Hi everyone!
I have a few reward systems...one that I do is "collecting." I have purchased a little stuffed bear for each 10 pound loss, and have them lined up on my dresser...this is great if you collect Beanie Babies, or any sort of small figurine type thing. There is a lady I know who bought a charm bracelet, and buys herself a new charm for every 10 pound loss...
I also reward every 5 pound loss...with something fitness related, past rewards have been a yoga mat, a new sports bra, a new exercise video...
I also know someone who buys a new pair of sexy undies for every 5 pounds loss...you can spend anywhere from $3 to $10 a pair on average. Fashion Bug has some awesome trendy styles in regular and plus sizes...reds, blacks, velvets, thongs...you name it-they got it!
Have your hair colored, buy a small tanning package at a salon, if you don't have much money-paint your toenails Elvira red...check to see if your local town has a beauty school-you can get a pedicure or mainicure their pretty cheaply...and are giving students the credits they need to get their license. (I am a cosmetologist
) Take a long bath with the works...light a candle and turn out the lights, use scented bath bubbles or Calgon...and play dreamy music.
I am also learning to be thrilled with my fitness accomplishments...the new curves in my biceps...the emerging abdominal muscles...the pride I feel when I perform. (I am a bellydance student) Rather than worrying about how many calories I am burning-it feels great to judge a workout on my after workout "rush" or how I managed to learn a new dance move, or how I gritted my teeth through that last upill 1/2 mile in a long walk...finding joy in working out and in your fitness accomplishments I think are just as, if not more important than in the scale number...always challenge yourself. You will be glad you did.
