Red face 3 lbs left

Hello there

I am close to my weight goal, only 3 lbs left plus maintenance. I hope I don't pig out 'cause I am so happy. But it's been around 114 for a couple of weeks now so it staggered, but I am eating more like 1500-1700 cals and still exercising. One more step to 110, and we're there::

Current weight: 113
Goal weight: 110

Kaitikat,

I'm really happy that you have lost the weight you wanted to, congradulations! A good way for you to stay at a healthy weight is to get involved with sports at your school, if you're not already. Remember, you are still growing and developing, so you will gain weight, and that is NORMAL. Your belly won't go away just because you dieted. Baby fat on a 13 year old is a real thing, and you will see as you mature that your belly flattens out on it's own

Has your doctor been monitoring your weight loss? That is VERY important for a growing girl. You need more calories as a female teenager than any other time in your life! You have a lot of bone, breasts, hips and brain to make, and that takes energy, otherwise known as calories. Start exercising more and eating lots of healthy foods, like oatmeal, fruit, whole wheat bread, lowfat cheese, meat, and veggies, and you won't become overfat, you'll just become YOU! If your worried about getting "fat" again, stay away from junkfood, but don't deprive yourself if you feel hungry, ok?

Again, yay for your success!

Default hey

You are doing a great job!!! I am just conserned that you havent had you period. I am only 14 but have had it for 2 years and have never gone that long with it. Did you just start it? Because if you have then it wont be regualar for about a year. But if you have had it for some time then I think that you should see a doctor asap. Cuz that could mean that you are in serious lack of nutients such as the things that help produce blood. That is good that you told you mom about it too but I still think you should see a doctor! Good luck with the last two pounds!

Default Hey

I have read that during the first year that it does really variy in when it comes but I will still just make a appointment with your doctor just for a check up. There he/she can make sure that you are heathly and that you are getting the right nutients. Even if you are ok, it is a good idea to get a check up once in a while expecely when you are dieting!

Hi Kaitikat,

I'm glad you are going to make an appointment with your doctor. Your period can be irregular the first year, but since you have been on a rather restrictive low calorie diet, you may very well be lacking in important nutrients, which would cause you not to get your period when you in fact should be! Either way your doctor will be able to MONITOR your weight loss, which is REALLY important for a 13 year old Don't forget, most of the women on this board are adults, and our doctors have told us we needed to lose weight for health reasons. Even though people don't talk about it in the forums, they go to their regular doctors or specialists like dieticians, who monitor their rate of weight loss to make sure that it is *healthy* weight loss.

Hi kaitikat! Good job on your weight loss! I think my period vacillated a lot during the first year or two, I also started around 12 or 13 (12 I think), but it wasn't until late 13 that it became regular. It's normal. On the other hand, if you have regular periods and then start skipping after entering a rigid diet, it may be amenorrhea due to weight loss (3 periods skipped), but it's not your case; for some, primary amenorrhea occurs - that is when the period does not start at all, not your case either. So, you've got nothing to worry about! I am sure your physician would be of more help at an annual exam, but I asked my friends, they had some similar things when they were at that phase.

Your diet looks balanced to me, so if you're eating around 1200+, that should be okay. I wonder if you're getting enough proteins (meat, fish, you mentioned nuts) and calcium (e.g. from dairy products), I hope so. good luck!

Hi!
I'm 18, and only 5"2 tall. I WAS 120lbs, just a few months ago. Now I'm about 113lbs, for a loss of 7lbs! But that's not enough, because before I put on the weight, I was 98lbs! I don't expect to be that weight again, but I'd like to weigh 105lbs. That's reasonable, isn't it? Well, since we have similar goals, I was wondering if we could be weight loss buddies! You seem to really know what you're doing!

Hi and congrats! I am at 110 lbs. now (with a huge part of August left before classes start, so I am overjoyed with reaching this weight ahead of time) and I haven't felt better about myself in a while. I will keep exercising, and I am sliding into maintenance plan diet-wise. Good luck to you with your weight loss!
