As long as you don't see sugar listed in the ingredients, and I've never seen a plain cottage cheese that has it, the sugars you see are natural occuring in the way of lactose.
Since you are in Florida, that means you have Publix and you can look for the FRIENDSHIP COTTAGE CHEESE, I love the whipped in the pink container and best of all, no preservatives as many other cottage cheeses seem to have.
