Red face One week already - how are you doing?

Ok, everyone. It's one week into the new year and the excitement of starting something new is waning. Keep your eye on the prize.. a healthier you and you can get past this bit of the doldrums.

What did you do well the first week? What needs improvement? What surprised you?

Congratulations, Sandra! That's a great start!

I haven't been very Sonomish. I've had the flu and didn't want to think about food, and have just eaten canned soup, hot tea, etc. All those fresh veggies I bought went to waste.

I'm shopping later and will start again tomorrow I'm still excited, Linda

I've been "working" the plan since Wednesday or so...fully since Friday since I got the book Thursday night...and so far so good I love this plan! It is so easy to stick with! My "official" weigh-in is tomarrow, but I've been too curious to wait and so far I've lost 4 lbs.

My husband finally jumped on the bandwagon with me and came home yesterday from work with his lunch-peas and mushrooms w/ ranch dressing. He asked me if that was "plan appropriate". He's so cute! I told him that it should have been more of a vinigarette dressing...I forgot to tell him about having some protein with it too!

Last night we had that pork loin with veg ratatouie but I forgot to add the peppers...oh well, it was still good! dh hates squash...I mean HATES it! So, I was nice and asked him if he wanted peas instead, to which he jumped at. I made him peas and then gave him a spoonful of the ratattouie for a taste, and he started stealing it off MY plate when he finished his! He asked me why I got so much while he got peas and I told him I asked him if he wanted peas instead and just gave him a taste...I think he was kicking himself for not asking for more! Today I have those leftovers on a whole wheat tortilla...sounds sooo yummy I just can't wait!

I am half-way through Wave 1 and doing pretty good. I had a small set-back on Friday when I didn't feel good and ate some potato chips and a Toblerone chocolate bar. But at least it was dark chocolate.

I am still very excited about the Sonoma Diet. Because I am lazy, I've been following the meal plans for each day but I love them! My husband also loves this food. And the recipes are pretty easy to prepare. I am also glad to be exercising regularly again -- I stopped doing cardio for the last two weeks of December but kept up with the weights.

hi there,

today is my first official day 'on plan'. i hadn't heard of the book until the middle of last week so it took me a few days to read the book and get my act together. i had planned on getting back on board with w.w. but this sounds like it will be much more do-able for me.

i almost always eat kashi golean crunch in the morning anyway (but with yogurt, so had milk today instead) and had the greek salad with chicken instead of shrimp - yum! i'm excited to be trying something new that seems like it might be workable for the long run.

Hi everyone! Can I join in? I've been lurking in this forum, reading about the Sonoma diet and picked up a copy late last week. My first day on plan was yesterday. So far so good! I have a real sweet tooth, but luckily, I haven't had many sweet cravings... the hardest part is not finishing up my 4yo son's food...

I look forward to seeing what everyone else is eating!

Thumbs up

What did you do well the first week? I lost 2 pounds for the first week, and that's great, my goal is to lose about 2 pounds a week, so I'm starting out right.

I did well reading through the book, and starting the basic concept. I was really hyped on the new plan, just like I think people are whenever they start something new. I wasn't looking for a miracle, but in a way I think I found one. I think that I have set really realistic goals for myself this go around, and with the fact that the plan is laid out but there aren't any hard core rules, I like the flexibility that I have.

This weekend, I took the time to finish the book, and I have my menu together for the week, so hopefully it will go easier, I think I'm going to get into the habit of trying to make stuff ahead of time on Sunday's so that I can use it throughout the week.

What needs improvement? I need to get better at planning my meals, and also making sure I have some back up snacks available for the days when I can't get enough to eat.

What surprised you?I'm still pretty much eating what I like, I have to admit I'm missing the fruit right now, but it's coming. I don't feel like I am depriving myself, and I am learning and tasting some great new recipes.

I've been on my slightly amended version of the Sonoma diet as I only got the book this weekend.

I love the plate size idea and it's working really well. I've not been strict enough as I've just been following the principles and have snuck in the odd apple and a few squares of chocolate but I'm loving it!

After the biggest ever Christmas gain (6lbs) I'm looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow as I think I've dumped a lot of the water.

Exercise is good too- great to blow the cobwebs away after the Christmas holiday.

All in all a great week and really easy- great results above and good luck everyone!

Hi - I've been on since Jan. 1 and LOVE it! I really got serious about this and got rid of ALL my snacks on Dec. 31. I've really enjoyed Wave 1 and it was just what I needed to get rid of my sugar cravings. And it's worked!! I'm a Lifetime WW and my goal is 145. I was almost five pounds over goal on NY Day and needed to get back in control.

Boy was I happy this morning to step on the scale and be almost a pound under goal. It's been much easier than I'd originally thought to do Wave 1. I can honestly say that I haven't had alcohol, chocolate or other sweets, or even diet Coke since last year. I am so looking forward to having wine with dinner starting Wednesday though. I miss that!

4.5 pounds gone so far and maybe I can FINALLY get to my personal goal.

5lbs down! I can't pretend it's all fat but it's good to see the scale move in that direction.

4 pounds lost the first week. I'm aiming for at least 1-2 pounds per week.

I still dont have the book, so I dont feel I am actually on the Sonoma diet yet.. hopefully it will arrive by this weekend ... I did show a slight gain at my weigh in this week.. It was purely my fault as pizza makes me blow up like a balloon .. My computer is down at home so wont be posting much til we get it back... so have a good week everyone.. .India
