Hi everyone. Nothing going on here today except its brrrrrrr cold. I didn't weigh this morning. I'll try and remember tomorrow. Eating today was good. Hope I can make it through the night like that. Hope Monet is doing okay. Sorry this is so short.
I'm really struggling with feeling like a failure when it comes to my weight. I think four good years really spoiled me to the reality of how hard it can be to get the weight back off. I'm going to try really hard to visit the board every day and be an active part.
Just a fly by. I hope you all don't mind that I made the board for two weeks instead of one. Just easier for me right now...
My MIL left this morning. It was one of her better visits. I babysat the baby while his parental units went off by themselves to celebrate some anniversary or something... He woke up at 3, then 8, so I was pretty wiped out all day. Tonight, we went to spaghetti night. It is whole wheat pasta, so I did very well. I took broccoli in a legal cheese sauce, and ate some of that.
Quick post...I forgot to weigh for MMM, so I did MMT instead! Down two this week! Tom credits it to walking yesterday. I credit it to that, NO eating inbetween meals, AND no sugar, AND waiting 30 minutes after my Byetta to eat.
Just a fly-by for me, too. I'm in super cleaning mode, but then my friend called and asked if I could take her to Clayton to drop off her car to be worked on and it took out an hour from my schedule, so I have to catch up. But I have all of my laundry done and mostly put away and now I'm working on sheets. We're getting some nice lake-effect snow today, so we're all hoping for a nice snow day tomorrow. I'll have to call in at work, but that's fine. I'd love to stay home with the kids and play in the snow.
I'm so pumped about the Super Bowl!! I keep watching ESPN to see if they have any predictions, etc, but they're talking about basketball.
I'm still home with the flu! Kate still has the flu...Tippy would make a good nurse, but I can't get her out of the bed long enough to treat us!
I can't get KATE to eat anything substantial, and she's only drinking sprite. I guess that's better than nothing at all. Yesterday...she had me up at 6:30 a.m. fixing a scrambled egg, and then she tried to eat some chicken soup and then last night one piece of cheese and four saltines. FINGERS CROSSED AND PRAYERS SAID PLEASE...as all of you know, once we get older, it's harder to shake illness.
I'm off to try to get her up for a while...I'll check in later.
Tech- That picture is adorable! Howdy all. Just another boring afternoon today cause I'm so lazy. I did do a load of wash but thats all right now. Tomorrow I hope to get busy. I had oatmeal for breakfast with some flaxseed meal on it. I think lunch will be leftover stir fry. We're supposed to have burritos for dinner but it doesn't sound good to me right now.
CountryMom- I'm having the exact same problem as you. I fight all the time to get back on program. Its so hard.
Bob- I hope you and Kate get better soon. That flu is awful.
Monet- You sound like a good Grandma! Yum spraggetti sounds so good to me.
Nothing special going on here. The doctor's report is fine. Come back in 6 months. I did not like this dr. He is part of a 4-5 dr team I have assigned to me. I may ask that he be removed. Didn't act like he knew anything. They had told me they were changing my tamoxifen this visit and he said they didn't do that until 3 years. He would not even address my water retention. I need to find an internist. Other than that it is crazy and busy here. Off to the gym later.
Monet, congrats on your loss. You know what works and that is a start. I bet your MIL's visit was better due to the baby.
Heart, You have figured out you are an emotional eater and that is a good start. Now find something else to turn to instead of food when youa re upset. Maybe exercise or a hobby. I know it is easier said then done. I guess I haven't figured out why I eat. Hang in there. Money problems are a bummer.
Tech, So far they are predicting the Colts by 7. I don't know. It will be close but I am sure hoping the Colts pull it out.
BOb, so sorry you and Kate have the flu. Hope both of you are better today. I take GNC Women's Mega vitamin. I like them.
Country, You are not a failure. Look at how well you have done so far. We all have set backs. Coming here daily really helps. Looking forward to your more frequent posts.
Toni, it is cold here too. My scale does that crazy stuff too. Probably the moon.
Rosalie, great job walking. I talk to myself all the time while exercising. I get to a 5 minute mark and tell my self I can do 2 more minutes, then 3 more. You can plan your day, meals, etc while you are walking. I didn't pay any attention to the dates on the thread, thanks.
Not very in the mood here. Has been a really downer the past week or so. Lost the last 2 puppies last night. We're just heart-sick over loosing them all. I know it may not mean anything to any of you all but just needed to share that. It would have meant $1800 boost to our income as well as the sentimental attachment that we had already formed to them. Eating has been horrible with all the stress. Yetsreday I was in bed all day with a virus. Couldn't keep anything down.
Country I completely understand how you feel about the gain. I did so well before & lost 60 lbs only to gain every one of them back. Now I'm struggling with a poor self-image as well as the failure that I am.
Monet, sorry to hear about your dh's loss of his job.
BOB, sorry you're still sick.
Tech, Love the avatar!! What a cutie!
Solly, keep up the good work with the good reports! Hey, if you don't feel comfortable with a doctor it's your RIGHT to request him off your case. You should have confidence in your care-providers.
Toni, stay warm!
Sorry if I missed anyone. Not intentional. Have a good day all!
I didn't get my walk in this morning. Had a restless night so got up a little later than usual but did go bowling. I don't usually bowl very good but to-day I had three good games. I've started going to a bowling league on Friday mornings so have to get in that competitive spirit. . Tuesday and Thursday mornings are just practice. Should be going to badminton this evening.
BOB - Sorry to hear that you and Kate are both sick. Get well soon.
Heartmom & Countrymom - Just hang in there.
Tech - No I am not a real hockey fan but I do watch it occasionally. Hope you get the snow you are wishing for but try and keep it all down there if you can. It used to be fun to play in it with the kids but I can do without it now.
Solly - Glad you had a good doctor's report. It must be frustrating to get different doctors on each visit particularly when they don't agree with each other.
Toni -.
Monet - Congrats on the two pounds lost. I'm sure you are right that it is more to do with no snacking than one day of walking. But whatever it is enjoy the success.
Tom is off meeting with the job replacement consultant. His manager from work called today to tell him how shocked he was that Tom was laid off. There doesn't seem to be much reasoning behind who got the axe. We, of course, don't believe in accidents. There is a reason...we just need to wait for it to unfold. It is hard to not be anxious though.
MELF: Oh, I am SO sorry about the puppies! I would be heartbroken too! How devastating! You are NOT a failure! You need to read up on the current research on weight loss. When ALL your systems are set to encourage you to eat, and your body thinks you need to weigh 60 pounds more, it is like swimming upstream. There is plenty of data showing some folks gain weight MUCH easier than others, and on less caloric intake! New research on Leptin and Adiponectin show that the old 'calories in, calories out' idea is NOT entirely true. You lost it before...and you will do it again! That is not failure, but determination.
We woke to a dusting of snow. I was shocked when I opened the garage door and saw it. It is so pretty all neatly tucked on the yards and none on the streets. Now that is the kind of snow I like. Drining was not a problem. One highway had lots of wrecks, but it always has problems.
Got in a good 60 minutes of wt training last night. Tonight will be all aerobic training. I was disgusted with the scale this morning, up 2-3 pounds. There is no reason other than dinner was later and I was full.
Melf, I am so sorry that you lost the last 2 puppies. I know how quickly they become part of you, not to mention the lost income. Hope you are feeling better. You are not a failure. IF this were easy, everyone in the world would be skinny. You did it before and can do it again. Take one day at a time. Hang in there. We are here for you.
Rosalie, 3 days of w\bowling is great exercise. You will be pro before we know it.
Monet, hope Tom has some success. I agree, there is a reason. Sometimes we are just too impatient for that reason to materialize.
BOb, how are you and Kate feeling today? Better I hope.
Gator, are you lurking. You promised to come back after things settled down. We miss you.
Missy, where are you?
Country, how was your day?
Got to get this crazy day started. Have a great one.
I went for my mall walk this morning. I left a llittle later so was able to walk there. I don't like to walk at 6.30 in the morning as it is still dark. Also some days are too cold and the paths are icy. I will have to miss my badminton this evening as I am picking up two of my gcs from school and having them here for dinner, homework and maybe some games if we have time. Not sure what time Mom and Dad will be back but it will be before bedtime. Next week I will be having them for a couple of days while Mom and Dad are away. Which means getting them up for school as well as picking them up etc. Hope I can get them to school on time. .
I thought my eating was good the last couple of days but still no change on the scale. Yesterday for lunch I had chana hummus in a pita with some salad. (Will probably have the same for lunch to-day but maybe I should eat only half of the pita, not the whole one like I had yesterday.) For dinner I had breaded fish with green beans and grapes for snack/dessert. I know the breaded fish isn't legal but sometimes you need something quick and easy. Today for dinner I am going to cook a whole chicken in the crockpot and have a stir fry with lots of veggies and noodles for the kiddos. I haven't cooked a chicken this way before but saw the recipe somewhere and thought I would try it.
Melf - So sorry to hear about your puppies. That is very sad and I can understand how you feel. Hope you have gotten rid of that virus and are feeling better to-day.
Monet - Hope things went well for Tom at the meeting yesterday and he is able to find suitable employment soon.
Solly - That's the kind of snow I like too. You are awesome with all the exercising and weight training you are doing. You must be developing lots of muscle. Maybe that is why the weight is not going down. Do you ever measure yourself to see if you are losing inches if not pounds?
I'd better get going. I have laundry to finish, salad to make and a few other things to do.
[SIZE="2"]KATE on the other hand is still PUNY!! She is starting to worry me...I called the DOC and they told me to make sure she gets a LOT of REST!! WELL...she's getting a lot of rest alright...In the last three days, she's had a scrambled egg...some cottage cheese...a few saltines and a banana...I'm off to get her some GATORAIDE on DR BROTHER'S ORDER...he called last night and wrote his script by phone via KY!!....ANY IF MY RESIDENT NURSES HAVE A HELP HERE???
