I'm a newbie. My name is Karen and I have been over-weight (sounds better than OBESE) my entire life (37y/o). I'm probably a good example of a diet cycler. I lose and then I hit a wall (chocolate wall ) and gain back everything that I lost. My highest weight was 350lb and the lowest was 248lb. I'm hoping that this time I can stick with my diet and exercise plan.
The reason for this thread is to hold myself accountable for the commitment I made for 2005: Exercise atleast 5 days per week.
Yes, I did.
Treadmill 37 mins, 2660 steps, 1.23 mil.
Hi Karen, I'm what is known a one of the exercise fanatics here on 300+ I've been going to a health club and doing water aerobics 5x a week for about 3 years, but our club hasjust said out a "curves" type program that combines weight machines and aerobics and I did that this morning. I'm going to try doing that 3x and water 2x for a while to see if that will get me back into the loosing mode. Right now I feel like I'm going to be sore!!!
Exercise is definitely one of my downfalls. I'm just trying to get myself back into the habit. When I lost before, I was very consistent, and I was up to about 45 minutes of biking per day. This time around I'm having trouble making it a daily habit again. So my goal for this week is a minimum of 10 min./day. Not much, I know, but I just want to make it through a week and actually exercise a little every single day. I often don't get my exercise in because I stay at the office so late and then I'm half asleep when I get home, so, you know what, in fact, I'm going to go home right now and do those darn 10 minutes. I'll be back!!!!
Thanks for starting the thread, Karen, this is one I need to follow up on.
Well, it was only 10 minutes, but I did it! Thanks again, Karen, for starting this thread... I hope it will help keep me accountable until I make exercise a daily habit again. Even better, it got me out of the office, and I ended up sitting at the coffee shop to grade papers, which is a much nicer environment than sitting alone here in the office late at night. Thanks!
I did 40 mins. on the Treadmill. My pedometer wasn't working, so I could not log my actual steps and speed.
Ageoldie: When I lost my most weight (70lb), I was an exercise fanatic too. I really need to get back in my fanatic mode.
Angela: Any movement is good, when it is helping us reach our goal! I'm trying to get my mother to start doing something (walking or biking) for atleast 5 or 10 mins, still no go.
Did my 10 min. again today. I might try to up a bit tomorrow, but for now my goal is just to actually do the 10 min. every day this week.
WTG, Karen, that's a lot of exercise... hope you're not sore tomorrow. Is there anything your mom really enjoys that involves walking? I keep thinking I need to start going to museums, arboretums, etc., since I enjoy them and it always means an hour or so of strolling. My mother used to walk a ton at work (she's an RN) but now that she's not working she gets at least some walking by shopping (one of her favorite things).
Treadmill 27 mins. I'm ok with that time because I almost talked myself out of working out (Uncle Tom decided to visit).
Angela: My Mom enjoys going to Wal-mart, but the problem is she will start spending too. She's on a FIXED INCOME----that's her favorite phrase since she retired last November .
