Angela, I've never won a pennant either, come to think of it. I'm glad that you are feeling better!
|
I love you guys for teasing me about all the baseball stuff! Thanks for putting up with me while I go on an on about it. It's really important to me. Dad and Mom had 3 girls. Daddy really wanted a Son but when the third girl came along (me) he said "Ok, this one is going to be my little sports loving girl". I love all sports but baseball has the most special place in my heart since my Dad played semi-pro ball. No accident that I fell in love with a guy who loves sports (how many don't) and the White Sox as much as I do. He's been gone from the house since 7:45 because he heard that pennant tshirts and hats are available at 8:00. I'm getting ready for weigh in. I'll let you all know how I do later.
|
Vickie, I am actually married to a non-lover of sports! I lucked out. Jim sounds so funny. I can just picture him roaming the streets to find a t-shirt. :D Here are some lucky blinks for your w/i! ;) ;) ;)
|
Unfortunately, I am married to a sports nut of all kinds -- he both plays and watches baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer; and has always been big into bowling, scubadiving, motorcycle racing, you name it ... okay, except for Nascar. However, fortunately, I have always been a HUGE baseball fan, and I do mean huge. My mom is too, so I guess that's where I got it. I'm the same way with basketball and that's where I am all winter -- plunked on the couch watching the Mavs (and Spurs when Mavs aren't playing). Football and soccer can go away as far as I'm concerned.
I took the MSF course, bought a motorcycle, had it a while and then said nah. For sure, I'm not into racing but just wasn't that excited about regular riding either. I love to dive though and we go every chance we can, which is usually once a summer but recently has been every other. And I have a very pretty green and purple bowling ball with KATPO engraved in it. But I haven't been since I broke my foot summer before last. I guess I should go ... there's a nonsmoking alley here that would be perfect for me. And that's my sports story! |
My sports story... :chin:
I danced (ballet) for about 7 years. I was really good at it. When I was in 8th grade I decided to quit and play basketball (for a number of reasons). I was okay at it, but lacked any kind of competitive meanness needed on the floor. It was a one year only gig. Let's see, I did a summer of church league softball...yeah, that's about it. But of course I am from KY, so grew up in a family of UK basketball nuts. So I do love college basketball. :D I like to play volleyball, go bowling, those sort of things, but just for fun, not competition! (I guess that's what people say when they aren't very good  ) |
Or you're like me! I don't play but I love to watch and cheer.
Thanks for the blinks. I'm off to weigh in now. My meeting starts at 10:00. Jim is driving me because he wants to go look for shirts. One of us is supposed to stay home to wait for the call from the plumber but he says he doesn't care....we'll be home by 11:00. Ok. No big deal right? Talk to you later this morning. |
I played on the company softball team for several years when the kids were younger. I guess the only things I do nowadays that qualify as sports would be bike riding, diving, bowling, and the occasional sprint down the street when Bindy escapes from the back yard.

Hey Chicks! I lost 3 pounds of the 4.2 that I gained last week. Now to get my butt back on the treadmill.
Still waiting to hear from the plumber. Jim got his shirts but no hats. He's a happy guy. When he picked me up, he was wearing the new tshirt! I got bad news at my meeting. My Leader that I love so much is leaving and today was her last day. She has to go to work fulltime. She's keeping one evening meeting that is too far away for me to go. We don't know who will TRY to replace her. She is so wonderful and I'm very sad. I have this terrible separation anxiety/abandonment thing. I'm very hungry. You think there is a connection? She gave me her email address but it won't be the same. |
Wow! A good news / bad news kinda morning, wasn't it! I'm sure it won't be long until you're into new territory! I'm sorry about the leader. Are you sure it's too far? If you end up not liking the replacement, you might consider going to her meeting anyway. I drive 30 miles to work, so I guess I don't notice distances anymore. But some people do, for instance -- if my mom has to drive more than 5 miles in a day, she takes a sack lunch. That's a BIG day for her!
No abandonment eating though! You know better! |
Well...it is less than 30 miles. We'll see. If the replacement sucks, I may drive to be with Lisa.
I'll be eating lunch early today. I'm pretty darn hungry. |
Good job Vickie! I'm sorry to hear that your leader is leaving. Am I imagining things, or did this happen recently before? Or was that someone else? Sorry, I'm having a moment. ;) Just think, when you hop on the treadmill all week you will have another great loss next monday. And don't forget, we won't abandon you! :D
|
Melissa, that was such a sweet thing to say!
Vickie, I totally agree about the distance. I hope you didn't misunderstand that. They're paying me to come to work, but you're paying them to go to WW. I'd be looking for the closest one I could find too! |
CONGRATS VICKIE - sounds like you're on your way! Sorry to hear about your leader leaving, but you do have some options - I say try the new leader - you might like her too! Otherwise it's a drive for you? Just keep an open mind.
Melissa - I like you married a non-sports fanatic which is fine by me. Of course having 2 boys in the house I have not escaped sports activities and news.! Coming from Montreal I did follow hockey quite a bit in my youth. Now I do go to the Hockey game with big ds a few times per season (very $$ tho so not very often!) - in fact we have some tickets for the Nov 5th game - Senators vs. NY Islanders - and this time we are taking the 7 yr old for his first hockey game - should be loads of fun! I am home today and in the cluthes of the pms sugar monster - I am here to confess that I ate 2 COFFEE CRISP CHOCOLATE BARS - not one but 2 - can you imagine? I am home today and went w/dh to drop off ds at school then to the pharmacy for more sinus meds and needed a new epipen cuz mine is expired, ended up at the grocery store where the chocolate bars were ON SALE - so dh picked up a couple for me and now you all know where they ended up! Good news is a big pot of Froufie soup is simmering on the stove (it's that kind of cold gloomy day), with beef and barley and beans and tomatoes so this should keep me going for a few days (and will freeze some as well). Also have a nice chicken roasting in the oven - so dinner is already planned I guess! Did the RESP refund paperwork - just need a letter from ds' university as proof of enrollment then $5K is coming my way ! YIPPEE. And have gathered paperwork for laptop/IPOD rebate to take to work to photocopy invoices, etc so I can send the originals in for the rebate - slow and steady wins the race. At least I am feeling a bit better about the stuff lying around on my desk here! Nortel stock also going up - just bought some (as they have announced a new CEO) and hoping to make some $$ on that! Keeping fingers crossed. So no TOM - still feeling a bit overwhelmed, but at least I am up and doing stuff so this is a good sign I guess? DD has dancing tonight - so I'll be out for an hour or so - probalby go to the mall or out for coffee at Starbucks while I wait. Also need to try out the new purse I got yesterday - I am VERY FUSSY about purses as I only buy one seldom and it needs to work for me. This one "seems" to have the amount of pockets/sections I need without looking too huge and bulky - but the proof is in the trial run - I need to empty the old one (which allows for a good cleaning out of misc items/bills etc) and see if it all fits properly into the new one - if not, back it goes and the search continues. I have been looking for a new purse for a few months now - so I am starting to lose hope! Still need to order coats from Sears - maybe I'll do that now? (do you think a size 20 wll fit?) :?: Frouf |
Yeah, it was me that lost my Leader a couple of months ago. I'll see how the new one is before I start moving around.
I feel real crummy so I'm going to go lay down with the heating pad. Can't tell if it's cramps or the UTI returning. We are back from getting Jim's locker room shirt and hat. Now we still need to buy him the World Series black hat that is out. I bought him a roster shirt (one with all the guys names on it) as a surprise but gave it to him right away anyway. He was like a little boy...all smiles. Life is good. I didn't take exception, Kath! I used to travel 3 hours round trip to work each day. But, now I find myself not wanting to go that far if I don't have to. Believe me, if I can't find another good Leader, I'll be driving to be with Lisa. Talk with you all later. |
Sounds like you guys are having those kind of days... ;)
Frouf, sorry to hear about the chocolate bars but it does sound like you have been productive today. :high: for that! Kathy, It took me awhile to figure out what I had done that was sweet. I'm such an airhead sometimes. I've actually done pretty well today, except I am now eating candy corn! But only a few. They aren't too high in points, and I can't stand to eat too many since they are so super sweet. Yesterday I took a drink of DH's reg. coke and it was so nasty sweet. I've gotten used to being without it I guess. Except for when it comes to cakes, cookies, and candy...mmm...sugar. You have to ignore me, I'm in a silly mood!! Only 1.5 hours of work left today!! :cp: |
