  • Mmm!!
Good morning! It is Metal Monster Monday! I stayed the same.

I slept poorly last night, Tom tells me I snored like a freight train, so it is probably time to get a sleep study done. Some people find losing weight easier with a c-pap machine. I am not crazy about the idea, but hey, if it works!

Not much else on the agenda today. Lunch with my neighbor who is probably going to start teaching for a teacher who resigned but has today off, and some work in the garagio.

Lets make this a great week!

  • Hi, I did well over the weekend. I had a few moments where I was starving but I made good choices and I'm down a total of 2 pounds now. I have lots to do around the house today in addition to our homeschooling. I also need to go to the store and pick up some brown rice and more cottage cheese. DH wants me to make a kind of stew (he calls it) and we serve it over rice so I need to get some I can eat!

I hope everyone is doing well! Have a great week!
  • Hi Ladies,

This day has flown and I am swamped. It was a good weekend. Especially since the CATS won over LSU. I couldn't believe it. I even got a nice email from Missy congratulating me on the win. She is such a sweety. Eating was not good and what was worse I put on my jean capris (after the dryer) and could not get them on. Boy am I depressed. I have got to get serious and do something more than the gym. I am totally obsessed with food and I have to find a way to work that out. I want to eat all the time and I am not even hungry. Head problems.
I have bunco Wed and we are supposed to go the lake this weekend, which will be eating and drinking. I may stay home.

Mommy, congrats on your 2 lb loss. Sounds lik eyou are right on track.

BOB. can you believe it? I was so excited. No we face the Gators. I can't beleive you will cheer for the Cats over the Vols. It should be a good game. I am trying to find tickets for my SIL, He is a big Vols fan. You would love their basement. Covered in TN stuff.

Tech, sounds like you are doing great. Hey, if orange haired lady is happy, let it be. Hopefully she will come back and others too.

Toni, sounds like a nice surprise for your DH. 60th should be a special day.

Monet, Grandma knows best. I bet the little fellow was not feeling good and needed some rest. Hope you get some work done.

Hope I haven't missed anyone, I have to run. Have a great day.
  • Afternoon all. Its raining here and I can't seem to get warm this so I'm sitting in my chair with a blanket on my lap. Mailed packages today. My son will get his Iraq snack box, LOL in a week or so. I also sent a box to a young kid he's taken under his wing. Plus the Grandkids will get there Halloween boxes. Glad thats all done. It sure took a toll on my checkbook. Also had coffee with a friend. I got the cookbook by Jessica Seinfield on putting vegetable purees in your food. Its really made so children will get their veggies. It seems to take allot of work cause you have to steam your vegetables and make puree's out of them. But it gave me some good ideas.

Solly- I had trouble with snacking this week end. Seemed I had my hand in the cupboard all the time. I also had wine so I'll have to really get back on track.

Mommy22S-Congrads on another weight loss. You're doing great. Keep up the good work.

Monet- Hope you have a good day and maybe get a chance for a little nap.

Tech- Have a great week 3.

Bob- Boo hoo my pork roast didn't turn out that great. It will taste better when I make burritos out of it.

Better go and take a chair nap. LOL
  • Howdy
Good afternoon. Welcome to all the newbies. These guys are the best and I hope you like it here as much as I do.

Life has been crazy with a capital C. But eating has been okay. I weighed about the same this week. I"m right at 182. I think once I get back in the 170's I'll have the motivation I need. I could still smack myself for allowing the weight to creep back on in the first place. But to go there is taking a step backwards so I'm just gonna look forward.

Tech...woo hoo on your business. You are doing great. Anybody can get a bad color or do but it is what the beautician does to fix it that counts. If your customer is happy she will tell everyone what a good job you did trying to fix it.

    Love and hugs,
    Crystle
  • Well, I was in the store today and saw the orange hair lady and, maybe it was all the trauma of trying desperately to lift the orange out with bleach and panicking, but you know, it actually looks really nice. She said she likes it and said she's had compliments from people that say they like it better than before. So...I still told her that I have a toner that will give it more depth (because the ends look REALLY washed out from years of bleaching) and fullness and she said she'll be in on Thursday to see what I've got, but thinks she might just keep it as is. I still think the roots are a bit brassy, but I always have to remind myself that brassy hair always needs a day or two to oxidize and it calms down. But she really seems to like it, which makes me happy. I just hope she comes in on Thursday...I have a really great neutral toner that will make it perfect.
  • Hi Crystle!!
  • well, I ate wayyy to much for dinner but on the plus side, everything I ate was good and allowed but I know I shouldn't have eaten so much it was just SOOOO GOOD!!
  • Dinner was great. I had baked tilipia fish with fresh asparagus and a salad. I need to try to coat some fish in my pancho bread crumbs and cook it that way.

Mommy22S- Maybe you didn't eat to much....

Crystle-Hey girlfriend hows it going? Oh it would be a dream to get to 182.

Tech- good luck ith the red head. LOL
  • Good morning ladies

Thought I would get this in early before it gets too crazy. It is raining here and so dark. Guess we are getting Toni's weather. Made it to the gym last night and will go again tonight. This may be it for the week though. We will walk Saturday morning while at the lake.

Toni, it is raininghere too, but we need it so I am not complaining. I am getting tired of watering my flowers so I will let Mother Nature do it today. It is not as cool as I thought it would be though. You will get to 182 before you know it the way you are going. I know yours son and his friend will greatly appreciate your goody box. Just keep counting down those days until he is home.

Tech, See things always wor out. Hope the orange head lady tells everyone who fixed her hair and they all come your way.

Crystal, We are at the same weight. Now maybe we can both work together to see those 170's. I am trying, if I can only stay on the straight and narrow.

Mommy, I'm with Toni, maybe you didn't eat too much. Sometimes our bodies need that nourishment as we tend to under eat most of the time while dieting.

Monet, are you sleeping in this morning?

Well off to vote for Dancing with the Stars. It just gets better and better.

    Have a great day!
  • Hello all!

I have followed SB on and off for about 9 years. I always lose the weight and then jump ship and gain it back. I recently decided that I had to get back to this WOE. Within a week of making the change I found out that my father has diabetes. He will be 63 this year and overweight (belly weight). Up until he was diagnosed I didn't realize we had a family history for diabetes. Needless to say this has made me more determined to stick to the SB way of life.

My fathers doctor recommended South Beach products. I don't know too much about them. But I feel like SB should work well also. My problem is trying to make a good for him Holiday meal. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!
  • Hello! Sorry I have been off. I got up this morning, wandered down for some breakfast, and then went down to check on some pieces in the garagio, and ended up staying down there for a long time. I got some stuff done though!

I need to head out to the grocery store to get some sandwich meats for Tom's lunch in just a bit.

MAABLES: So glad to have you join us! Sounds like you know the program well, so I hope you will jump right in and join us. I found out a little over a year ago that I am diabetic, and there is NO family history for it at all. I don't know anyone else in my family who has it. Needless to say, I was a bit surprised, but shouldn't have been. I have had insulin resistance problems for a long time. Holidays are not that hard for eating right. Anything that is ok for Sugarbusters is ok for a diabetic. You can use whole grain bread for stuffing, sweet potatoes, green beans, ham or turkey... the possibilities are pretty encouraging! I even make my own cranberry sauce. I just use fresh cranberries, an orange, and some splenda and cinnamon and pulse it in the food processor. I think you will find some recipes in the recipe area on here, but I hope others will join in and offer more suggestions. I even make Sugarbusters legal pumpkin and pecan pies. I either make my own whole wheat flour crust, or buy them frozen at Whole Foods. What are some of your dad's favorites that you particularly hope to adapt for him?
  • Thanks for the welcome Monet!

I did try and make a crustless pumpkin pie this weekend...it was ok. Seemed to have a bit of an aftertaste from the Splenda. I am not so good at making pie crusts. I will have a look at a health food store and see if they carry them.

I would mainly like to convert the desserts. I think I could make a pretty good chocolate "dreamwhip" pie. I thought I might just whip up some homemade whipped cream and add sf chocolate pudding to it. I think his favorite pie is cherry o' cheese pie (cream cheese, condensed sweetened milk, lemon juice, and cherry pie filling in a graham cracker crust). A pecan crust would probably work as a replacement...I'm just not sure about the canned milk.

I would like to try your cranberry sauce..it sounds wonderful. There is only one place that I have found Agave Nectar in our town and I love it...but it is from the wild agave. Would that be totally unusable for him?

More than anything my father said he missed having his biscuits and gravy on the weekends. I found a recipe for spelt biscuits but haven't tried them yet. Can you make tasty gravy with soy flour? The doctor says he can have new red potatoes but didn't say anything about sweet potatoes. I told him to ask the doc next time. I have a wonderful sweet potato recipe but it contains a lot of brown sugar. I'm not sure how the Brown Sugar Twin replacement would taste.

As far as my weight loss goes...I don't have much to lose. Although I think I am larger now than at any other time in my life. I could stand to take off 20-25 lbs. I don't own a scale I threw it out years ago. Last time I went to the doctor I was 148 to 152 depending on which scale I was on. Anyway..I would be ecstatic at about 125-130.

    Sorry to ramble.

    Thanks!!

Howdy all. We've got a beautiful day but rain is on its way this evening. But today is great with beautiful blue skies and white puffy clouds. I made me such a good omelet for lunch. I sauteed fresh asparagus, red bell pepper, purple onion along with fresh mushrooms for it. Along with some cheese it made a wonderful filling meal. Yummy. Just about time for DH to go to work so better hurry here.

maables-WELCOME to our group. Its so good to have you. There's so much you can make your Dad could eat. And would be good for you. I decided I needed to quit fighting with my eating and make this a life style along with getting the healthiest food in me possible. Its slow for me but rewarding.

Monet- I'll bet it feels so good to have a good day in the garage. I so enjoy my mug and am drinking tea out of it right now.

Solly- Can't believe I forgot to watch Dancing with the Stars last night. Dang where was my mind. You sure are getting some good work outs done.

    Better run.....
