  • Hi everyone,

Have been lazy this weekend now its time to get the lead out. Have to go change the sign at church and make sure the fellowship hall gets mopped. We have a rummage sale starting friday and ending saturday. Plus the youth are going to have a bake sale to.

Gator-you and your sister and brother-in-law are in our prayers.

Talitha-Those last few weeks of being preg are a stinker. But you hang in there it will all be over before you know it.

Monet-I will have to wait for hubby to get working so we can get us a pool. It sure would be nice I love swimming.

Solly-I know what you mean about the eating. Mine was off this weekend also. The kids had a cup of tootsie rolls minis and I got into them...yikes!!!! They are all gone thank goodness the kids found me eating them and took them away from me.....lol

    Tech-Happy Anniversery!!!

Bob-Wheres Bob??? Have a great day!

    Ann-WELCOME!!!!!!!

    Everyone have a wonderful day!!!!!!!!
  • thank you everyone for the "welcome" !

I thought this was a good article and another reassuring statement that our way of eating/life is healthy. I didn't doubt the book, don't get me wrong, but it's nice to have even more studies back it up.

  • Okay...I just took a little bity break from gardening for lunch and to take a walk to the river with Kyle and the dog. I kept hearing fog horns up the river, so I checked the seaway site and sure enough...it was coming our way. So, I took Kyle and the dog to check it out as it passed and with the fog it was sooo cool. All you could see was the bridge and the beams of the ship and then it blowing its horn. I saw on the site that its from Panama (I couldn't see the name or the flag in the fog), so we looked it up on Kyle's globe and he was impressed by how far it came from to travel passed our little town. I love showing him things like that...he's so perceptive and takes it all in. I love my little boy.

Peach protien smoothie for lunch, by the way. Frozen peaches, 1% milk and some whey protien powder (and a splash of vanilla ) Might have a few slices of deli ham, too.

Okay..back to the garden!! I love this weather!!
  • Hi all,

    Welcome Ann!

Bob, Sorry about your back! One time I bent over slightly to pick up a lawn chair (very light) and threw my back out. And I don't usually have any back problems.

Went to a wedding on Saturday that was very sweet. Afterwards the couple went to their reception in a beautifully restored Packard and we blew bubbles at them. I gave them the software Quicken to help them manage their finances because it has helped me so much.

Worked (at J.C. Penney's Tech!) for a short shift on Monday. Usually I would have Monday off but they were short and I might need a day off in July so I hope my manager will remember how I helped out.

Running around today getting ready for my trip. We are leaving for Maui this Thursday. We have to be at the airport at 5:00 am

    We'll be back June 10th.

Sef, just a thought... None of us know exactly why we were put here. It could be that you are having more influence on people around you than you even know. So do what you can to take care of yourself so that you will be around to continue with God's plan for you.
Sometimes I get a little depressed that after 6 years of college I have only managed to find a job at J.C. Penney but I try to tell myself to be in a good mood when I go into work because maybe I can be a blessing to someone else as a helper or a listener.

Will talk to you all after we get back.
    Take care.
    KayeC
  • AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!

Family is still here so this will be short. Just want to check in so y'all will know that a SHARK didn't get me!

I'm glad to hear that everyone had a good weekend. My back is still really sore, but I think better. I know I need to turn my mattress for one thing, but am afraid to do that right now. Maybe I'll get my Brother to do that for me!

I bought some CROCS this weekend (anyone seen these?) http://shop.crocs.com/pc-15-4-beach....on=products..I got the LIME GREEN ones..I have a lot of that color in my dresses for summer..VERY COMFORTABLE!!! Almost as much as my BIRKS....I also bought three new dresses on the mark down rack...$11 each (had been over $40)..very light weight cotton knit. I wore one today and you talk about comfy!!! As for the shoes, I plan to get many colors ...several different styles to choose from...

I'm off for now...I'll try to check in later!

    BOB
  • Ahhh! The air conditioning guy finally got here. We needed a freeon charge. Since he is a friend, he did it for free. The house feels better already...and has dropped two degrees to 87 since he left 15 minutes ago. I hate to cook dinner...it will only interfere with the ac...maybe I can talk Tom into going someplace cheap for dinner...

I was really miserable with the heat. I still feel a bit crabby. I just snacked on too many nuts, and too much instant splenda sweetened ice tea.

I guess I will go try and relax a bit. I will be back later!
  • Good morning! I have already been to the store and spent about 30 minutes doing some cleaning in the kitchen. I am embarrassed to admit that I did not clean out the chocolate fountain after the shower on Saturday...and I just had to do it now. I hate doing it. I left it for weeks after the last time I used it! Its not THAT hard to clean either. Well, I keep telling myself that. Maybe eventually, I will believe it!

Its a cool 74 in my house today. Quite an improvement over the 90 degrees yesterday! What a blessing a working AC is.

I have a friend and her Downs syndrome daughter coming over this morning. The daughter wants to swim, so we will have some coffee and watch her swim. I have to get in the water sometime today and patch a hole in the vinyl liner. Thankfully, it is right at the water level. I would NOT like having to go under water to patch a hole! The hole is very strange. Its kind of star shaped. We can't figure out what made it.

BOB: Those Crocs are really fun...I love all the colors and they are so reasonable! Are they made of plastic? If so, how do they feel when its hot? Do your feet get sweaty in them? I think I would love a pair in a wild color...and I would go out and find an outfit to match the shoes! I am not much of a lime green person, but fuschia is a big possibility!

I don't mean to be anti-social, so I will come back later for more replies. I am just yawning so badly I can barely read. I think I need a short catnap...then I will try and get back on...if my friend has not gotten here yet!

  • Good Morning everyone! Monet, your pool sounds so inviting. It's already in the upper 80's here and so humid. I had to drive my son out to work today. A local man called to ask if he'd work for him. The man, Jay, does botany and woodwork. This morning they're building a deck and this afternoon they will be splicing plants. On the way, I saw a home for sale that is in a beautiful location. I'm going to check it out this afternoon. We're wanting a new home but my gosh, they are so darned expensive just for something basic! I have done so much landscaping here though, I hate to leave it. I wish I could have a new house but take all my gardens and terraces with me!

I didn't eat so well yesterday. I think tom got the best of me. I know, excuses but I was in one of those "give me chocolate or get away" moods and I gave in. Today will be better. I have the house to myself and I can put on some music and relax...other than laundry, dishes, vacuuming....
  • Good morning everyone,

I didn't sleep very good last nite. I might just laze around on the couch today. I'm just watching the garden grow, everything is growing like crazy since the rain. My tomatoes are loaded, the burpless cucumbers are going up the fence and blooming like crazy, hubbys habinero-cayenne pepper plant is loaded with peppers (I'm not touching those whatsoever)lol. My eggplants are blooming and so pretty for a vege plant. I have a flower pot I planted a package of patio tomatoe seeds, I thought maybe on a few would come up and would you believe they all came up all 80...lol. Now I have to do something with them.

Monet--I don't know if you have a PayLess Shoe store there but here in Louisiana we do and they have the crocs in tye-dye colors...I'm dying to get me a pair. When hubby goes back to work I am going to.

Ann--Listening to music and doing housework is the only way to do housework. Makes it so much easier. There is a legal choc but I don't know what available in your area. Monet can tell you whats the best legal choc.

To everyone else Hi and have a wonderful day!!!!!!
  • I can indeed tell you all about legal CHOCOLATE! Any that lists cocoa solids as 70% is legal. I can find a number of brands at the farmer's market here, and even my grocery store carries one. The brands I find are Lindt (and it says 70% right across the front, VERY clearly...they also have an 85%..not as good, but even more legal...if there is such a thing! haha!) Valrhona is wonderful, but pricey. I have even found Ghiradelli 70%. Scharfenberger is one of the best, if you can find it, splurge! I think the book says 60%, but I rarely see 60%...just 70%. I have found 60% chocolate chips, and intend to use them in something some day. So, enjoy some legal CHOCOLATE, its good for the psyche! Don't over do it though. Keep it as a treat...maybe once or twice a week have one square of a bar...not the whole bar!
  • Hi Ladies!

Have a quick minute so thought I would catch up.

We made it to the gym last night, about 45 minutes. This morning I did the :terad: and we will go to the gym tonight too.

Monet, I thought of you and Tom this morning. I have a hugh open blister on my foot so I cannot wear my tennis shoes (don't ask me how I got it, I have been wearing those shoes for over a year). So I thought about doing the Tm barefoot. I know you both do it and I read where it is good to do it a few times. After 7 minutes my feet were burning, I put on my socks for the last 3 mintues. Then I got my DD backless tennis shoes to finish the rest of the time. Now I have a burn or blister on both heals. How do you all do it??

TEch, Whew, your posts wear me out! I bet you are a big phone talker. Keeping my fingers crossed that the job at Penney's works out. Hope you get your car too. I had a Nissan mini van and loved it. Best car I ever had. We are in the market too, but I only like SUV's. The one I want to too expensive. But I am working on it.

thunder, It'g reat you have kids to police your eating. You have been doing so great, don't let those tootsie rolls mess you up. Send me some of those peppers. I love it hot.

KayeC, have a wonderful trip. Enjoy yourself.

Bob, Glad you are enjoying your family. Becareful with comfortable clothes. Theya re like sweats, you are so comfortable, you just keep eating.

Monet, glad the A/c is fixed. We usually have that problem every year. (knock on wood). Have your tried the instant Raspberry tea? It is wonderful.

Ann, just think of all the fun you will have re-doing your landscaping at a new house. Don't let that chocolate through you off track. Jump right back on.

    Have a great day.
  • Well I have had a busy day, BUT at least I was not at work! I had to take Sean for his pre-op visit and then to pre-register at the hospital. The dr. gave us the solution to irrigate him with and the prescriptions for pain med and antibiotic, so we went ahead and filled them. We went to lunch and to look for a video game he's been looking for. Could not find it at three different stores, we'll continue to look tomorrow. Then over to the hospital where we filled out tons of paperwork and had blood drawn. I was reading all the info before I signed it and they'll scare you to death with some of that stuff. Sean says "Mom, don't read it, just sign it!" I love him! He's too funny! I think all we have left to do is get the distilled water to mix the irrigation solution with and we'll be ready. We have to be there at 7:20am and surgery starts at 9:20am on Monday. He should be in the OR for 3-3.5 hrs. You can send us prayers, special thoughts, or good vibes if you don't mind. Whatever works best for you! I'm sure it will all be fine, but there is something about sending your child into surgery that is scary every time! Thanks!
  • I hade a crappy night last night. I woke up 3 times with leg cramps. I hate it. I swear tht is the WORST pregnancy symptom ever. and 3 tiems in one night!! I've limped around all day and tried massaging them. AND JAke woke up twice screaming. Once at 1am for about 20 minutes and again at 4am for almost an hour!! I was so tired this morning.

I did water aerobics this morning like a good girl. I REALLY didn't feel like it, but it's so great once I'm in the water. I'm really hoping that I can keep it up for at least 2 more weeks.

HAd lunch with my mom and sisters at chilli's I had the quesadilla explosion salad with steak instead of chicken. It's sooooo good, and Selah eats the quesadillas, which saves me $4 on a kids meal I'm sure the tortiall strips and all the dressing aren't legal, but I only have one every tfew months. After lunch we all went to mom's to lay out. IT was sooo relaxing and now I've got a bit more tan

THIN- I'm sure it's stressful, but it will all be over soon. We'll be praying for you on Monday And I hope you find his game

Monet- My parent's ppol doesn't ahve a liner. Is it that easy to patch? Theirs is cement and kinda funky shaped. I don't think they could get aliner

Solly- Raspberry tea? Waht brand? Sounds yummy

Thunder- Hope you got to relax today a bit. SOunds like we were both up all night.

Ann- I got brave and planted a tomato pmlant and it's jsut pathetic. I'll never grow anything. I swear I couldn't keep dandilions alive!!
  • Talitha, those leg cramps are THE worst! Are you getting enough potassium? I know bananas are no-nos but they might help, also make sure you're drinking enough. Those are the two things my ob told me when I was having them.

Thin, I'm sending good vibes and prayers for your whole family. It's so heartbreaking to send your little one into surgery. Mine had 3 minor ones (tubes/adenodes, more tubes, tonsils). His first time in he was so young that the dr. carried him in his arms to recovery, I saw that and started bawling!, he just looked so little and innocent.

Solly, I could never do that without my full foot armor on LOL! I have the thickest socks I can find and my tennis shoes with cushiony inserts! I'm such a wimp.

Monet, thank you for the chocolate information. I don't crave it but once in a blue moon but when I want it, I WANT IT NOW!

Thunder, I love cucumbers and tomatoes. I used to grow massive amounts of tomatoes but this last year we decided we just couldn't deal with that many again. I think we supplied our end of town with them for a few years! They grow like weeds once you get them going!

BOB, I see those crocs everywhere! I couldn't believe all the females wearing them at graduation! They must feel great. I'd want really bright tye dyed ones.

Today was not what I had planned. I was going to do housework and relax with music but my toy pomeranian went into seizures and I had to take him to the vet. He's got epilepsy! I've been babying him all afternoon since bringing him home. I felt so helpless when he was seizuring, I hate that feeling. Then I had to switch pharmacies cuz the one we used kept losing our prescriptions! That was a hassle. oh well, could be worse..
  • Ann- My youngest one, Rachel had tubes put in and her adenoids removed 10 yrs. ago when she was two. It's so hard when they are so small and they don't understand. Sean is now 14, but it may be even harder when they are older. He understands everything and even the "what ifs" I told him it's Ok for him to be nervous or anxious, but if he starts crying, I will too. and that will be a sight! Two big blubbering messes!
