I got a new scale. The one I have been using is extremely fidgety. I would get on, FREAK OUT because I had "gained" 5 lbs. Get off, get on again and see that I "lost" 5 lbs. always just kinda messed with it, made sure it said "0" when I stepped on and took the number that seemed to pop up the most and said that was my weight. I knew it would be off...
I FINALLY got a new scale today. Made sure everything was good. Got on, and it added 6 LBS to my weight. I KNOW I gained a few from the holiday, but I also messed with the other scale and it said I gained 2 lbs... which isn't good, but it's different. I was hopping on both scales and the new one is definately at least 5 lbs higher than the old one.
SO! My weight is 160 (wearing clothes and after a meal... ... makes me feel a LITTLE better). I want to change my ticker... but I know I have lost 10 lbs for sure... changing to the new scale hurts my ego a little.
Should I change all my weigh ins by 5lbs? Or just this one and go along with losing only 4 lbs so far even though I KNOW I lost more than that?
I'll stick with the new weight for sure... I just don't know if I should add weight to the ticker for my "start" weight or just leave it alone?
I would be going with whatever scale your using..cause in the end the number really wont matter as much as the inches..cause you could lose a gazillion pounds..but it may not be fat..it may just be water..so you want your clothes to fit great.. so..who cares if the number is a little higher..
Holy crap, this is my biggest nightmare about using a scale that is not my own -- or needing to buy a new one! But, if it were me, I'd change all your weight stats except for the goal weight one. Still show off that 10 pound loss!! Way to go on that btw!
Thankfully you caught this error early on in the process. I'd hate to be close to goal or AT goal and realize I wasn't quite done losing weight yet!
I'd use the new number and just take the difference between your new scale and the old one (so I think you said it was 4lbs difference) and add that to your start weight. That way you still get more 'credit' for the pounds you've lost; I can relate to that and wanting to celebrate at certain numbers, so I think this will give you the best of both.
Kuri! Happened to me too. My old scale was showing different weight whenever I stepped on. So I got a new one. Nice because it shows the same weight everytime I step on BUT a had a big gain. I think the old one is 4 lbs "nicer" than the new one. Eventually I sucked it up and recorded a one week gain (with a little note that it is the new scale) to switch to the new one. Now I am dropping weight on the new one :-)
