Good sunny Sunday morning.

Hershey is all spiffed up with a bath and a brushing, her scarf is washed and pressed and now I need to try to look as good. There is a special Blessing of the Therapy Dogs at a Church in Brockville this morning so we have to look our best. I hope the eight dogs we passed last month behave themselves! www.tpoc.ca

Yesterday was wild in the Greenhouse with lots of folks in despite the rain. I got home on time to go to the snobby Mill opening and mingle with the so-called dignitaries. There was even reserved parking for us. Of course I walked and took a dog and completely ruined my dignitary status! My old friend and former neighbour Cheryl came in afterwards and we had a great visit. She has a super sense of humour. There were some Portie dust balls rolling around the floor in the back room as the ceiling fan was on. We sat and watched them roll across the floor, join up into bigger portie bunnies and decided it reminded us of smoking up, listening to music and watching the lava lamp! Shades of the 60's! Too funny! If I'd vacuumed, I'd have missed the experience!

My sympathies to all starting or restarting Phase I. It does get better. Remember that legumes are OK in Phase I. Which reminds me, I have a bean dip recipe to post for Phase I and a McMUffin for Phase II.

Have a great day!

Morning chickies just sitting here doing nothing.DH is watching the tube and the girls are both at friends houses they had sleep overs last night. DH let me sleep in to 8:30 and then we had a little snuggle time . I am just sitting here thinking that I should be doing something but doing nothing. DH has a ball practice this afternoon if it stops raining and I may go to the Walmart to get some cleaning supplies and some treats for the kids. And maybe look at bathing suits but all that depends on the rain. If not maybe I will do some house work and some cooking for the week and throw in a little laundry.
Ellis- I did not get to the garden center not sure why but I will look for your stuff if I ever get there. I really should or my new little garden will look bare all summer. I love teaching the little ones and am glad that I get the chance to do it again next year. Our show is next week Friday and Saturday I am getting a little nervous about that.
Ruthie- glad you had a good time yesterday. Watching dust bunnies sure you two wern't Have a nice time in church I am sure the dogs will be on their best behavour.
Well I must go DH is standing over my shoulder waiting to check the Nascar site as he fell asleep before the race was over and needs to check on our little family pool we have going. My youngest DD and DH and I have a pool going on. ( nothing like teaching your kids to gamble early in life. ) I will check in again later. Hope the rest of you chicks are doing great and sorry that I didn't post to each of you.

Default Mornin

Mornin' ladies! I'm glad to say I'm back on the beach, and really happy about it! Ate some boca sausage and string cheese for breakfast, gonna make some soup for lunch, and chili for supper. Easy day today.

Cottage - my yard is in DESPERATE need of a mulching.... feel like doing mine too? I just hate the thought of it, but love how it looks afterwards. We need to invest in a wheelbarrow though. I am a city girl (from So. Cal) who moved out into the country in TN about 3 years ago, and I'm still getting used to all the work that needs to be done when you actually own a yard! LOL

Ruth... I see you love dogs!! We just got a puppy from a shelter about 2 weeks ago. (Dachshund/Basset mix) We got her VERY young...she'll be 8 weeks on Weds. Mama was just having nothing to do with the puppies anymore, and the shelter was letting them go. I feel like they should have stayed with mom longer, but had we waited, we would've missed out...all 8 of them were adopted in about 2 days. She's adorable...and is even doing really well with her potty training, but do you have any tips on dealing with the biting that goes with being a puppy? I just keep giving her ("Bonnie") other things to chew on, and tell my daughter (who is 7) if the dog won't stop biting you ... leave her alone and go sit on the couch. Bonnie's a sweet little thing tho. We also have a yellow lab, Lucy, who is an outside dog. She's not too sure she likes seeing a puppy in the house! I'm waiting for the right time to introduce the two in person, but 75 lbs. v. 5 lbs seems like I'm asking for trouble!!

I think today I will actually dust off the ol' treadmill and walk for a while. I have to get back into the exercise routine again.

Hubby is watching the last half of the Laker game downstairs, (love TIVO), and I'm supposed to be up here studying, so I better get to it!!! I think I'll have one more cup of coffee study for the better part of the day, and walk on the treadmill. It's going to be a quiet day around here. Looks like we might get more rain too.

Have a great day!!

I love Sundays. Until about 7pm when the sinking realization that work follows in the morning sets in. My Sunday mornings consist of Coronation Street (8-10am) and coffee. Have only missed one in five years now, and that was because we were in West Palm Beach and they didn't get CBC in the hotel.

So TODAY I am grocery shopping. Cleaned ALL day yesterday, and had a date for dinner/movie last night with a girlfriend. I was very good, ate grilled salmon and steamed veggies at dinner. We saw Van Helsing, and it was worth sitting through two hours of it before Hugh Jackman took off his clothes. I've liked Kate Beckinsdale before, but she really over-acted this part.

Also on the agenda today is tackling Mt. Laundry and a walk by the lake. Or maybe I'll take my bike out for a spin...bought a Schwinn Cruiser last year and love it! Oh, and I have GOT to vacuum my car!

Ruth, I think it's wonderful that you and Hershey are involved with patient therapy! Animals bring such joy to people, and to brighten a day for someone in long-term care is a very loving thing to do. I actually teared up seeing Babushka the cat sleeping in bed with that man on the website. I know how it would make me feel if I were in his place.

Sounds like a lot of us needed some extra rest yesterday!

jenne, sorry the date didn't work out, but if you find a friend in her, that's a good deal, too. You deserve nothing but the best, and she is out there somewhere!

RNMOM, now there's a job perk! Getting to stick needles in people. I wonder if that would work in Finance?

Well, if I am going to get anything done today I have to get off my behind and into the shower. Hello to all of you, and have a great day!

Are refried beans allowed on Phase 1? I didn't think they were, but I see some recipes that say that are for Phase 1 that have refrieds in them. Thanks in advance!

Hi, everyone...

I have been lurking a little, but I have really been discouraged about "falling off the wagon". My weight loss with SBD was not as encouraging as what some have experienced. Then, when I went on Phase II, it really slowed down to a crawl. Overall I lost a total of 9 lbs and have now gained 4 back -- some of what I gained back was during Phase II!

So, I am just checking in and hoping to get back with it. At least this is a step in the right direction. Today I am going to get what I need from the market to stick with it this week.

Missed all of you.

Welcoem back, BirdLady. You are still ahead of the game by 5 pounds so just haul your chaise and butt back to The Beach! We missed you!

Cjane, refried beans are allowed only if they are fat-free - most of them are fried in lard. I usually just mash some tinned beans with a bit of salsa or zap them in the processor when I need refried beans. Works fine for me but I've never had "real" refried beans!

Church and the dogs went well this morning. At the coffee time they graciously supplied a big basin of water and a bowl of dog biscuits for the therapy dogs. All the dogs behaved like little angels for the whole time - nearly two hours!

I am going to try to work in a wee bit of gardening this afternoon. We'll probably have chili for dinner with salad as I have a batch in the freezer! Yay for cook aheads!

Play nicely!

Afternoon all,

I hope y'all are doing allright... I went out last night, had my planned free meal (once a week), think I went overboard though, but am back on that horse today. I am making stuffed peppers for dinner and then me and my BF are going for a walk after dinner and then I'll watch the sopranos.

Weight wise the scale keeps moving south... I also realized I am barely ever eating processed foods and prefer it that way

Wildfire: I gotta takcle mount laundry as well!!

Ellis and Ruth: isn't it beautiful today?

Cheers!

Ali

Hey Birdlady...where abouts in So Cal are you? I noticed in your profile you are an attorney. I worked as a legal secretary in So Cal for about 10 years. Where is your practice? Hey if you ever need a secretary to do transcription via email.. just lemme know! LOL

My day was relatively rough today... felt like day one all over again....only this time I also have the TOM monster lurking nearby. While I wanted to be "the bottomless pit" and eat everything in site, I did fairly well. Made cabbage soup for supper, but put some chicken in it for substance. Made chili for lunch. I ate a turkey dog for a snack which was probably unnecessary, but I was feeling the need to eat and am glad that I ate within the plan...even it was processed.

I notice a lot of you live in Canada! I have lived in the States pretty much my whole life, but I was born in Quebec, and I have a lot of family in Winnipeg.

Have a great night all! We made it thru another day! At least I know from past experience that they just get easier!

Hey there Ruth, CJane and everybody:

Ruth, it is nice to be welcomed back. Thanks for reminding me that I am still ahead of where I started.

CJane--I am in LA. My office is what they call "Beverly Hills Adjacent" -- if I were across the street it would be Beverly Hills but on my side of the street it is Los Angeles. What took you to TN?

By the way, my previous firm was in Encino, so if you ever worked there at a firm at Havenhurst and Ventura, please email me privately. But, heaven knows, there are PLENTY of lawyers and legal secretaries in LA.

As for my secretary, she is one of these thin people who likes veggies and salads better than fattening things. It is a wonder we have gotten along so well for almost 10 years!

Hangin' in there and glad to be back at the beach
