Saundra, I feel better when I take off the boot because I swear it's digging into the sides of my foot, however I'm not allowed to take it off except to ice it a few times a day. Thanks for asking.
According to the news, it's a nice day here (currently 92 degrees and sunny) and tomorrow will be even better for the ballgame. I'm still very upset that I can't go. I can't remember when I've missed an opening day. :( Enjoy your dinner! |
Hi all! I did finally get off to church and Murphy seems to be fine. I think grass must be nature's pepto. I think his stomach was just upset and he ate some grass and feel better.
It's been beautiful here today but now it is storming and there are tornado warnings all around us too. Vickie, that bracelet is beautiful!!! I love it. I hope that you are having a great time at the play! Kathy, I'm so sorry that you are going stir-crazy. I can imagine how frustrating it is--when I had back surgery I basically had to lay in bed for four weeks. Not fun at all. Make a list of things that would be fun like movies, crossword puzzles, etc and send Judd to the store. :) Saundra, thanks for the idea. I think I do need to make a list, it will help. I appreciate it! I am usually the queen of lists but I haven't made one yet. I hope that you've had an enjoyable day. Well I'm off here to finish up some laundry, etc. Plus I really need to read for class, but that's not fun. ;) |
Hi Everyone
Tried to get on here last night. But wouldnt let me. Was going through the post. And then all at once it said "ilegal operation". And I couldnt do anything. Just tried a few minutes ago. And wouldnt let me get on here. So will try now. Sure hope my neighbor can get to work on this thing. I hope everyone is doing ok. And that all is on the mend. Wont post too much. Afraid it wont go through. But wanted you all to know. That I was thinking of all of you. I hope everyone has had a great day. Hubby has had a really bad day. Has a Dr's appt this week. Am so glad. Well try and post this. Know that I am thinking of all of you. Have a great evening. coco |
hi, chickies. i have been asleep almost all day. i am taking pain pills and they are knocking me out. other than sleeping--i'm bored. kathy, you must be bored, too.
i'm on the old puter. the new one got zapped by lightning yesterday. what next? it looks like we lost about everything. i'll have to contact isp tomorrow to get it reloaded for the net and email. life goes on. frouf, sounds like you're having a fun weekend. vickie, my foot is mainly having discomfort not a lot of pain. it's not too bad. i'm going to see about going in to see the doctor tomorrow to get my bandage changed. melissa, i feel your excitement. kathy, i am surprised you went out yesterday. you be careful. vickie, i'm rejoining ww this friday. hold me to that, please. don't let me back out. saundra, sounds like you're having a fun weekend. vickie, your bday gift sounds fabulous. you're a lucky lady. angela, what a cute chair!! thanks for sharing. coco, i hope dh is feeling better. i'm glad he has a doctor's appt this week, too. |
Coco, I'm sorry to hear that you are still having trouble and that DH had a bad day today. Please let us know what the doctor says.
Sandra, I am excited, that's for sure. :D I'm glad that your pain isn't too bad. Sleeping is probably the best thing for recovery, don't you think? Congrats on going back to WW. Maybe one of these days I'll actually attend a meeting. I'm trying something new this month, actually it's an idea I'm stealing from Carrie. I'm making an exercise ticker for April. I know that exercise is the missing link for me, so I'm going to try to work on it. |
Melissa, that's a great idea to have an exercise ticker!
I'm at 151 right now but apparently, pain medicine makes you gain and retain, and my swollen tissues are also causing some of the gain. I'm going to try and eliminate the starches and carbs this week and see if that will help a bit. We have a whole lot of lean meats, vegetables and fruits that MIL brought over; there's no sense in letting them go to waste. I decided that after I get home from the doctor tomorrow, I'm going to try and get back into as much of a normal routine as possible. I'll start back cleaning and cooking and if I get tired, I'll stop but this lying in bed is really making me soft. If I don't get a handle on this here in the beginning of the recuperation, I'll end up like I did three years ago when I got so big. I refuse to fall into the trap of "poor little me, I deserve this cookie". Now is the time to take firm action. |
Kathy I think it's great that you are going to stop from wallowing in pity--I would be drowning in cookies by now if I were you. But be careful moving around, especially cleaning and stuff. You don't want to push yourself too hard!! But of course only you know how far is too far. I'm sure the extra weight is just due to your body reaction to all of the stress!
I hope you get lots of rest tonight! I think I'm going to be up for a long time. There is a big line of storms that will pass through here around midnight I think, and I am petrified of tornadoes. |
Just a quick good evening to all. We had dinner about 45 minutes from home in a country town, and it was nice. I had salad and fillet mignon. It was good and a little expensive.
Coco, good luck with dh's dr's appt. I hope you get things sorted out. Melissa, I hope you feel safe. Just put your covers over your head. That's what I did when I was a kid in Windsor, where there were tornado watches all the time. Kathy, before you tear your house apart, please check with the doctor as to activity. I'd think that you should be taking it easy for a little while longer. Don't worry about the weight, but I do agree, watch what you eat. You've worked hard for the loss, so just talk to yourself and don't do anything that you'll regret down the road. Usually, when I am with certain people (the guy we had dinner with tonight), I can drink more wine than I'd like to admit to. Tonight, I had one and a half glasses, which for me is very good;) . So, it can be done. Sandra, glad the pain isn't too bad. I agree, lots of rest is so good for you. Good luck with doctor's visit. Gee, I start physio on Tuesday, I do hope we'll all be mended soon. Okay, time to retire, |
I'm going to ask the doctor about activity, so that's why I'm waiting until after the appointment before I start trying. I did get up and get my own ice pack earlier and worked with a resistance band on some arm and shoulder exercises. I just can't allow myself to slip any, or it'll be all over. I sure don't want to weigh 175 again, that's for sure!!
I decided to wear a Rangers shirt to the doctor tomorrow. It'll make me feel a little better about missing the game. |
I had forgotten about your previous experience with gaining weight after being injured/sick (I can't remember which it was). So it's totally understandable that you are worried about it now. I'm sorry that you don't get to go to the game tomorrow. Hopefully you can still enjoy it from home.
Saundra, it sounds like you had a very nice dinner. I've actually waited out the storm and now I'm headed to bed. Good night all. I'm going to be very tired in the morning. Forgot to mention that the car is making a crazy noise so we'll have to either take it into the shop in the morning or Aaron will have to drive me to work. It sounds like it could just fall apart at any moment, something very weird is going on. Good night. |
Morning Everyone
Well the sun is trying to shine. But I guess later on we have a chance of a thunderstorm. And then maybe snow flurries tomorrow. That is awful about all the tornado's. Hubby is feeling a little better this morn. So that is good. Hope it continues today. Well not sure about weigh in tonight. Will see how hubby is. If he isnt feeling well. I dont want to leave him alone. So I am just making him rest all day. This is weird. I got on here. And it already had me logged in. So dont know how or why that happened. So will see if this goes through. I am thinking of everyone. And thanks to everyone who asked about hubby. you probably get tried of hearing he isnt feeling good. But here lately he has been having more bad days than good. Hopefully the nice weather will make everyone feel better. You know it wont be long and the grass will have to be cut. In fact in a few spots in the yard it could be mowed now. YUCK!! Well I hope everyone has a great day. Know that I am thinking of each of you. Will check in tonight and let you know about weigh in. That is if I get to go and I can get on here. Have a Wonderful CORE day. coco |
Good morning all! I hope the doctor gives you the green light for some more activity Kathy, but I also caution against doing too much. You don't want reinjure yourself.
Melissa, we also had storms with a tornado watch yesterday. I'm also scared of them...I regularly have bad dreams involving tornadoes. Actually, the last tornado to come really close to us happened on my due date with dd #3. It knocked out power to much of the city for the next several days! It certainly kept me entertained while I waited to go in to labor...doing dishes by hand, trying to keep all our food from spoiling, etc. Finally, one evening our power came back on, and the next day, she was born. I was having contractions pretty uncomfortably that evening the power came back on, but I still dragged myself out to the grocery store, so that we'd have food! :) It looks like yet more rain today, which is great. It's been pretty dry here. Daylight savings is messing up our schedule big time, so I'd better get going. Later! Angela |
Good Morning Chicks! I got home very very late. We left at noon and got home around 9:15. We had the dog walkers come in at 4:00 but Cassie had peed on the rug some time after they left. There were bad storms here with lots of lightening and thunder. Cassie and Saundra would have been under the blankie together. I'm sure Cassie was frantic that we weren't here to make her feel better and then just decided she couldn't hold it any longer. Sheesh...couldn't she have peed on the throw rug?!
So I cleaned that up the best I could last night and then we watched all the pre-game Sox stuff that we had taped. They were in a rain delay. Ultimately they played....and WON! Jim has been up since 4:00 and we went to bed at 11:15. He's going to be really tired later when we have to babysit. ****...I'm going to be tired and I slept until 7:00! I'm kind of sick to my stomach this morning. I can't wait to go to the Oral Surgeon and get this waiting over with. I'm not very good with suspense. Angela, we had a red chair when I was a kid that looked just like that! I loved it because I could sit close to the table and get up and down myself. Were your storms bad? Kathy, I do admire you. I might be pity eating if I were you. I think you'll never be fat again because you are always being so careful to guard against it. I hope your Doctor's appointment goes well. I think it's great to go in Rangers garb. Gotta support your team! Sandra, sleep is good! I'll be checking on you on Friday. The meeting is a great tool for me for both motivation and accountability. I hope your continue to be pain free. Saundra, I hate when my meals are expensive, but lately it seems you have to pay more to get the good ones. Melissa, I'm afraid of tornadoes too which isn't good living here in Chicagoland! We have our share, that's for sure. Jim couldn't handle both of us being afraid at the same time. Did you tell us that your contract was accepted? So if that's true then you have the house for sure? Wicked was INCREDIBLE! If you love the Wizard of Oz, you'll absolutely ADORE this story. I hear the book is a hard read, but the muscial was just one of the best productions that I have seen in a very long time. I can't even tell you anything about it because it would ruin all the great surprises. I'm so glad my Niece didn't tell me anything before we went. Dinner at Wildfire was awful. I really can't recommend the place. I'm ususally so careful but my steak came in some kind of weird "juice" and I didn't like the flavor. All I wanted was a charcoal broiled steak. Jim and I split a baked potato. We had broccoli that was actually hard and cold at the stem. I'm normally a send things back if they aren't right girl......however.....there's a story. We got there at 6:00 for our reservation. We didn't get seated until 6:30. They brought us bread and our beverages and we ordered about 6:40. The Waiter stopped by several times and kept telling us that our food was coming. At 7:15 I was mad! I'm the one in my family/circle that gets to handle this stuff so I let the waiter know...nicely...that we have been waiting FAR too long. So he finally gets the Manager who comes over and apologizes and says our food would be right there. The Manager never came back! The food arrived about 7:20 and we all started eating whatever they put in front of us. None of us had eaten anything since before we left for the play at noon! The waiter came back right before dessert and told us that everything but the beverages and dessert were taken off the bill by the Manager. We were stunned because the Manager had never come back to tell us that! I was glad because I wasn't happy about paying $30 for my nasty porterhouse. I admit to sharing a dessert with Jim. It was decadent and I won't tell you what it was but I'm sure I did NOT have the points to cover it. I didn't eat much of the other food though so I hope I'll be ok. We did a lot of walking and stairs so maybe that will help. Anyway, our bill for four people with steaks was $26.58! Obviously, we tipped the waiter on the full amount so it cost me $28 for Jim and I to eat yesterday. Jim had a ribeye which he thought was pretty good. So we left the restaurant at 8:15. I haven't talked to the Niece yet but she had to be up at 4:15. The Great Niece and Nephew were still up when she got home and her husband's Aunt had been there babysitting since noon! Well, it was a LONG day for everyone. I told Jim that the steaks we get from our Italian restaurant are a million times better. He agreed. Well, now that I got SO long winded.....what new....I need to get a move on. I don't think I'm weighing in today. I have to eat breakfast now and go get ready. We have to leave about 10:00. I'm guessing I can pop in later before my nap. I really need one since we have to babysit tonight from 6:00 to 9:30 and tomorrow is our ballgame. Life is WAY too busy for us these days. |
Vickie, I'm glad that you enjoyed the show, but sorry that your dinner was not pleasant. At least you didn't have to pay for it all! And yes, the house is ours pending a house inspection, which Aaron is scheduling right now.
Angela, I hope that your storms weren't too bad. Oh and I meant to tell you that I love the chair too. How chic! :D I called in sick this morning!! I woke up feeling flushed and congested and just decided I needed another day off. :) So here I am. I even convinced DH to skip his afternoon class, so we're going to do something fun. But I don't know what! I hope that you all have great days. I'm getting excited about this house thing! |
I'm about to leave for the doctor appt. I'll be back later this afternoon.
Vickie, sorry about your dinner but I'm glad you liked the play. Are you expecting a gain? I hope you're able to go next week because I know how much you enjoy it. Also sending good thoughts for Jim's report at the oral surgeon today. Melissa, I hope you feel better later but it sounds like you might already be. There are just some days when I feel like extending my weekend. I'm sure Mondays are the biggest "call in sick but I'm not really all that bad" day. The tailgaters called to let us know where they are parked. I think they're still hoping Judd will show up but he says he isn't. Maybe we'll go next weekend after I am released by the doctor. Since I'm on short-term disability, I doubt it would be a good thing to be seen at the ballpark plus I don't feel like fighting the crowd while in pain. I'd probably not be so nice if people were in my way. Have a good day! |
