Arrow Steel Magnolias #303

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

I am sorry when I posted last I didn't realize I was #15. So now that I have come to that relization here I am starting a new thread.

I hope everyone is having a good OP day. This is a 23 point day for me and I have all my points figrued out and am sticking between the lines. This is what it takes for me ~ TOTAL DETERMINATION along with keeping my FOCUS.

What do you use to keep your program going?

Good Morning

We had a busy weekend. Busy shopping a several stores to get all the OP foods I need for the week. Busy getting haircuts. Busy with laundry. And I have cleaned out one small corner of my kitchen. I am trying to look at this heavy duty cleaning the same way I do ww - one small corner at a time. If I look at the big picture, it's TOO much. There is so much I want/need to do in our house, I have put it off for too long.

Maggie - I saw what you said about cleaning drawers. I did one a couple of weeks ago like that. I put everything I don't need in a Goodwill bag. AND I am also FOCUSED and DETERMINED right there with you. What I use to keep program going?? - <deep thinking> - prayer - the enjoyment of feeling better - knowing that I am doing this for ME - new clothes - and the hope that some of the aches and pains will ease up and the blood pressure and cholesterol will go down!! Sometimes I talk to myself to keep me from having something I shouldn't have. And sometimes I have to pray for the strength to keep at it because I don't have it in me to do it alone.

I got kinda long-winded there. Guess I'm feeling philosophical this morning.

Bubbles - Yes, I liked being at the scales. I was very encouraged by most. And like you, I can't remember from one to the next how they did - except for the exceptionally good losses which is very encouraging to me.. You did great with just that small gain.

Gloria - 2# is wonderful.

I dug out my pedometer again. In ww last week, we talked about exercise. I have a VERY hard time making myself exercise. Have some emotional hangups left over from childhood (always last in the race if I finished, picked last at games, laughed at). My mom says I wasn't as bad as I remember, but I was never a skinny kid. Anyway, I seem to do better with gimmicks and numbers. So someone suggested like she does. Get a starting number with the pedometer and then each week try to up the number by some amount. So I am going to try that.

Well, I've gone on long enough I guess. Going to get busy here at work. Boss left something in fron of the computer for me to work on the morning.

Arrow Monday

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

What a beautiful day to be On Program. This is an 18 point day today and for lunch I do believe we will be going to MAGGIE'S for a burrito. Well those things are worth the points and knowing that before I have eaten anything I can manage to worki it in. Going to The Ojai and get our mail and Maggie's is on the Avenue on the way.

JOYCE your determination is certainly contageous. Never feel you are getting "long-winded" for you are very welcome to state it as you feel and I enjoy reading what you say so much. You are right to tackle that house a small bit at a time.

Have a wonderful Monday folks.

Good Morning Everyone

I am starting a grand OP day. Got it all planned out. Going to have lunch with my DS and 4 yr old gd. She is adorable. Always makes me feel good to chat with her.

Just thought I'd check in. I just got a call from DS in Alaska so I'm gonna talk to him awhile. Later..............

Thumbs down Tuesday

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

I had the most wonderful sandwich for breakfast I am still licking my lips. I hardly ever cook bacon anymore but it was such a treat this morning to have a BLT. I used one of those one point buns toasted and lots of lettuce and tomato and 3 slices of bacon. OOO it was worth every one of those 4 points. Life is good. I've not much planned for this day except making some cheese soup which is 3 POINTS a serving but worth it. Here is the recipe if you want to try it. It is great with a crusty piece of french bread and a large green salad as a meal.

CHEESE SOUP a la MAGGIE
Yield: 10 Cups ~ Serves 5
3 POINTS per 2 cup serving

2 pound bag frozen veggies - steamed
3 cans 99% fat free chicken broth
10 ounces Light Velveta Cheese cut in small pieces

Place broth in a large pot and heat
Place half of the steamed veggies in a blender along with the cheese and some of the liquid ~ puree ~ then place in pot with broth.
Put the remainder of the veggies in the blender with some liquid from the pot and puree - return to pot and heat thoroughly.

JOYCE what fun to have lunch with a child. Children are such a joy to be around. Nice to have a phone call from your son whay up North. Have a good OP day that you have planned.

Gonna go to town with the top down.

Hi Fleurs,
Mike just came in and said he may have set the privacy panel(?!) too high, which is why I couldn't post replies on 3FC. He adjusted it, and here I is

We had WW at our new location tonight, and it was a huge success.......except for the blowing snow. Not too many came out although we did have 4 new people. Anyway, I knew last week was a fluke, and I gained 3# this week. However, the good news is, I've been to the gym for the past two days, and they've worked my butt off. 30 min. of walking, then 45 or more of strength exercises on the machines yesterday. Today I walked then did the bicycle thing with my arms..........talk about boring! I'm going to start taking a book on tape with me to help pass the time on the treadmill. Also did abdominal crunches both days.....I thought I was doing well until I saw some guy doing them properly, and knew instantly I was in trouble.....he did 15 in the time it took me to probably do 3

Jean, your house and your animals sound perfectly normal to me. Jimmy got in the pantry and got into the cornstarch and sugar free orange jello yesterday.............tonight when I came in the bottle of Worcestershire was on the floor.........such a brat!

I now understand why people go to Florida.............I'm sick of being cold! A good friend leaves Sunday for a week in FL, then 3 weeks in the Bahamas at her time share...........it's a tough life, but somebody has to do it.

Finished the most recent Mitford book in the tub this afternoon when I returned from the gym. I was disappointed. I guess after having read so many, they're pretty predictable.

I'm taking my poor old body to bed!
Fondly,
Bubs

Arrow Humpday

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

It was just too funny, I have been wondering whre Jean was and then I found her all by herself over on another #303 thread and I invited her to come join us.

It is another beautiful day here in the neighborhood. I stayed up too late last night watching a movie and now I feel groggy. Got to get a move on and do something constructive.

BUBBLES you are certainly serious about exercise to go through that body abuse. My little walking program pales in comparison but I guess that is why they say not to compare ourself with anyone else.

Have a good Humpday friends in the patch.

It's a great motivated day even if I am tuckered out. Woke up about midnight with a cramp in my shin Then had a hard time getting back to sleep.

Bubbles - All that exercise. Awesome. You are sure motivating me to keep at it too.
I would like to be where it's warm too. Florida, Arizona. It's supposed to snow here this afternoon.

Maggie - What movie did you see? We've watched a couple lately that were okay. Signs, A Walk to Remember, Rookie. They just don't make movies the way they used to.

I'm glad you found Jean.

Back to work I go......

Hi JOYCE the movie we watched last was about Bill Tillmon called "You Know My Name" which starred Sam Elliot. Supposed to be a true story staged when cars were just appearing in the west ~ 1920's and he an aging lawman. Good movie.

So sorry to hear about your leg cramp. I hate that when it happens and lose sleep over it. Hope it is all better now.

Good Evening, Flowers!
We are finally getting some snow! We are right on the edge and according to the weatherman we should only get a "trace up to an inch." I've got news for him -- if it snows like this all night we will have several inches! A city, about an hour to the west of us, is supposed to get 4 to 6" so we'll see. I could use a late start tomorrow morning!

Maggie -- I saw this thread last night and was too lazy to move over after I posted. I did notice that we started #303 on the same day and about the same time if the time change makes any difference. My post was at 1:33 and yours was 5:58 but I don't know how fast the time part processes. Thanks for the recipe -- it sounds yummy!

Bubbles -- You are to be congratulated on your exercise efforts! I wish we had a gym to go to. I hate the exercise part of the program and I know that's the only way that I seem to consistently lose. I could kick myself for not getting back outside to walk since the weather has been so good. I just can't seem to pull it all together and I don't know what my problem is. I laugh every time you talk about Jimmy; I have a mental picture of a little kid, not a dog! Our daughter is dating a guy with a dog named Bob; we heard about Bob before we ever knew there was a guy in the picture too.

Joyce -- Have you ever visited www.flylady.com? It's supposed to help get a person organized but the number of emails they send will drive you buggy in the process. I have got to go through clothes again -- I am finding things I haven't worn for years and forgot I had. My DH says if I haven't worn it in a year to get rid of it. I guess maybe he has the right idea! It's just that I keep thinking I just might wear them again someday. I hope I will be more organized at some point before I'm too old to enjoy it!

Guess I will go read the papers and get ready for Thursday. This has been a slow, boring week at school and I am ready for the weekend!

Have a terrific Thursday, Flowers!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Arrow Weigh Day

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

It is another incredibally warm sunshine day. I am a happy camper for the Iron Minster said I am down 1.4 POUNDS which brings my total loss so far this year to 5.6 POUNDS. I do so hope this trend continues. My average intake of points this week turned out to be 26.2 because of a few overages.

JEAN welcome over here. I didn't even see your 303 when I started this thread or I wouldn't have started this one - sorry if I stepped on your toes . Do try that soup if you like cheese soup. It freezes well. I like to have some different types of soups in the freezer for a quick low point grab when things are in a hurry and it sure helps my program.

Maggie - Weigh to go!! That is so good. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!
I am going to check that movie out. I really like Sam Elliot esp in westerns. I really liked him in the Sackett movies taken from Louis L'Amour westerns.

I lost too. 0.4 Still have a few to go to lose that vacation weight. I'm not worried about it. I will get there. I averaged 26 points, too. But when I looked back, I ate 25-28 each day. I need to shake it up more. My range is 24-29. And I need to get the water in even on the weekends.

Jean - I will check out that flylady web site. Sounds interesting. I have gotten rid of all my old clothes that are too big except for a couple of things I keep as reminders. I need to work in my kitchen next. I just need the time to do all I want to. Guess I should retire, huh?

Work calleth...... Been busy today...........

Good Afternoon, Flowers!
It's sunny and cold here today -- 19 degrees as I type. We got enough snow to cover the ground and to shovel this morning. The plows didn't go out so the streets are kind of a mess. I guess they think it wasn't worth the effort but now it will refreeze in the tire tracks and be "slicker 'n snot" tomorrow morning!

Maggie -- My toes are fine. CONGRATULATIONS on another loss -- you are doing great! I need to go grocery shopping for everything and I've grown to just absolutely HATE that job . . . maybe because between two grocery stores, there are not alot of choices. When Super Wally World opens, that will just be a zoo! WM is a zoo now and it doesn't have much in the grocery line at all. Of course when that's the only place to shop, what can one expect?! *sigh* I saw in the paper where KMart is going to shut some more of their stores . . . "thank you WM!"

Joyce -- CONGRATULATIONS on your loss! Any loss is a GREAT loss especially after the holidays and being away from home. I think I need some time "home alone" to get into my sorting projects. It seems I get a good start and then get interrupted.

I have bell practice tonight and I think it is DH's night to cook so maybe we will eat out. I had bunny food for lunch and I am getting hungry!

Have a fantastic Friday -- I am ready for the weekend!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Arrow Afternoon

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

We didn't get much of the East Winds today but it surely was hot and breezy. But I am certainly not complaining for I love sunshine.

JOYCE for your loss! Going in the right direction is the key to getting there. My WW range is currently 28-33 but since I chose to go lower I am at 18-25. My days are so varied that on one day I get 35 points then 18 the next day but during the whole week I have an extra 13 points to eat whenever. Since I used them plus a few more sprinkled throughout this past week is how I got the the 26.2. If I just ate the strict program I would average 23.1 that is how I have those 13 floater points to ease the pain. My aim is to eat an average of 25 weekly.

JEAN I certainly do hope that the roads don't freeze and make it difficult for the early morning commuters. I did hear that also that K-Mart will be closing about 30 more stores. Those Super Wal-Marts are something. The food is good and reasonably priced. We don't have one of those near here but did when we lived in TN and did a lot of shopping there. You will love it!

Good morning one and all,
Youall have been on a roll in the weight dept...........congratulations! I'm hoping my 3# gain was from the scale being on carpeting instead of a tile floor. We'll see Tues.
Had to cancel last night's meeting at the hospital due to the weather............it started putting down the snow about 3:45. No one was going to hang around for a weigh in, and the leader lives at least 45 min. north of here in the best of times. Since it was a rollover night for the new folks, by cancelling, they can still rollover with no penalty.
Have I told youall how much I'm enjoying my bracelet? It really does keep me focused on my points. My only complaint is that the charm ring which connects it to the catch, gets caught on everything. It probably won't be a problem in warm weather, but when you wear sweaters or sweatshirts everyday it gets to be a pain.
Jean, if I had a scanner, I'd put up a picture of my brat dog James. He really is like a kid. Whenever the phone rings, he's right up in my face vying for my attention He's having a grand time in the snow........uses his nose as a plow.
Joyce, thanks for the exercise compliment, but it may be premature. After two days of walking, my knees were killing me, so I skipped Wed, then Thurs morning was a comedy of errors and I didn't get there yesterday, as I was volunteering at the theatre from 11--4. I'm determined to get down there today. I may take my bathing suit and give the water treadmill a try to see how that affects my old, achy joints. Everyone says it's absolutely wonderful.
Last night the plows were at it all night long. Today is the funeral of a prominent black member of the community who retired from the Greenbrier after 42 years of service, so there will be a load of people. I'm only 2 blocks from the middle of downtown, and a block from his church, so they've set up cones to keep the parking spaces open. He was in his late 80s, so most of the folks in attendance will not be what you call real agile, I don't imagine. He was really involved in many civic organizations, and a gentleman to his toenails. He just retired from the county commission a month ago! A fine example for us all, and loved by all who knew him.
I may have told youall I've put my checking acct. online.........it's making me crazy! I'm going to give it six months. I thought with my bills being paid online I should have no trouble keeping an accurate balance in my acct...............wrong! One of these days........it may all come together, if I live long enough.
I need to get my butt in gear and get to the gym. Have a great weekend one and all.
