I didn't really have a plan for today's main meal, so I went rooting in the freezer and came up with a couple of tilapia filets.
The fish came out great, so I thought I'd share for the fish lovers.
I sprayed a baking sheet with olive oil Pam and then put the filets on the pan and also sprayed them with Pam.
Then I put a big glob of honey dijon mustard on each of them and brushed it all over the filets pretty thick.
Then I sprinkled each with a lot of seasoning (I used Chef Paul's "Magic Salmon" seasoning, but whatever you have should work fine.)
I was out of lemons, but I'm sure that would have been good on top also.
Then I put them in the oven at 350 for about 25 minutes (the were BIG filets)..then turned on the broiler till they got very brown. It was great..
the mustard formed a kind of crust on them and the fish was very moist..not dried out at all. My husband really loved it.
I also fixed a caprese salad and some of that cauliflower/broccoli Birdseye steamed in the bag stuff. I'm not usually one for frozen vegs, but it was very good.
PS: Kiko...you get more days than me..no fair!! I have to go back on the 13th and kids start on 15th..

Happy My guess would be that the energy drinks are a no, especially for Phase 1. Of course, that is a guess since I don't know what the ingredients are. What do you teach? I teach north of Dallas and will be teaching 4th grade this year.
Betty I go back to work August 20 and then the kids come back on the 27th. I have to admit that I am getting excited about going back. We have had an extra long summer, so it has been nice.
Megan Get that saggy booty taken care of, will you??
Kim Has Aunt Flo made her appearance yet? Jessie What about you?
Femme That sounds delish! Don't you love it when something you throw together comes out great? I didn't want to grocery shop until tomorrow, so we (Abigail helped me!) made a meatloaf that is currently baking- it smells so good! We are having brussel sprouts and then mashed potatoes for the girls. Not really a summer meal, but I am looking forward to it!
Nice day here- the pool was lovely and the kids had fun.
Pohai, the kids and I used our government-issued passports to get here to Korea and we're non-command-sponsored. We had to get them before Tom left California because this tour is unaccompanied and he had to have all our stuff ready for Germany before he left for Korea. *He* is going to have to get a civilian passport since he isn't issued a military one anymore (they just take his orders and ID as a passport for getting to Ramstein), but the kids and I have had no problems using our government-issued ones. They aren't even brown anymore, just blue and then we have our German (and Korean) visas stamped in there.
Betty, oh my gosh Dash is SO CUTE! Here are Oscar and Sophie. I went to that website and ended up purchasing Christmas presents for Mom, Dad, lil bro, and a shirt for myself. I only went there searching for a shirt for little Dash. Maybe Oscar and Sophie need shirts too....
Thanks Kara, I'm dreading the whole command sponsorship thing and the EFMP testing is a pain I'm hoping we don't need to do it again since we already went through the whole process in Hawai'i. We've been in GA for a little less than a year.
Hello, chatty chicks, I'm back from vaca with my head hanging in shame. Day 1 no cheating, Day 2, 1/2 piece sourdough french bread, Day 3 - 2 slices real bacon, a few licks of my DS's ice cream and a few potato chips off his plate, Day 4 - veggie tempura, Day 5 - 2 chocolate ice cream bars, Day 6 (today) started off really bad, 2 doughnuts, no lunch, ordered shrimp for dinner, not realizing until they came that they were fried, ate them anyway. What a slippery slope. Okay, back to reality, picking myself up and dusting off, tomorrow is a good day to get back on track. Just worrying about the weigh in on Saturday. The 2 ice cream bars were because DD was calling me all evening because she'd broken up with boyfriend, he wasn't taking it well. Finally ended up with him putting hands on her, and police involved. And me stressing out over all this from a distance with her home alone. She's fine though, more scared than injured.
For the good news, missing DH has turned up and will be home tomorrow night after the 1 week cruise turned into 4 weeks. It will be good to have him home again with all this wierdness going on. And he'll have a few days to spend with the niece before she goes home next week. I see new names here - at least new to me, so welcome! And congrats on adorable new babies and babies-to-be (maybe)!
Both. I finished my BA at Seattle Pacific and taught fifth and fourth/fifth in Seattle. Then Tom got transferred to the Presidential Honor Guard and I taught third grade in D.C.
We love Washington state! We are hoping to be able to retire there, somewhere on the Olympic peninsula.
Hey Schmoo!!! Glad your daughter is OK. We joke that we're going to lock the girls up when they turn thirteen, but of course we won't actually do that. I imagine it's so hard to not be able to always protect your kids as they get older. My biggest problem now are scraped knees and toys being taken away...
Pohai, you should be fine. I'm sure you'll have to do the EFMP process again. You know the military - the more paperwork the better!
I would vote for the stressful job conditions excuse.
Isn't Seattle terrific? Tom and I had a blast there! He was at McChord for three years - that's where we had our first apartment and our first house and where we got our dog and all that good stuff. I think our adoration for the Pacific Northwest stems partly from that being where we were first "independent" and all the great memories we have from those first married years. Plus, it's just gorgeous there. We love the ocean and the mountains and they're so close together there! Can't beat the hiking and camping. I should probably stop talking about it or else everyone's going to pick up and move there and then we won't be able to afford a place!
