Default May Challenge to Stay on Track and Avoid Binges

Looking for companionship and support to make it through a whole month of staying on track by avoiding the binges that prevent us from losing weight. I have been up and down the scale for years. I manage to lose the weight, but let it slowly creep back up within a couple of years. The day after New Years I was at 209. I have made it to 195.5. I want to keep it going and am hoping we can inspire each other to make it happen. I am personally tracking pts with WW and using my apple watch to meet excersise and activity goals.

Today's weight: 195.5

B - Quaker weight control oatmeal and a cup of blueberries
L - Tuna, hard boiled egg, one tbs of mayo, spicy brown mustard and pickle relish with 5 crackers.
D - Tacos with lots of lettuce and tomatoes
Exercise - Turbo Jam

Personal goal for the month - Get to 190!

boatingmommy HI!! I struggle with binge eating and it is so difficult for me to get out of that mindset sometimes. I had a planned "cheat" meal on Friday night and I did relatively well, did not binge. Then Saturday rolled around and I lost all control and that continued throughout Sunday. 8 lbs. later... here I am, sigh. I have lost about half of it after getting back on track right away Monday morning. I have 2 Saturdays in a row that will contain an off plan meal and I am so nervous about my all or nothing approach.

A little bit about me.. I started losing weight the day after Thanksgiving in 2016 and weighed in at 256. I cut out gluten and alcohol and since then I have dabbled with many different ways of dieting. I counted calories for a while, carbs for a very short period of time, and now I am on WW.

Tacos sound really good, I should add the ingredients to my grocery list!! Have you ever heard of "Ole Mexico" tortillas? They are 1 point each and actually really good! I bought mine at Target, but haven't seen them there in a while, but my friend says they are at Walmart too. I miss oatmeal, but I need to add in a ton of brown sugar to mine and I am sure that would send my points through the roof!!

You are doing really well and its nice to see someone else also doing WW!!

kfunk6113 - Welcome! Looking at your ticker...I am in awe! That is fabulous! I can so relate to the weekend weight gain! It is so frustrating, especially when I know what causes it. We like to go out with family and friends on the weekend, drink a few adult beverages...which sometimes is a few too many! I don't want you to think that we are serious drinkers with a problem, but alcohol is sooooo bad for dieting and maintaining. I have been working the past month on just picking one evening on the weekend to have a couple of drinks, instead of a couple Friday night, Saturday...oh, and don't forget on Sunday on the patio while grilling. YIKES!

About me...I came to this website years ago and lost a ton of weight. Then I got busy with life and packed some of the pounds back on. In late 2013/early 2014 I got back down to 152 from about 198. I was doing so well...then I totally derailed myself. And here I am again!

Thanks for the tip on the tortilla's. I am always looking for low point substitutes.

Okay, I finished Turbo Jam Cardio party #3 before sitting down to the computer...I literally have rivulets of sweat pouring off me. Time to shower and crash in my recliner!

Good morning Boatingmommy and Congrats on your weight of 195!

Thanks for starting the May thread. I have been super busy these last two days and I can't log onto the site as much at work right now. For some reason, I'm also having trouble getting access to our Wi-Fi with my iPad.

So far this month has been pretty good for me. I've walked 1 day and I plan on walking after work today. Eating has been decent too. My WW session ended yesterday and I'm thinking that I may join outside of work this time. I will be going on a cruise on the 20 so I'm trying really hard to lose a few pounds before leaving so that my cruise clothes fit.

kfunk6113 - Welcome to the challenge and I hope you have a successful month of May.

boatingmommy and gettinfit Thank you for the welcomes!!!

boatingmommy I can not wait until I am at goal and I can drink beer again I had given it up because I seem to retain like a mofo and also would find myself getting into the snacks, plus I gave up gluten for a year. I like your idea of trying to pick a night to drink instead of 3. Wow, the last time you were here you did amazing! I can't wait to see 152 on the scale, it has been YEARS!! Turbo Cardio Jam sounds intense, bravo!!!!!

gettinfit Way to start of the month strong, that is awesome!! I do WW online and have one month left before my 3 month term expires. I have never been to a meeting though, I bet that would be even more inspirational! A cruise sounds fantastic!!!

I want to post my food daily, I really like that idea, so thank you!

Good morning and Happy Friday Boatingmommy and kfunk

kfunk: It's nice to have another WWer join us in the challenge. WW works really good for me when I follow the plan so I'm planning to stick with it and I'm going to rejoin a meeting. I really like the group support. I am finally getting my mind in the right place to stick with the program. Last month was very stressful for me but things are getting better

Boatingmommy: I hope all is going well with you.

Today should be an easy one for me to stay OP. I'm working from home today so I plan on getting out at lunch time for a walk.

Today's Log

B: Coffee, watermelon
S: banana, 1/4 C peanuts, pineapple, mango
L: Tortellini w/pasta sauce

Good morning, Ladies!

kfunk6113: Yes, I am a total bloat queen when drinking beer, and then I work all week to get that bloat back off. It stinks! It is Cinco de Mayo on Saturday, so I'm saving my drinks for a few margaritas. My friend is doing a taco bar, but she is also doing grilled chicken since she is watching her calories, too! I wish all weekend events were with someone who is also dieting, it would make it so much easier! I am going to take a fruit salad. I keep seeing the recipe on facebook, so I am going to give it a try. I have never been to a meeting either. I like the website and then checking in here for support.

GettinFit - a cruise sounds so awesome. We did one in February on the Norwegian Escape. It was amazing and we had lots of fun with the group of 10 that went. Where are you heading? Good luck with finding a new WW group.

Well, we are heading out camping for the first time this year. Usually we are at the campground earlier, but with the remodel stuff, we just didn't have time. Plus, Illinois weather has been a beast this year! I'm packing some healthy stuff and planning ahead. I think the worst thing on the menu is the pork steaks, but I'll try and get some walking in to make up for that! I'll be out of commission on here until I get home Sunday! Hang in there ladies! We can do this!

Today's Weight: 194

B- Quaker weight control oatmeal, 1/2 cup blueberries - 4 pts
L- Can of tuna in water, 1 hard boiled egg, 1 tbs light mayo, 2 tbs pickle relish, spicy brown mustard, 5 saltines , apple - 5 pts
D - 4 ounces of pork steak, grilled asparagus 8 pts

No exercise today except running errands and cleaning house and camper

Good morning ladies! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend!! I made it through the weekend without binging!! I was very worried that I would end up binging because we spent the entire day at Mall of America for my daughter’s birthday, but I did awesome!

Gettnfit I am glad that things are less stressful for you this month. I really love the WW program! At first I was unsure if I would renew because we are trying to conceive, but decided that I will pay month to month instead of getting the 3 month discount.

Boatingmommy- YES, the exact same thing happens to me!! I used to be afraid to enter maintenance, because I was worried I would gain everything back, but at least I know that I can indulge on the weekend and as long as I am careful during the week I will get back to where I was. How was the Cinco de Mayo party?! Fruit salad sounds awesome, and it is always a huge hit with people! Is the Quaker oatmeal flavored?

Good morning from Illinois! Well, I'm not going to lie and say I didn't binge a little this weekend. However, I did make sure that i really put in a good workout to counteract bad decisions. Camping was wonderful, and we also got to boat all afternoon on Saturday. I packed the super low cal beer for our relaxation, so that was better than usual. I was a little pissy though, on Saturday. I got up and talked myself into a power walk around the campground. Halfway through my walk my iwatch ran out of power, then I couldn't get my walkmeter app to work on my phone because of no signal! So, I don't know how many calories I burned or how far, I just made sure I walked for about 45 minutes full steam.

Yay Kfunk6113 for staying away from the binge! I have always wanted to see the Mall of America, but haven't made it up there yet! Yes, the quaker weight control oatmeal is flavored. I like the maple flavored with blueberries mixed in, or I sometimes make the Cinnamon and chop up an apple with 1/4 cup water and microwave for 3 minutes, then add the oatmeal. It's not too bad. It keeps me full for a while. Cinco de Mayo was fun...the margaritas were yummy! It was a good time with friends we hadn't seen in a few months.

GettinFit - Hope you had a great weekend! I get to work from home a couple days a week, too! It really does make it easier to meal plan. Hope you are having a good Monday morning!

I hope both of you have a great day!

B - Cottage cheese, Egg scrambled with chopped mushrooms and onion, V8 low sodium - 6 pts
L- Chicken breast deli sandwich on 2 slices health nut bread, lettuce, onion and pickles, apple - 7 pts
D - Grilled Asparagus, Grilled shrimp, 1 oz pasta, Olive oil and seasonings. - 8 pts
S - Fruit

Exercise - Turbo Jam

Good morning ladies from Georgia! It's a beautiful day here.

Boatingmommy: I''m glad you enjoyed your camping trip. That sounds like so much fun. Many many years ago when I was in Girl Scouts we did a couple of overnight camping trips. This trip we are going to Cuba & Mexico on a 5 day cruise. We usually do 2-3 per year. I've only done Royal Caribbean & Carnival. We're booked on a 7 day in Dec as well. I'm not too worried about gaining weight because when I went in Dec, I lost a pound. I stayed away from sweets and I worked out most days.

Kfunk: Great job on surviving the Mall of America. I'm sure that had to be tempting.

I did pretty good over the weekend with my eating. The best I've done in a long time. I even went out to a Mexican restaurant on Saturday. I had a few chips with Salsa and I ordered a grilled chicken & veggie meal. I brought most of it home in a to go box and I ate off it yesterday and am finishing it off for lunch today. Some how I hurt my knee so I wasn't able to walk over the weekend nor will I be able to today. I'm hoping that it feels better by tomorrow because I so want to go walk.

Today's log:
B: Chobani Greek yogurt, banana, coffee
L: Grilled chicken breast w/onion, mushrooms, spinach, 1 cup reduced fat mashed potatoes, 3 Hershey Kisses
D: Lean Cuisine
S: WW Popped crisps
Exercise: Rest

Bbbrrrr! I left all the windows open last night and now I am sitting here shivering at the computer. It's going to be gorgeous later, though, so I'll live with it for now. My tummy was growling right before bedtime last night, guess I burned off a few calories more doing Turbo Jam. I had a tablespoon of peanut butter cause I was craving something sweet. Then I checked to see how many points are in peanut butter...dang! Oh well, I had to have something.

Working from home today and hope to work out at lunch. Hubby and I are going to see Avengers Infinity War tonight. So, the plan is to keep the points for lunch small, because popcorn will likely be my dinner. I know, I should just say no, but I HAVE to have popcorn at the movies!

GettinFit - I have to admit that our camping isn't roughing it by any means. My 5th wheel has better fixtures and appliances than my home. We started out tent camping many years ago, and then slowly went from tent to pop-up, from pop-up to travel trailer...and now we have a 40 ft fifth wheeler. My mother says "That's not camping!" and I agree, but we go often enough and it's nice to be comfortable. Our recent cruise took us to Cozumel, Costa Maya, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. We love Norwegian because of the freestyle dining and I never hear about their ships in the news.

kfunk6113 - Hope you are having a great morning!

Weight today: 194.5

B - 1/2 cup small curd cottage cheese, hard boiled egg, low sodium V8 - 6 pts
L - 2 slice health nut bread, deli chicken meat with lettuce and pickles and spicy brown mustard, apple - 7 pts
D - Popcorn -??? All my weekly points

Excercise - Turbo Jam

Good morning ladies,

Boatingmommy: Well that's my kind of camping. I love the outdoors and that sounds like so much fun Go and enjoy your popcorn tonight. That's the good thing about WW, you can fit those treats in every now & then.

All is good with me and I'm plugging along. Yesterday was a pretty good day for me except because I hurt my knee I couldn't workout. It is doing much better so I may try an easy walk route today. I am finally excited about my weight loss again. Going shopping and trying on clothes really motivated me.

kfunk: I hope you're doing well and I hope you all have a great OP Tuesday!

Today's plan
B: Oikos Greek yogurt, 1 RF cheese stick, coffee, banana
L: Healthy Choice dinner, 3 Hershey Kisses
D: Watermelon, pineapple
S: WW Cheddar snacks,

boatingmommy It sounds like you had a lot of fun camping!! Boating all day on Saturday sounds amazing to me!!! Great job getting in good workouts while you were there! I super wish I would have worn my fitbit on Saturday, we walked so darn much that we were all pooped out trying to get to the car. I will check out that oatmeal! When I was counting calories I was having a double serving of regular Quaker Oats with brown sugar and cinnamon and it was delicious but it would be way too many points the way I like it! My friend found some refridgerated peanut butter from Trader Joe's that is 3 points for 2 tablespoons and only 1 point for 1 tbsp. Its called "Better'n Peanut Butter" its low sodium and very good, I can't tell the difference! Even though your peanut butter had some more points I think that it was a really good choice for a snack in that situation!! I hope that you enjoy the movie tonight!! Popcorn is my fav!!

gettnfit You did really well this weekend!! I love Mexican food, way to make your meal last! I hope that your knee feels better really soon

Yesterday: 16 points
B: coffee with my normal creamers = 2
scrambled eggs with spinach & salsa cooked with a little olive oil =2
strawberries, watermelon and cantelope mix = 0
L: eggs and 2 cups hashbrowns, = 8
ketchup =3
D: eggs with salsa (new salsa I picked up and its not free) =1
frozen grapes = 0

OMG, I must really love eggs! Pretty soon I am going to grow feathers.

Good morning ladies, I hope that you are having a great start to the day!

Yesterday was a bit odd for me food wise. I woke up and didn't feel well so I went back to bed to see if I could sleep it off. I didn't wake up until almost noon and because of that I wasn't hungry enough to eat a normal dinner.

Yesterday: 20 pts
B: scrambled eggs with salsa = 1
Coffee with normal prep = 2
2 pieces sara lee toast w/ peanut butter= 5
L: peanut butter cliff bar = 10
Coffee with normal prep= 2
D: frozen grapes =0

Good morning ladies! I am running late today. Didn't get much sleep due to crazy aging cat! Slept too long, now I have to run out the door!

kfunk - Hope you are feeling much better today! Maybe just a quick bug?

GettinFit - I know your knee is better soon! Take it easy on it.

Happy OP Wednesday to you both!
Weight - 194.5
B- 1/2 cup Cottage cheese, 1 Great Value Turkey Sausage patty -7 pts
L - 1 can (2cups) progresso light Zesty Southwestern-Style Vegetable soup, mini babybel light - 2 pts
