  • LAURIE...Where is it you work again?

I haven't tried any of the new stuff at SUBWAY...everything sounds good though...Do y'all have a FIREHOUSE SUB up your way? We ate from there recently for the first time...YUMMY!!!

    BOB
  • Hey ladies. Jsut checking in. I had an ultrasound today and baby is absolutely head down and reasy to go. And I had them confirm that he has a ...youknow...
We've got family in town, and I'm finally trying to get things ready for the baby. We've got everything ready for the homebirth, jsut forgot that the little guy will need clothes and all that ...duuhh..

So, we've been a little frantic, but I'm still here and pregnant. gained 1 lb this week, so I'm up to 16lbs total.

Hugs to everyone, and as soon as I get to slow down, I'll try to do replies. Jsut wanted to keep you updated on the baby.
  • Well, I have made a decision! I am going to join Curves. I don't know how I am going to afford it but I have to do something. I have to lose some weight, not just for me look better and to be comfortable with myself, but for my health. I need to get heathy! I am the sole provider. DH has a TBI and I raise my granddaughter with no financial help...so it's just me and while I make pretty good money...it's still tight. I just have to come up with $117 down and then it's $40 a month.....I can do it, I can, I can!

Other than that..things are OK here. DH has his appointment the 3rd with the surgeon for his gallstones, I guess he'll have it done a bit after that...

COUNTRYMOM....ye it has been a crazy week!
    Off to work
  • Lady V: You're a grandmother? Maybe it's just the picture, but you don't look a day over 20!!

Talitha: It's getting close now!! I swear, this is the fastest pregnancy I've known of. At least it went by fast for me.

Bob: Thanks for asking...Shelley, I think, got some sort of allergen in her eye at band practice because on Tuesday night it was red, itchy and a little puffy, I had her put a cold compress on it and the swelling and redness went away for the most part, but it was still a little itchy, but nothing an allergy pill didn't take away. So, the next day it was fine. In my experience with pinkeye, it takes more than that to get rid of it, so I think she just got something in her eye. But thanks for asking Oh, and I hate being sick in the way I don't know which end to stick in the toilet. No fun at all!! Hope you're feeling better soon!! Oh, and Failure to Launch is on my list of things for my Matthew McConaughey collection. I have just about everything he's done either on VHS or DVD...Derek usually gets them for me for my birthday, Christmas or Valentine's Day...whatever the latest is. But, since this one seems to have come out far away from any gift giving opportunities, I see I'll just have to go buy it myself. I can hardly wait. Derek bid on a pair of shorts on eBay that were from a prop selling store that had a bunch of props for sale from this movie...and the shorts were the shorts that MMc wore in the movie, complete with food stains!! I know, gross...but I would have worn I would have worn them!! The sold for something like over $100...I didn't want them THAT bad.

Laurie: Subway is my guilty pleasure...way too much white flour for our plan, but I guess I could splurge in a more destructive way... Just once in a while. At least it's low-fat.

Monet: You're jsut about the cutest person in the whole world...I'd love to see the freckles!! And I'm so proud of you getting in there and doing that exercise...it's so good for you, nevermind weightloss...just for your 'condition' and keeping it under control.

Teensy: WTG with recruiting!! So glad your mom is doing well.

Crystle: Crazy week for us here, too!! To say the least. I'm getting really sick of our little roller coaster ride. So nice to see you again. We miss you when you're not here!!

Thin: We LOVE our ships here. Our whole family has been obsessed with watching ships...my brother used to get a book called Know Your Ships and it has all the ships in the world in it, the flags, etc and even the smoke stack markings listed. My brother used to have a running list of which ships he saw and how many times he saw it during the year. And then I got my job working for the Seaway Pilots and set up a time for my dad to ride the pilot boat out to a ship to swap Captains for Father's Day. I've never seen my dad with a more pure look of surprise and excitement on his face. It was really cool.

Well, I'm sure one of my neighbors must thing I'm either dead or insane. I went to pour the last of Junior's dogfood in his dish and out came a mouse and ran under the stove again. I screamed so loud my throat still hurts. So, apparently, when I heard a trap go off the other night, it was too smart to get caught and just took the cheese. I'm going to go get some of that bluish green pellet stuff that they eat and they die a slow painful death from it. I know, it sounds mean, but mice are just crossing the line hanging around uninvited in my kitchen. And this wasn't the cute variety...it was a long dark grey one. I had one in my house once that was round and fuzzy and looked more like a hamster. I felt a little bad ensuring his demise...but not TOO bad.

Well, Derek comes back from his orientation tonight. We're thinking now of seeing if he can get one of those processing machines really cheap and having ME start a photography/printing/portrait studio shop in town. Then it if flies well, Derek can quit his job and help me.

Shelley is so cute...I'm just looking at her making bead jewelry at the coffee table and she's so engrossed in it, she's got the look on her face she used to have when she'd play with her barbies. I get sad sometimes because I miss the little girl she used to be, but every now and then, I see traces of her, even though she's looking just like a full-fledged teenager.

Okay...I have to go make breakfast. Talk to you guys later...

    Kris
  • The morning was getting off to a good start...I got in my three mile walk and was even back a few minutes after 9...when WHAM! I got hit with the aura of a migraine. I can't take any drugs for it, so I am sitting still and hoping it is not too bad. The way my head feels right now, I don't have much hope.

TECH: A photo business would be cool! I know I would love that! If you do and it takes off, you can franchise it down here, and I will run it for you!

LADY: Curves runs specials all the time. I would wait a month and see what offers they have. When I joined, they waived the sign up fee if you brought in a bag of groceries for the local food pantry. Walking is great, and just 30 minutes of walking a day will help get you burning calories. Especially if you do it in the morning. Then you burn at a higher rate all day. You might want to check out the exercise forum on here, and see if you can get any inspiration. I have been lurking over there, and getting inspired for the running I am planning on undertaking...

You know, we have a lot of MIAs. Whatever happened to SEF? MELF? MUNCHERMOM? NICOLEE?ANN?WOODFROGS?FILLISE?KENGJW?CINDY42? PANCHO? HUGCRYSTAL? THUNDERWOMAN? I am sure there are more... if you are lurking, come out and say hello! You are missed!
  • Well, I posted this over in the support forum under Lighten Up and then remembered it's FRIDAY and time for Friday Funnies!! And I never contribute, but this is really great!!

    CUCKOO

Why females should avoid a girls night out after they are married!

The other night I was invited out for a night with "the girls." I
told my husband that I would be home by midnight, "I promise!"

Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down way too easy.

Around 3 a.m., a bit loaded, I headed for home Just as I got in the
door, the cuckoo clock in the hall started up and cuckooed 3 times. Quickly, realizing my husband would probably wake up, I cuckooed another 9 times.

I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted
solution, in order to escape a possible conflict with him. (Even when totally smashed..3 cuckoos plus 9 cuckoos totals 12 cuckoos
    (MIDNITE!)

The next morning my husband asked me what time I got in, and I told
him "Midnight". He didn't seem mad at all. Whew! Got away with that one!

Then he said, "We need a new cuckoo clock."

When I asked him why?, he said, "Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said, "Oh. sh#t!", cuckooed 4 more times, cleared it's throat, cuckooed another 3 times, giggled, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the coffee table and farted."
  • Well, in regards to starting my own photo studio, these are some of the things I'd like to be able to do in my shop:

    Print large, poster-size prints

    One-hour photo service

On-site group photos, such as when baseball teams get their pictures taken or even class pictures

    Portraits

Artsy fartsy things like taking a photo and making it unusual and Andy Warholish with weird colors...or like mosaic tiles...the usual photo shop tools, only for big prints.

Derek is a wizz with his power tools and woodworking...and loves routing and mitreing...so I'd like to offer custom framing and matting done by Derek

Going to local festivals and taking pictures of people and offering our business card with our website and say, "Hey, can I take your picture?...you can purchase the pictures from our website and we'll mail it to you at the address you provide when you order them!"

I'm totally on fire with the idea...so is Derek, but the pessimist in him keeps thinking it'll be a waste of time and money, but the optimist in me says everytime the kids get their pictures done for either school pics or things like Shelley in her ice skating pictures the day before recitals, the photographer is always from Rochester or Syracuse! Why wouldn't they hire someone local if the quality is there? Right?

Well...I'm eating black bean soup for lunch, but I think I put too much boullion...its pretty salty.

    Will be back later, gators...
  • MAN, am I dragging today! After my 3 mile walk, I just fell apart! I got a migraine, and I can't take any OTC pain killers with the meds I am on, my feet started complaining, and my digestive system is really mad at me about something. Probably a combination of the metformin and Byetta...coupled with the hamburger patty and cheese I had for dinner last night. I am going to go lay on the bed and read a novel after I finish here. I have not done that in months!

TECH: Supposedly, if you throw a potato into something that is too salty it will help leech the salt out. Just don't eat the potato! Its not SB legal!

Ok, off to nurse my poor suffering bod...

  • Good morning ladies.....

I have aready done my hour at Curves, done two loads of laundry, taken care of two flats of strawberries, mowed the back yards.......and now I am taking a breather. My son headed home this morning. He lives in Steptoe, which is just a wide spot in the road on the way to Colfax. It was so nice spending the week with him. Dh had to work all week, so that left just the two of us here. I really miss my boys now that they are out on their own. At one time Brant wanted to be chef, so we spent a lot of time in the kitchen. He did a beef roast on the outdoor rotisserie......yum, yum. Since he couldn't do much of anything else, he hung out in the kitchen with me, he was able to do some of the smaller tasks, like emptying the dishwater, and other helpful things that no one else does.....he said that it is just habit for him, since he lives by himself. I am going to miss him!! He will have to stay down there next week-end since he is on call. But said he will be back when Vicky and Ken get here. He still hasn't met them. He was on call when she was here for Ted's birthday too.

Well gals, my break time is over since the dryer is buzzing me...... see you all later.

LadyV-- You will absolutely love Curves.......or I do anyway. The women there are all there for the same reasons that we are and are all very supportive. I have made some great friends since I started in March. I have got 3 or 4 that drive out here each Monday morning and we all walk 4 miles together. Next Wednesday we are all going to get together and try some water arobics. Wednesday, five of us completed a 6.2 mile walk. I think that they going to have a special promo starting July 15. If you can wait just a bit, I will try and find out what is coming up. It might save you some on the sign up fee. I will get back to you on it.

Talitha-- Nice to see you, but......I was hoping that we were having a baby!!!

Tech-- I haven't seen hide nor hair of our little grey friend, so I am hoping that he has found new living arrangements by now. Your photo shop sound great to me. You have a lot of great ideas...go with it!!!

Monet-- Thanks for the info.....I will check out that site. I am going to be trying some water arobics this next week, and then my Winsor Pilates (with the circle band) came yesterday, so I am also going to start that 3 days a week. Maybe if I can get rid of some of that extra flab, it won't feel so funny when I bounce!!
  • WHOA!!!!! So, here I am, at my kitchen window and there are thunderstorms all around us...in fact there is a tornado warning on the other side of the county (we have a gigantic county...so nowhere near us) and, so, I'm looking out my kitchen window and i see darkish clouds off to the west and as i'm looking at them I can see how some of the clouds are going north and further to the west of those, the clouds are going south...and I told Shelley that that looks to me like a rotating cloud formation. But in Northern NY? Near ME? The weather buff...never. So, I looked at Weather Underground radar and they show storm tracks that label a yellow square for a hail producing storm and a purple triangle for a rotating storm (and therefore capable of producing a tornado). Well, right to the west of me...right where i was looking...a PURPLE TRIANGLE!! So, I go out to see if I can see anything...because above me is clear blue skies and it was headed in the other direction..and all I saw was really dark clouds and lightning. BUt, how cool was THAT!! Woohoo!! Finally, some active weather. Oh, and by the way...I have a little room under my basement stairs that if we are ever in any danger, that's where we'll go with junior and the cat if we need to seek shelter... If I thought we were in danger, we'd have high tailed it to the basement in a second flat...

  • MAN!! The THUNDER is RUMBLING and the BLACK CLOUDS are moving in off the GULF!! My DB just called and he was in Lexington and the weather is doing the same there! I won't complain...we do need the rain so bad!!

I was just watching THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA and she fixed the most wonderful looking seafood! She made scallops, shrimp and mussels into a salad..YUM, YUM, YUM!!! She also did a beef tenderloin that she roasted and then sliced into sandwiches with a coarse mustard/horseradish mayo on whole grain bread.

    BOB
  • Tom and I just spent an hour tootling around in the deep end of the pool on noodles. I did 45 minutes of jogging while we were out there, and came in to the worst hypoglycemic episode I have had yet. I had some glucose tablets and its fine now, and the shakiness is finally ending.

I have already passed my goal for calories burned this week. The scale is not cooperating this week, but I have until Monday, so I am not going to obsess over it.

Getting in the pool really helped my tired, sore feet.

BOB: I love the Barefoot Contessa. I like Paula Deen too. Giada DeLaurentis is cool too. I have not watched much food network lately...I need to tune in again, soon.

TECH: We had a tornado go through our neighborhood a few years back. It did a LOT of damage. We lost 14 trees in our yard. That was nothing to what some of my neighbors had to deal with. I imagine it is cool to see it...but it is scary at the same time. I am glad it did not touch down near you.

Ok, I feel pretty rough right now, so I think I will sign off and try and get some rest.
  • Good morning!

I crashed after I posted last night and slept fitfully. I woke up every two hours and I just don't know why I do that! Its so annoying! I got up early and did some reading online about my diabetes meds, while I waited on Tom to wake up and fix espresso. I think he was hoping I would fix it, but I won!

Breakfast was a cup of plain low fat yogurt with blueberries, strawberries, a half of a green tipped banana, a handful of walnuts and a handful of oat squares all mixed up. I could not finish it, so Tom finished it for me. It WAS good though.

I need to run some errands and go over to the church to show it to some folks interested in having a party there. I am going to have to light a fire under them...they are slow, and laid back and I have things to do! We are supposed to head up north to have dinner with Ruth and Erik this evening.

I am going to go put on my swim suit and hop in the pool for some water jogging. Last night, Tom got in and jogged with me. He kept commenting on how good a workout it was feeling like! I was about to smack him! I guess all this time he was thinking it was really wimpy and not all that good a workout. Men!

I am trying not to obsess over the scale, but I was beginning to feel discouraged. This morning, finally, after two hours of exercise yesterday, it seems to be down a bit. Whew!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

  • Hi everyone. My computer was down for 2 days because one of the workers here cut the line. I'll check in later but just wanted to say hi.
  • We just got in from Ruth and Erik's. Dinner was superb, as usual. He made a stuffed pork tenderloin, with spinach, fontina cheese, and homegrown roasted onions with mushrooms. Appetizers were a carbonata (I think that is what he called it...with eggplant out of his garden and homemade ww bread toasted) and a shrimp cocktail. I really struggled to not over eat! Ruth and I went for a 30 minute walk after dinner, which was nice. The air was cool and their neighborhood was great for walking in.

I am very tired, so I am going to go crawl in bed. Night!
