  • Kathy, your house is always so full of activity. I'm guessing you and Judd won't know what to do with yourselves once the kids are all moved out and shipped out! I'm glad you got sleep but sorry that you wake up in pain. That must be very unpleasant. So you are able to get up to make your own egg? Don't do too much. My fingers are crossed that Shaun has your card and didn't do too much damage on it.

Yay! The pickup crew will be here at 2:00. I'm sending it to a place called Quality Used Furniture. They display and sell it. Then they get 50% and we get 50% of what they sell it for. It's WAY better than what we would get for it in the little local paper or a garage sale, and we don't have to have strangers traipsing through our home to look at it. I'm hoping we get a couple of hundred dollars for it. Whatever we get will go towards paying off the new TV sooner. As it stands, I'll be paying on the new TV for about 11 months. At least it's interest free!

I'm off to watch some TV and to start thinking about what is for lunch.
  • Thanks for the encouragement. I spoke to WW this morning and am getting my official status next week. I have a huge binder and will just have to look in it if there's something I don't understand.

Vickie, glad to hear they're coming soon. That's good about the selling of the old unit. I don't like garage sales either, and wind up giving my used stuff to Goodwill.

Kathy, it's good that you are able to be up a little. Of course you know not to overdo it. Did you give Shaun the message? Is there a chance he'll be going sooner rather than later?

Gotta share, I had my Dr. Praeger last night. It was really tasty. I was very impressed. I'm going to do up a concoction with hummus and avacado for a topping next time. The California is a keeper.

Okay, off to physio now, bbl...
  • I got up and yelled at him but got no answer, so since I can't go upstairs I'll just have to wait until someone comes down here. I just need to know my card is safe! And am really wondering which of them came in at 6:45 this morning.

I have some lean ham slices (I think the package says 98%FF so I'm considering that to be lean) that I'm thawing now. Hopefully I can get someone to cut up a piece after it's thawed and make me an omelet or scrambled egg with ham in there. I guess it'll actually be lunch. My main thing that I need right now is water so I can take some medicine.

Vickie, I'm glad you got it all worked out with the entertainment center. That sounds like a good place to send it.

Shaun told me he has to pass that physical part before he can go early, but as soon as he does, and if something opens up, then he can go. He has to run 1-1/2 mile in a certain amount of time. He's been working on getting the time down.

    I really need some water...
  • Well, Kate checked in before going to work and I asked if she had gotten home at 6:45 this morning. She said I don't want to tell you about it. Of course that just alerted me big-time, so I made her. Seems as though Shaun was walking home from somebody's house last night, got arrested, taken to jail for some outstanding warrant that's 3-4 years old. She went to get him out and had to pay the bail of $200. She does NOT have the money to spare. I can't give it back to her right now either. His knee is swollen and leg is scraped up because he had jumped a fence and fell, a policeman saw it and stopped him, then found out about the warrant, etc. I don't know what this is going to do to his Navy situation but he's already talked to the Chief this morning.

I tell you what, I can't take much more of this. If he had called me, I would have left him in jail. I can't believe Kate went and got him. She worked until midnight, then got to the jail at 7:00, paid the ticket, then had to sit there until 9:30 when they released him. Came home and went back to bed, and just now she left for work and will be there until midnight. Those girls don't need this crap either, and I swear I don't know what else to do. I am beside myself right now.
  • Oh kathy - you certainly don't need this now (not that you ever do) - I can't believe how unlucky Shaun is! And your daughter was very responsible in going to get him out! I sure hope he appreciates it. The sooner he ships out the better (and I don't think I would have given him my debit card at all!).

Hope you got your water and food and can relax a bit despite the ongoing excitement and stress!

Vickie - I like you am a bit of a control freak so would have planned carefully the timing of delivery/pickup of furniture and would have been quite upset if my intricate plans did not work out! Oh well - at least it's happening - altho not according to schedule.

Saundra - I too would have been up worrying - I agree this is a good sign and means you want to do a great job and we all know you will.

Here is the link to the russian jazz bar place - looks pretty cool: www.avantgardebar.com

Melissa - you must be so excited! How wonderful to finally have your own home (altho there is nothing I hate more than moving and packing). Good luck with the rest of the paperwork.

I am feeling lousy/crappy today and I am AT HOME! Yes it's TOM Migraine Headache Day. I am on a new bc pill which I am trying out and if all goes well i will be taking it continuously for 3 months at a time (meeaning I would only get TOM 4 times per year) which will cut down on the headache situation. Otherwise I have warned dh a vasectomay may be in his future!

Woke up at 4:48 am with severe excruciating pain and stumbled into the bathroom to get some advil. Took a while to kick in - I lay there trying to relax and get a grip on myself - I swear I was thinking of you kathy - that you must be in so much more pain than I am - and here I am such a wuss almost crying cuz I have a headache and can't sleep!

Of course getting up this morning was an issue....dh let me sleep and it was after 8 am when I attempted to get up. Head feeling mostly better but still a background thumping going on and I was very slow moving. Finally decided it was not worth it to be a martyr and go in and suffer all day so I called in sick, went back to bed and slept til noon.

Feeling groggy and had some 'brunch" (scrambled eggs, toast, sliced tomato, earl grey tea) which made me feel a bit better. Cleaned up our desk a bit and paid some bills. Probably just relax and read my library book some more.

And the BRACES ARE OFF - we can see white teeth. Dd is thrilled and keeps telling us how weird it feels (like slimy slippery snakes in my mouth) - and how when she eats or drinks now the sensations are so unusual. We were done at 3 pm and showed up at home to find cleaning lady's car in driveway (I actually thought she had bailed on us when she did not show but guess we were the afternoon cleaning?).

So instead of going home dd suggested we go shopping at the mall! (what an unusual suggestion ha ha ha). So off we went - had a nice time (of course she does very well when one is spending $$ on her). Got her two new pairs of sunglasses (big, big white ones and black ones), a striped black and white t-shirt, and some new undies (hello kitty and polka dotted ones - says they would make her smile when she goes to the washroom! ).

Had an ice cream cone snack and headed home around 5:30 pm to a clean house!

Oh ya and I must have missed the Amazing Race? I am so disappointed - went downstairs at 10 pm all prepped to watch and kids are watching something else and tell me it's not on now - was on earlier and I MISSED IT! Oh well.

    Frouf
  • hi, chickies. curtis and i just finished lunch. i am sooooo excited about going to ww tomorrow. it will be like a reunion of sorts.

kathy, that's funny about the fig newtons. i hope you get some more soon. curtis is going to hollywood videos to get the weather man. should be good.

vickie, i'm glad you and jim are in such good spirits. curtis is planning to take me in the am to ww if my friend backs out. she told me she might go on saturday instead of friday. i need to have a "set" day so i'll stick to it.

saundra, i still haven't taken any tylenol. i took a regular pain pill yesterday and i took another a few minutes ago. i'm going to do some shooting downstairs this afternoon. the doctor looked at me yesterday and said, "you can shoot." he could tell i was going through withdrawal. thanks for the tip about the dr. praegers.

frouf, i hope you're feeling better. has your doctor talked to you about getting a hysterectomy? just wondering.
  • Yay for slippery snakes in the mouth! What a crazy description, but I think I remember 100 years ago when i got my braces off and how strange it felt for a while.

I'm sorry you're feeling rotten today -- of course, I'm not surprised though because this is just the way we all are! I don't think I can remember a time when everyone was well all at the same time! I've heard of that new bc pill and hope it works. Otherwise, yes I'd also be making Mr. Frouf an appointment with Dr. Snip. LOL!

Shaun didn't even get the haircut (Him: Duh ... I don't know why I just didn't. I need one though. Me: Yes you do, which is why you left yesterday headed to the haircut place specifically to GET a haircut!). I absolutely don't understand him but maybe that's a blessing. I hope this is nothing more than the equivalent of getting and paying a ticket, because if so it shouldn't affect the Navy thing. He told the Chief that his leg was messed up and so he won't be able to do the IFA tomorrow morning. I'm sure Chief is starting to get a little irritated with him, but if so ... welcome to my world, Chief.

I called Kate (she's still driving to work) and thanked her again for being such a good girl, a good sister and a hard worker. I also told her if Shaun doesn't get to go to the Navy, I'm sending him to live with her and Devan. Just kidding, of course, but I sure would like to send him somewhere!
  • Sandra, I really need to stop obsessing over the Fig Newtons. Erin didn't get them last night (she should be grounded!) and before Kate left, she said to call her if I needed her to get me anything on the way home. I mentioned the Fig Newtons but then told her nevermind, I didn't need them.

Speaking of pain medicine, I have TWO more pills. There isn't a refill but I'm sure if I call it in, they'll call the doctor and hopefully a refill would be approved. I should do that now so Judd can pick it up tonight. I know I'm still going to need them at least at night. I really should start trying to get back in a routine of sorts; I know I can't go from completely bedridden to straight back to work with no transition. Maybe this weekend I can get up and do a few things.
  • kathy, just make sure you don't overdo it. your body needs to rest so it can heal itself.
  • We're still waiting for the pickup guys. First they said 2:00, then 3:00, now it's 4:00. I told them they have to come at 4:00 because we have plans later. It's sort of true but it's only dinner so we really could wait.

    I'll be back.
  • Oh, how frustrating! I hate waiting for delivery or service guys. It's like you have to put your whole day on hold. Oh well, I'd probably be frustrated at the schedule changes if I were them too!

I'm hosting a church ladies' group at my house today. I'm happy, because it forced me to clean house. My floor looks great now. It's a little daunting to clean my floors, because they're hardwood, and quite big. My whole main floor is basically one very large room, so to clean the floor, it takes a LONG time. But I did it, and it looks great.

I'm getting a veggie tray for snacks. None of these ladies will care if that's all we have, and I'm desperately trying to get back to Core eating. And since it's at MY house, I get to say what we're having, right?

It's a rainy day here, but that's fine. Better for the garden. The grass is getting SO green, it's wonderful. And in a few weeks, the trees will be blossomed, and it will be lovely.

    Later ladies,
    Angela
  • Hey Chicks! I'm waiting for Jim to get off the phone so we can go to dinner. They came to pick up our stuff and they're gone. Yay! The family room looks nekkid. It's a 20 foot wall that used to have a 10 foot entertainment center on it. Funny.

We're going to the Texas Roadhouse for dinner. I'll be having pork chops. I think I'll go do my menu.

    Angela, how's your wrist?

Kath, of course you don't NEED the fig newtons but geez have a couple if you want them. You've barely eaten anything in the last week. That's terrible about Shaun and SO sweet of Kate. She does seem like a great girl. Shaun just seems determined to mess up his life! I hope you get those pain pills. With what happened to you, you should not be without them.

Frouf, I hope you feel better soon and really I hope that the new pill works for you. I wouldn't mind only having 4 periods a year.

Sandra, you sound GREAT! I hope you keep improving.

Jim just hollered. I'll be back!
  • Wow, lots happening in one day....

Kathy, of all the vices in the world, fig newtons can't hurt. At least they're good for you. I sure hope this incident doesn't screw up Shaun's future. It's so hard to be a mom. We have to let go and make our kids responsible for their actions. Thank goodness that Kate has shown what a good girl she is.

Yay Sandra, you sound so excited about tomorrow. Are you staying for orientation? I find that it can help to get re'enthusiastic.

Frouf, my older sis had awful PMS and now so does one of her daughters. I sure hope that the new pill will help. My niece has had her periods screwed up (only 38), and doesn't mind it when she misses six months at a time. Thank goodness your house is clean, one less thing to worry about.

Vickie, have a good dinner out. Glad your day ended fine, and all was taken care of.

Angela, have a fun social. I agree, your house, your snacks. I love my hardwood floors, but I must admit, I just use the Swiffer on them.

Physio went fine. I mentioned the pain and she said it was to be expected. She really worked on it a lot tday, and right now it isn't too bad. There were two gals there who had foot sergery with screws. I didnt' ask if was a golf cart accident.

I then went to WW and watched the end of day procedure. It was done pretty quickly, so I'm going back tomorrow.

Okay, time to mush my avacado and hummus. I'm looking forward to the Dr. Praeger again.
  • Do those Dr. Praeger burgers have textured vegetable protein as an ingredient? That's just code for soy protein. I'm very sensitive to soy, and probably wouldn't enjoy them very much if that's what they have. Vickie, your reaction the other day sounds JUST like how I react to soy protein, or canola oil. If I were you, I'd avoid the burgers.

I still have to go get my veggies; then I'll be ready.

    Angela
  • Hmm ... that makes a lot of sense. Here's the list of ingredients for the California burger:

Carrots, onions, string beans, zucchini, oat bran, fresh soy beans, sprouts, peas, corn, spinach, broccoli, chickpeas, soy, red pepper, arrowroot, corn meal, fresh garlic, soy flake, salt, parsley, black pepper, and canola oil

    Is this it?

I wish I could find that brand here, because they have a good looking pizza bagel.
