I'm reading the Thyroid Diet book and am starting Nora Robert's Black Rose. Thyroid diet has been a great source of information on thyroid issues. I love all the books by Nora Roberts/JD Robb.
Amy - I picked up Nora Robert's Black Rose yesterday and started reading it at the dentist this morning. It was hard to put down and go to work afterwards.
Jenn, what did you think about Jemima J? I liked it a little, but for the most part, that narative thing that was going on was excruciating. Not to mention, I think it was a fat chick book written by a skinny chick My all-time favorite "fat chick" book has to be "She's Come Undone" I cried like a BABY!
I liked it and I didn't nweisha -- I didn't like it because of your points but also, she lost weight for a guy basically and didn't do it the healthy way. But for a good week or so there, I went to the gym everyday. For a skinny writer, I could relate to parts of the store, but *not* others.
I LOVES She's Come Undone. It's one of my all-time favorites!!! Maybe I will re-read that this weekend while HB is away -- oh AND finish 3rd Degree by James Patterson.
I LOVED the Nanny Diaries. Yes, it was defintely weird in the end, but any reaction to the end of a book is a positive thing. I'll look for the new one.
I'm going out to buy Black Rose this weekend. LOVED Blue Dahlia. MIL and I will be wrestling over it, but she's got Survivor in Death right now, so she can wait!
I'm telling ya ladies, check out Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter series if you're into JD Robb/Nora Roberts. They're incredible.
MIL and I have a list of hot books that come in. (Aunt buys them and sends them our way when she's done, couple times a year) Whenever JD Robb or Suzanne Brockmann fly through the door, it's a fight to the finish!
Wow...what's She's Come Undone about? I remember hearing about it but honestly (this is SO shallow! ) I wasn't interested because it was written by a guy named Wally and I remember thinking, what does he know about this? Oy... I'll have to check it out since you both liked it so much!
Tara, Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors. He's dreamy! I'd love to read the Guardian, but I have to wait until my library gets it or a friend shares a copy with me. You'll have to tell us how it is!
The big "O" (oprah's book club) threw me off but I had heard such great things.
I read it a long time ago, but it's the story of a girl who struggles to fit in. After enduring many hardships (don't want to give too much away here) throughout her life she turns to eating. It's a depressing book at times, but once I could relate to...don't read it if you are looking for a 24/7 laugh riot (although he made me chuckle at times). Lamb got into the main character, Dolores, VERY well (for a man writing a female character!).
Adia, you darling! I've read all his books but the new one. I'm waiting with baited breath! Did you like Nights in Rodanthe? It was a bit different than his other books but I loved it. The imagery in that book was palpable!
If you get the new one and are done with it...let me know. I can always pick it up from you when you're in the area or when we're in your area.
Jenn, you do make it sound interesting! Some of Oprah's choices I have loved, but some of them didn't do it for me. I did love Beloved as much as she did. The movie did a good job with a hard text, but DH thought it was awful.
Laurie, you HAVE to get She's Come Undone. But, when you get it also buy a box of facial tissue because Wally sure does know how to make ya cry!! He also wrote a book about a set of twins where one is schizophrenic & the other has basically been his caretaker, etc. That one was a cry-fest also. I THINK the name of it is "I know this is true" or something like that.
