I took James to work, then ran by Harry's/Whole Foods. I guess I will fix a roast for dinner tonight. Its really easy in the pressure cooker and everyone likes it. I got some yellow crookneck squash too so I think I will sautee it with onions to go with the roast. BOB would make her famous casserole...but where IS BOB? She has not posted this week..

I was disappointed that my glucose levels were not lower when I checked them. They are not bad, I just like to see them fall when I get exercise. Oh well!

I got a package of firm tofu to fix for lunch. Now, I know you all are shocked, since you know how I feel about soy. I do LIKE it though. It is no different than a normal person eating a piece of chocolate cake now and then...or at least that is my perspective on it. I am going to make tofu stir fried with spinach. Its seasoned with garlic and one of those classic dishes you could eat every night.

I hope everyone is doing ok. It has been terribly quiet this week. I hope it is not an ongoing trend....

Good Morning....

It rained all day yesterday......there wasn't a moment that it quit until late last night. Last measurement for rainfall so far in June was up to 3.06 inches. We are only half way through June!!

Today is our 15th wedding anniversary. No special plans, just dinner at the casino. Ted got me some beautiful flowers. Haven't decided which casino to go to yet......one has a chef's choice buffet (themed Asian, Western, Italian, etc... their choice)......the other one has their rib buffet, (baby back ribs, beef ribs, buffalo ribs, prime rib....) Either is fine with me......I usually just have lots of salad and some meat.

Gator-- Sounds like you will have a new home when you are all done. It will be worth all the mess and inconvenience when all is said and done. We have got to get busy and get some work done in our main bathroom now.

Monet-- Did you get my questions on the rice?? Which ones are legal besides the brown rice? Basmati? Wild?

Tech-- Enjoy those sleeping in mornings.......

Solly -- Hope that you will be feeling much better soon.

Thin-- Have a great sale, and you can sell all of my extra pounds too!!

Heart-- Sorry we were posting at the same time........Hang in there, we all have our bad days. Hope that you are feeling better now, and that the kids don't pick up your bug.......

TEENSY: Supposedly, basmati rice is ok, even the white basmati. From testing my glucose levels I would say no. Rice - even brown basmati - makes my glucose levels shoot up even more than wheat products. I would be careful to eat only a 1/2 cup portion and don't eat rice very often. I have heard wild rice is not a true rice, just a rice like grain. I believe it is ok. I do know that Jasmine rice is one of the higher GI rices... Does this help? If it is not the info you need, let me know and I will try and find more.

Good morning ladies, well it is almost lunch time.

I picked up my new car last night. Another SUV, Lexus 350. Black. We are leasing it. I have never leased before, it's a little scarry. I really love it.

We have not been to the gym at all this week. Dealing with the car and all. Next week I have nail, pedicures, etc for vacation, so don't know how often we will get there. We always go to the gyms at the resorts. Got to counteract all that food and drinks.

Teensy, happy anniversary. Hope you win bunches at the casino.

Heart, team up with your co-worker and maybe that will help you stay on track. Be each others watch dog.

Monet, Tofu? yuck!! No way I can eat that stuff. Enjoy

Tech, congrats to your DD on her grades. It is so awesome that she is doing so great. Enjoy sleeping in.

Time for lunch and I am starving.

Well girls, I have had a productive day! The kids, dog and I went for about a 1 mile walk this morning first thing. It was nice, in the 60's and sunny. It was warming up by the time we got back home though! Then I started on this kitchen job and it took most of the day. I cleaned out cabinets, wiped down shelves, and got rid of stuff! It looks nice now, but I still have to clean the doors, behind the fridge, etc. I think that will wait for another day!

We go in tomorrow for our shots and one more follow up for Sean. He has one more stitch that needs to be removed. I also am going to ask if he has any restrictions now at all. We are going to Tybee Island for the week of the fourth and we are getting wet! Maybe the "saline spray" will be good for him! Have a great evening!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!

Sorry I've been MIA, but the new job and getting ready for this cut and snip thing has kept me busy. My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday @ 7:45 a.m. They were going to do a local, but she has decided to completely knock me out...fine with me! I'll be off Tuesday and Wednesday and then the old cooch should be back in working order! Prayers please...anytime someone has to be put out, there's always the danger.

Lab work tomorrow after work and then a pre-op visit to the Doc on Monday after work...

I'm off to do some productive things...I'll check in later!!!

Couldn't pass sharing this with y'all!!!

-Stop bleeding while shaving. Dab on some ChapStick if you nick yourself.

- Prevent car battery corrosion. Smear ChapStick on clean car battery terminals.

- Lubricate a zipper. Rub ChapStick along the teeth of the zipper to make it zip smoothly.

- Moisturize skin. Rubbing ChapStick on your face protects the skin from windburn while snow skiing.

- Remove a ring stuck on a finger. Coat finger with ChapStick and slide the ring off.

- Lubricate nails and screws. Nails and screws rubbed with ChapStick will go into wood more easily.

- Groom a mustache or eyebrows. A little ChapStick will keep the ends of a mustache waxed together and keep bushy eyebrow hairs in place.

- Shine leather shoes. In a pinch, rub ChapStick over the leather and buff with a dry, clean cloth.

- Lubricate furniture drawers and windows. Rub ChapStick on the casters of drawers and windows so they slide open and shut easily.

- Prevent hair coloring from dying your skin. Rub ChapStick along your hairline before coloring your hair.

Someone a while back asked for a good HUMMUS recipe..I finally found DEBBIE'S and here you go!

DEBBIE'S HUMMUS

1 15 oz can chick peas (she prefers HANOVER..and she's right)
1 small clove of garlic
Juice of 1 small lemon or 1/2 of a large
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup tahini

Drain the chick peas but RESERVE about 1/3 cup of the liquid from the can. Put the chick peas, garlic, salt, lemon juice and tahini in the food processor and turn it on. After about 1 minute, add 1 tbs of the reserved liquid and whizit again for about 30 seconds. Check to see if it's the desired thickness for you-this is a personal preference. Most likely, you'll need another tablespoon or so.

Serve with fresh pita bread.. BOB adds more garlic because I love it so! I also put it on grilled chicken wraps!!!

I was really naughty tonight. I drank two margaritas! I had to postpone taking my meds too, since you are not supposed to drink when taking them. I had quite a buzz going, since I am such a cheap drunk. I got in the pool and worked off some of the sugar, but it was not good, and thankfully, not that bad either. I don't intend to do that again for a while. I do miss my glass of port now and then...

I had a lazy afternoon after my walking this morning, and then shopping. I had over 11k steps by 10:30 this morning! I took my pedometer off when I was changing my pants and forgot to put it back on. It was probably quite impressive...oh well!

The bottoms of my feet are sore from my walk today. I wore my Vibram Five Fingers, which I just LOVE, but they are like being barefooted, and sometimes my feet get sore if I walk a long distance in them. They will be mostly recovered by tomorrow. If not, I will get my exercise in the pool.

It is about time to crawl in bed. James is going to New York tomorrow for the day to meet a friend who is there on business and had frequent flyer miles he was willing to use to have some company! James loves New York, so he ought to have a blast. All he has to take is his camera...but he has to be at the train station by 5:30 to get to the airport on time. I was hoping to talk Tom into taking him...I may yet!

Sweet dreams!

Good morning ladies, thought I would pop on here early.
Still running around trying to get things for vacation. How is it I need so many things and my DH needs nothing??? His loss.

No big plans for the weekend. Tomorrow I will run errands in the morning and we are going to a friends to swim while all our husbands are playing golf. We have already had Father's Day since my oldest will be out of town. She had us over last Sunday for dinner. But we will probably go out to eat.

Thin, they say salt water is a good healer. But I would check with the dr. Gosh, can you come clean my kitchen now? It could use it.

Bob, Either I have missed something or have chemo brain, what procedure are you having done. Job this old memory. Sending prayers your way.

Monet, I had 2 margaritas last night too, and they were yummy. Not to count the 3 glasses of wine I had at home sitting in the driveway. At least I slept good.

Gator, your whole house will be remodeled soon. How is the work progressing?

Heart, who keeps your kids while you are working? I hate slow days, I like to be busy.

Happy Father's Day to all your husbands. Treat them like kings for the day. What would be different from any other day???? Have a great weekend.

Okay...just a quick fly-by. Since Shelley's home now, she keeps giving me dirty looks when I'm sitting at the computer like, Gawd...you spend so much time there... So, I have things I need to do anyway...mow the lawn...I have to finish my last collage page for my mom...I want to go to lunch with my best friend before she leaves to go back to Rochester. So, anyhow...

Speaking of Rochester, I'll be going there this weekend. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm NOT looking forward to my husband being there. He is absolutely put out that he has to go there. He is no big fan of my family....mostly because he has seen me one too many times on the front porch crying my eyes out because they all ignore me all the time. My sister, in particular, will always take out the whole family on the bigger weekends, like 4th of July, and my brother will be up...my sister is the supreme ruler of our family (overruling my parents, even) and she'll take out my parents, my brother and his wife and kids. They are only 7 miles up the road from me, but she takes the whole clan out for dinner, but never, ever thinks to invite me and my family...so here I sit, bawling my eyes out, while my whole family is out to dinner without me and my husband and kids. One time Shelley was over at my parents because she loves my nephew Alex..they're about the same age...and my sister decided to take the family to a Star Wars II and, apparently, she didn't want to take Shelley, so she drove her home on the way to the movies, leaving Shelley crying on the front porch wondering why she couldn't go to the movies. I don't know what I ever did to my sister...maybe I stole her eyeshadow one too many times when I was 11 and she's never gotten over it, but she definitely has it in for me and my family. So...my parent's 50th anniversary party is this weekend at her house and we sort of have to go and Derek has been an absolute royal pain about it since about January. So, this weekend is the weekend and now I can finally put it all behind me. I tried in vain to get the party to be at a neutral place, like rent a reception hall, but my sister insisted on having at her place...which is why she wants to have the party there because she just bought a big gigantic house and wants to show it off to everyone. So, the party starts at 7pm tomorrow night and I wanted to get a room at the Holiday Inn, but Derek is insisting that he wants to drive home (3-hour drive!) afterwards, so he says we have to leave at 9 at the latest. He says he wants to be sure and wake up in his own house on Father's Day morning. But I think it's more like he wants to be sure and let my family know how inconvenienced he is having to drive six hours total for a 2-hour party. So...I could go on and on about more things that are driving me nuts about the whole thing...but I understand my husband and when it's all said and done, I'm glad I have a husband that just is mad because of how he sees me being treated and is, in a weird way, sticking up for me. So, I'll let him do what he wants and follow along behind him.

Okay...have to get out my glue sticks and finish my poster...

Just have to add that the reason I'm looking forward to it is that I get to see people that I haven't seen since I was REALLY young...like people that I used to baby sit for. THAT I'm lookign forward to. I wish I could just leave my husband home, but imagine your husbands not going to your parents' 50th wedding anniversary...or your own sons-in-law not coming to YOUR 50th. So, he sorta HAS to go.

Hey, guys. Just a check-in. Solly- I pay a babysitter for the summer and during school days, they get off the bus at my Mom's. But the summer months are killing my pocketbook. Today I feel grody. I'm just so tired. This isn't like me and I've been feeling this way for a couple months. I've bought a high dose vitamin B and it hasn't helped. My boss told me that she just read an article about Splenda causing tiredness in women..that may be something to look into. I like my Splenda! I woke up with a stomachache so it's after 9 and I still haven't had bf. I just don't want food right now, it may sour on my stomach. I'll probably feel better as the day goes by. BOB- what surgery are ya talking about? Sounds serious. Well, I need to go.

HEART: You might want to get your blood sugar levels checked. You may be insulin resistant, and high sugar levels can cause tiredness. I was exhausted and thought it was my thyroid, but it was the sugar. Once I got my blood glucose levels down, I felt so energetic! Amazing.

TECH: What a pill your sister sounds like! I can't believe she did that to Shelley. Can you ask your parents why they all go out and never invite you? Press them...ask them point blank. It doesn't matter WHAT you did when you were kids. Your sister's behavior is not right and your parents should not be party to it. Mine never did that kind of stuff. My mother never took sides. I knew who her favorites were, but she would never have put up with what your sister is doing. Does it help that WE love you?

My glucose levels are really suffering from the two margaritas last night. I needed to go for a walk this morning, but could not swing it. I got up at 4 to take James to the train station to go to the airport. He is in New York City for the day. I came home and crawled back into bed at about 5:15, and slept like the dead until 9:45 when Laura woke me to ask me for help tying Justin's new tie. I could not remember more than a half Windsor, but it looked better than what she was doing. We have some errands to run...so I better go!
