I am on Day 9 of your wonderful program, and I am feeling very tired. My hamstrings are killing me, and I feel pooped all the time. I worked out (which I do every week) and could not do the step class that I usually take. I had to leave after 35 minutes. Is this common? Is there something I should be eating more of? I drink about 2 quarts of water a day.

Dr. Agatston: Fatigue during Phase I is not uncommon. It can occur due to some fluid loss associated with fat breakdown. Keeping up with fluids before, during, and after exercise is important. It may also be necessary to add some extra salt to your food during this phase to help maintain your fluid volume. This is especially true for those who exercise vigorously. Cramping and tired muscles are particularly associated with salt depletion; begin adding salt to your food, drink more, and see how you do.

i found this on prevention.com... thought it may help anyone... does to me.......

MsCrockett - Drinking water is good but it is also important to make sure you are getting enough carbs. We DON'T want ketosis on South Beach so you need to eat legumes/beans and drink your milk/eat your yogurt. That can help. Even with it, many people do need to decrease their exercise during phase 1. Don't worry, you will get the energy back.

I git sooo oo this close to wanting a tattoo, but truth be told, I am such a pain weeeenie... I doooo soooo admire them though.

Just takin a break, as a vday present to DH I washed his car. He got a Acura TL in November and it is AWESOME....it's got that on board navigation system which is soooo very useful to the direction impaired like me...and wonderful since we are new to Nerth Caroliner! It's just been one of those Perfect Days (sorry Ruthie dahlink) but it's now 71,... there are beeeeUTIful birds all around the feeder... fat bluejays, cardinals and leetle yellow birds are stopping by.I have all the windows WIDE open! This aint takin no time at all ta git use tooo. MIL in Joisey is dealing with melting of the 18 inches they got.

I'm gettin ready to make Pearsydews YUMOLA GRANOLA and tonight I'm making a ginger/teriyaki steak stirfry.

Oy! What a day! Here's something for my fellow germophobes: 34 children sick today. 34 out of 235. Only one teacher stayed home today, but 1/2 of them shouldn't be here. People think I'm being rude when I say "please don't touch my desk" or "let me get you a different pen" but I just really don't want to get sick. You all know that tomorrow night once piano is over, I'm going to come down with whatever this 72-hr flu is, and I'll have it for my entire long weekend and it'll be done just in time to go back to work Tuesday. Sigh.

So I got here today and found out that it's Yearbook Picture Day. I had to be on the intercom every 5 minutes from 8:30 until 11:30. Then, the mailman hit one of our light posts with the mail truck. It is just one thing after another today!!! I WANT TO GO HOME!!!!!

Good news is that I successfully ran 3/4 mile without being too tired last night.

Please everyone keep praying because I want out of this job desperately.

Well my lunch hour is pretty much eaten up because I've been dealing with sick and injured children. Talk to you all some other time!

I haven't really posted over here before, and I thought I'd come check it out! I've been on the Beach since December 15, 2005...I've been strictly doing Phase 1 only...and before anyone jumps on me about it, I've already read that it's perfectly fine if you have such a significant amount of weight to lose....I have 111 left to lose.

Grapes on the other hand, I believe might be legal fer phase 2.....

Kayleystar You won't find anyone "jumping" on you fer doing what is best fer you--- as long as you are eating well, not promoting starvation, or anything like that.
