All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!! What a difference 50 lbs makes, and I think you look younger.

Well gang, I need to get my butt in gear. Have to take the FD to town and it will take longer to get there since the roads haven't been cleared yet. Here's a little :dust:for all of us to share.

Cheryl

happy new year !!!

Hi Ladies

I told you I would be back ! It might be slow going, but I will try to keep up with your posts and write when I can. If nothing else I will try for my famous "fly-bys".

A friend sent this to me and I thought it was rather appropriate as we start off a fresh year.. I hope you enjoy it :D (my apologies for the length ;) )

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee...

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the
jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things -- your God, family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions -- things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car.

The sand is everything else -- the small stuff."

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls."

The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

Take care of the golf balls first -- the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.

Good Evening!

Evening chickies...just popping in to pass some time and gear my mind towards weight loss not cravings! LOL! I had a good day, totally on plan..which tastes better than any sort of chocolate or salty snack I might think I am craving right now! :D

Cheryl, wow, you really got dumped on. We've had rain today, which would be nice if it didn't freeze on contact. Makes getting around impossible unless you pack your skates! Congrats on the awesome loss! Wow 4lbs. is amazing, I'm so glad we're able to report great things this soon after the holidays! Woo Hoo!

Hi Colleen, and welcome to the group! I'll be facing my 29th birthday next month, I'd love just to be in ONEderland by then! That will be as close to HOT as I've been in years..hahaha! Congrats on getting rid of your first pound...keep em' coming!

Jordan, welcome aswell! Congrats on your loss so far! That's quite the accomplishment! What is your plan of action?

Hey Louie! Good to see you again! Loved your post, it's so appropiate to be reminded of this isn't it.

I guess that's all...I shall find other ways to keep my mind occupied. Perhaps surf the goal forums! Have a great night!

TTFN!

Wow - it's a whole year since I posted this in the introductions thread. Since then I have lost 67 pounds and my sister has put on about 30.

We are now wearing the same size clothes but she's about 5 inches smaller than me so she looks bigger on it. So I actually looked better than her this Christmas for the very first time ever in my whole entire life!!!

Is it rotten to be a tiny bit pleased about this? ;)

Welcome to Jordan! You've done really well so far - is that since September?

Louie - thanks for that story, I think I may have heard it before but it was ages ago and it's always worth repeating.

Tina - you are hot now girl! Bet your hubbie can't believe his luck!

I only lost a tiny bit this morning, 0.2, but I did my exercise DVD last night, having done it the night before, and boy could I feel it!! I think I should have a day off in between - but I was feeling all virtuous! Still, it shows it's working when your muscles ache.

meowee 01-03-2007 09:03 AM

Good Morning . . . the sun is shining, but it's cold enough to freeze the hair off a frog . . . however, they are saying much warmer for tomorrow . . . which probably means more rain . . . guess I'd better get out there and enjoy it while I can.

LOUIE . . . . . . So glad to see you. Truer words were never spoken --- we all need to be reminded once in awhile --- "don't sweat the small stuff".

TINA . . . . . . Right you are, girl. Success, be it big or small, is definitely tastier than any chocolate ever produced.

ROBSIA . . . . . . Love your 'evil motivation' and boy did it ever work out. Hope your success motivates your sister toward better stuff, too.

Okay, chickies, keep it moving and shaking today. Here's some :dust: to help us all keep moving in the right downward direction. See you soon. :carrot:

RRVMMM 01-03-2007 09:20 AM

Ok ladies I know I need to do personals and I am really sorry that I haven't for so long. But I am not able to fit them in right now either. I will try my hardest to get back here on my lunch today to get them in.

My scales are down 1 pound to 221 this morning so maybe it won't be long till I am back at ticker weight. I stayed on plan yesterday with eating but never did fit in the exercise I know I need to do. So far today I am on plan and had my oatmeal for breakfast, I brought an orange for a snack and low fat low car egg rolls for lunch. Haven't thought about dinner yet but will figure it out later.

Better get clocked into work. Check back later.

Oh by the way, All of you need to remember....I Love Ya.

mrsgeb2 01-03-2007 10:11 AM

over the holidays, i eat whateva and partied a lot, but i only gained one pound and lost an inch!!!! weight loss is by the far strangest thing, i was totally off plan, but still lost. now that i'm back to work, i'll start obsessing over everything i eat again and probably gain weight! it's so weird!!!! even though i'm a lil late i want to wish all of you a happy new year, may we all achieve our weight loss goals in 2007!!! luv ya, ladies!!!

LadyLai 01-03-2007 01:36 PM

Happy Wednesday!

Good morning ladies! And what a fine morning it is! I steered clear of all temptations lastnight and boy was it worth it! I gotta say yesterday was really the first day of completely being back on plan and it showed, scales were at 215! So do I count the actual holiday gain as 3lbs?? Because I know what the scale was showing was a lot of water retention and considering how much I pee'd yesterday I'm thinking I'm safe in saying 3lbs. is actual gainage....I know...I know...I'm muttering..but I got keep coming up with what makes me feel better right?! LOL!

Robsia, you're too kind with your flattery. Although, hubby seems to be a little more touchy feely since losing some weight. I bet your SO isn't turning his nose at you either!! You know this may sound a little harsh, but....YAY! You beat out your sister. Now back to reality...I hope that she is motivated to get healthy by watching you. I only cheer because I am in the same situation as yourself. I am the biggest sibling and I've always felt bad for it. My sister is only 5ft. so she may only weigh 170-180 but she is bigger than me circumference wise and secretly it feels good! LOL!

Linda, hahaha! Love the freezing the hair off of a frog! We're at a +2, and the sun is glorious. Hope you get a little warmer.

Robbin, keep sticking to plan and you'll be getting some great new numbers soon! Congrats on getting the scale down one pound. It's a step back in the right direction!

Jus, okay...let us in on your secret girl! LOL! Congrats to you! Here's to sticking butts back on the grind stone!

Have a great day girls! I've got some errands to run!

TTFN!

Cheryl120 01-03-2007 08:37 PM

Evening Ladies...First a GREAT BIG :welcome: to Colleen and Jordan! Sounds like you ladies are on the right track. congrats to you both for your losses.

No time for personals tonight, since I had a really busy day and was gone most of it. It was weigh-in day at Weight Watchers, and by their scales, I was down 6 lbs. Totally excited about that, since I made a promise to get back on program the day after christmas and it payed off big time. My ticker is correct, so I still have 8 lbs to go to get back to what I weighed before going on vacation last July.

Have any of you ladies read the new "People" magazine that is out about the people that lost half their size. If you get a chance, grab it! Also has the Biggest Looser" in it. Lots of information on how each of them lost their weight and the food plans they followed.

Linda...I didn't know frogs have hair...LOL...I'll have to remember that saying the next time we are below O. Today we had a record high of 47, and it started melting all that snow. Tomorrow morning we will probably be an ice skating rink for those that have to drive to work. Good day to stay home and quilt.

Have a great evening and don't give in to the cravings. Swim suit weather is only 5 months away.

Cheryl

Louie 01-03-2007 08:46 PM

Hola Chicks

It's nice to be back in the swing of these. I certainly got way off track the past few months, but I am determined that 2007 will be a successful year for me. I am taking some time to come up with a good eating plan and I am on the hunt for the perfect lunch kit

I know that seems kinda crazy but I figure if I am going to pack a lunch everyday then I'm gonna do it in style. I was actually looking at this one whatchathink?? The thing I like about it is that it is portion controlled.

Tina - thanks for the welcome back. Your recent picture is gorgeous..definately a noticeable change over the past year.

Robsia - funny what we can accomplish when we put our mind to it. Great job on the recent loss !!

Linda - seems all of Canada is experiencing some rather wierd weather trends. We have been having some horrible wind storms lately.

Robbin - congrats on the 1 lb !! Your meals for the day sound yummy.

Jus - you must be doing something right, keep up the good work !

Well I am just in from work, so I better go figure out something for dinner. Take care and TTYS

jtammy 01-03-2007 11:48 PM

Hi ladies,

Well I'm back at work, so not as much free time to post. I just wanted to drop in and say hello (and get subscribed to the new thread so I can keep up with it better) :).

Tina, I love the new photo. You're gorgeous already. Just imagine how you'll look when you get to goal this year.

Louie, I love the story. I'm saving it to read again. Sometimes I think I have too much sand in my life. I like that lunch kit. Does it all stack inside the canister?

Jus, Great job on losing. Isn't it funny how it happens when we don't expect it.

Cheryl, Woohoo on losing the four lbs. Sounds like you had a cold wet new years.

Robbin, I know you'll drop those holiday pounds soon. Just keep your head up and keep working on it.

Coleen
and Jordan, Welcome to you both. These ladies are great support. Keep posting.

Linda, I'm glad your theory about weight quickly put on, coming off quickly also. It's a relief to get back down to ticker weight, even though I was only there for a day before the ticker went back to 217 :p .

Robsia, hehehe for your evil motivation. We won't tell her that you're secretly enjoying being smaller than her. ;) For the first time in a good many Christmases, I'm smaller than my sis too. She had gastric bypass surgery in 2005, but isn't being very careful about what she eats anymore. I want her to get back on track, but I'm secretly enjoying weighing less and being smaller. I wish I could pull her back on track, but no one else can do that. She'll have to be ready on her own.

I've been back on track this week. I'm hoping to see a shift in the scale in the morning, but as we all know, the scale had a mind of its own. I can't remember if I reported this in the old thread or not, and I've got to get to bed and don't have time to double check, so please forgive me if it's a repeat. I went shopping over the weekend and discovered that I'm out of the women's sizes now. I can wear a 16 in the misses section in bottoms and a 14/16 in tops. I was so excited as it has been many years since I could say that.

Nikel1979 01-04-2007 12:12 AM

 Hi. I posted here and after my ds switching shifts (twice!), moving, and going back to school, I just never found the time.

Here's a little info about me. My name is Nicole, and I just turned 27 a few weeks ago. I'm a SAHM (Ben is 3, and Lauren will be 2 in two weeks) and a full-time college student. After I had my ds, I was back in my pre-preg clothes by 1 week. After my dd, it just never happened. I'm at my heaviest weight ever, 232. I think my goal is 150ish. I'm just going to play it by ear. If I remember correctly, I was around 130 and a size 3 when I graduated high school. That's a bit thinner than I like for me, so I'm going to around a 6 or 8.

ELEM-PGF 01-04-2007 07:50 AM

Glad to be here once again!

Howdy ladies, glad to be back amongst such a wonderful group of ladies and how awesome there are already too many posts to read in a quick glance this morning!!

A great big :welcome3: to all the new the new names I have seen as I have scrolled through this morning. I am putting in the "what i lost in 06 list" again so that i can remind myself what i did accomplish.

WHAT WE LOST IN 2006
Robsia - 67 lbs
Tammy - 87 lbs
Linda - 45 lbs
Emily - 32 lbs
Cheryl - 37 lbs
Tina - 57 lbs
Robbin - 61 lbs
Erin - 55lbs

There was actually a time that the number was 60 pounds but going by what i weighed on 1/1/07 that would be the most accurate. Now if we count all the actual ups and downs through that year it was probably 75 but lets just go with overall net loss!!!

Ladies i have to admit my year has not started well. I had two of my paitents pass away over the weekend and also we had a good friend of ours from church die very suddenly Saturday morning. He was only 44 years old had been married to the love of his life for only 2 years. They were the most awesome couple you would ever want to meet and were truly the example we all need of what christian love can do for a marriage. Their faith was strong and real (they were active bikers and involved in biker minisitry). They constantly loved on each other verbally and physically and it was a pleasure to be around them. The wife's son was injured in a 4 wheeler wreck 6 weeks prior to this and was partially paralyzed (originally told he would never walk again but is now doing it, slowly but doing it). So her faith had already been completely rocked and she was really struggling, so we all worried what the death of the love of her life would do to her. I watched her lay on the floor snuggled to his cold dead body and just say over and over "I am sorry" and ask why God, why. I thought how will she ever survive this. But let me tell you from Saturday about 9am when he died to sunday morning she found her peace with God and his plan for her life and she is already full of joy for the 2 years she had with him and the witness this opportunity is bringing her.

Okay sorry off on a tangent here but point being ladies, life is here and now and you never know when you may find it over in the blink of an eye, so truly live like today is your last, love God, love your family and love yourself enough to make the best of each day we are given. Most importantly love God, with all your heart, soul, mind and body!

Okay sorry for the preaching but after the experiences i have been through this last 5 days i feel compelled!

So I am moving forward with this weight loss thing and going to make the most of each day and not expect perfection. I will know that each struggle, plateau, and loss are part of a greater plan to bring glory where it is truly deserved!

Okay okay if i keep going here ya'll are going to boot me to the religion thread! I really am lighthearted and fun, promise!

Anyway, i do have to run for now but will try to get back soon and get some personals in. Again a huge welcome to all the new faces and glad to see so many of the old gang here too!

Happy Thursday!

Hey there girlies!

Having a pretty good day so far. Got my exercise under my belt and a good start on the water. Had 1/2cup yogurt, banana and cup of milk for breakfast. Lean ham and tomato sandwich on 12 grain, cup of grapes and of course a bottomless cup of water for lunch. And going to make a A-lo Fat Hawaiin pizza for dinner, intend on having two slices with a side salad. I think that should be pretty good. I tell ya, there's nothing like planning meals ahead to help keep you in line.

Cheryl, wow! You sure are rockin'! It's so exciting! Keep it up and you'll be constantly changing that ticker lower and lower. Your so motivating right now.

Louie, love the attitude! 2007 will be your year, and mine, and ours!! I like the new lunch kit, especially how the containers as you say are portioned controlled and stack inside the kit. Really cool...you deserve it!

Hey Tammy! I can't wait to make my dreams a reality. I'm looking forward to meeting goal right along with you! Do you have any before and during pics you'd like to share? I mean you have the greatest success of us all, so inspirational! Congrats on the new clothing size...it makes it all worth it doesn't it!

Welcome back Nicole! Looking forward to seeing less of you more often! hehe! Make yourself at home and realize you can do this!! Woo Hooo!

Erin, wow...is all I can say about your post. How revitalizing! I know it sure put things into perspective for me. Live each day as best as you can and make choices that'll benefit you in the long run. Don't sweat the small stuff and be happy in the moment. You just never know what life holds for you around the corner. So sorry for all losses you've had recently, it's gotta be so tough.

Have a great day ladies!!
TTFN!

Hi Gang . . . I've had a strange, but fun day . . .

First of all . . . I took Cod Liver Oil for the first time in about 58 years. :D I have to tell you the story . . . a couple of days ago when I was complaining about the damp weather and my arthritis aches, a girl on another forum mentioned that she takes CLO and finds it really helps.

After I got finished gagging . . . I wrote back and told her this story . . . I was a strange child (guess I'm still strange, but that's beside the point) in that I really liked Cod Liver Oil when I was about 5 . . . I liked it so much that my Mother used to hide the bottle so I wouldn't see it and bug her to give me more. Anyway, you guessed it, I found it one day and drank everything that was left in the bottle. Luckily, no serious or long-lasting problems . . . but do I need to tell you that the mere thought of CLO makes me queasy to this day.

Anyway, I decided it was time I got over this silliness so off I went to buy some of the terrifying stuff . . . ended up getting CLO capsules because I just could not face the smell of the liquid (they are the size of gumballs :o ). Now, we'll just have to see if it does anything for the arthritis pain, but at least I conquered an almost 60-year demon ,. :D

Second event today . . . well it started yesterday when I bought myself one of those big gym balls. It came with a stability ring and a set of tension bands that you attach to the stability ring so you can do stretches while seated on the ball.

My girlfriend came over for coffee as I was starting to inflate this 'animal' this morning. After we stopped laughing about all the exercise I was getting just pumping this thing up, we then took turns bouncing on it to my CrazyFrog video. :dizzy: After about an hour of getting more and more silly (don't forget we're both in our sixties), we finally had to go out and buy one for her to have at home too. Anyway -- bet we will both be sore tomorrow. She also had to buy the Crazy Frog video. By the time we finished running all over town, the day was pretty much over.

Just to top it all off, my eating has been good today, so far, too. However, I have no idea what I want for dinner because I never got around to making any plans. Guess I could call and ask LouLou what they are having, but she's probably too busy blowing up her ball. ;)

So that was my day . . . Hope everyone of you has had a day full of good stuff and a little fun.

ERIN . . . Sounds like you've had some good stuff, although we certainly can't call it fun. Definately shows that things do happen for reason though . . . even if we do not know what it might be at the time. Glad your friend is coping so well.

NICOLE . . . a great big welcoming  for you. Hope you will like it here. We are crazy (at least I am) :dizzy: . . . but very supportive of each other.

TAMMY . . . Yes you did tell us about that wonderful size discovery already . . . but not to worry, good news is always worth repeating. ;) and isn't it wonderful how the little foibles of the scale- don't seem nearly as terrifying after you've been on this journey for a while.

TINA . . . Glad your day is going well, too. You are so right about pre-planning being a wonderful thing to help keep you on track . . . unfortunately, I'm not great at it. :^:

Oh my goodness, I've posted a novel. Sorry to keep bending your ears like that. Keep things moving and shaking, gang. If we do the best we can, we will be rewarded. See you soon. :carrot:

Cheryl120 01-04-2007 08:40 PM

Hi Gang!

Robsia...Hehehe. There is "evil motivation" in all of us. I can't wait to be smaller than my two sisters. How sweet the moment for you to savor.

Louie...Thanks for the "don't sweat the small stuff". I'm going to pass it on to a few friends. Pretty nice container to pack your lunch in. I wouldn't mind one.

Tammy...Size 16, how wonderful!!! Bet you can't wait to get into a 14. We had wet snow for New Years, but it wasn't cold. We were out at midnight shooting off fireworks.

Nicole...Welcome back! The more the merrier!! :carrot:

Erin...So sorry for your losses this week. You are right, we need to cherish each day we have, and the people we share it with.

Tina...WOW! You are off to a good start with your meals planned for the day. How was your low fat pizza? Sounds yummy!

Linda...You brave woman. I took castor oil mixed with orange juice to help my labor along. Don't know if they are the same, but it was gross!! Never again!!! Hope it helps your arthritist.

Well ladies, I decided to try something different. Had 5 oz baked chicken breast, 1 c green beans and 3 oz baked potato with 1 TB ff ranch dressing for breakfast. Lunch was a LC pizza, raw broccoli and mushroom, 1/2 c grapes and 2 TB ff ranch dressing. Dinner was 1 c oatmeal, 1 c cantalope/strawberries and ff yogurt. It has really helped keep my cravings down. I'm anxious to see how many pounds I drop following this for a week. Tomorrow morning, I'm having 1 c whole wheat pasta with 1/2 c sauce and a small toss salad with ff ranch dressing. YUM!

Have a great night.

cheryl

Hi Ladies

Tammy - yes, all those little containers have lids and fit into the bigger container.. now to see if I can find a location in Canada that sells them !
Congrats on the change in sizes.. that is awesome and you must feel so good about yourself.

Nicole - :welcome: nice to meet you and look forward to getting to know you.

Erin - glad to have you back and thanks for sharing  One of my best friends passed away in October at the age of 42..it definately made me appreciate every day so much more.

Tina - I think you are on to something there.. I think I definately need to start planning my meals a day ahead.

Linda - Don't know that I have ever tried COL, but if I have to I think I will go for the pill version ;) Sounds like you and your GF had a great time !! and I have to ask.. what is the crazy frog video :?:

Cheryl - and interesting day of meals... I know there are no rules about what you eat at what time of the day, but I don't think I have ever thought about eating chicken, green beans and potatoes at breakfast. Let us know how it turns out on the scales.

Today is my friday.. I have the day off tomorrow..YAHOO ! Not sure what I will, although I do need to crack the books for at least a few hours.

Well I best skedaddle.. take care and TTYS

Hi ladies,

Louie, I thought I was the only person who didn't know what crazy frog was. I"m still not sure, although my kids have tried to explain it. Enjoy your day off tomorrow.

Cheryl, castor oil and orange juice?? Eeeww, that sounds nasty. :p Did you see this week's People magazine? It was the issue spotlighting people who have lost half of their body weight. One of the "losers" did it the way you ate today. "Dinner" foods in the morning, breakfast foods at night. I think I read that she was writing (or maybe had already written) a book called "The Reverse Diet".

Linda, You've conquered your cod liver oil demons today, huh :). I can't even stand the smell of the capsules - at least the ones I remember from years ago, have they changed at all? You must have burnt loads of calories bouncing around on the exercise ball. Just curious - did you ever find out anything about HFCS labeling in Canada?

Hey Tina, Hawaiin pizza sounds delish. How did it turn out?

I've looked before and I can't find any full length before photos. I've posted a couple of before photos from the face up. Here is the link http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87064. I was soooo good at hiding from the camera. I wish it were different now of course, but I can't help it. Okay, I'm also posting a new picture of me DH took for me today just for you. :) The pants are too big, but until they start falling off, I keep wearing them.

Oh Erin, I'm so sorry for the tragedies that have occured to your friend. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for her dealing with her son's injury and her husband's death. I hope she continues to have peace about her time with her husband.

Nicole, Welcome. I hope you post frequently.

Well guys, I stayed on plan today with my food, but I didn't exercise this morning. So there goes one of my two days off this week. I've got to get to bed early enough tonight to feel like getting up.

Take care!

Robsia 01-05-2007 06:32 AM

Well, as of this morhning I am down 3 lbs since Sunday so I'm doing pretty well so far in getting rid of the Christmas gainage.

I had my first meeting of my slimmers' group since Christmas and I didn't put on the least, but I didn't put on the most either. But we're all motivated for the New Year now.

I tried a new exercide DVD last night and I struggled with it. I managed the warmup easily, but I literally could not keep up with the main part of the routine - they were all professional dancers and they went SO fast, so I flicked forward to the bums/tums bit, which I found quite easy and the cooldown. But the whole thing is 1h 20mins compared to my old one at 50 mins. So I think I'll be going back to my old one. For a while at least.

Robbin - congrats on the scales being down. You'll be back to pre-Christmas weight in no time!!

jusj - I am so envious that you only gained a pound over Christmas!! Well done

Tina - I guess I count the whole thing as 'gainage' and then when it comes off quickly I can say "yay!" But whatever works for you.

Cheryl - wow, 6 lbs!! That's fab.

Louie - well that lunch jar is nice, but a bit too pricey for me. I just go a with a £3 plastic box!!

Tammy - congrats on your new size and being smaller than your sister! Scales are quirky as we know - I am sure you'll see a change soon. WOW - on the pics. You look fab. You are doing SO well!! Have you added your weight loss to the list?

Nicole - welcome back and welcome to the group.

Erin - I am so sorry to hear about your losses! These things do make us hug our loved ones just that bit tighter don't they. ((hugs))

Linda - ewwwwwwwww on the CLO!! I never had it but it always sounded so gross to me. Glad you managed to find some in capsule form, as they do say it's really good for the joints. LOL about the gym ball! I can just imagine two, um, 'mature' ladies bouncing away on them like kids!

ELEM-PGF 01-05-2007 06:59 AM

Morning Glories!:) Hope ya'll are doing well and feeling motivated! Scales are still kind of acting weird, well i say scales but it is really my body, so i am moving the ticker up to where i really am. trying to stay away from living in denial. Haven't been getting much exercise in so hope to change that this weekend and really get things moving again!

Linda - you crack me up lady!!!! I can just picture two laughing 60 year olds bouncing on a great big ball. I love the big ball and use it with my patients all the time. I think the oldest I'vd had on it so far was a 94 year old man! He cussed me a lot but was really disappointed if we didn't do it!! I have a 101 year old I plan to get on it in the next few weeks! Ya'll keep bouncing it is a fabulous exercise tool!

Tina - okay you are inspiring me once again. I have never been one for meal planning but I've got to make some changes to get things back on track so maybe that is the route i am going to try!

Cheryl - i am anxious to see how you do with the flipping meals thing. I have heard of people doing that before but seemed like mixed results. Controlling cravings is a huge deal so I may add that to Tina's meal planning and see if i can do some damage to that scale!

Louie - I missed the beginning on the lunch box would you miind filling me in? I am so sorry for the loss you experienced, moving on in a positive way is the best legacy we can have for those we love. Glad to see you are back and more than a fly by!

Tammy - OH MY GOSH GIRL you look fabulous!!!! You should be so proud! I will have to get out and find those before pics to get the full impact! Okay i am lost on the crazy frog thing too, CHERYL can you give us clue?

Robsia - 3# you go girl! Love the Bums and tums bit, is this a dancing exercise video or just done by dancers? I was getting rather proud of my 30 min so 1hr20 min seems impossible! So good job on getting the 50 min routinely!

Well ladies gotta get moving on with another day of baack to reality! It is always so hard to get back into the grind of weekly working when you have been playing hooky a large part of the time for a month now! Thanks so much for all your support and encouragement on the loss of my friend.

Keep at it women we can do this!!!

Robsia 01-05-2007 09:04 AM

It is actually billed as being "the ultimate dance workout".

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pump-Up-Ulti.../dp/B0006O9MWW

If I could mix and match, I'd use their warmup, the main section from my usual DVD, and BOTH bums and tums sections from both DVDs and the cooldown from mine, as theirs goes on for absolutely ever.

But I can't be bothered faffing about changing DVDs over so I'll just go back to my usual till I get a bit fitter - then maybe I'll try the new one again. I didn't buy it fortunately, my sister lent it to me and I copied it (shush - don't tell anyone ;))

RRVMMM 01-05-2007 09:34 AM

Hey ladies I am soooo sorry that this will be another fly by but I have just been so busy. Between work, home, kids, and trying to get everything settled with the Family Support Group so we will be ready for our soldiers to leave for Iraq in May I have been litterally falling into bed at night.

The scales were 220 yesterday and stayed the same this morning. I am staying on track with my eating but just can not seem to find some time for exercise. I really want to exercise though. My son got a new weight bench and weights for Christmas and I really want to start using them to see if it helps me any.

Well I gotta get to work. Boss will be in soon and I have to have everything caught up before he gets here.

Check back later.

Nikel1979 01-05-2007 09:42 AM

Thanks for the welcome everyone. :D I’m feeling pretty confident and good about things right now. 2007 IS going to be the year I get this weight off. I only have to average 1.5 lbs a week, totally realistic. I’ve already lost, though I’m only going to count my Sunday weights. And the part I’m most proud of: I have my menu planned out for next week and a grocery list made for shopping. And it still gets better. I’m taking my mom shopping tomorrow, and I’ve already pulled up the menu for where we’re eating lunch and found something both yummy and that’s healthy. Now I just have to work on getting my schedule for exercise worked out before classes start next Wednesday.

Linda- You’re much braver than me. I’m staying faaaar away from the castor oil. Even when I was 15 days overdue with my daughter, it wasn’t something I’d consider. And you reminded me to call my mom and see if my exercise ball is at her house.

Cheryl-That’s an interesting menu, or at least the order in which you’re eating it. I’ll be interested to see how it works out. Since my husband is still working nights, we’re going to start have “dinner” at lunchtime, so we can still eat as a family.

Tammy- Wow! The pics are amazing. How inspiring.

Robsia- Way to go on the 3 lb loss!

Robin- Sounds like things are pretty busy for you. I hope it eases off soon, and you have the time and energy to fit in some exercise.

meowee 01-05-2007 11:38 AM

Good Morning, Chickies . . .

Wow, my back is killing me this morning . . . probably too much 'ball bouncing' or too much  about the 'ball bouncing'. I think I'm going to love it, but for today, I think Ball and I will just smile at each other from a safe distance. :D

Since many of you had the same comments/questions in response to my novella from yesterday, here are a couple of general answers (so I don't end up writing a sequel. :o )

Cod Liver Oil is a very old-fashioned vitamin A/D supplement that was popular when I was a kid (back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth). It is extracted from the liver of the cod-fish and it does taste really fishy. Most 'normal' people do not like the taste, yucky, (I was never 'normal' I guess). Luckily I can neither taste it or smell it in the capsule form that I got. Castor Oil is from about the same era but is in no way related to CLO. It is really nasty, evil stuff  and used to be given to bad children who complained too much of a stomach-ache. After one dose, they never complained again. :barf: -- At least that's what I hear -- I was never given CO. -- Apparently it was originally extracted from the intestines of a beaver but is actually a natural plant product derived from the bark of some kind of tree.

Crazy Frog is a weird cartoon frog and most of you have probably seen him in some little TV shorts. I think it's aimed at kids, but, hey, I guess I'm 63 going on 3 . . . I love cartoons of all kinds and Crazy Frog songs really get me moving. Here's a link to the 'official - meaning, tryingto sell you something - website' --- SEE THE FROG --- you'll probably recognize him when you see him.

CHERYL . . . That upside down eating-plan sounds great. I'm a cereal lover anyway . . . wonder how three meals of oatmeal a day would work. :o

LOUIE . . . My next question was going to be . . . have you had any experiences ordering stuff from US sites? I mean, I don't mind paying the exchange rate, but I hate it when Revenue Canada tries to tack on duties and special fees . . . had a bad experience buying yarn from Lion Brand, once. :(

TAMMY . . . Wow, girl, those face shots really tell the story. You look fantastic. :D Yes . . . I'm pretty sure that HFCS is Fructose-Glucose on Canadian labels. Guess I need to get over my Cool Whip addiction. :^:

ROBSIA . . . Great going on dropping the 3 pounds . . . the rest will be gone in no time. :)

ERIN . . . Thanks, girl -- suddenly I don't feel so old and silly about my buddy "Ball". :o The cats think I'm insane, of course. Actually, they are right.

ROBBIN . . . Hi there, you 'high-flyer' you.

NICOLE . . . Go get that ball, kiddo. You will do great around here, especially impressed with your pre-planning for the lunch while out shopping. ;)

Well, I'd better get going since it definitely looks like I've :comp: another short story at least. Is this how you started out, Robsia?

Have a great moving and shaking day, girls. We will be rewarded if we just keep doing the best we can as much as we can. See you all really soon.

AndrewsMum 01-05-2007 12:38 PM

LadyLai 01-05-2007 02:43 PM

Happy Friday!

Wow, this place is sure hoppin' today! Love it! I'm having a good day considering the scales played a 'nasty' this morning. I stepped on and they went up 2lbs.! Yikes! You eat right, exercise and still you can't get good results. Well, anyways...the scale can throw whatever it wants at me...I'm still determined to continue without the batt of an eye. There is no alternative, besides I'm doing this to better me in the long run scheme of things...live a healthier life and the scale can decide it's going to come along nicely or take it's time...either way I'm gonna try my hardest to eat sensibly and exercise despite it! Take that scale!!! LOL!

Linda, okay...the picture you painted of you and your friend was priceless! LOL! I gotta thank you for that first and foremost! Cod liver oil, being a easterner, my mom forced it upon me too and I still have bad flashbacks. The aftertaste alone is enough to swear from it for life, and that is exactly what I did. Blechh!!

Cheryl, how's your upside-down day going so far? LOL! They say we should mix things up a bit while trying to lose and you really took it literally! Love the idea though, be interesting to see what results you get from it. If it takes care of cravings then hey, it's all worth it! :) The pizza was really good, my daughter says that I make pizza better than Pizza Hut. Although it made me feel good, inside I was laughing at her ability to suck up at the age of five...haha!

Louie, good luck with finding your lunch box here in Canada. It's such a pain to find alternatives. Hope you are having a great day off and making the most of the time!

Tammy, wow! Thanks for posting your before and during pics! Like Linda says, they sure tell a remarkable story. I'm so inspired by you. You're a rock and the energizer bunny who just keeps on going. You look amazing, you have done amazing...you oughta have your trip to Paris...you so deserve it!! By the way, you are a beautiful woman, lovely face and a knocker of a smile!

Robsia, congrats on the 3lbs. back in the right direction! I've always wanted to try a dance workout, but I'm afraid with my co-ordination it'll never be. I'm sure you will have the routine figured out and bee-boppin along in sinq sooner than you'll give yourself credit for.

Erin, I love your enthusiasm! Just keep coming here and motivating me all you like! LOL! Like you, I'm blaming the scale for all my grief...it's just easier to accept that way..hehe! Brave girl for moving that ticker back up, it's a tough one to allow. One I hope that I can do if I can't nip this in the bud soon!

Hey Robbin! Glad your finding time to be true to you throughout your whirlwind of business. I hope that you're able to find a few minutes before collapsing to fit in the exercise you want. You've got the eating down, lets celebrate in that fact alone. Coming off of a Christmas "binge" is hard enough!

Nicole, I can't tell you how successful I feel for having my meals planned ahead of time. It just helps to know what you're having before hand and eliminate the times when you start picking through the pantry/fridge/freezer trying to come up with something and 'accidentally' grazing while doing that...if that makes any sense!? LOL! For me, that's usually what happens...I get so hungry that I snack while cooking. Awful.

Liza, glad you found us again!! You can do this, you're right this is the year for YOU! You also have the right frame of mind. Don't think of this as a 'diet' to get 'skinny', it's a new lifestyle that will in turn make you and your son healthier (and bonus! thinner!) and enjoy eachothers company for a long time to come! Just keep posting and keep up the great new effort you've started since the new year!

I see novels are becoming the thing around here...hehehe! Love having this much activity in here! Keep coming and keep posting! Have a great day all, lets keep trudging along for a better us!

TTFN!
