Default Welcome!

Did you read the "sticky" posts on this page? http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=163

You can get quite a few ideas from them, and the recipes. I've checked out books from the library about the Med diet and the Sonoma diet (they're similar).

The beauty of this 'diet' is that there are so many staples that could work that it's hard to make a list. It's very diverse. I'd say to get yourself some olive oil if you don't already have it (plant-based oils are used instead of butter), fresh fruits and vegetables (locally grown, if possible), seafood and poultry, dairy products (yogurt and cheese are my favorites). And don't forget the wine!

Here are some links found in the Mediterranean Chicks forum that might get you started:

Good luck, and let us know what you buy!

There are lots of other threads too. Change the display options at the bottom of the page and you can browse through topics and posts made months ago.

I think we really need a grain thread too..

What kinds of foods do you have in your cupboard now? It would be helpful if you could post a short inventory of what you think you already have …..

The link posted in my previous thread is the Super Food thread. I think its a great step for those looking for a change from SAD (Standard Amercian Diet) towards a more healthy eating plan... maybe even Med.

It's interesting ... I've read about the Sonoma diet, the Mediterranean diet, Super Foods, and other various lists of extra-healthy foods. Although some items vary, most every source lists the same basic super-healthy foods: spinach, peppers, nuts, berries, etc.

That makes me feel good no matter what "diet" I decide to follow.
