Frouf From Toronto

Hi guys,

Just checking in from Toronto - but not much time to read all the posts and catch up!

Kathy - glad you are keeping yourself busy with movies and I sure hope you are being well taken care of!

Melissa - BIG CONGRATS on the house - it is adorable and I know you and Aaron will be very happy there - the yard is amazing!

Vickie - you must be exhausted with all that shopping? Hope the heel spurs are not too painful.

Sandra - I am so glad to see you 'back' - glad the surgery went well and you are home recuperating.

We got here last night - drive was excellent except for last hour of big rain and lots of traffic - but we made it.

Had a very late dinner - (chicken and goat cheese pizza - yummy bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar and a 'float' of martinis - four 2 oz different flavored tiny martinis to try - very cute and yummy). Went to bed around 10:30 but had a hard time falling asleep.

We got a room w/2 doubles and while ds slept fine - dh and I were up half the night hanging on the side of the bed cuz we felt like we were going to fall off - bed was so small! So we were up from about 2:30 til 4 am!

Of course ds wakes up all bright and chipper and the parents look like death warmed over! I got up took ds for breakfast (Tim horton's) then swimming at indoor pool so dh could sleep.

Then did the smartest thing and went to the front desk and SWITCHED ROOMS to a king bed and sleeper sofa - got one just down the hall from where we were so 'moving' was not a big deal.

Tried to nap this afternoon but not that successful. Ended up going to see ice age 2 with ds and dh (very gloomy cold and gray day here) and now at gf's house as party begins. Awaiting chinese food altho I am not hungry due to major popcorn consumption.

Anyhow - that's the news. Sure hope we sleep better tonight - altho losing ONE MORE HOUR OF PRECIOUS SLEEP is not good.

Hope all are having a nice weekend!

Frouf

Hey Chicks! I'm just back from dinner. I had a field greens salad with balsamic vinagrette, a yummy steak, fresh green beans, and ww pasta with marinara. I actually ate until just satisfied and brought home alot of steak which Jim will eat tomorrow.

We got all our errands done and only ended up with rainchecks for Tab. Did I ever tell you all that Jim drinks only Tab and has for many many years. He doesn't drink coffee or tea. He drinks Tab from the moment he wakes up in the morning until the time he goes to bed. He has milk on his cereal and once in a blue moon with dessert. He drinks a 32 ounce glass of water overnight and that's it. I gave up trying to get him to drink more healthy. He gave up the alcohol when he was diagnosed with diabetes so I'm happy about that. Anywhooooo......we are always running around trying to buy Tab on sale. We can only get it in 12 packs here and there was a sale through today for $1.97. We normally pay between $2.50 and $3.50 so we wanted to stock up. He probably drinks about 4 12 packs a week.

Kathy, I hope you like your birkies. If they seem to stiff when you get them, they tell you to actually flex them up and down to soften them up a bit. They do take some getting used to. Once you break them in, you won't want to take them off. I love my new demin colored ones. As MIL's go, yours sounds like a keeper. That was very thoughtful of her. Can/will Judd cook? It would probably be very welcome if you could have a good meal. Shame on me for opening my whole post talking about my scrumptious dinner when you haven't had anything great.

Frouf, I hope you get some better rest tonight because there is nothing worse than bad sleep. No way could Jim and I have slept in a double bed. It's great that the hotel was able to accomodate your move. Have a great time at the party. It's so cool that you check in with us while you're out of town.

Ohhhh, poor Sandra! Can you get another pain ball? I'd be calling the Doctor's service and begging for one. Do you have anything else prescription that you can take in the meantime. I'm feeling so sorry for you and Kathy.

I'm off to read Melissa and Kathy's posts about pictures to see if I can get it to work. I would probably only use my own pictures, so it wouldn't be a copyright issue. I'll try to be careful to keep us from getting into trouble.

Kathy, that's so nice of your MIL to bring over the groceries. Now if you can just get someone to cook it and bring it to you! I think you'll love the shoes. I've never had any but I've always thought they would be great to have.

Vickie, your dinner sounds amazing. I can't believe Jim drinks so much Tab!! I would feel sick if I drank that much soda. But I guess it just depends on what you get used to. That's a great price though.

Frouf, it sounds like you are having a really fun weekend, despite the sleeping problems! Glad you got to check in!

Sandra, I'm so sorry that you are starting to hurt more. I hope that you are resting and enjoying your company tonight.

We just got back from a walk, probably about 1.5 miles or so. It has been beautiful here tonight. It was really relaxing and exercise at the same time! I'm still full of energy/anxiety/something because I just want to pack up and move out. But there's lots to do, so I'll just try to channel my energy!

I'm here for a few minutes before going to sleep. Pain is back with a vengeance. Judd and his friend called after golf and wanted to get me out of the house, so they took me to a Chinese buffet. Buffet! Fortunately Judd knows what sorts of things I like so he brought me a plate of chicken and broccoli, but I wasn't hungry so ate like maybe two bites? I felt nauseated the whole time we were there, but part of it was that I was starting to hurt again. We left and took the friend home, then I got back into bed when we got home. I just finished icing my ankle and put the boot back on. I'm hoping that tomorrow is better but it'll be another day alone except for Shaun, which is pretty much like being alone. Poor guy.

I hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.

septembersgoal 04-02-2006 07:22 AM

Morning everyone! I sent Aaron ahead to church because my clothes aren't quite dry yet and Murphy's stomach is making these crazy gurgling noises like nothing I've ever heard. I'm going to iron my clothes, walk Murph, and then go to church later. I'm hoping Murphy is okay, his stomach is making such loud noises but he doesn't act like he feels bad.

Kathy, I'm so sorry to hear that your pain has gotten worse. Maybe that means it is getting better?

Vickie 04-02-2006 08:31 AM

Good Morning Chicks! I've got a busy day so I won't be around much. I've got to be ready to leave by 11:45 and somehow get lunch in before then. Our play is at 2:00 and I think it lasts 4 hours. Then we'll have dinner afterwards at a great steak place. http://www.wildfirerestaurant.com/ I haven't decided what I'm going to eat for sure yet. I'm packing a cooler to leave in the car with my FF sour cream and my ICBINB light. Jim was making ice for the cooler all day yesterday. The Niece is going to be ordering the chocolate pie which is supposed to be fabulous. I'm going to have a bite or two!

Geez, Kathy, I can't believe you went out! You went from stranded in the bed and aren't supposed to go anywhere to going to the Chinese buffet! I sure hope you didn't hurt yourself. I'm very sorry to hear that the pain is back with a vengenance. It truly sounds horrible. I hope by now you are resting more comfortably and that the pain medicine is working again. Take it easy today.

Sandra, same for you! I hope you got some more pain medicine and that you too are resting comfortably.

Melissa, whoa! I'm used to being the only one up early here. I hope by now you've gone to church and poor Murphy's tummy has calmed down. Maybe he ate something icky outside? Or....maybe his tummy is nervous about the move!

Well, I gotta go since I left the laundering of what I want to wear today until this morning. So I have a lot to do. I'm guessing that I won't be back until tomorrow. Tomorrow is when we find out the results of Jim's tongue biopsy. I'm nervous.

Vickie 04-02-2006 08:44 AM

Oh Yeah, and weigh in is tomorrow morning. I can't stay for my meeting because Jim's appointment is at 10:45. I'm not sure I'm going to want to weigh in after having a heavy meal at 7:00 tonight. We'll see. I may just skip it until next week. I don't do it very often.

sauniemay 04-02-2006 09:04 AM

Hi all, it's a sunny morning here. I got up at 8:00 (new time) and offered to make breakfast for Bern. He accepted and now we're finished. It's going to be nice today, and then downhill from there, possibility of snow by Tuesday or Wednesday. That' tough when you wear sandles one day and then back to boots.

Frouf, you should have a good ride home today and with the longer light it makes it so much better. Hope the weekend was fun.

Sandra, so sorry to hear that you're hurting. Is another pain ball an option. I bet your having a good visit with little one . Our kids have a way of making us forget about some things.

Vickie, have a really good day. I'm looking forward to hearing your reviews on the play. I know tomorrow is scarry, but take today and enjoy. I hear that the Sox are having their opener today. Now, every time I hear about the White Sox I think about you and Jim.

Melissa, any plans after church? Have you written your "to do" list yet? It's so much better to get organized. It helps cut down the stressful times. My ds sold his business in Kitchener (about 300 miles away). They are now going to put up their house for sale and try to find one here. They want to be here by July. We are so excited, but I know that they have so much on their plate, as well as Brayden who will be two in May. I'm sending them listings as I find ones that might apeal to them. Hopefully, they'll be coming Easter weekend for a peak.

Kathy, I know that Judd had good intentions, but at this point in time, bed is the best place for you. Heck, I just had a bad twisted foot, and know how painfull that was. You just lie there with foot propped up. Hear me woman!
Take advantage of the dvd's and make sure that you are well stocked for the day.:)

Yesterday I brought five pairs of capris to the seamstress. It sounds pretty reasonable, about $60.00 to taper. Hopefully they turn out okay and the charge doesn't sky rocket. Then, in the afternoon we went to the mall to look for pants for Bernie. It was Bay Day (major dept store), and he got four nice pair. I said lets look at ladies and wound up with three great dressy tops, nicer than T's, but still good with jeans and capris. We went to a dinner jazz club last night and I wore my new black pants and new top, felt good.

We're going to try some spring closet cleaning today and maybe see the kids. Tonight it's dinner out with old (actually young) work buddy and his wife.

Have a good one,

Vickie 04-02-2006 09:18 AM

Saundra, you sound chipper and happy! The Sox do have their opener today. It was supposed to be tomorrow but they changed it about three months ago. Jim would not have wanted to go see Wicked today if he had known that the Opener was today. So we'll DVR it and watch it when we get home or tomorrow after the appointment. I believe everything will be ok but until we actually hear it from the Doctor, I'll be a little nervous. You sound like you got some terrific (and cute!) deals yesterday. I need to go through my closet too. Mostly, I need to get rid of stuff from my Fall/Winter closet that I killed this year.

I had such a wonderful surprise today. Jim and I don't exchange birthday gifts anymore. We buy beautiful cards and go out for a fancy meal on the day. We also go once to the gambling boats in May because both of our birthdays are in May. This year, though, I'll be 50 so he wanted to buy me a little something anyway. He gave it to me today because he thought I'd like to wear it to the play.....and he's right. You all know I'm a QVC girl. I love Diamonique. I've had it for years and it never gets cloudy, I treat it just like diamonds (including throwing it in solution), and it's prettier than any diamonds I can afford. I also love their epiphany line which is platinum over sterling. It looks like the real thing and so far hasn't tarnished or dulled. I have a pair of earrings that I wear every day. Anyway.....here's the bracelet he gave me. Too bad the picture does not do it justice.

That is wonderful Vickie, you must be so thrilled. Bernie is like that too, loves to give gifts early. I'm in May to, when is yours? I also have a diamonelle bracelet from our Shopping Channel. It is white gold. I looked, but can't find a picture. The stones are little squares and rectangles, I don't know what cut that is. I love it a wear it all the time. Have fun showing it off today.

aghiowa 04-02-2006 11:46 AM

Oh Vickie, what a pretty bracelet! I'm not much of a jewelry girl, but even I would love receiving something like that. :)

Melissa, I hope Murph's tummy settled down and that you got off to church OK.

Sandra, don't push it...try to relax and let your body heal up. Same to you Kathy. :D

Now that I'm done with my pushy mom advice, I'll shut up. It's raining here today, and everything is turning green. The trees are starting to bud, and my allergies are letting me know it.

Little dd was outgrowing her high chair, so yesterday I got something really cute at Target. It was a little pricey, but she loves it and so do I. Here it is:
http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B0002WRRX4

Plus it can double as a stepstool, so that's cool. My mom had one just like it when she was a child. She's laughing that the things she remembers are now labeled "vintage." :)

Later,
Angela

sauniemay 04-02-2006 01:05 PM

Chair looks cute Angela. How old is dd? Our gs is still in booster. It's nice that you guys have spring. Our tress usually bud in May, can't wait.:)

Katpo 04-02-2006 01:41 PM

Angela, we had stools like that when I was a kid. One of my favorite memories is sitting on it at the corner of the table while my parents played "42" with friends or relatives.

That's a nice bracelet, Vickie. My jewelry is also platinum because I don't care for yellow gold. We tried white but it just didn't have the same look. Judd has always wanted me to have a bracelet like that but won't go for the Diamonique although I like it just fine. What if I lost it?

He made me some oatmeal this morning, regular instant. It's not good but I'm not hungry. MIL brought some sweet potatoes too so I might have someone bake one later for lunch. Judd will also be grilling some of that meat that she brought and hopefully can steam some snowpeas. He just left to go play golf.

I'm going crazy in this bed but I guess I'll stay here at least until we go to the doctor tomorrow.

sauniemay 04-02-2006 05:40 PM

Hi Kathy, how's it going? Are you feeling any less pain now? I hope you are relaxing.

Sandra, you too, are you feeling better?

It's sunny and cool here. Dd just called from LasVegas and said it's only high 60's there. He's hoping for 80's tomorrow. He and friend are going on helicopter ride on Grand Canyon.

Out for dinner soon, hope all are well.
